BB, he settles a bit better for DH than he does for me DH has gone out to uni now - George was quiet, but literally as soon as the front door closed behind DH he started screaming again. It's difficult not to take it personally. Sometimes DH can't manage to calm him down either, but he's successful about 3 times as often as I am. I just have to keep telling myself that at less than 3 weeks old, it's not like he can have a real favourite...

We'd only been finished about 20 seconds when he started grizzling again, but at least we'd finished

Sorry that Kara's not well I'm sure it's much worse for him than you - you have to put up with the grumpiness. All he has is a cold

& I bet your house doesn't look half as bad as you think it does.

I'm watching Grey's on Living at the moment - the one where McDreamy has to carry Meredith out of the water. That scene is what gave me the courage to break up with my boyfriend of 4 years. I don't often admit to being so influenced by television

Meg, I really hope that your sweep starts things off for you & you don't have to wait until Thursday. Either way, it's nearly over

BabyBolat · 28/04/2009 15:03

Thanks Boff, am going to try and get a drs appointment for him tomorrow to see if they can just make sure there is no infection there!

Come to think of it we do have a very attractive bunch of babies!

Got drs appointment for tomorrow (yay) tis amazing how much better they are with kids - they got him in there tomorrow - if it was for me or DH there would be at least 3 weeks!

Oh springy I cried so much at that episode - I can't watch it now!

Nutty, it was a lot like being a virgin. Except this time I wasn't dealing with a reluctant boyfriend, an increasingly flaccid penis, agonising pain because I wasn't physically ready (no foreplay for me at all!) & I didn't get shouted at & made to cry immediately afterwards. Never mind the tear, episiotomy & piles - this time was so much better

SpringySponge · 28/04/2009 15:10

I know, BB - I was bawling the first time I saw it It's sad in so many ways. One of the worst bits is when Denny & Izzy sense each other at the end. Oh, it's just painful. But yes - the carrying out of the water. I just thought, 'He'd never carry me out like that... He'd probably not even be able to find me under the water. He'd try, but he'd not manage it. & that's kind of a metaphor for the entire relationship...' & that was it. Happily, I know DH would find me & save me

I hope Kara's given the all clear WRT infection - I'm impressed that they're so good at fitting kids in

Ooh, did you see the trailer for the new one? I'm impatient for Thursday now!

George is actually quiet at the moment. I am cuddling him & don't dare stop. But he's quiet & therefore infinitely cuter.

BabyBolat · 28/04/2009 16:04

hi folks - sweep went quite well. am 3cm dilated so at least know that things have kicked off to a certain extent.

she felt the head and a fair amount of show came out afterwards. booked in for induction next thursday (wanted to avoid friday as its dh's bday but no appointments on wed) but mw said she'd be very surprised if i hadnt gone by then.

had a few aches and pains since so am really hoping that things will get established in the next few days. off to bounce on my ball more.

well done springy - think 2.5 weeks is more ambitious than i will fancy but you never know. good to get the first one over with anyway but i know what you mean about contraception being a pain - havent totally decided what to do as the pill makes me depressed.

good that your carpet is starting to look better bb - just read about the whole saga today - sounds like a total nightmare after all you and dh's hard work.

well done to ginger and lauren - not many to go now, but i'd reiterate that the baby stuff doesnt put me off at all so unless frekkles really minds, i'd rather you all stayed around. but its up to you.

conkertree · 28/04/2009 17:16

just noticed that ds (20 months) is wandering around the house in my red shoes - made me lol. very cute

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 28/04/2009 17:29

Hello all,

Just popping in as by some strange miracle both Orbit and DS1 are asleep - Orbit in his carry cot and DS1 on the sofa after a hard day at Grannie's house

Haven't been in for a while as life has been quite busy in the FreshHell household. Weekend was a real trial without DP, friend who came to help was lovely and fab help but also brought her 15 month old who is my godson and very gorgeous, but at that age where he likes to empty the soil out of plant pots and pull everything off the table. Our house is so not baby proof any more, DS1 is too old for these antics and Orbit not old enough yet! So was a lovely time with my friend but also very very tiring. We ended up putting clingfilm over all the big plant pots so he couldn't get in

Then on Sunday night some friends who live in London popped in as they were in the area with their little boy who is 8 weeks old (technically - he was born at 27 weeks so it's 21 weeks since he was born, but 8 weeks since his due date iyswim) so there was lots of making tea and ordering takeaway etc etc and going to bed quite late. He is v v cute though and quite a medical marvel.

I was very pleased to see DP when he finally turned up!

Springy sounds like you are getting back into the swing of things, arf....! Orbit is exactly the same as George, the second DP leaves the house he starts grizzling. Tsk.

BB can't believe that in the time since I last posted your ceiling has collapsed and been repaired - does time move differently in your house or something?

Huge congratulations to GingerSarah and Lauren, and anyone else I've missed, sorry, am very hopeless at catching up.

Very impressed with all the expressing that's going on, I have got as far as finding all the bits of the breast pump but not actually using it yet. Never have time when DS1 is at home and to be honest finding a moment that Orbit isn't feeding is quite tricky! Still, small steps, now I have all the bits I might get round to sterilising them for tomorrow. Does anyone know how much water you put in those microwave sterilisers, and for how long? It's one of the old style Avent ones and the instructions have long since been lost.

So I think once all the babies are here we should have a small awards ceremony for our AN group, what do you think? We could have awards for Longest Pre-Labour, Most Ridiculous MW Comment Heard, Most DIY Done While Pregnant (no prizes for guessing who's in the running there!), Bravery in the Face of Continuous SPD Pain etc etc? I'm bagsying Largest Baby so far! I feel sure there's an award in it for everyone on this thread, you've all been such superheroes.

I could also be in the running for Most Appropriately Named HCP Encountered - the HCA on the ward who was tasked with helping me express for Orbit on the first night was called Sucki..... Honest, it was on her name badge.

Ho hum, better go and forage for tea. Is it bad that I haven't made it out of PJs today?

tartetatin · 28/04/2009 17:31

Conkertree, I'm impressed that you have had a sweep already. Did you request that yourself? I was due on the 25th but won't have a sweep until the 2nd. I have booked a reflexology session tomorrow to see if that gets things going. At the very least it will be a relaxing footrub...
Very envious of all the ladies with their gorgeous babies, starting to feel that it might never happen..

conkertree · 28/04/2009 17:38

tartetatin - the only day we get mw appointments in my gp surgery is a Tuesday so its pretty much luck of the draw how long after your due date you get one. with ds i was due on a wed, and they gave me a sweep at 39+6, so this time it was just the first tues after due date.

are you not able to request one? seems a bit unfair to leave you so long after due date unless you dont want one sooner. has definitely cheered me up with her saying she felt the head - made it feel more real again, like there is a real baby in there.

wfh - good idea wrt to the nominations. hope you are enjoying your few mins of peace before the dc wake up again.

Bleuravin · 28/04/2009 18:24

congrats to the new babies!

Springy sex! we've been having a lot of foreplay but not 'done the deed' yet as I'm a little scared actually...

I just spent the late afternoon (1-6) in bed feeding and sleeping with Meg and feel lovely relaxed I would suggest such episodes for others if possible
