Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pulapula · 27/04/2009 23:22

I think i should go to bed (feeling pretty tired). I have been having really bad BH tonight (and feeling sick) and DH is away in London from tomorrow morning til Weds eve so i'm hoping it is nothing more than BH, although i am lucky in that my inlaws live nearby so can look after DCs if something does happen...

Momino · 27/04/2009 23:23

thanks pula. am going to try to get some sleep. baby's wriggling around so not sure how comfortable bed is going to be. why can't we sleep when we've got the chance? or is nature training us to function on little sleep to prepare us for when LO arrives ?

Momino · 27/04/2009 23:24

cross-posted. good night Pula. x

Blinkin' eck ladies have just skim read the 10 pages you have filled today!!!
Lol at the BF sombreros and 'rabbit/dwarf' confusion! I'm sure to have weird dreams tonight after reading all that

I'm a bit confused. I have been told the head is down and engaged. Are you all having scans or is the midwife just doing something else? I live in Spain and have a scan once a week since 36 weeks. I'm just a bit worried that the head might not be down. It's our first baby so all a bit confusing sometimes.

Blottedcopybook · 28/04/2009 09:03

I haven't had a scan since 13 weeks here (apart from a private one to check the baby's sex). All my midwife does is palpate my stomach and just above my pubic bone to feel for a head.

chocolatebunnies · 28/04/2009 09:24

Hello Everyone

Sorry I've not been on for a while, as you can imagine things are a little manic at the mo!!

Haven't had chance to read through all the hunreds of posts but hoping everyone is well and good luck to all those giving birth this week! Don't think I've missed any announcements?

Im not going to be able to get on-line much, if at all, this week, what with wedding on Friday! Arghhh scarey!

We're almost all ready now, just little bits and pieces that need finishing, am a bit stressed out as everyone seems to think Im going to have this baby either Thrusday or Friday, wish they'd stop going on about it, if it comes it comes, theres nothing I can do about it!!!!!

So . . . . the next time I get on here I could well be a Mrs! If I dont get a chance to get online will be thinking of you all, could someone please keep me updated with texts on any news?

I have my phone with me all the time so can reply to texts!

Love to all of you MISS Chocolatebunnies x

Tummum · 28/04/2009 09:34

Hi Chica. RE: babies being head down, in general we only have scans at 12 and 20 weeks in the UK, so (as Blotted said) we only 'know' if LO is head down from the MW poking our bumps to figure out which way the LO is lying. If you are having scans that is the definitive way of knowing whether the head is down or not, so I would it take it for certain that your LO's head is down and engaged.

I am seeing MW for another blimmin. BP check and am going to ask if she could do a stretch and sweep at the same time... as my due date is in 3 days....

MissChocolate hope all of the prep is going well and ENJOY !!!! Take care of yourself.x

Hope Llare is doing OK and got some sleep tonight. Sending lots of VBAC vibes your way Llare.x

I'm off to the library to get some new books. Gosh, my life is soooo exciting. Almost as exciting as Saus and her doggy jigsaws...

frazzledoldbag · 28/04/2009 09:41

HI chocolatebunnies - was thinking about you yesterday and wondering how you were getting on. Best of luck for the wedding on Friday - and all I can say is make the most of every minute as it will fly by!
dandy I meant to post to you yesterday about your school thing - from what I can gather if anyone is going to be able to put together a successful appeal it will be you. Best of luck with it, but do try not to get too stressed over it (easier said than done I do realise). And as someone else said if you do end up sending your DD to a less 'good' school becoming involved as a parent govenor or similar is a brilliant idea to help facilitate change for the better. Anyway best of luck, let us know how it goes.
llare - fingers crossed for a successful IOL today!

Momino · 28/04/2009 09:44

morning all.
Miss chocolatebunnies, if you're still reading, hope you get things done this week without too much stress and worry. we'll be thinking of you on Fri, can't wait to see pics and hear about it.

tummum, go for that stretch and sweep! i've decided to go for it on my MW appt Friday. i think my baby's too comfy inside to come out and could use a jump-start of some sort.

frazzledoldbag · 28/04/2009 10:02

Hi ladies. I've uploaded a bump pic as my FB profile pic if anyone wants to check out the SIZE OF MY STOMACH. Good God. It's actually SCARY!
I have also added a selection of your mob numbers to my phone so can text with any news if/when labour decides to happen. dets didn't see yours though?

Reggiee · 28/04/2009 10:13

Think I've missed Llare going. Sending happy labour vibes her way.

Choc all the best for Friday . Only 3 more days!

How's everyone else doing as May is hurtling towards us?

We're not too bad. Ben is being a little sweetie at the minute - feeding well (sore nips though) and sleeping a lot (although not necessarily at the times I want him too ).

TMI alert
I, however, have hideous piles. This is waaay tmi, but I don't even know where my rectum is and the mw and doctor were appauled at how bad they were. I may need surgery but am hoping the prescribed stuff will work. They do however take my mind off the episiotomy and tear.

Birth story for anyone who likes the full on details is here

Have a good Tuesday and roll on Llare's announcement!

Momino · 28/04/2009 10:20

Reggiee, glad to hear from you and glad all is well with little Ben. does it all seem real?

i'm concerned about piles as i've got a huge one at moment and this is before the birth. I can't imagine what it will be like after the birth and wonder if there is anyway to avoid them getting worse. guess drinking water (which I'm not) is supposed to help.

I hope your prescribed stuff works so you don't need surgery and hope you're getting some rest! x

Reggiee · 28/04/2009 10:26

Thanks Momino. I think it's just about sinking in now that I'm a mother of two. I just can't get over how different the experiences of the first five days have been comparing my dd and Ben. Despite the really hideous piles, I feel emotionally stable (didn't last time), confident, and relaxed, which is all really helping.

Tummum · 28/04/2009 10:26

Re : piles my friend had this problem and ended up with surgery. My understanding was that it wasn't pleasant BUT the surgery sorted it all out completely. I had minor ones after DD2 and they did sort themselves out, but took a couple of months.

Belgianchocolates · 28/04/2009 10:56

Morning everyone. No new babies yet this morning then? Fi Oddly enough I dreamt that you had your baby last night. I can't remember how your labour went though, but I think it was OK. I hope it's one of those psychic dreams that will come true for you I don't know why I dreamt about you of all people though

Reggiee Glad you're doing well and enjoying being a mum of 2.

piles Not too long ago we had someone on the ward who had piles so bad she couldn't sit, they got better by themselves, but rather than being embarrassed she seemed to be quite proud of them and told everyone she met about her humongous piles

Miss Chocbunnies I'd been wondering how your wedding preparations were going. If we don't hear you before Friday: good luck and have a lovely day

chica In the UK we rely on the mw to manually feel if the baby is head down and engaged. If the mw isn't sure then she'll send you for a scan (which is what happened to me). Anyway so if you're getting scans then there will be no doubt about your baby's position. Of course it can change position between scans, but the next scan will pick that up, so don't worry

sausagenmash · 28/04/2009 11:06

Ooooh Reggie just read your birth story - how quick was that! Hope the stuff for your piles help, thats not a laughing matter..

OMG though, the last few pages, how hysterical! Reminds me of the time when I was a student nurse and walked in to one of my friends' rooms in the nurses home... the door was a bit ajar.... dammit, should have knocked. That was the day that I found out that a) she was a lesbian b) so was the other girl on our course and c) what ginormous dildoes were and did. Blimey. I was only 19, bless me.

Had another NCT class last night. We had to practice getting into positions and breathe through contractions, whilst a tape played a foghorn noise (honest) (to give us the length of the contraction) Dp kept saying 'ffs, this is silly' and was tickling me and giggling, but I said it helped, and he's a good massager (hint hint, do it MORE) We got fish and chips on the way home, which tasted like prawn crackers, as the chippy is next door to a Chinese. Hm.

Also, the lovely MW came round for the birth chat yesterday afternoon - dp was 'blimey, we've had 5 hours of baby chat today, hmmph' and I was 'get used to it mate'. Anyway, lovely mw was great, answered loads of questions. Am measuring 35 1/2 cm at 35 +5, and the baby's head is down (but not engaged, but apparently its on its way!) Heard the heartbeat which made dp beam, as he hasn't heard it since the 20 week scan, so that made him happy. Dp is also meeting mw one morning next week on his way to work, so she can show him round the labour ward. I've already done this ad hoc when I was still at work, and dp now wants a nose. (they stopped doing the visits as they were renovating the place) Its all v nice and relaxed, so fingers x'd the next few weeks will float by. (Hope NOT to spite my Mum and have baby when she is away. But you're right, ladies, it would serve her right. AND they're off to Hong Kong and Dubai, so its just not bloody FAIR!!)

Right. I should get showered and dressed and attack the puzzle!!!! (have got a massage this afternoon, am SOOOOO excited!)

Hope you all have a lovely Tuesday! Lots of thoughts Llare's way!

Belgianchocolates · 28/04/2009 11:14

Oh blotted I just remembered. My hen is cured! This morning she got up from her nest and hasn't been on it since. The keeping the door shut technique worked. Hurray

frazzledoldbag · 28/04/2009 11:37

detsy meant to say when I was on earlier - your tip for mixing milk with the clary sage oil worked a treat. Thanks for that!
(didn't get me into labour though and for that I hold YOU personally responsible )

frazzledoldbag · 28/04/2009 11:38

oh and reggiee lovely to hear everything is going well. Apart from the piles of course but fingers crossed they settle on their own very soon. I had them after DD1 and it was awful. They did go away tho. x
