Here it is ladies. Shall we start with a roll call like the efficient ladies over on April 2005?

Now sitting with legs firmly crossed.

Brighteyes · 19/05/2005 13:36

Tinker I wouldn't care if my baby shared a birthday with Satan, Hitler or Saddam Hussein at the moment, I just want it out.

hollya · 19/05/2005 14:21

still here, now 10 days overdue! had a sweep yesterday and surprise surprise it hasn't worked. all it has served to do is cause me a lot of pain.

good news is i am 1 cm dilated and have a soft, thin cervix so when induction happens on saturday (hooray) it should work quite quickly!

tinker are you being induced this weekend?

Brighteyes · 19/05/2005 14:55

hollya I was convinced you had had the baby by now since you didn't post yesterday. Ten days OMG must feel like a life time.

I've got my first sweep tomorrow, not looking forward to it at all, heard from several people that its really uncomfortable/painful. Maybe induced tomorrow though if my bp is still high.

brighteyes every day feels like a week!!
good luck with your sweep tomorrow, it doesn't really hurt whilst she's doing it, but afterwards it really aches, like severe period pains. it didn't work for me, but hopefully it may for you. fingers crossed.
i'm so looking forward to being induced on saturday, at least i know when it's going to happen and because it's a weekend my mum and dp can be with me. am i sad having my mum with me?
also the really funny thing is that dp is going to miss the fa cup final!! ha ha

Brighteyes · 19/05/2005 16:08

Hollya, do you have any idea how long the sweep takes to work after being done?

hollya · 19/05/2005 16:14

not too sure how long it takes, i think within about 12 hours or so. i was definately feeling the effects last night, i felt really odd and was having loads of contractions, but this morning they've all but disappeared
i think this baby's just far too happy!

Tinker · 19/05/2005 16:18

Don't plan on having an induction thsi weekend. Going to hospital tomorrow to just see what's (not) happening. I guess they'll offer to do a sweep - worked last time so not over-bothered if they do. Have been painting my front door, hoping the stretching and squatting may help. It'll be left with just undercoat for months now I bet.

Good luck everyone. Not bothered about missing FA cup final but would be mighty peed off to miss Champions League final on Weds

Brighteyes · 19/05/2005 16:38

hollya, tinker, is it just me or do you also feel like these babies have no intentions of coming out. I'm not even getting any twinges

hollya · 19/05/2005 16:52

i know my baby has no intentions of coming out at all and is still growing! i'm really quite worried that i'm going to have a gigantic toddler! i asked my midwife how big she thinks the baby is going to be and she just said that because i'm tall i can handle a bigger baby! brilliant, in other words she thinks it's going to be huge!!

in answer to your question about the sweep brighteyes i just looked on a couple of websites and they said that half of women who have a sweep go into labour within 48 hours. maybe i'll just have to wait a bit longer and stop being so impatient.

Brighteyes · 19/05/2005 16:58

fingers crossed for you hollya, it might just work after all

Maddison · 19/05/2005 17:42

Hi everybody, hope you are all well.

Just a quick one to announce the arrival of Bailey Wilson he finally made a rapid entrance to the world on Tuesday 17th at 4:26am after a 2hr 11 minute labour and weighed 7lb 9oz. I will put it on the birth announcements when I get some time off from marvelling at my new son!!!

Brighteyes · 19/05/2005 18:00

Congratulations Maddison.

it seems really odd that sometime tomorrow i'm going to have my own! i'm really scared! just can't believe that all this waiting is soon going to be over.

Tinker · 20/05/2005 13:25

Ooo, it's all happening. Congratulations Uwila, Preggars adn Maddison .

Had a sweep this morning so shall see if that helps. Completely painless, I'm surprised to say. Am feeling periody and crampy so hope something happens this weekend. They have booked me in for Monday night to be induced though So, must get very active this weekend to bring it on. They did offer me Wed (Tues booked up) but can't miss the match.
