Just wanted to add that the list sounds fine and you should go put it in the bin because you are doing fabulously well.

He must be one happy baby

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 20:40

Hope I haven't upset you Ses

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 20:42

(On laptop so sorry for dodgy posts)

Ses, totally agree wth Sorky. That's a waste of your tme!!! Also Sorky's rght about expressng. You'll get the hang of BF soon. But don't lsten too much to MW.

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 20:47

Ooh Kayz I love ya, thought I was on me own there

lardybump · 15/05/2009 20:48

Well said sorky. What planet is your MW on???? Ses DD was born 8lb 4oz we were kept in for 3 days and on the first mw vist to my house she weighed 6lb 14oz... We were all a bit worried but we kept an eye on it and after this she keep to the 9th centile. pedeo told me that a lot of babies are born to light and so they pile on the weight from birth but some a born to heavy so they lose weight from birth... He said he would be concerned if she had not lost weight at birth but then lost it at 6 or 7 weeks but not at birth...

The weight loss you have had is not huge really and as long as she is feeding and weeing well then you do not have a problem!!!

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 20:50

Had a brainwave here!! i've copied and pasted the i!!!

lardybump · 15/05/2009 20:50

Also dont get obsesed about it or baby O will pick up on this and feeding times may then become stressful for you both.....

Oh I wish i could have 10 mins in a room alone with your MW...

lardybump · 15/05/2009 20:51

I would get DS to puke on her...

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 20:57

i will get DS1 to wee on her. He will wee anywhere but his potty or the toilet.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 15/05/2009 21:00

Thanks (again!) guys!

Different MW tomorrow so hope she helps me get my confidence back!

He has been slightly jaundiced and this seems to have improved today so I'm taking that as a good sign.

lardybump · 15/05/2009 21:07

very very good sign ses...

GruffaloSoldier · 15/05/2009 21:08

hello everyone!

I am just dashing on as I just have to tell you that I have managed to fade out formula and Im now doing one top up a day in the evening and breastfeeding the rest of the time. (before I was hardly bf as ds wouldn't latch on for long enough and was ff majority of time)It is very difficult, especially with colic but Im getting there.I have nearly given up so many times. Any words of encouragement/advice greatly received.(esp Glask - congrats on bf advisor role!) Have been feeling quite low past couple of days.

I am also expressing to try and increase my supply where possible and using that as top up instead of ff where possible.

Havent really had time to read everything but Ses sounds like you are doing great and you're right to ignore hv!Only reason I FF was because DS got ill and wouldn't take anything. Its such early days for you.

Oh yes and should be able to meet at Reading as very close to me too

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 21:12

Ses the improvement in jaundice is an excellent sign that feeding is going well and he is thriving.
It does get easier. It is hard when it's your first and everything is sooo new and different and I found, a bit overwhelming.
It's hard to trust your instincts at first I think because of the confidence and natural to trust me as we presume they have the experience that we don't, BUT no one knows O like you do. You already know when he's getting tired, when he's heard your voice, when he content. In a couple of weeks you'll be flying I promise.

LOL at you two plotting about the mw, think the chat at bettys should be good hehe

Kayzr · 15/05/2009 21:17

Gruff, that is fabulous news!!!!!! So very pleased for you!!! You are doing so very well!! i hope you can completly cut out formula.

sorkycakey · 15/05/2009 21:21

Have switched to laptop, phone texty thing is driving me nuts. I look illiterate

Gruff that's fantastic news!! you should be really proud of yourself

GruffaloSoldier · 15/05/2009 21:22

Thanks Kayz - I really hope so too!Its been such a struggle but oh so worth it!I just hope that I can keep it up. I'm constantly worrying that he isn't geting enough - and sometimes that is exactly right and I have to constantly feed, but I think we are getting there slowly.

GruffaloSoldier · 15/05/2009 21:24

Thanks Sorky!

lardybump · 15/05/2009 21:28

Well done gruff. DS had colic (as well asmreflux) it was awful so I do feel for you. He used to be so bad between 6 and midnight. you could set your watch by him but all that has stopped now. He still gets bad at about 8 but only for 30 mins or so. I believe that as well as him being more upright now and so bringing up his wind, the osteopath has really helped him. They did a lot of work on his diaphrame (sp?) and I think they stopped alot of it... Have you tried an osteopath???

GruffaloSoldier · 15/05/2009 21:43

hi LB - yes we have cranial osteo - only had 3 sessions with her so far though. has def got better before it was all day now it comes and goes. def better some days than others. He has reflux too but its the silent one and doesn't have it all the time. We hae had one day when he was constantly sickin up his food but then just went again. Hes on gaviscon at the mo.

Alot going on at our house at the mo! not to mention no hot water or heating for 7 weeks

lardybump · 15/05/2009 21:51

Oh no we have a problem with our boiler as well. We have heating but no hot water... Glad things are getting better for you, remember none of it is your fault (MIL told me that as both mine have had reflux there must be something wrong with my milk ) and you are doing fab...

GruffaloSoldier · 15/05/2009 22:57

Thanks LB

sorry you are having boiler problems too!

my laptop is playing up now- grr!

Kayzr · 16/05/2009 07:51

Morning,

Nat, i have everything crossed for you.

LB and Gruff, hope your boilers get fixed soon.

LB, get that DS of yours to vomit on your mil!!

Absolutely awful night here. Feeling bloody horrible, sore throat, blocked nose, headache and i've lost my voice. Only got to sleep at half 4 and then was woken up at 7.

Dad is coming up for the day today and then we're out for a meal for sil's birthday so won't be back untl tomorrow.

Hope you all have good weekends.

NatalieJane · 16/05/2009 08:26

Just a quick post to say I haven't done the test, I am going to be brave and do it today at some point, still no period, no periody feelings, woke up with cramp in my leg, haven't had that since DS3, I think I know what the test's going to say, just hoping beyond hope I am wrong.

I just don't see how it's happened, I can't see how it would be even in the slightest bit possible.

Have busy day, got to get the boys bathed this morning, get into town and get their hair cuts, then DH is taking DS2 and 3 off my hands while I go round town with DS1 and my friend and her daughter, then, we need to go shopping/sort out on line shop which ever we're doing, then I will sink a bottle of wine and do the test!

Have a lovely weekend every one xxx

Kayzr · 16/05/2009 08:29

Good luck Nat. You could do an unoffical test and go look at raw meat to see if you feel ill.

SesIsNowCountingdownthedays · 16/05/2009 08:42

Morning!

Kay - hope you feel lots better soon. Sounds like you have a lovely weekend planned.

Nat - keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Gruff & LB - hope boilers get sorted soon. Ours is still working at the moment but on it's last legs so will be getting a new one within the next couple of months.
Also just wanted to say you are both truly inspirational with how you are coping with colic / reflux issues. I hope things continue to get better on that front.

Not too bad a night here. Feeding again at the moment. MW could come any time between 9 and 5.

My younger brother is over staying with my parents this weekend and so is coming over with mum to meet his nephew.
