Here it is ladies. Shall we start with a roll call like the efficient ladies over on April 2005?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hello hollya. We both made it to due date then! Baby has been really quiet for 2 days and nights now so I am hoping that it is a sign. It would be lovely for your baby to be born today. I am slightly hoping for tomorrow because then both my babies will have been born on Tuesday 10th! I should go to the hospital at 41 weeks for a sweep although I'll probably just ask to be examined instead. My induction should be on the 21st too.

Fisil had her baby yesterday, details on the Birth Announcements topic...

claudi2 · 09/05/2005 09:36

hi,
just quick note to say i have resurfaced ... will post birth announcement soon, but have Clara hanging of my breast, and typing with one finger .... didnt really go into labour until next day ... but it was very fast 3 hours ... ouuuch ...but they kept me in hospital under obs for the strep b ... and it seems I had to wait for ages for claras results but everything is great

Havent read everything yet so bear with me while i read my way through 6 days worth of posts

Brighteyes · 09/05/2005 10:10

Big congratulations to Claudi and fisil.

Well thats 5 down and 18 of us left to go. Seems like they're popping out all over the place now

Logic your birthday sounds great, lol at your ds eating YOUR breakfast.

Looks like I will be having a natural birth at the moment (well as natural as you can have while taking any drug aviliable )

Midwife is still convinced that the baby is too big for me to deliver but the consultant still wants me to try for a natural delivery. Being assessed again next Tuesday if I haven't delivered by then. Only thing I'm really dreading is having to go through labour and then end up needing an emergency c-section anyway.

Preggars · 09/05/2005 10:18

Well done Fisil and Claudi!!

Brighteyes, good morning. How do they know your baby is big. This subject always fascinates me, as I haven't heard them get it right once. My SIL gave birth 2 weeks ago, and she was told her baby would be big, but he was 7lb4oz. On the other hand, a friend from my postnatal group gave birth to a wopping 10lb2oz'er , and hadn't been told at all, in fact, she had carried very neatly. Everytime they predict its a big one on the TV, it's often not. I just wondered how they know for sure! Also, friend of mine gave birth without stitches to a 9lb'er, and I need several for just a 7lb'er first time, so it's worth having a go isn't it.

Preggars · 09/05/2005 10:20

I'm off to have a cuddle with my friends preterm twins in my local hospital now. This is the friend that had them at 28 weeks, 4 weeks ago. I've heard somewhere that cuddling newborns can bring on labour, so as well as cuddles, I have a hidden agenda .

logic · 09/05/2005 10:25

Don't worry Brighteyes. Last week, my friend gave birth to a 11lb 9oz baby! She managed with just an epidural!

hollya · 09/05/2005 11:04

congrats claudi!!

logic i think we need to go down to the hospital and not move until we are induced!!

Tinker · 09/05/2005 11:08

Congratulations Claudi and fisil! Only one boy so far.

logic · 09/05/2005 11:35

Congratulations Claudi2!

Just seen my GP who reckons that I have another week to go.

Brighteyes · 09/05/2005 11:42

Preggars, I'm really hoping they are wrong and I have a little 'un.
The midwife is concerned because the baby is so long. She can feel its feet directly under my bra line and the head is fully engaged so the baby is taking up all the room aviliable. The midwife is also going on family history as she took care of both my sisters during a combined 3 pg's and all had to be delivered by c-section. The babies weren't big (6lb 2, 6lb 2 and 6lb 3) but my family are so small that none of them could be delivered naturally.

Add to all this dp is over 6ft and his mother has had 6 babies all over 8lb.

I'm not going to stress about it though, theres very little I can do about it now so I'm just going to see what happens.

Holly290505 Im due 24/5/05. Dont forget me!! Although Im hoping to be sooner 2nd time around.

Good luck Tinker. thinking of you and your due date. anybody else having any twinges or anything?

LittleB · 09/05/2005 16:06

Wow, I've been off just over a week and loads has happened. Congratulations to Cab, Northstar, Fisil, Claudia and Weezle - lovely names, must be wonderful to have your babies . I'm hoping mine is on its way, I've been having contractions varying from 2 mins apart to 1 hour apart since 3.30am Sat, went into hospital last night as they were consistantly less than 5 mins apart, but not dilated at all yet although cervix softening and getting ready, they think this is it, just may take several more days. They sent me home with a TENS machine though, which helps my back pain, although not lower bump pain, just have to wait until waters break or the contractions get alot stronger and more regular. Its frustrating waiting though. I'm logged on at the local library so can't get on very often but will be in touch when I can, good luck everyone.

tab · 09/05/2005 16:17

Oh good luck little B. You poor thing -its really dragging on isnt it. Sounds odd that they think its going to be another few days if your contractions had been that regular. How frustrating is that. I bet you were beginning to get excited/ (if that's the right word? Is it your first? , sorry cant remember. Thinking of you and hope it happens soon. Could try some of the recommended speed it up things - core of pineapple, raspberry leaf tea, hot chili/curry etc?
Your due date is 17 May isnt it? I hope it happens soon for you. Will be thinking of you.
Hope to see your birth announcement soon!!!! Take care.

claudi2 · 09/05/2005 16:17

Preggars · 09/05/2005 17:15

Brilliant link Brighteyes. I must admit, albeit a little personal, I had sex with my DH last Thursday to try and speed things up, and well, while he was asleep afterwards, I had strong tightenings for over an hour, 7 mins apart. They then stopped, but hey, if I was in the mood more often, it might just work. Don't think I'd cope with the other suggestion, keep gagging enough with nausea (sorry - being crude now ).

Thanks Holly for collating all that info!

I met very tiny twin babies today. Both a month old, but came preterm at 28 weeks. Wow. They're doing so well, albeit, in Special Care at this stage. Mad to think my little lady is much bigger already (they were only 3lb'ers).

tab · 09/05/2005 17:17

Thanks holly, Yes thread was corrected again from initial stats. Actually considering that there are still 3 weeks till end of may this thread is going to be very very long isnt it.

I vary between hoping that my mum will be around to dreading that she will be, come the relevant time. I want her to take ds away at the right time but I do not want her there while im in labour. If only you could timetable these things!! Its very frustrating isnt it - when youre trying to be organised about every other aspect - ie getting all the gear ready etc.

Anyway, lots of luck and thanks for doing and correcting list.

Holly290505 · 09/05/2005 17:36

Thanks for that Tab We have a complex situation because my parents went to live in Australia last Oct on the basis that dp and I would look after their house/pets etc whilst they were away for 2 yrs. Unfortunately my Mum decided she couldn't cope with being away for the birth so turned up unannounced to stay for 4 months expecting us to be over the moon. Plus we are paying all the bills so we now have an extra mouth to feed on top of the one we were expecting.

Don't get me wrong its nice to see her but its like being a kid again having her do everything round the house, treating us like kids (I'm 25. dp is 34!) and generally moving everything, cleaing everything etc etc. And i really wanted a private early labour just with dp as medical history means i have to go into hospital to deliver. Unfortunately now whenever i go into labour my mum will be there over my shoulder undoubtedly giving 'well meant' advice...

Add to this dp's mum who is literally round the corner who i get on very well with but who is very excited about 1st grandchild, is refusing to go further than 10 miles from our house 'just in case' (of what i don't know) and talks about the baby as if she is going to be a mum rather than a gran. IYKWIM. I just want to hibernate quietly...

Sorry it looks like your sympathasising led me to spill my guts on this! Am trying very hard to bottle it as its upsetting dp and I am trying to fend off any more major rows (between him and mum) before baby arrives Could do without it all really. Sorry for self-pity! Hope you're doing well - babies will soon be here

18mumtobe · 09/05/2005 17:44
