Here it is ladies. Shall we start with a roll call like the efficient ladies over on April 2005?

Cab what can I say..!! Congratulations, I just hope that my labour goes as straight forward as yours.! How did it compare to your first birth & labour? Being pregnant with our first I keep hoping that all is done within a few hours but me thinks thats wishful thinking!

Oh my god brighteyes, DH & I were nearly crying with laughter at your posting about cravings! I didn't want to say but I have sometimes given into them and at times when in the shower I have had a sly pick at the walls, the smell just over powers me and theres nowt I can do.! DH also caught me licking and trying to bite bits off a small teracotta plant pot we have in the house...I find it's at its best when its wet just after the plant has been watered..LOL the plant has never been watered so much . DH just thinks its so amusing! I have no idea why the smell of it (similar to mud I think) is so appealing !
I'm off now...not to have a taste of the walls or plant pot but for a FAB ice lolly..Have trid to hold off eating them today so it's now treat time.

Preggars · 04/05/2005 21:32

In a mad way, I am kind of envious of your cravings. I've not had any to report either this or my last pregnancy. I just go off everything the first three months, then I am back to normal.

I do however crave (but don't give in) things that I'm not supposed to eat, like smoked salmon (yep, I've heard it's supposed to ok if you buy it yourself, but didn't have it last time, so haven't again).. and would love to drink champagne, beyond just a glass that is, and, oh, soft cheese, blue cheese, peanut butter, shell fish, pate.. you name it, I fancy it. Won't be able to eat these or drink until I finish breastfeeding , so I still have a while to wait...

Mind you, DS1 coped fine with mummy having the odd glass of white wine whilst still breastfeeding.

Brighteyes · 05/05/2005 08:49

Shhh thanks for your confession made me feel slightly less crazy. When my sister craved chalk I thought she was nuts and just told her have a bar of chocolate instead. Now I understand what a real craving is, there could have been arsneic in the plaster and I would still would have eaten it I NEEDED it that much.

Would get rather amusing though when I would sneak off and dp would shout up the stairs "are you licking the walls again"

tab · 05/05/2005 09:10

CONGRATULATIONS CAB!! :O :O FANTASTIC NEWS! WELL DONE. Im so happy for you.

tab · 05/05/2005 09:11

Those were meant to come out as ,

shhhh · 05/05/2005 09:59

Brighteyes think we must have the strange & mad cravings as we are due the same date! Its bizarre how you HAVE to give into them, I haven't really craved any foods preggers except ice lollies over the last week or so...Like you I went off food for about the first 4 months even chocolate but soon made up for it! I seem to have gone back to that stage again over the last month and at the moment nowt is appetising. Seem to only be interested in fruit and lollies??

I only found out about my love for plaster about 2 months ago when our on- suite was being painted and we had to use another on-suite which hasn't been used much since we moved in about 2 years ago! It still had that new plaster smell!! It's next to babys nursery so thats my excuse to go in now & then . I then discovered the plant pot....................
Actually preggers I have fancied champagne & wine & although I plan to bf I don't think the odd glass or 2 will do any harm! Except probably make me as drunk as anything!!
Hope everyone is doing well today..?

miranda2 · 05/05/2005 10:05

OOOOh, I'm so frustrated!!! A week over now. Had high hopes for today - woke up with contractions, (but then have been having them on and off for 4 weeks so didn't get too excited), but no, nothing again. I haven't even got an induction planned for next week as I declined it in favour of monitoring as ds1 was induced and it was horrible - but now I'm wondering if I should go for the induction at 42 weeks after all (rather than waiting for 43) as I'm so frustrated! But then I think, whats a week in the big scheme of things...
Other complication is dh has paternity leave booked from next week as you have to give dates in advance...so I'm hoping htey'll let him change it, or he'll end up being off for up to 10 days before and only 3 after the birth if i go to 43 weeks!

PANTS!!!

logic · 05/05/2005 10:41

Miranda2, can your dh arrange some floating paternity leave? My dh has booked his 2 weeks starting from my due date on the agreement that it will actually start when I go into labour - I'm expecting to be overdue too.

logic · 05/05/2005 10:51

Opinions please: is it totally slobbish to get up, have a shower and then put on some comfy pyjamas to lounge about in for the rest of the day? It's the first day that my standards have dropped to this level .

miranda2 · 05/05/2005 11:23

That's what I'm hoping logic, but he needs to get it agreed. Shouldn't be a problem I HOPE
Not lazy at all - in fact quite remarkably unslobby to have the shower and put on clean pjs rather than just chucking on a dressing gown and not bothering!!

Tinker · 05/05/2005 11:25

Not at all. I'm still in dressing gown, about to have a bath. Did quite a bit of shopping yestrday - bad move. Thought I was about to faint in Woolies. I'm enjoying slobbing around because in a few weeks life will be very different again

logic · 05/05/2005 12:06

Nice to know I'm not alone on the PJs thing .
Walking too much makes me feel ill too, Tinker.

Wahey, Dh has got his boss to agree that he can work from home until the baby is born! Which means that I'm bound to go into labour today to not get any value from it. I can't lose!

Maddison · 05/05/2005 13:46

OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!! I haven't logged on for 24 hours and all sorts have happened - I vow never to be off the internet for any length of time again!

Cab - Congratulations on being the first, you must be so proud of your new DD - have you chosen a name yet? And well done for having such a speedy labour and delivery, I hope it happens that quickly for all of us!

Uwila - good luck with your consultant appointment, I really hope he/she comes round to your way of thinking

Re: Ice lollies - I craved fruit pastel ones for a little while at the beginning of pregnancy and NO other lolly would do - unfortunately for my hips I then really fancied Fox's Classics which funnily enough hasn't gone away! LOL at the plaster cravings but hey, you can't deny a craving

Weezle · 05/05/2005 16:19

Dear all,

Congratulations Cab!

Sorry for not posting for so long but things have been pretty busy for the last week .... baby Matilda was born by c-section as planned last Wednesday 27 April and this has been my first chance to log on to Mumsnet!

She is an absolute beauty and DH and I are over the moon and can't get over our excitement! Off now to put full details on the birth announcements page.

Looking forward to hearing about everyone else's arrivals!

Brighteyes · 05/05/2005 17:03

Congratulations Weezle. Off to check out your birth announcement

fashill · 05/05/2005 17:33

Congratulations weezle & cab. I'm so jealous!!! Glad you're all well x

uwila · 05/05/2005 17:57

Yippee!!! Congratulations to Weezle and Cab! So happy for you both (and )!

My consultant appointment went well. I am booked in for an elective caesarean on 19 May. All that fretting for nothing. Consultant wanted to book it for 23 May. But, I begged to do it sooner because I live so far from the hospital and I'm not at all comfortable with the possibility of going into labour before the caesarean. Anyway, I'm happy with the 19th.

Hope everyone else is well.

tab · 05/05/2005 18:04

Congratulations weezle. Fantastic news! Well done! WE're all so envious of you and cab for being the first but hopefully now you've set a trend and the may babies will remember their dates. Brilliant - Im just off to look at your posting on the birth announcements.

Maddison · 05/05/2005 18:09

Congratulations Weezle & family - I was wondering how you were

Uwila, I'm so pleased for you that your appointment went well, now you can relax and enjoy the remaining 2 weeks of your pregnancy without worrying

maymum · 05/05/2005 18:27

Congratulations cab & weezle - wonderful news!

fisil · 05/05/2005 18:55

Congratulations Weezle - lovely name!

Still stubbornly in there. Does this mean that none of us hit the magic 05/05/05?

OP posts:
Preggars · 05/05/2005 19:24

Congrats Weezle! Off to read birth announcements.

If not 05.05.2005, I'm aiming for 20.05.2005!! Mind you, I wouldn't mind being anytime now. Bags packed, and raring to go. DH said he wants to try the 'sex' way of bringing things on tonight! Not really in the sex mood though. Sooner have a bar of chocolate and an early night.

shhhh · 05/05/2005 20:15

Congratulations weezle. Me thinks i'm in for a long wait and endless phonecalls from people checking to see if baby has arrived yet!

logic · 05/05/2005 20:51

Congratulations Weezle!

cab · 05/05/2005 21:34

Congratulations Weezle - hope you're as in love with your baby as I am with mine.
Thanks for all the good wishes folks - and the plaster conversation - almost split my stitches reading those posts.
Finally decided on name - Suzannah. Re the question of the birth compared with first time - it was miles easier although I tore again where I had stitches last time. (sorry if tmi).
Must go, a wee lady is calling - shall be keeping my fingers and toes crossed for everyone.
