Hope no one minds I gave Nutty the vote after her epic birth!

no oddeyes - sorry if that was a confusing post - I meant my waters went with ds at 40+5 which is tonight in this pg - was hoping maybe this lo would do the same. no such luck yet.

sounds like you are busy but cheerful - hope things are going well.

OddEyes · 29/04/2009 20:55

yes, am good thanks - enjoying coping, mostly because am less tired and have pretty much had everyone to visit so life is falling into more predictable routine.
Ahh! this child has the most annoying habit of coming off choking mid let down and milk sqirts everywhere...

SpringySponge · 29/04/2009 21:13

BB - smellybum?! I also properly LOLed at your sex rationing

Nutty, I hope the pain relief works out for you xx

Auld No further advice, I'm afraid. I'm sorry it's awful. I hope you can get a paed appointment & that it's helpful to you xx Remember we're here to support you when you need some adult sounding off time.

soon2be, glad that you got a nicer MW. 6-7% weight loss is fine - it's often more for BF babies than FF. Make sure the MW is taking that into account if she's too concerned.

Happy anniversary Schulte! The bursting boob feeling is so weird. Mine starts spraying everywhere if he cries when it's full

(& by the way, I totally think that BB is mad - not because of the jaundice / waking thing, but have you read her lists of activities?!)

Actually, you know what? I've been getting quite bad headaches, but put it down to hormones / tiredness. Perhaps it is epidural related - it didn't even occur to me! Mine are more around the front of my head though - I'd imagine they'd be towards the back, perhaps like Nutty's?

Congratulations Bicnod! Great name

Boff, your MW sounds so lovely. Mine just comes & eats my biscuits

Great nicknames by the way!

Ooh, excitement for Meg! Yay!

Nice to see you MM - you've not been around much! Lucky most of us aren't needing cervix advice these days It's really nice that you're enjoying her

I did a little snort of laughter at BB's magical stretchmark. Are you sure you've not just scratched yourself or something? I realised today just how many stretchmarks I have on my bum & thighs - I've not looked at my body in quite a while. I think they've been there since I was pregnant, though

SpringySponge · 29/04/2009 21:18

conker, would you like a crochet hook to have a go at those waters? I hope the contractions become more regular for you soon - you must be getting really fed up.

OddEyes, good to see you I'm glad that things are going well for you - even if you do have squirty boobs

conkertree · 29/04/2009 21:24

oooh yes please springy - think i will be the last one left on this thread - wonder where satheresitting etc are.

i know its only 5 days over but really wasnt thinking it would go this long. sorry getting very dull sounding now.

soon2befamilyof4 · 29/04/2009 21:30

Oddeyes - THank you, that is really helpful.

WIth the sun thing, if we are lucky enough to get sun again tomorrow - which is unlikely as it has forcast rain. Can I put her directly in the sun outside? Do I need suncream etc? Her skin is VERY dry and peeling/cracking already - will this irritate it? Sorry, I think I think about things too much.

Headaches - I have them too and I am off to bed in a min as my head is hurting too much. Usual bedtime here is 12ish so this is quite early for me. I didn't have an epidual though - just gas and air. But thought it was worth mentioning.

TMI but I have had awful wind! it is calming down now but was AWFUL on sunday/mon but is def still there, just not as bad. Absolutly stinks!!

Nutty, it's normal. Or at least if it isn't I'm in trouble too You can sort of grab hold of it with loo roll & pull, though. Yum.

Going to quickly post now as DH is right next to me & I don't want him reading

conkertree · 29/04/2009 21:59

night night nutty - thanks for the advice. will see if dh is up for a bit of a massage.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 29/04/2009 23:13

re: headaches (tho not seen the original post, so this might not be relevant) but I've found that I often get a headache when baby starts to feed (and sometimes even when baby isn't) but in my experience it often signals that I'm not drinking enough water ( or other non-caffine drinks) and headache improves when I drink some water! So might be worth trying.

BoffinMum: Wow at your midwife! Is this an independant midwife? Surely you can't get that good of service with the NHS!

tristaleejac · 29/04/2009 23:55

Hi everyone

Congratulations bicnod

Auld I cant offer advice I'm afraid but you're doing so well, being so patient.

Thankyou so much everyone for your lovely words of support. It really was lovely today to read them all.

I've been switching all day between ok and wobbly. I managed to walk DS1 to nursery for the 1st time in months so that felt amazing. Then I had a detour on the way home to try and find a pair of jeans that would fit me. As I was in the shop, you know who, text me saying "How are you guys, I miss you so much" I replied saying we miss him too, and wish things were different. His reply to that was "I'm sorry I cant change a 14 year habit. My life has changed enough over the last week as it is, I can only do so much. I know it's sore but please keep me updated on anything. I miss Lewin so much"
I nearly cried in the bloody shop. I just want him so much. I don't want to be apart from him.
I do know that it can never happen while he has this habit, so I will stay strong, but my god it's so hard. Tonight I had to sneak through to my room, away from boys and cry for a few minutes, just because I'd felt it building up all day.

I've booked myself an appointment with my GP tomorrow to ask for help to get through this. Just the fact I'm so vulnerable mentally right now anyway, regardless of the situation with our relationship breaking down. I will ask to be referred for counselling. I'm scared that the mix of childbirth and separation at the same time could result in postnatal depression, so I'm taking precautions early. I need to be able to be strong for my boys.

Juwesm · 30/04/2009 00:52

Trista (((((hugs))))) - you are handling the situation with so much grace and dignity. Well done you for sticking by what you believe in. Sending you lots of virtual strength and resolve to keep you going, plus HobNobs/ Creme Eggs/ confectionary of your choice. Very wise to get in and see GP straight away - hopefully you'll be able to nip anything in the bud before it gets going. Good luck with that tomorrow.

BabyBolat · 30/04/2009 07:57

trista - it's testament to wha t a good mum and strong person you are that you are already dealing with issues that may arise (pnd etc) and I hope if I ever have to face a situation like you are that I am able to do it with such strength and grace! The wobbles will last a long time but they will get less frequent over time and one day there will be none!

Also sorry but you-know-who really annoys me - people give up 40-year smoking habits all the time so that is a bit ridiculous if you ask me! stupid man!

Nutty, LOL at silly string - completely normal!

Springy - NO it's a little patch of 5 short stretch marks like a circle - fecking beggering things! they are light pink so am not too worried but grrr at magical appearance! I have none anywhere else (well apart from old teenage ones on my hips) - I made the mistake of post-magical stretch mark finding of examining my body in the full-length mirror - BIG MISTAKE! Let's just say there was no naughties last night!

And smellybum nickname started in the early stages of pregnancy... nuff said!

Soon2be - have you tried olive oil for her skin - Kara had really bad skin and 2 days of that cleared it right up!

Nappy rash update - already much better - for anyone using metanium - dr gave me a great tip mix it 50/50 with vaseline and it goes on easier so no excess rubbing to irritate skin and soaks in so doesn't leave that grubby crap afterwards that is IMPOSSIBLE to get off (I made Kara bled trying to clean it off so dr could see rash!)

OP posts:
conkertree · 30/04/2009 08:24

trista - i agree with bb - well done for how you are handling it but agree - if he wanted to kick the habit, he could so think you are totally doing the right thing by being strong and waiting to see if he does the right thing.

bb- good tip about the metanium - its certainly a bugger to get off things.

had more tightenings last night - not much pain though so guess the one day left in April is not going to yield a baby for me. Ah well. I like May.

Carameli · 30/04/2009 09:02

Hi all, just popped in to say a quick hi as on dh's work laptop before he needs it for a while. Might get back on later.
Our wireless router is useless in our bedroom so looking to get another one that will have a stronger signal.
ALso my phone is not working so Lauren sorry for not replying to any recent messages you might have sent me.

We have called him Theo Laurence. He is a great little chap and doing fine.
I have a bit of a problem, my epsiotomy stiches have coem loose and started to bleed a bit last night so about to call mw's again.
has anyone else had a problem like this. I and a look and the wound seems quite open.
have to admit I feel a littel anxious bout it all.

will try to get back on later. Theo wants more food

BabyBolat · 30/04/2009 09:05

Carameli - lovely lovely name - so glad theo is doing well -
Afraid I can't help with ep stitches - would say you are doing the right thing though calling mw and getting them to sort is asap! Don't feel anxious - sure it happens all the time and they will just tighten them up again!

Conker - there is still time! There is still 15 hours to go...

OP posts:
AuldAlliance · 30/04/2009 09:10

Trista, you are being so strong and brave, you are amazing. You deserve better than someone who puts dope before his chance of happiness with you.

Conker, a May Day baby sounds good!

DH got home at midnight, found he'd left his keys at work, phoned me 37 times to no avail as all phones were downstairs. Tried to go to hotel, no room at the inn.
Finally woke me at 1am thumping on the front shutter. He was off again at 7:30 this morning.

DS1 was to go to his first sleepover at a friend's today, but friend has a temperature, so it's cancelled. DS was in tears, he is so sad. It's no fun for him with a yelling baby, a stressed mum and now the great event of his holidays cancelled.

Good news is Alex slept 10pm-5:30am, and is conked out in my arms as I type. Pretty sure I have another reflux baby, as he has so many signs...at least it's familiar, if hellish, territory.

BabyBolat · 30/04/2009 09:18

Oh Auld, the sleep will have done him so much good - so glad he finally gave in to it! Hopefully they will be able to fit you in today and help out!

What a nightmare re DH still at least he got there in the end!

Poor DS - Could you possibly have a 'sleepover' at your house and get DH to camp out in the living room with him (if he is home in time) - will give him something to look forward too!

Karahan is sleeping on me too and I just can't bring myself to put him down and get on with the many things I have to do this morning - he's just so cute! Nappy rash is getting much better - tis only his testicles that look sore now the rest is clearing up which is such a relief - hope it should get much better by the end of the weekend.

OP posts:
soon2befamilyof4 · 30/04/2009 09:26

Nutty - completly normal regarding bleeding issues. I have had it too. Not nice but I don't think you have anything to worry about. I have also had a couple of clots etc fall out while on the loo - I think it must be the position we sit in etc as it all seems to come out on the toilet for me. Easier than cleaning it up though!

What did you all find useful when you were heavily bleeding? I found all the pads useless and the disposable pants etc. What I really needed was like an adult nappy! I know that sounds awful, but it would have prevented several leaks for me. I must have gone through 10 pairs of trousers when I was in the postnatal ward for 24 hours or so! rediculous! I was trying to work out ways of using several pads at once but still kept leaking!

Another blood question actually. My notes say how much blood I lost - How the hell do they know? It was just all everwhere so no idea how they knew how much it was?

soon2befamilyof4 · 30/04/2009 09:29

Trista - well done for doc appointment. That is a very good plan, you are obviously doing the best you can for your kids. Well done for being so strong.
