Well done Reggiee Congratulations - How lovely to be home so quickly too.

gorgeous pics of Matilda - Well done Looby.

Can I be a complete div and ask what the tube is for ... sorry

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 20:48

minimenace when you say tube do you mean Ventouse?

minimenace · 24/04/2009 20:50

Fikelly I mean the tube that little baby Matilda has in her nose, just wondered if it was to help her breath or something ?

Blottedcopybook · 24/04/2009 20:57

minimenace I'm guessing it's to help her feed if she's having trouble breathing. I believe an oxygen tube would sit under her nostrils and go over her ears but in a baby so small I am fully prepared to be wrong.

llareggub · 24/04/2009 21:03

Babies, babies everywhere! How exciting! Congratulations Reggiee! Can we see photos soon?

We've had a stressful evening. DS is back from his grandparents but has some sort of vomiting bug. So far we've had to wash 2 changes of clothes, our sofa covers, and my clothes. I am willing to bet that this baby will pick this evening to come, now that poor DS is ill. He doesn't know what has hit him I think, since he hasn't been sick since he was about 6 months old, bless him.

Watching last night's Grey's Anatomy right now and drooling...

minimenace · 24/04/2009 21:09

thanks blotted it's good to find these things out here rather than be alarmed at a later stage.

I guess feeding tube makes more sense
hopefully belgianchocs will be along shortly to explain how it works.

flippineck · 24/04/2009 21:15

Reggiee - very many congratulations! Glad to hear that you are at home. Looking forward to hearing more when you're ready.

jael - welcome back, I'm glad that you're out of hospital and that it's not mini-strokes. MRI doesn't sound fun but very pleased about results.

I've finally gotround tohaving a quick look at the FB photos - lovely to see the new arrivals!

Sorry, not managed to catch up with all the rest of the news, DH is expecting conversation from me tonight!

All ok here, got periody back ache but nothing exciting happening.

Tummum · 24/04/2009 21:17

Reggiee Fantastic news - well done you 2 hours... yowzer ! At least it was all over quickly I suppose.

And yes, I am of all of the new arrivals. I want to meet mine ! I am having more of those period-y type pains again so I hope I can actually get some sleep tonight. The good news is that my headache has finally shifted so I will be acquainting myself with my duvet very soon, with snoring DH relegated to the spare room

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 21:25

llareggub sorry to hear your ds is so poorly.. I hope it's just a 24hr thing.

I'm not sure exactly what matilda's tube it for.. but food seems likely to me as looby said she was hoping to establish bf soon.

have I missed the 1st episode of a new series of grey's anatomy? what channel was it on?

detsy · 24/04/2009 21:29

Hello ladies and huge congratulations to Emma and Reggie both quick births as well which is encouraging Can't wait to see pics and glad you are both okay, well done girls!!

Finding it hard to believe that it will be me with a teeny tiny again soon - god how exciting is this becoming??!

Jael brilliant news for you as well, glad the results are better than mini strokes and fingers crossed it may all go away once LO is here

Choco have a FAB day tomorrow - it is tomorrow isn't it>..???

Blotted hope your neck is calming down

Think I've caught most people - apols if I have missed anyone out xx

llareggub · 24/04/2009 21:29

fikelly I'm really sorry but Grey's has been back on Living for aaaaaaaages. It is really good too!

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 21:37

ah llareggub that explains it.. I don't have living just free view so will still have to wait for it to eventually come onto channel 5.

divedaisy · 24/04/2009 21:49

Hi Gals,

I got out of hospital this afternoon - no baby in my arms as yet!
BP had gone up quite a bit to ?/101 at one point with swollen feet/lower legs and trace protein. But with a bit of rest the protein left, my swollen feet have gone down a bit and the BP has settled to around ?/85 -?/90 which they are happy with.
I spoke to the Registrar this morning about my anxieties regarding my neck condition and the fact that noone is giving me a plan of action based on what the consultant anaesthetist had told me about getting time to ensure an epidural is working in the off-chance I would need an ecs. The reg examined me and did a sweep - 1cm dilated this morning and I have been having period type pains today... But my definate 'news' is that I see the consultant on Wed to be given a day to go back in for an induction, provided of course I don't go myself before then!

Good news on Looby, Emma and Reggie!

I am going to bed now as although I did sleep very well in hosp i am very tired at the moment. It was DH birthday yesterday so tonight ds & I took him out for an Indian meal - I ate chillies with EVERYTHING!! And I am a bit sore after this mornings poking and sweeping! THe things that get done to you after your shredded wheat!!!

divedaisy · 24/04/2009 21:54

Jael - glad to hear your news too. MRI's are very noisy and claustrophobic - YUCK! But at least it's done now and a diagnosis has been made that can settle your worries...

FiKelly - meant to say I got the moses basket sheets! Thanks very much - you're astar.

I don't know if I'll ever catch up on the last 10 or so pages... will tag along for the time being...

Glad to be back here... I did try to use my phone to go online but couldn't figure out how to get on to MN even when I'd done my p/w thing 3 or 4 times.. Gave up in the end - just hope the internet connection onmy phone is stopped!! can't find the 'off' switch!!!

flippineck · 24/04/2009 22:02

Hello again divedaisy, good to have you back. Glad BP has settled down, and hope appt with consultant is productive - although who knows what will happen before then!

Right, daft question alert: all this talk of curry getting things going - does it have to be indian curry (ie a combination of certain spices) or can it just be anything really hot? Will do indian if necessary but would prefer thai or mexican!!

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 22:02

divedaisy lovely to hear you're back in your own bed for the moment.. do you have a note of our mobile nos from fb? if you're not able to MN from your phone you could text one of us. I've been updating looby via text with our new arrivals as she's still in hospital and wanting to still hear our MN news..

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 22:04

meant to say how exciting that you're 1cm dilated too..

FiKelly · 24/04/2009 22:08

ok.. I'm now feeling really worn out and got to say night night. xoxox sleep well everyone and will catch up with you all again tomorrow

Belgianchocolates · 24/04/2009 22:09

minimace Blotted was right. The tube in baby matilda's nose is called a 'nasogastric tube'. It's a feeding tube. If baby Matilda has what I'm suspecting then they'll want her to keep her strength for getting her breathing sorted and in the mean time they'll feed her via the tube. That way she conserves energy and doesn't use all her energy trying to feed, because that would make her breathing problems worse. Once her breathing has settled and she is able to take all her feeds orally they'll remove the tube. Babies don't tend to like them and who can blame them. It's amazing how good some of them are at hooking their finger on the tube and pulling it out . Newborns are amazing little creatures.

divedaisy good to see you back. Happy to hear that your bp has settled. Maybe it's the rest that's done it?

llare hope your ds gets better soon.

My mum is terrified of our cat. She's the smallest cat and so incredibly placid. Not scary at all. Anyway as soon as the cat even looks at her she screams at her and starts throwing magazines. Of course that made the cat all jumpy tonight and she ended up biting and scratching ds. I've told my mum not to do that again. I mean, if you behave like that towards the cat obviously you'll be more likely to get scratched. Poor ds became the victim.

Belgianchocolates · 24/04/2009 22:12

fi I think the whole point of eating a curry is that it has to be a hot one. So I don't think it matters where it's from. From what I know they say a hot curry, because, well everyone knows what happens to your bowels when you eat a hot curry and that might make you go into labour.

Oh well. Bedtime now. Had a busy day today. I'm going to enjoy having the big bed for myself again. The bestest thing about DH working away at the moment is that I can get out of bed from his side, which is closer to the toilet. How sad am I

llareggub · 24/04/2009 22:24

Thanks Belgian. I've just been up to check on him and I can't believe how big he is now. It really brought it home to me that I'll soon have a baby in the house and that my first baby really isn't one anymore.

I've been feeling very tearful by all these birth announcements. Isn't it lovely?

divedaisy I'm 1cm dilated too, isn't it exciting? I keep trying to imagine what further dilation might feel like, but stubbornly nothing much is happening apart from the odd tightening.

Momino · 24/04/2009 22:25

hi all. about to go to bed. like the others I'm partially about the lovely babies arriving. the other part of me wants to delay it though as I'm so nervous. guess there's no other way round this situation (nervos).

though i had a long nap today, am going to bed now.

sausagenmash · 24/04/2009 22:29

WOW, all these babies!! Congrats to emmalinac and reggie!!! FiKelly, am like you, am sooooo - although am only 35 +2, so a bit of a way for me yet. Have been getting funny stabby pains though - like someone is shoving a knitting needle up my lala - and getting out of a chair is nigh on impossible now. Pah.

Gaaaaaaah heartburn - need milk, gaviscon etc etc etc.

Am kneckered after long drive to Wiltshire - always astounds me that it takes me over an hour to reach the M4 from where I live in south London, even when its not rush hour. Ugh. Still, I have finally booked myself a massage for Tuesday afternoon at some beauty treatment gaff in swanky East Dulwich, so am V V V excited!

Grumpy - was it you who asked about the evil puppy puzzle? Ggrrr. Some of them look SO smug, with their silly little noses and tongues and everything. Pah.

Oh and btw - I emailed both polony and andrina the other day, and got replies - both are well, but have been incredibly busy. Andrina's baby is due next week, and would look forward to a London meet up again sometime with babies in tow! Polony keeps meaning to come back and chat, but has been doing all the baby stuff ordering online, and then her brain gets all baby addled, and then there's something else to do etc etc!! She's very excited that babies are starting to come already.

Gaaaaaaaah I need something for this heartburn, gotta go. Night all xx

divedaisy · 24/04/2009 22:35

Fi - I'l look on fb tomorrow and give you my mob no too. I'm away to bed ladies - very periody painy at the mo... so will catch all the sleep I can get! Who knows when I'll need to be alert and energetic!!!

llareggub - race you!!!

rosielady · 24/04/2009 22:57

Reggie congratulations and well done! - my word all these quick births - and not one past 40 weeks yet!

Jael really glad about the hospital results for you - not great but much better than a mini stroke and like others have said - it may well get a lot better once you have given birth.

one week left for me til ML looking forward only because i can nest a bit and get closer to meeting LO
