Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Tummum · 27/04/2009 19:42

Frazz and Monimo can I join you in the "I'm feeling really strange and kinda hoping it might be labour" club. Feel really sick and back ache that is coming and going. I'm trying not to think about it too much as I have a history of wishful thinking myself into labour.

Typical that the one time I actually have gotten off my bum to cook, I can't face eating it. (It could, of course, be the eclairs from earlier )

So sitting on my bouncy birthing ball and wondering what to do next. Another bath maybe? Or panic tidy up of house in case 2 MWs need to visit tonight?! Owch, my back is hurting again. Sigh. I'm annoying myself now... !

Tummum · 27/04/2009 19:42

Also forgot to say, nice to hear from you DDaisy

Tummum · 27/04/2009 19:44

Oh, and Llare no advice to impact. Just lots of (((hugs))) - we are all thinking of you and you know you can do it.... (it being whatever you want it to be ). If it helps, I have listened to a hypnobirthing CD once and hosp. bag is definately not packed and am feeling distinctly under prepared. But I'm not sure we can ever be fully prepared for the unknown !

pulapula · 27/04/2009 19:45

emmabemmasmom- I will message you on facebook about the TENS. Not sure how much postage is but i don't mind paying to post it out if you are OK to post it back. I would only need some money if you used both sets of sticky pads as then i'd need to order some more. Just need to remember where i've put it now - might have put it back in the loft which will mean DH needs to get up there for a look which might not be for a few days. Not sure when you are due but hopefully we have a bit of time...

Tummum · 27/04/2009 19:45

No more posts now, honest

pulapula · 27/04/2009 19:46

Oh gosh, it's all kicking off now. Sounds like there could be some more babies in the next few days!

llareggub- good luck for tomorrow.

FiKelly · 27/04/2009 19:52

I'm happy that our lo does not come this week.. after the bank holiday will be quite soon enough so we're not still in a complete muddle!

Blottedcopybook · 27/04/2009 19:53

Gert2a Seriously, go get flour. This cake is so so easy to make and it's gorgeous :D

FiKelly · 27/04/2009 19:55

if I don't get another chance.. big hugs and easy birth vibes to you llareggub for tomorrow.

Febes · 27/04/2009 19:58

Evening all

I have taken all day to catch up with your chatting.
Dandy- That really sucks about your school situation. I would definately become very involved in you DDs school if she ends up at a less desirable choice. Parent gov. or parent help is a great way to be involved and help to change school for the better.
Our school had a rubbish ofstead 7 years ago and 18months ago got outstanding so schools can turn around in a short time.

monitors I have never used one even though DD was in her own room after 3 weeks but I think you just tune into them and I always wake if she cries out. We are now in the loft room so on a different floor to her but I still hear her. LO will be in our room until they are sleeping through and then they will go down to DDs room.

Momino · 27/04/2009 20:09

blotted, if i have the energy tomorrow, I'm defn buying flour and making a jaffa cake. thanks for the post.

kitchen fitter just left and has fixed the fixables and noted the faults that we now have to check out with Ikea. at least we can use the washing machine, dishwasher sink. those are the important things. now just for the shower to be fixed but plumber not coming to wed am. baths for me, i suppose.

frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 20:34

hi ladies. tummum and momino - I'm still feeling a bit strange too - sore back and very strong (am assuming BH) contractions every now and again. Generally just uncomfortable and quite sore, but at only 37wks plus 2 this would be seriously early for me (usually bang on the day girl here). I have however just devoured steak and baked potato with salad that DH made me so am obviously not too uncomfy to sit still and eat when required. It would be lovely if this was the real thing but I bet it'll stop in a few hours and I'll be all . Maybe a bath with my clary sage oil might help. Or maybe I'll try and remember where that reflexology point is on my ankle......if I can reach my ankles obviously!
[frazzle tries to reach ankles but only succeeds in pulling a muscle in her thigh] - oh how awfully elegant I sound!

Wonder if I can be bothered to go upstairs and pack labour bag just in case......or maybe if I don't it WILL be labour [ha ha, sod's law and all that?]

and did I dream it or has someone got a recipe for a homemade bakewell tart......drools.....i lurve bakewell tart......swoon.......

minimenace · 27/04/2009 20:50

Hiya, not had a chance to catch up yet but popped in to quickly wish Llareggub all the best with her VBAC after induction tomorrow.
Go girl - you can do it. Just don't let them keep you lying down strapped to a monitor - just let gravity do it's work !!

I have my first sweep tomorrow have increased my rasberry leaf dose for a few days and hoping that has softened things up ready !!

Hope everyone else is well and enjoying plenty of BH's ... duunno where mine are, hopefully I'll get some tomorrow evening after seeing the MW.

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 20:55

Evening everyone,

Both my parents have been hogging the computer playing the 'bubble game', so haven't been able to follow all the chat this afternoon and boy have you been busy

First off all llare good luck tomorrow. You'll be fine. No one knows what to do first time you go into labour even if you've read all the books. You'll be fine, just stay calm and do what feels right for you.

1stMrsF Thanks so much for that code. I had been looking for one, but obviously using a different website that didn't have that code you've mentioned on it. I haven't ordered yet, so I'll go and do that now I think.

All that talk of cakes makes me..., well want to eat some . I'm too sore to stand and bake though. Maybe after lo is born [hopeful emoticon]

Frazz Tummum Momino Sounds like there are some exciting things happening tonight. I hope at least one of you will actually end up going into labour and have a baby by the morning

momino glad to hear the kitchen man has fixed a good few of your problems. Taking baths isn't the end of the world if everything else works.

As for baby sleeping arrangements: ds was in his own room by 4 months, because he had started waking in the middle of the night and babbling to himself. I couldn't have that so we -kicked- -him- -out- moved him. I did bed share with him for about 6 weeks because he fed so often it was the only way to get some sleep. Dd didn't actually like co-sleeping, but slept in our bedroom until she was 2.5y. That wasn't out of choice, though, but necessity as we had the au pair in the 3rd bedroom and ds's room had his single and a spare double bed, so no room for a cot. We all had our own rooms when we finally had our extention finished.

I was reading up a bit more about nipple stimulation to get things going, as DH is away and so I need an alternative to sex to get things going . Somewhere they said you need to do it 3x a day for an hour . Can you imagine fondling your own breasts for 3 hours a day. That's just impossible. I think I'll follow the advice from the expectancy website to do it for 5mins either side a few times a day

Right off the the figleaves website to use that voucher code.

Belgianchocolates · 27/04/2009 20:59

Oh I forgot to say that I'm also greeted with the words "you must be mad" when I tell people I'm expecting baby no3. I really don't understand. It's not as if we're having 10 babies. That's mad And then generally that's followed by you're having a c/s I keep wondering why people assume I'm having a c/s.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 27/04/2009 21:03

llare I meant to say that I didn't do any antenatal or parentcraft classes before DD1 so didn't actually know anything about giving birth. When it came to it though, instinct took over and all the breathing and whatnot came naturally.

I'm very excited for you, schnuggly baby almost here...............

OP posts:
frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 21:11

belgian people say that to me too. Or alternatively they look at bit and ask 'and was it planned'? I mean, honestly, how rude. I've been married for (hundreds of) years, have enough space to accommodate another child, both DH and I are working......why shouldn't we? And even if none of the above things applied why shouldn't we anyway? What business is it of anyone? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Huff.

Even worse is the 'this one had better be a boy then'. It actually makes me wish for a third girl to piss them all off. Not that I am not delighted it's a boy, but DH and I couldn't care less (and in fact DH had a hankering for another girl) but you know what I mean.

God, sore back and still having BH. Am soooooo grumpy. And unattractive. And FAT.
Whinge, whinge, whinge, me, me , me.

llare good luck tomorrow honey. Will be thinking of you. (jealously, obviously!)
mini good luck with the sweep.
Can't wait to hear your news x

daizydoo · 27/04/2009 21:16

Hi there, just thought I'd pop in quickly to wish Llare all the best tomorrow. Hope all goes well and quickly for you. Looking forward to hearing news of your lo. Hope all the other people niggling start off soon - v exciting!

Dandy sorry to hear your dd didn't get into her school.

I am absolutely shattered and have been all weekend! Carpal tunnel seems to have got better which is good! Still snoring away. Dh is still moaning, but he managed to keep me awake the other night!! How are you feeling now Cote?

3 shifts left at work - hurrah! Ok I'm off to dream of all these lovely cakes I've hearing about, as I'm too lazy to make them...

frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 21:19

belgian snorting at the thought of 'fondling you own breasts for 3 hours a day'. Oh my god, how dull! Who on earth could be bothered?
not me
By the way, do you have a rabbit? Possibly useful in the [ahem] absence of DH
[snigger]

detsy · 27/04/2009 21:22

Hello petals - exciting that some seem to be getting labour vibes, all mine have disappeared

llare good luck tomo, you are right with what will be, will be - all i can offer is try to stay relaxed I had to re read someones post to you as I thought they had recommended you get into waterproofs (waterpool) after your prostin.....made me laugh out loud thinking about you sitting in labour in a big waterproof suit Anyhow big hugs and am so excited!!

momi why are you being induced - don't recall you being in the GD gang but can't rememeber why else?

I havaen't seen Ben yet as not friends with Reggie (can't find her...??) how do I do this??

Frazz glad DD is at scabby stage and feeling better. Hope your contractions keep going! Your monitor post made me smile as well as it reminded me of my Frazz mansions comments 100's of threads ago. moi???

Really cheesed off as an ebay shop said they had ordered me a jujube prepared in the colour etc that I want and i've been waiting weeks and now they tell me they only have it in black - grrrrrrrrr grrrrrrr grrrrrrr

Have a cough again and back to being a wee old tena lady keep hoping its waters that are leaking but don't think it is!!

SpangleMaker · 27/04/2009 21:23

just wanted to pop on and wish llare good luck for tomorrow. You'll be fine Belgian is right (of course!) - you'll just do what comes naturally and is right for you. For me, what helped (in this order) was being mobile/on hands & knees; breath control (I'd had lots of practise from yoga, but the midwives will tell you what to do); and positive thinking - every contraction is one you'll never have again, and one closer to meeting your baby.

Good luck again, can't wait to hear how you get on & see pics of your LO xx

detsy · 27/04/2009 21:25

Would a rabbit work - i was thinking this today - do orgasms help push labour along or do we need sperm hormones?

Blottedcopybook · 27/04/2009 21:25

Frazz I posted a recipe for bakewell cake on my blog yesterday but it's not a tart - it's still very very good though!

Also, I choked when I saw you asking Belgian if she has a rabbit. It took me a good minute to think, "A rabbit? What? Is this linked to pets being good for your relaxation, stroke your rabbit for a while and go into labour? How weird I've never OH MY GOD SHE MEANS A BATTERY OPERATED BOYFRIEND"

frazzledoldbag · 27/04/2009 21:27

oh god blotted pmsl at 'battery operated boyfriend'....never heard it called THAT before!!!!!!!!! hahahaha

Blottedcopybook · 27/04/2009 21:29

Also, if one more person says any of the following to me again I'm going to punch their lights out -

Four?! You're going to have your hands full!

Four?! You don't look old enough

Four?! Well there goes your career/social life/sex life

Or my favourite, dished out by a wee Granny in the Doctor's waiting room today:

Four?! I bet you pish yersel' every time ye cough, eh hen?
