Ooh bike AND new freezer Kayz .Hope you get a change to get out on it over the next few days. What's a 'croque monsieur'?? Don't remember seeing on the menu!

sorkycakey · 13/05/2009 12:02

I'm going out tonight with the girls .

I'm hoping there's loads of gossip heehee.
Diege I just dribbled tea at your shaving related accident.... Better than wee I suppose.

LB can you email me with where you are staying

sorkycakey · 13/05/2009 12:05

Good news about your bike Kayz, I bet you're dying to get out on it

Moosy · 13/05/2009 12:15

Oh I'm so of you lot and your meet up. I hope you have alovely time

Headache is back today as I slept on the sofa last night. It's all DH's fault, how dare he breathe in my bed

idreamofbeanie · 13/05/2009 12:20

Glask - I am a size 16 and would take any maternity clothes you want rid of in that size off your hands but I'd feel much better if you would let me give you some pennies for them (maternity stuff is so expensive - already spent £70 on a pair of jeans and 2 pairs of trousers from mothercare but worth it as they are soooo much more comfy).

Sorky - sorry about DD, it must be a blow but it's fantastic you are so supportive of her giving it a go.

Kayz - hooray for new bike, I hope we have a bit of sun this week(end) so you can get out on it.

Good luck with all the potty training!

I had a lovely retail therapy session yesterday to celebrate a great scan. I know newborns don't really need any toys but couldn't resist a lovely Elmo teddy, a whoozit (my niece loves hers), some soft balls with rattle/crinkle and a Sophie giraffe teether as well as a couple of soft blankets. I have been given loads of clothes from DB and wanted to buy something nice for my little girl rather than just the practical stuff I need. Plus it makes me smile when I see it all sitting in the moses basket. I really wanted a fisher price rainforest activity mat too (the big round one) but it's quite expensive so I decided to leave it for next time .

idreamofbeanie · 13/05/2009 12:22

x-posted with loads of people there but just had to say I'm getting weird looks giggling to myself in the office picturing Diege hovering post-shaving accident .

Diege · 13/05/2009 12:33

Yes, I was getting a bit ambitious with the razer, going for a cool Braizilian look, but ending up with a mixture of (soon to be) itchy scabs and bald patches. Nice...
MOOSY, I know exactly what you mean about dh's and breathing. Poor dh is regularly thimped in ngith due to garlic breath, or just the noise of him breathing. The window has been coonstantly open since BFP!
SORKY, enjoy your night out
IDOB, do we have another closet shopaholic here then?? . I'd say go for the rainforest mat THIS time as you'll get more use then if you have subsequent beans! (so will be saving money really )

Kayzr · 13/05/2009 12:36

Diege, it is a posh cheese and ham toastie!!

idreamofbeanie · 13/05/2009 12:41

Diege - when I said next time I meant the next shopping trip which may be quite soon . I'm not usually a shopaholic but I'm so excited about the bean I've discovered a whole new side to myself. DP is leaving all shopping up to me - he looked at the pram I fancy but isn't interested otherwise - so I might as well indulge.

DP had a good laugh the other day saying he would help me 'tidy down below' as he put it if I couldn't see/reach by then but said he might trim his initials or a smily face into it . The thought kept him amused for ages. He's such a charmer - why am I having a baby with this man?

Diege · 13/05/2009 12:49

LOL KAYZ Only at Betty's!
IDOB, that's more like it! My dh has also been overly keen to assist in the topiary department Absolutely no chance! Feel a bit sorry for him actually as he's had nothing in that department since the bfp and I think he's given up asking now poor love

sorkycakey · 13/05/2009 13:00

What shall I wear tonight?
It's a local Italian place, early evening, not posh..... Any ideas?

juleswastink · 13/05/2009 13:24

idob - good shoop - whoozits r great one of brackens favourite would also reccomend lamaze mortimer the moose and there is a purple elephant really good
your bits sound lovely. it is so exciting getting bits for the baby
i was going to get rainforest mat is pricey
i have wiggly worm mat
is from ebay really nice

have to take bracken for her 16 week injections in a min

sorky - must be hard asking to go to school

kay- ye for freezer and bike

Diege · 13/05/2009 13:45

Hi TINKS! Good luck with the injections, it's hard isn't it? I've just had the nurse on the phone about dd3 coming in next week for pre-school booster. Seems very early at 3.5, but can get it done at same time as seeing midwife. I think in a way they're worse when they're older as they know what's going on!
SORKY, I would say local non-posh place, early seating, that you could get away with jeans and a nice top, unless of course you're like me who overdresses at any opportunity just because I don't get out much! Pretty much what you fancy and feel good in I'd say, maybe with some nice jewellery etc.
Rain is pouring down here! Need to head out to get ingrediants for vegi chilli, but I really can;t be ar*sed!

sorkycakey · 13/05/2009 13:57

I'm thinking black skinnies, black t-shirt and killer heels, what do you think?

sorkycakey · 13/05/2009 13:59

Oh god Diege don't say they're worse as they get older, we're getting Ds2 vaccinated this Summer for the first time at 2.5yo.
I have a feeling he'll screech
Might have to buy him some choc's and a toy in advance to distract him....oh, and get Dh to take him

Diege · 13/05/2009 14:11

Oh yes, spot on SORKY . I'd add a bit of bling too - maybe a chunky bracelet and earrings.
Agree, getting dh to take them def best option . In fact I have just left message on his work phone planting the seed of that very idea

idreamofbeanie · 13/05/2009 14:19

Cheers Tink - I'll have a look at the moose and elephant as I have discovered I love shopping for beanie. I'm probably going over the top but what the hell. I've been watching for the rainforest mat on ebay but they are selling for £40+ so maybe I'll have a look at some others.

Have a great evening Sorky.

I have a quick question - for the last 10 days or so I have been feeling little twinges in my lower tummy and I think it might be the baby moving but it doesn't feel the way I expected or people have described. Its like little tiny muscle spasms - like a little bit of my tummy muscle (ha - if there is any muscle there) suddenly twinges or jumps or cramps but its not sore. Oh, its so hard to describe - obviously I think its like little kicks and wriggles but only because I want it to be the baby. It's really low down usually - too low to be wind or hunger. I was just feeling it in the evening when sitting still or lying in bed but now I often feel it during the day too if I am sitting at my desk, particularly if I'm leaning forwards. If it is the baby she is a little wriggler as I feel it a lot now but am I just getting excited over my tummy muscle stretching and pulling?

Diege · 13/05/2009 14:31

Sounds like movement to me IDOB

idreamofbeanie · 13/05/2009 14:34

Thanks Diege - that was just what I wanted to hear.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 13/05/2009 15:29

Hi all, sorry been AWOL for soooo long, my laptop has had to go for repairs, have finally managed to pinch DH's so that I can look for jobs surf all day .

Ses - a 101 belated congratulations! You soundlike you're doing fab with the feeding, if in any doubt re pain etc, just contact the hospital (they should have a breastfeeding counsellor you can speak to or go to visit) / mw / hv to get them to check latch, as whilst there maybe discomfort with letdown, I don't think it should actually hurt.. but maybe I was just very lucky.

I've heard the Kellymom website is also really good for BF advice.

I'm still not sure about the meet up, got a few final plans being pulled together, but am hoping to be there (especially as I've now seen the menu - thanks Kayz!)

I've been keeping really busy, and trying to get lots of exercise in. I've found I'm eating loads less at the moment, I think as I'm not stressed every day! I went to aquanatal for the first time (in this pg) today and was knackered and I'm only just 19 weeks and not even working!

IDOB, congrats on having a girl - I've been feeling movements for nearly three weeks now, I've been describing it to DP as a kind of 'flicking' feeling, from inside... not butterflies like I had before. Its also when I lean forward squash --the- baby that its more noticeable. Its lovely and very reassuring.

LB, hurrah for sleeping through, agree that it seems time for a sample. Sorry that you're not getting better support re DS.

Sorky, sorry for DD wanting to try school, but at the same time, its a real compliment that she wants to do it. I know that sounds perverse - but I mean that I think it must have taken a lot of confidence to ask you, and to want to try something so different, and you've given her that confidence. Hope you see what I mean

Diege, hurrah for working from home, hope its going OK! Not long to go now, it seems like a whole world away, when the wagon first got rolling doesn't it!

Moos, hope that sickness is getting better, not long to go now till your first scan? Is it booked yet?

Kay, Cool new bike!

NJ, you make me feel so old! I just can't drink anymore, nevermind with three LO's!

MinM, One Week!!! Will try to stay up to date, but Kayz, if you could do text updates if I haven't spotted it, I'd appreciate it!

Starshine, congrats on your girl! I'm hoping for another DS but will be happy whatever obviously! We need some boys to balance up the wagon!

Still can't a) work out whether or not to find out the sex (or at least try to) and b) come up with a boys name that DH and I like! Might get you to poll a couple on FB if you would be so kind?

Starshinetiger · 13/05/2009 15:58

Hey STT - glad you are able to get out and about and enjoy stuff with all that is going on. 19 weeks already - where did that time go? I'm sure it feels like a lot longer to you?

Sorky - are you wearing those gorgeous shoes your DH bought you tonight? Outfit sounds fab. Am that you have expressed enough to have a night out. While I was great at expressing while DD was in intensive care, I can't seem to get the timing right or get much out now. Must have another go tomorrow morning.

LB - so sorry for ongoing troubles with DS, but yay to him sleeping through Have to admit that I would be chasing your GP and/or hospital at blood in nappy - that's the question they always seem to ask "Have you seen any blood in the nappy" so seems odd to not be concerned! Hope you get some answers soon.

IDOB - am intrigued by the whoozit - may head off (online) to see what I can find for DD (feel like I have shamelessly ignored buying toys for her - she has been given a trillion soft toys and we have toys from DS also, but whoozit sounds intriguing.

Diege - lol and sympathy at your home shaving - hope it's not too sore. Have to admit I gave myself a pre-birth trim, but couldn't see much (at 38 weeks) and managed to nick myself - was sore!

Kayz - yay for bike and freezer!

I'm so envious of your meet-up - are we organising a southern one, anyone interested? Or just a national one in London/Birmingham maybe?!

Right - DD having a nap and should be playing with DS but this is my 5 mins out.

P.S. went into town at lunchtime to get DS some new shoes (£30 now - aaagh!) and managed to lose his Raaargh (his name for his toy tiger - the noise a tiger makes). Luckily the staff had found it in Mothercare and DH made himself late for work going to fetch it (I have been a total stressbag and really will have to make it up to DH).

Sparklytwinkletoes · 13/05/2009 16:04

Hi Starshine - in some ways I've not been noticing the weeks passing with all that's been going on, but in other respects, I feel like I've been pregnant for ages. This one is sooooo much easier than first time round, which is lovely.

Diege - forgot about your home shaving, I always let DH do mine, contrary to most on here! He simply wouldn't dare do anything he shouldn't!

Starshine, I'm in the middle so a Birmingham one would be easy for me.... but having said that, aren't we even closer to each other than that? And I'm on 'leave' at the moment...

Starshinetiger · 13/05/2009 16:19

Are we closer STT? I'm in Reading - not sure where you are... I'm always up for some adult company now I'm at home with both during the week.

Meant to say - I also thought 2 brothers would be lovely (although a little part of me always wanted a little girl). We were going to find out at 20 week scan, but when we were in there and they said everything was alright we were just happy baby was healthy (obviously they're not so good at scanning round here... ) - not that it makes any difference, wouldn't change DD for the world (other than take all this hassle away for her).

Right - don't let me back on here before DS' bedtime!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 13/05/2009 16:22

Oh, I must have you confused with someone else then, I'm nowhere near Reading!!! LOL! Damn, would have been lovely to come over and see you and your girls

Def. a meet up required on a national wagon level!
