Here it is ladies. Shall we start with a roll call like the efficient ladies over on April 2005?

Hey my mothercare care stuff has just arrived - dead chuffed with the Avent kit bag I ordered - it's a bit big but will be great for the summer hols.
Of course keep forgetting to time contractions - and have just worked out that all the clocks in this house are at different times. Can't walk or talk through them so maybe??
Dh has finally stepped in and taken dd off for a while and my mum is on her way over.
So if it's not labour I'm not going to be very popular.

logic · 03/05/2005 16:03

If you can't walk or talk through them then it probably is the real thing Cab! It's so exciting!

fashill · 03/05/2005 16:40

It's really exciting, almost feels like a race to the finish now!!

My last week at work

Had a hospital appt this morning and saw the head honcho who said he wants to see me next week for a vaginal examination and may want to deliver at 39 wks due to my high HCG level. Happy that baba may be here early but not happy I may need intervention. DP & I will discuss it further next week as all my questions came when I was in the car afterwards

Can't wait for everyones news!!

Preggars · 03/05/2005 16:58

Tab, I didn't know that about the Pineapple core! I'll get another one and eat that bit too next time!!

Been out today and bought the last things for my bag, following last nights strong braxton hicks.

Feel like my arse is now slight more in gear.

Was planning to spend the weekend with hub and DS at my Mum's in Herts, (am in Kent), but now I'm not sure whether to stick nearer to home, just in case. Although, they do of course have Hospitals over there too!!

18mumtobe · 03/05/2005 18:33

good luck claudia, cab and northstar hope everything goes well for you all.
thanx to those of you who responded about the migranes. had a really bad day today been in bed for most of it as feel really tired and dizzy due to migrane i think. thinks its prob coz have had a hectic weekend and its catching up with me now.
feeling real fed up now, and still got 3 wks to go. i think if i felt better then i would be enjoying it more but as feel really awful most of the time just want it to be over and done with even though im terrified of the birth.
going on a tour of hospital tommorow and having an ante natal while im there, hoping to hear that baby is engaged and things are ready to go, but thats just wishful thinking.
well hope everyone is doing well and that we are all going to have an easy time of things.

logic · 03/05/2005 20:01

18mumtobe, sorry didn't realise you were having migraines. I had them early on in the pregnancy and last time I had a really bad attack 4 days before I gave birth due to high blood pressure. Maybe you should get a GP to check it out...

tab · 03/05/2005 23:58

Sounds like it wont be long cab ,fisil and logic- good luck. Hope it is the real thing!! How are you doing nOrthstar.

Tinker, congratulations on finally being on mat leave. Try and take it easy for a few days before you launch into the tidying and cleaning frenzy!. By the way tinker and and logic - part of my reason for hoping for homebirth is that I found hospital last time so noisy and not very restful at all. Constant interruptions from endless unidentifiable people dressed in light blue pyjamas and other peoples babies screaming through the night! At least at home it will only be my own children and a limited no of people who I know. Sorry dont read that the wrong way. Even though Ive now booked in with midwife for homebirth, I still keep wondering if its the right decision and at least at hosp there's loads of equipment at hand and its good that theres loads of people in blue pyjamas Im sure! Midwife says I can go in to hosp at any time if I feel uneasy (and of course if any prob). It has been quite a difficult decision to make.
Midwife is checking me over tomorrow morning in any case and then shell make the final decision as to whether to give me the big cardboard box to keep at home with all the stuff in!!
I wonder how Claudi is doing. Thinking of you!

Oh 18mumtobe - you are due the day after me. 3 weeks does still seem like an age away doesnt it?
Hope tour of hosp goes well.
i thought baby might have descended a bit today - felt even more uncomfortable.
Night everyone - hope we all get some sleep!

Tinker · 04/05/2005 10:25

Know what you mean about noise in hospital tab but there were lots of empty private rooms when I looked round. Hoping, hoping, hoping I could get lucky and get one of those. Assuming all goes ok, won't be in much longer then 6 hours anyway.

Been having lots of twinges this am - but think that's because I felt very nauseous all day yesterday. Body, erm, "dealing with" an upset tummy

northstar - hope it went well yesterday.

18mumtobe · 04/05/2005 12:37

hi everyone,

hope things are going well for those of you who are very close.
went on the tour this morning, all seems ok to me. had my ante natal, everything seems fine and baby is still happy in there. found out im 3/5 engaged which is good news even though he could still take wks to come out.
well hope everyone is well
take care xxx

fashill · 04/05/2005 12:53

Gone a bit quiet today, wonder if that means things are happening!!!

Hope you're feeling a bit better 18mumtobe, you sound it

tab · 04/05/2005 14:16

Hallo
Oh its good that you're engaged 18mumtobe. Im finding it a bit worrying that they dont always engage until the last minute, second time around. Mine seems to have far too much room for my liking and his legs seem to have got very strong now!
Tinker- hope you do get a private room in the hosp and you're right you wont be there for long. I hope you're feeling better. Ive had an upset stomach quite a bit recently. I did think it was the iron tablets (having the opposite effect on me to most others apparently) so I cut down to every other day but had really bad running to the loo yesterday.

My midwife has checked me over this morning. Worried as there is protein in urine and has sent off sample for further scrutiny. But she's given me the homebirth kit to take home, so it cant be a big concern! Ive got this big yellow bag with loads of stuff in it - Scary!!

Brighteyes · 04/05/2005 15:05

just popped on quickly to wish Uwila good luck with the appointment tomorrow. Hope you get the consultant to agree the c section. Let us know how it goes.

Best wishes to all of you with signs of impending birth, nothing to report here unfortunatly. Think its time to try the pineapple's (getting impatient now and I'm not even due for another 11 days)

shhhh · 04/05/2005 16:01

Brighteyes I know how you feel, think we must be due to same time (sorry but got lazy pregnancy mood and can't be bothered checking pregnancy stats !) I'm due 15th May...I had antenatal apmt yesterday and advised that baby's head is fixed..whatever that means! Suppose baby is on route to get into the position she should be in?! It seems like she is content where she is and like you tab baby seems to enjoy keeping me quite hard, think baby is also using my ribs as monkey bars !
Have been on the RLTablets & Tea for about 3 weeks and eating pineapple (yup even the core) like mad for the last week or so. They only thing that seems to have change is the fact that i'm craving Icelollies like MAAADDD .!???? Not sure how this works at over 38 weeks pregnant?!
Hope everyone is well and hopefully it won't be too long for us all till our babies arrive.

18mumtobe · 04/05/2005 16:16

just thought i'd let shhhh know that ive been craving ice loolies for that last 8 mths.

fisil · 04/05/2005 16:21

I was expecting to find some birth announcements on here today ... but then again it is fairly quiet, so maybe everyone is in hospital giving birth right now!

Went for my 41 week appt this week. Baby is still buggering around somewhere near the entrance to my pelvis, cervix is "soft" but completely closed. Booked to go into hosp on Sunday evening. Pretty chilled, nice to have a date! With ds we were also booked to go in on Sunday evening, but he turned up early on Saturday morning. Also, the Dr was able to convince me that the baby is not undiagnosed breech (why do we torture ourselves with these worries?)

Getting really exciting here now - can't wait to see who drops first!

OP posts:
shhhh · 04/05/2005 16:30

thanks mum18tobe ! Just thought it strange that I have gone from no cravings over 8+ mths (unless you can call loving the smell of cement/tile grout & desperatly trying to refrain myself from eating it a craving !)
Fisil it is quiet here today ! Bet you are glad you have a date, at least you have a light at the end iykwim. Your bump sounds as lazy as ours!! Either that or we are making them to comfortable.??!

Tinker · 04/05/2005 16:34

Someone has got to get the 05/05/05 birthdate.

Brighteyes · 04/05/2005 17:10

shhhh, yes we got the same edd I'm also due on the 15th but haven't even had any braxton hicks contraction so I'm not holding out much hope of meeting my baby before the end of the month.

Your cravings sound as bad as mind Shhhh. For the last 5 months I've craved plaster and mud. I must confess I did give into the plaster craving, after having the nursery skimmed I would lick the walls and eat the plaster that had dripped onto the skirting board . Wish I just had a normal craving like ice lollies

cab · 04/05/2005 17:38

Got back home with dd2 at lunchtime today. Finally went in at 11.30pm last night, only 3cm dilated and our gorgeous new daughter (still undecided re name) popped out at 2am this morning, just under 8lbs with the help of a bit of gas and air. Wonderful care in the small local midwife unit.
Any news from anyone else?

Brighteyes · 04/05/2005 17:42

Hey congratulations Cab (almost in tears by here). I'm so happy for you. Its great that you're the first regular to have your baby since if I remember correctly you started the May thread all those months ago.

Best wishes to you and your family.

Maybe everyone else will start popping now you've got us started

Tinker · 04/05/2005 17:51

Cab - Congratulations on graduating! Wow. One down, several to go.

logic · 04/05/2005 20:21

Congratulations Cab! Given that you started the original May thread it's only fair that you have yours first. I'm really pleased for you. I bet dd1 is ecstatic!
