Spangle - what a great story! Love the throwing up over the bath bit - sounds like a thing I'd do!

MrJael - thanks for letting us know - hope it all works out ok!

Belgian - oooh poor you - hope baby works his/her way around soon!

Am still at work, manically finishing things - last day tomorrow, and I have a huge busy clinic, so God knows when I am going to do the clinic letters from that! Eek! I am handing over to the allergy nurse (also v gd friend) as manager not in tomorrow, and they haven't even advertised for my replacement, let alone got someone in! Bloody NHS!

Have a good meet up tomorrow, Londoners!

pulapula · 16/04/2009 18:19

Evening all. Just one more day in work tomorrow. I'm sure i will be busy tidying my desk and stuff, although i've already arranged to go in for a couple of hours in a week or so to finalise staff reports.

I feel a bit bad though because not only am i not being replaced, but someone else is leaving the team and it doesn't look like they are being replaced so we will be leaving 3 people to do the work of 5, and i feel bad as they are all friends as well as colleagues.

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 19:50

Spangle great birth story.. just reading it got me all choked up! I hope I get to 8cms without major pain relief..

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 19:53

off to read the last few pages again as can't remember it all! in the bed already on phone again.. totally shattered.

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 20:29

mr jael thanks for the update and hope your lovely lady is feeling better v soon .

daisydoo truly superb news about your mum my mum has been through operations and chemotherapy 3 times since 1997 and has now been totally clear since 2005. it's such a relief..

Momino · 16/04/2009 20:31

i'm finally sitting down after walking dog, picking up girls, going to the corner shop for some rubbish supper food for DDs because the man who is ripping up our kitchen floor for re-laying came 30 min early, finally getting DDs in bed by 8pm and now sat down. phew.

llareggub, wow! if possible, let us know what is happening.

sausage, pula, and anyone else finishing work: happy last work day! hope all goes well and you can relax soon.

ReeBee · 16/04/2009 20:31

good luck belgian, hope everything goes well.

Also llare, fingers crossed that you hold on a bit longer - and manage to get your bag packed.

Momino, I did know you meant me (to be honest with my real name I've pretty much heard everything anyway!)!

Spangle just to add to everyone else's comments - what a great story and also how very reassuring to hear from another first-timer.

Can't believe that so many of us have May birthdays and May babies - and are hoping that these don't coincide - clearly, a lack of foresight and planning last summer, ladies!

LoobyLou36 · 16/04/2009 20:31

Have just been out for a meal with DH, PIL and DSD. Have said that we'll keep them informed about what's happening on Sat/Sun

Am now sitting in front of a roaring fire watching Kirsties Homemade Home and will now try expressing into syringe no. 3. Going to give it a rest after tonight tho in case I'm too sore for LO when he/she arrives. I figure 3 syringes are better than none

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 20:35

llareggub if anything does kick off tonight good luck and hope you and looby have now got your bags packed!

LoobyLou36 · 16/04/2009 20:45

not packed mine yet - that's my plan for 2moro
and listening to my hypnobirthing cd a couple of times and trying to chill out and relax

FiKelly · 16/04/2009 21:05

I was watching kirsty too.. but now going to have a go listening to cd.. with lights on! maybe i'll actually find out what session #2 says.. will let you know how i do

divedaisy · 16/04/2009 21:29

Oh so much happening on page 22!

tummum - glad you and dh had a good chat and that you have found a way forward! Great news.

emma... - hope the mw gives you the go-ahead! what would happen if you gave birht at home because it happened so fast- would she rush around and do a H&S check and announce if you are allowed to give birth??!!!

re Pethidine/Diamorphine chat - I had pethedine with ds becausee the anaesthetist had to run off to see to an ecs just as she was starting to prep me for my epidural. I asked for pethedine to tide me over until I got my epidural. While the drug did it's job I am definately NOT having it this time - I was so fuzzy and spaced that I hardly remember the birth at all, and ds had to go to SCBU due to breathing difficulties - he was grunting.

momino - good luck with the lady garden - I tried last night - god only knows what it looks like now!! No amount of contorsion and mirror placement enabled me to see what I was at! At least I didn't cut anything off...!!!You could always do the heart with the lightening bolt through it!!!!!

daizydoo - that's fantastic news about your mums treatment.

spangle - what a fantastic birth story!! Loved the imagery of you with you waving your bum in the air like you doon't care!!!! Sounds like a thread title I know....!!!

Re throwing up - that happened to me too. When having ds I had a notion for a Polly Pineapple (or a Pear Picking Porkey) ice lolly and persuaded the mw to let me have one - after all it's only flavoured ice!!?? And while I was pushing I was also throwing Polly Pineapple/P. P. Porkey up! Funnily enough it was commented on that the throwing up was very effective pushing! Though not recommended! It also got the stupid annoying MW i had into trouble...

llareggub - go and get that bag packed NOW!!!! Wow! Things are hotting up on this thread - can you pass some of the movements across to Ireland please....???

dandy - LOL at how you got those men to really move it!!!!! I can see the shock and fear on their faces!! I bet it was their record breaking attempt at getting that furniture erected!!

OK onto page 23!!

divedaisy · 16/04/2009 21:34

OK I need to get the ironing done, get a cuppa tea, take my rasp tablet, the iron tablet and some co-codamol. Then try to get to bed at a reasonable time...

detsy · 16/04/2009 21:35

My goodness you miss a day on here and all hell breaks loose!!

llare looks like things are afoot for you - get some rest girl whilst DS is on a sleepover. Keep us posted if you get chance, big hugs and lots of good birth vibes being sent your way xx Also big giggles about the torchlight experience

belgian poor sausage - know you're not able to read this but hope all turns out well and LO decides to turn around and behave v soon.

Jaels other half so kind to post, hope the scan has been done and that your minds can be put at rest. Love to Jael from us x

Spangle lovely birth story - you did v well to get to 8cm with no pain relief and am v pleased with your assertion - will be taking some of that with me this time as I also got put on back for monitoring against my wishes. WIll FB or text re visit as well!! xx

looby am sooo excited!!!

Pethidine - hate it - for me just made me feel out of control (like being v v p*ssed and out of it but still able to feel all the "discomfort") Says NO THANKS in big letters on my birth plan

Bags are almost packed and feeling much more organised as a result. Walking is v difficult at the mo - feels huge pressure low down and like someone else described it feels like LO is channeling his way out

Hitting shops tomo for last minute bits

fi re wardrobes - it was Belgain and I. I know you are quite far south so unsure about delivery charges etc. The company that I finally used are called gliderobes.co.uk - they also provide the inners to match/line up with your doors and were by far the cheapest I could find. There are 2 other companies - spaceslide and sliderobes, I think its sliderobes are top end - quoted me £3k for a basic wardrobe with v standard interior but they will come out and design it etc (should hope so for that price!! Spaceslide were a good price but as I was about to order the y increased prices by 33% so same as B & Q. Service etc from gliderobes is excellent tho this is predominatly a DIY system - hope that helps??

Hope not missed anyone out - apols if i have!
Talk soon xx

Momino · 16/04/2009 22:03

kitchen floor now ripped out and a strange grey-green cement smoothed on it in preparation for the new floor. am very happy about the new kitchen but the smell of ammonia is gagging (we have windows open) and the appliances can't go in until new floor down either Saturday or Monday. that means no cooker so takeaways for the next few days. should I just have curries to try to get things jump-started [hmm?].

wonder how belgian, jael are doing. looby, not long now!!!!
llareggub, you ok?
detsy, know what you mean about low pressure and walking. i sometimes have to stop and gasp as baby moves. though mine hasn't engaged yet, still feels low.

pethidine/meptid, think i'll give both a pass as well. got sick on Meptid for dd1's birth.

am going to bed now. am sure by the time I get back on MN, there will be a few filled pages and at least one baby arrival . sleep well all.

SpangleMaker · 16/04/2009 22:19

thanks all for the positive comments about my BS. I did laugh when I saw the thread title, brought back memories

dandy LOL at delivery men. I remember years ago DH being freaked out a customer came in to discuss a new kitchen on her due date. I reminded him babies rarely pop out with no warning (not sure if that's a bad or good thing!)

daizydoo great news about your Mum,you must feel more relaxed about things.

llareggub hope you're ok this evening & that things get going for you if that's what you want.

mr jael thanks for updating. Hope Jael is ok. It's all been very scary for her.

detsy I'll wait to hear from you. BTW Sunday's out i'm afraid, BIL/SIL + nieces PLUS step-sis & DP visiting, hopefully not at same time.

Been a bad mummy tonight - H had 2 feeds in 2 hours so reckoned I'd be safe to have a glass of wine.... then he decided he wanted more & is now zonked out asleep on DH. Hopefully from having a full tummy, not the wine

pulapula · 16/04/2009 22:37

spangle- when I had DD i HAD to have a glass of wine every night - i found those first weeks very difficult...With DS I would express for his 10pm feed and that meant i could have a glass of wine in the evening.

I've been a bad mummy - i was too tired to do much today, so we all stayed in, and i didn't even get the DCs (or me) dressed . At least they have the excitement of Centerparcs next week...

sophietom · 16/04/2009 22:52

jennster thanks for the offer to copy the cd- if you can get it to work I'd love a copy- thankyou!
I hope jael and belgian are both ok in hospital
spangle thanks for posting your birth story- it's so reassuring to read a real account
gert2a I hope baby turns for you, fingers crossed
Right- bed and book time methinks, night all x

Jennster · 16/04/2009 22:59

sophietom I think I got it to work. Just need to copy the notes to go with it now. Fingers crossed I make to aquanatal. Also had my NCT one to one tonight with the teacher who did the course I went on with dd. She has since trained as a hypnotherapist which she does on the side of the NCT, and is localish to where we live.

chocolatebunnies · 17/04/2009 08:04

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope Belgian, Llare & Jael are ok, must be so scarey for them, thinking of you gals and sending hugs your way!

Spangle Your birth story is beautiful, and comedy moments I think are made to keeps us sane during the process! Well done and Congratulations again!

Momino Dont envy you having your kitchen floor done, I hate the smell of amonia, pleugh! Although, take away for a few nights sounds good to me! Curry all the way girl!

Pethidine/diamorphine Im rather glad I asked now, I had pethidine with Madi as I was having a panic attack when I went into hospital and they thought it would calm me down, won't be having it this time though, it did make me feel drunk, which I loved, but I think even though I had it just over 3hours before Madi arrived it had a negative effect on her.

I cant wait for baby to arrive now, I haven't seen a tiny baby for a year now and Im craving new baby smell!!!!

Re my post yesterday, nobody want my mobile phone number to keep in touch via text? no its cool i understand, after all I dont know if I'd want to give my number to a complete stranger, so understand why, was just an idea!

So, 5 weeks to go, arghhhhhhhh!

Who's going to be next to pop . . . .

FiKelly · 17/04/2009 08:11

detsy thanks for the wardrobe info.. I'll check them out when I boot up the laptop later.

well I sat up with the lights on to listen to the cd last night.. the cd was still very successful at relaxing me as I can't remember all of session #2! I do remember the odd bit of it though which is better than nothing

dh wants to listen to it with me over the weekend as he's noticed how much more relaxed I am about this next birth and going into hospital etc.. than before i got the cd's. so he wants to know what it says.. should be a laugh

pulapula · 17/04/2009 08:15

chocbunnies- i didnt see your bit about mobile numbers, but was planning on exchanging numbers with the yorkshire meetup people via a message on facebook (i wouldnt want to put numbers on here). So happy to message you via FB with my mobile.

chocolatebunnies · 17/04/2009 08:22

that would be lovely pula

wish i lived nearer to the meet ups

Think Fi is the nearest to me, but still a long way away

Blottedcopybook · 17/04/2009 08:27

Same here choc, I think there's one person nearish me but that's it! I'd offer my mobile number but seeing as I've just remembered to switch mine on again after over a week, I'm probably not the most reliable text friend to have!
