Hope no one minds I gave Nutty the vote after her epic birth!

BB, that's a nice plan re the sleepover, will see what DH thinks .

No paed available till next week (national holiday here tomorrow, I suspect doctors have long weekends lined up), but I've calmed down now.

Have also changed diet, cut dairy products to a minimum, switched to rooibos tea (can't drink my decaff Earl Grey w/o milk!) and realised that I had a huge chocolate binge 2 days ago which probably contributed to Alex's troubles. Good resolutions have therefore been made about cutting chocolate totally. Should help the kilos go, too.

Block feeding also helped, so thanks for that link, WFH.

We'll see what fun today holds - apart from the mandatory bloody viewing of my (filthy) house, of course. Yesterday there was one which happened while Alex slept, but 5pm isn't a propitious time for calm around here!

I am feeling stronger after sleeping from 10pm-1am and then 1:30am to 5:30am and again till 7:30. Thanks for the hugs and support!

CONGRATS BICNOD.

Oscar was our boys name choice, fabulous. x

PuzzleRocks · 30/04/2009 10:36

Trista - I think you are amazingly strong and a wonderful mother. I hope the silly sod realises how stupid he is being before it's too late. You deserve so much better. xxxx

AuldAlliance · 30/04/2009 11:01

BB, Alex does that "I am unhappy" face, it's so sad to see!!
Did you find your lansinoh, and if so where was it hiding? If not, sorry to raise painful topics.

Nutty, that's brilliant that you have found a treatment that works for you. Hope things get better now.

Bleuravin · 30/04/2009 11:16

Morning all.

Hugs all around for everyone, to ward off current troubles and furture troubles... Remember we're all stronger than we think. (hugs)

Meg and I took Dad out to Raglan castle yesterday, only it took a little longer than I had anticipated and so I wasn't prepared to feed her out of the house so she was a bit angry with me by the time we got back home.(I'm feeling a bit shy about nursing in public yet as I tend to whip off my shirt and bra at home (up in my bedroom) while everyone else is another room completely.) Any ideas how to make the transition into feeding in public. ...AND has anyone found any cute bf tops which don't look like drapes or pregnancy clothes? I'm tired of looking frumpy.

Bleuravin · 30/04/2009 11:16

Oh, And CONGRATS on the new babies! We're almost all popped now!

SpringySponge · 30/04/2009 11:17

Trista, you're doing so well. I don't know how you're finding the strength - I'm in awe of you for holding it together for your boys & for having enough clarity of mind to identify potential problems & take action. It must be the last thing you feel like doing - but it is the right thing. I think I speak for everyone when I say that showing such dignity & composure & we're all so proud of you & will be here for you whenever you need us xx

BB, I suddenly understand 'smellybum' now Your stretch mark circle sounds like it could be passed off as an unusual tattoo It's just a medal of honour for growing a whole person - all things considered, it's impressive that that's all you've ended up with. Almost like those 9 months of hell never happened

Carameli, my stitches did that & the MW described the wound as 'gaping' but said that it was still clean & healing okay, so she left it. & it does seem to be doing fine. Obviously, I don't know how bad yours is, but it doesn't automatically mean you need to worry Lovely name, by the way.

Auld It's just one thing after another, isn't it? Will the sleepover be rearranged? I really hope that Alex doesn't have reflux. xx

Irrelevant point - I'm watching This Morning & Nick from The Apprentice was on. Is it really wrong that I have an almost crush on him?

Nutty, so pleased that your tramadol is working. LOL that you're becoming the Jilly Goolden of pain meds

SpringySponge · 30/04/2009 11:19

Ooh, Nick's cooking now. He's lovely.

Bleuravin · 30/04/2009 11:20

Oh Springy, to have you libido!

SpringySponge · 30/04/2009 11:23

Bleu, I've BF in public a few times. I tend to wear a vest top under any normal top. Then you can lift the normal top & pull down the side of your vest top (& nursing bra) to expose enough breast to feed but still have the other side of your bra & your tummy covered. & if you put a muslin over your shoulder on the side you're feeding on after she's latched, you can sort of arrange it to fill in any gaps that are still exposed.

SpringySponge · 30/04/2009 11:26

In fairness, I'm not thinking about getting him naked. I just want him to sit & chat to me, making wry observations about the world.

Bleuravin · 30/04/2009 11:27

I was thinking that would work...does George latch on quickly? Meg and I still have a good 2-3 min of 'searching' for a latch and need to try again often...

Bleuravin · 30/04/2009 11:30

Mmmm I had a dream about that just last night with Hugh Jackman...it was very strangly intertwined with some sort of secret code in a briefcase

Bleuravin · 30/04/2009 11:31

maybe the secret code of getting my baby to stop crying on cue and latch on perfectly so I'm not in pain...

SpringySponge · 30/04/2009 11:32

Sometimes he does. Other times he just fusses & refuses to latch for a couple of minutes. It's not too big a deal though, as there's not a lot of boob exposed in the first place & even if he's not latched, his head is in the way. You'd pretty much have to look directly up or down at your nipple to see it (as you can, to get the latch), because your arm's blocking one side & their body the other.

Juwesm · 30/04/2009 11:35

We have just been on a trip to the doctors. Hugo has had funny-looking big-toe nails since he was born. They both seemed to be set down in the flesh of the toe like they were going to in-grow. We've been keeping an eye on them, hoping they would just grow out, but the right one was getting more and more red, and there was pus building up under the nail . GP poked toe with a needle (no tears! My brave boy ) and let the pus out, and we have some antibiotics just in case.

Auld - so pleased for you with Alex's sleeping. Has there been much interest from any of your house viewings? They seem to have been going on for ages now.

Soon2be - how's the feeding going today? Re: blood loss - I've always figured they just guestimate. Like in ER when someone bleeds out all over the floor and they yell '3 litres from the belly' or similar!

BB - stop with the lists of things to do woman! I firmly believe I have nothing to do. Cleaning etc can wait. The dirt is good for them. Though I'll let you off if it's ceiling repair stuff!

Springy re: "It's just a medal of honour for growing a whole person" - I am so highly decorated then ! I am practically a military hero! General Juw Fanjo!

I haven't examined my stitches yet . Anything could be going on down there.

SpringySponge · 30/04/2009 11:36

She'll get there, Bleu. She'll get more practised & have a bigger mouth & she'll manage it without a problem. You're doing so well to keep at it.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 30/04/2009 11:38

springy - why bother with all those layers when you can just get one of these!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 30/04/2009 11:39

or 2 as the case may be...

as luck would have it i have a spare....
