Here it is ladies. Shall we start with a roll call like the efficient ladies over on April 2005?

Hello ...its me again in the middle of the night ... my waters broke about an hour ago (all over the bed and now I am waiting for the contractions to kick in .... I can feel things moving ... but no contractions ...so different from last labours, anyway .... be back soon hopefully.

BYYYYYEEEEE

cab · 03/05/2005 06:37

Wow Claudi now that really is exciting. Hope you're doing ok.
Best of luck to you and northstar (and maybe Fisil?) for today.
I actually got a few hours sleep last night so am feeling more human. Hope everyone else is doing ok.
Don't know if you having to wait is good news or not logic?.
Fashill I've been told to go in/phone when contractions are 5 mins apart as a rough guide.

logic · 03/05/2005 06:43

Good luck northstar and claudi2!!
Waiting is a Bad Thing, Cab.
I have had enough.

cab · 03/05/2005 06:54

It's a bit of a rollercoaster isn't it logic - and worse for you after the scare at the weekend.
It's the not knowing when which is driving me demeneted (I'm the very impatient sort).
This is the first morning I haven't had a huge list of things to do so I'm happy for the baby to stay put for another day.

How exciting????? I don't think I will EVER lose the feelings of excitement I get when someone goes into labour.

Claudi2 - My waters broke with Ds at 3am. No contractions until 7am.... Ds was born at 3.35pm.

GOOD LUCK YOU LOT!!!!!!!! You're all very lucky... just think... you're going to meet your wee precious bundles face to face any day now.

I'll bugger off now...

welshmum · 03/05/2005 08:53

Hello ladies - I wanted to pop in from the June thread and wish you all the best for the month ahead - hope it all goes terrifically well with 2 hour, pain-free labours and babies who sleep all night

Tinker · 03/05/2005 10:08

Oh, good luck Claudia and northstar. How exciting now

Maddison · 03/05/2005 11:05

Wow, exciting things happening now - good luck Northstar and Claudi - I'm looking forward to reading those birth announcements, it will make things seem ever closer

Preggars · 03/05/2005 11:05

Morning! Claudi2 - did Labour start - any news? My waters broke last time, but no labour, so I was induced 24 hours later.

Thought I was going into labour myself last night. Tummy was have braxton hicks all afternoon, and I was even more uncomfortable when I went to bed. I lay awake until 1pm, when they eased off. As I was induced last time, it went from no pain to lots of pain, so I don't know how labour pains generally start. Maybe I won't be waiting for the 22nd afterall?

I'm off to buy cotton wool, maternity and breast pads today, so I can pack my bag tonight. DH said he won't be drinking now (as he'd been supping beer all yesterday in the garden)... he would have been worse for wear in the labour ward!

Preggars · 03/05/2005 11:06

Oh, and of course, good luck Northstar with the induction. If there's anything you want to know, I might be able to help (as been there, done that!).

x

uwila · 03/05/2005 11:35

Oh, we need an animated jumping up and down hapy/excited icon. I'm off to tour the hospital this afternoon. And my planned caesarean has yet to be booked (probably around the 20th is my guess). I should find out Thursday. I am soooooo of you guys.

BEST OF LUCK!!

fisil · 03/05/2005 11:38

Any news Claudi2? Can't wait for the birth announcement.

Ate a whole fresh pineapple this morning - the only result has been the runs!

Preggars · 03/05/2005 12:11

LOL Fisil, I ate a whole one on Friday. Once the core and outer bits are gone, there doesn't seem to be much left, or does there?

tab · 03/05/2005 12:28

Hi Preggars, sorry if you knew already, but you know that the bit that you have to eat on the pineapple is the core bit. The other bits dont help according to midwife I spoke to last week. I sent dh out to get raspberry leaf tea and he came back with fruit tea which I dont think is the same. Poor love - he was trying very hard and managed to get the other things on my very specific list.
Im supposed to be tidying up a load of papers. I must do it today. Our bedroom floor is virtually covered iwth a mix of baby gear, papers, washing, - I need a housekeeper for a few days to organise me. I shall carry on dreaming.....

Tab, I've spent this morning scrubbing our bedroom and ensuite because I had this sudden paranoia that I could end up with an unplanned homebirth. I would hate for the midwife to have to navigate around the toys and general stuff scattered all over the floor!

I am really impatient too, Cab. I hate the lack of control over the whole proceedings. I keep hoping that my waters will break but I must have membranes made out of kevlar . Last time, the midwife had to break them with that chopstick thing right at the last moment.

Tinker · 03/05/2005 13:33

I'd quite like an unplanned hoembirth. Still not "made a decision" but am persuaded by the "more likely to have a bit of a rest in hospital" argument. But don't want anything to start this week - first day of mat leave today

logic · 03/05/2005 14:17

I'm quite tempted by a homebirth too, Tinker - just on the grounds that I've seen enough of the hospital for one lifetime! They are not particularly restful places though. During the night I spent in there recently, I was kept awake from 2am onwards by a screaming baby in the next bay...

cab · 03/05/2005 15:02

Think I'm having contractions every 15 mins - wonder if they're the real thing or not. Having trouble just thinking straight with 4.5 yr old dd who's been almost glued to me since she got back from nursery - feel like running away, although I've finally managed to plonk her in front of a video. Peace.
Phoned the local midwife unit to check what stuff to bring in for the baby and they've only got one other person in, so hopefully, if this is labour, it should be nice and quiet tonight.

fisil · 03/05/2005 15:06

Sounds promising, cab!

cab · 03/05/2005 15:08

Fisil could just be bhicks - who knows. I'm getting a bit peed off now, especially if it isn't labour.

fisil · 03/05/2005 15:18

I've had the same several times - 7-15 minutes apart, lasting several hours. Really frustrating, isn't it? I hope this is the real thing for you cab!

OP posts:
logic · 03/05/2005 15:34

Drives you up the wall doesn't it? On Thursday night I was watching my contractions on the monitor and they were every 2 minutes apart at one point and quite strong and yet on Saturday my cervix was still clammed shut aparently.
