Congratulations everyone who has had baby!
I am due 27th May, seems so far away... Sigh,

What are we all doing to get labour started?

shhhh · 07/05/2005 09:53

Northstar congratulations !! God you were due 3 days before me (im 15/05) and i'm still here bump and all !!

Dabihp, I have been trying all sorts to get labour started but looks like this one is content for the time being ! Have tried: Sex, RL Tablets, Pineapple (LOADS OF) and it seems that everytime i'm a passenger in the car half of the roads seem to be missing so thought that would also bring it on (ie Similar to speed bumps).! Sadly not ! Any other ideas welcome !

tab · 07/05/2005 10:09

Congratulations Northstar and welcome to little Shannon Rose. Well done!! Im so envious. Keep thinking that something must be happening as babe bounces up and down on bladder but I know its too early still to be early - 2 1/2 weeks.

Bourght my r l tea yesterday and think I will try that today. Ordered an inflatable ball thing about 2 weeks ago, still hasnt come. Going to be too late soon.

Shhh, I know what you mean about going out in the car and bumps on the road. Its horrendous isnt it and I keep screaming at dh when he's only going about 25 mph!!
Good luck everyone. Its all happening now isnt it?! ! Who's next ....?

Tinker · 07/05/2005 12:17

Congratulations northstar! Oooo, it's all getting a bit real now isn't it?

18mumtobe · 07/05/2005 12:18

congratulations northstar, love the name very sweet.

shhhh · 07/05/2005 16:06

Yeah for some reason I seem to be V sensitive to peoples driving and although they may be the safest and slowest driver on earth somehow to me it feels as they they are doing 110 on a racetrack ! God knows why???!

Yes it is starting to become a reality now...our baby is due next sunday .! Time seems to have gone slow and yet again time seems to have flown.! DH can't wait till the arrival and neither can I but all I keep thinking about is the hurdle I have to face beforehand .
Hope everyone is well..those that are with & without bumps!!

fisil · 07/05/2005 16:30

Just crashing your thread to say congrats to northstar - glad to hear everything went well!

Weezle · 07/05/2005 17:06

Congratulations Northstar! It feels like things are starting to move along now!

Cab - really sorry to hear about your experience. Makes me feel pretty stupid for grumbling about sleepless nights caused by DD. She seems to be sleeping fine but makes all sorts of weird noises in her sleep and so we are kept awake wondering what she's doing, whether she's still breathing etc etc etc.

Uwila - this is my first baby and also my first op of any kind so I don't really have anything to compare it to. I had a spinal (which is like an epidural I think, but slightly different in some way which they explained but I can't remember now!).

The first few days afterwards I just kept taking the pain killers so I didn't really give it a chance to start hurting. Having said that, one end of the scar stayed swollen longer than the rest and got quite painful if I stood for too long or moved around much, but that seems to be getting better now. The only problem I have now is that I've pulled a muscle in my stomach - I think by trying to get myself sat up in bed to feed. Oh and there are a few small areas around the scar which still feel slightly numb but apparently they will come back gradually.

I have been taking arnica when I remember but not sure whether that or all the drugs the hospital gave me have been the main help! Good luck on 19th May - looking forward to hearing your noise!

Have to go now - a small girl is waking up - thank god as one boob is leaking like fury! Sorry if too much info .

Maddison · 07/05/2005 18:12

Aww, come on guys - if you aim for the 14th then I will raise a toast as we will be celebrating Reuben's first birthday! (he was meant to be here on the 9th dagnammit!)

Seriously, I am wishing you all good positive vibes XXXXXXXXXXX

Maddison · 08/05/2005 14:04

Hi everyone

Yes Myermay, I think baby doesn't tend to 'kick' much anymore - they are more just like subtle movements, sometimes I have to sit or lie down for a while in order to notice them, I still get enough movements in the day not to worry.

Well less than a week now until I'm due - the dreaded Friday 13th - and I don't know why but sometimes I feel really down like I can't wait for this pregnancy to be over . Does anybody else feel this way or is it just me?

logic · 08/05/2005 14:11

I hate it when people stare at my bump too. They probably don't realise that they are doing it though!

My baby isn't kicking as much at the moment either. Apparently that's normal at the end.

Sorry to hear that you feel down, Maddison. Not long to go now! {hugs}

tab · 08/05/2005 14:30

Yes maddison I feel really fed up. Almost resentful sometimes that its making me feel so uncomfortable! Cant wait. Seems worse than last time but then Im not sure that I can remember properly!! DH has taken ds for a trip to the park so im taking the opportunity to go and lie down for an hour - catch up later. I'll swap Friday 13th for 24th if you like Maddison. If only. I cant believe Ive still got 2 1/2 weeks. Still Still......
Know what you mean about people staring at bump. Quite often men do it - almost a look of why arent you confined , should you be allowed out on the streets? !!! Mind you at this stage, its probably difficult not to stare at our beautiful protusions.

Scary, but yes I have a positive story - a friend of mine had her waters break at 21 weeks last year, while we were out for the day...she went in, and was told if she didn't go into labour until 24 weeks there was a 50% chance of the baby surviving...we waited and waited (horrible time!), and she had a very frustrating time not leaving the house basically in case she got an infection, but she held on to 35 weeks when eventually she got an infection and the baby was born by cs. He was in SCBU for a week or two, but is now a big bouncing 1 year old with absolutely nothing wrong with him bar slight hearing loss in one ear. My friend continued to leak water all the pregnancy, but was told to drink lots as apparently you make it continually. She had weekly scans to check there was enough. They were a bit worried that his development would be affected as he had little room to kick, but he's fine.
Hope your friend is OK - there's an 80% chance of the baby being fine born at 28 weeks, so much better odds than my friend had!

Brighteyes · 08/05/2005 17:58

Congratulations Northstar.

Thats three girls out of three born on this thread now isn't it? Seems to be a bit of a trend going

Brighteyes · 08/05/2005 17:58

Forgot to ask, did you have a nice birthday logic?

logic · 08/05/2005 18:16

Lovely thank you, Brighteyes! Got brought breakfast in bed (which ds ate obviously ), wandered around the shops for a bit and then ate far too much chinese takeaway while watching Strictly Dance Fever. Dh got me a flat panel monitor which takes a bit of getting used to and has revealed the dust that was living underneath the old CRT monitor!

How are you feeling now? Are you still going for a natural delivery?

Preggars · 08/05/2005 18:53

Myermay - my friend gave birth to twins at 28 weeks - 4 weeks ago. They are doing fine, will be in hospital until most probably June, but they are fine. I watched at programme about pre-term babies the other day, and at 28 weeks, they give babies a 95% survival rate. Isn't that incredible. I was petrified when my friend went in to early labour as she was due in July, but so far they are doing incredibly well.

Congratulations Northstar!

Anymore news over this weekend? I'm due 2 weeks today, but am ready now. We only plan to have the two, so I'm trying to enjoy the latter stages of what could be my last pregnancy. My DH and DS are so excited about the imminent arrival.

almostanangel · 08/05/2005 19:09

I am glad it all went s well! Enjy your little girl!

Cngratulatins t all the thermay mums too!

hollya · 09/05/2005 08:57

congratulations to cab, weezle and northstar (seriously jealous)!!

i'm due today and am just sat here waiting for some action. would love her to be born today coz it is dp's mum's birthday, she passed away when dp was 11 and he seems to think it is fate that she is due today.

i'm with you logic, i'm convinced that i'm not going to go into spontanious labour. i'm booked in for a sweep (yuk!) on the 18th and will be induced on the 21st if nothing has happened. i honestly don't think my sanity will hold out that long!!
