Morning all

Woke around 6am this morning with mild contractions, kept me awake every 10 mins until I got up at 8am... then nothing since! Grrr!

MegBusset · 28/04/2009 09:02

Also, DS used to cough and choke a lot during early feeds, think it was 'cause I had a fast let-down. I switched to one-sided feeding which seemed to help.

conkertree · 28/04/2009 09:05

meg - join the false start group - think we will be here till May although I am slightly holding out some hope for my sweep today.

Would at least be good to know i have started dilating or something.

MegBusset · 28/04/2009 09:11

Thanks Conker. I have lost a small bit of my plug this morning too, so hoping that's a good sign. Will be thinking of you while the MW rummages around my bits this morning.

BabyBolat · 28/04/2009 09:39

oooh yay for sweeps - i hope we get more babies today! we should do - typically whenever i do diy babies come and today i shall be ripping down the rest of the ceiling!! (not me personally before you shout at me nutty!) go babies!!

Congratulations to Lauren - I was expecting her birth announcement when I finally found time to catch up.

Also big congratulations to everyone else who has popped
Not many left now.........

BB - we had a leak when our bathroom was fitted too. It was the overflow pipe that had not been properly connected. I'm sure it's a just a case of connecting a pipe.

Will continue post later but it's feed time!

Bleuravin · 28/04/2009 11:45

here's to sweeping that works!

Bleuravin · 28/04/2009 11:58

So the gp doesn't want to give me anything 'else' for my breast pain and doesn't think I have thrush by looking at me and Meg... / depending on how you look at it.
Hopefully this all goes away soon on it's own, though if it doesn't I'm going back in...there's only so much I can deal with.

I wanted to say too -for those of you struggling with bf- that I was specifically told that any more than 30min on a boob is too much for the baby/you. If they're not getting enough from one boob after 30min I was told to transfer them to the other and after that give it a rest for at least 2 hrs... then do it again. Otherwise you'll just damage you're poor nipples more and more and they'll not be able to recover. Also if the nipples are very bad I was told try to express for 24hrs (with an electric pump...5min on one breast, 5min on other, then repeat -so 10min total on each breast- and feed to baby and do it every 2hrs if necessary)

Congtatulations Lauren!!

BB, Alex was really stuffed up and I was told to clear out his nose by squirting this stuff in his nostrils, hard. It's very tough to do, as it's clearly no fun for the baby, but it does wash out the gunk and let them breathe. Not sure if you can get it in the UK, it's part of the basics of baby equipment here, it's just a mild saline solution, used for cleaning their eyes, nose, etc. I can send you some if you like! But maybe you could ask at a chemists or in an opticians, because I'm sure contact lens wearers use it sometimes.

Sorry your mw has been dismissive Nutty. Can you call up the unit you were in and talk to someone else about it?

I went over things for a good week and a half with DH... I think it's a bit post tramatic stress... it takes a lot of thinking to get one's mind around big things like this I think. All the pain and stress and worry for both you and the lo...

I think you did a fine job If you're still dwelling after a week or so have another chat with the mw.

AuldAlliance · 28/04/2009 12:54

Ahem, ahem,
I just want to apologise for not responding much to lots of the posts on here.

I am thinking of everyone, and would second BB's 4am gush about how amazing you all are, and what luck I have to be on the April threads with such a special group of ladies.

I just don't have time to read all the posts and respond to them, so I reply to those I've seen and which I feel I can usefully answer.

But that doesn't mean I'm not behind you all, all the way, whether you're waiting to pop and worrying about what comes next, or are struggling with your new baby and the intricacies of BFing, nocturnal troubles, screaming babies or whatever. I remember the sheer solitude that motherhood seems to bring, when you are rocking that crying baby at silly o'clock in the morning as the rest of the world is sleeping soundly, and I am glad to be a part, albeit sporadic, of this group, which will mean that we are all a little bit less likely to suffer from that solitude.

Gush over...!

Bleuravin · 28/04/2009 12:58

Auld
You and Bb have taken the words out of my mouth.

I too am so thankful to have stumbled across you all. I thank you all most wholeheartedly for getting me through this!

Schulte, sterile saline nasal drops can be made up by the chemist for use on newborns with colds. That's about the only thing you can give them.

BoffinMum · 28/04/2009 13:27

Sorry, meant BB.
