SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 17/04/2009 08:33

Morning

As someone that's not kept up brilliantly with this thread, I have no idea who is near me. I'm near Reigate in Surrey. Anyone else near me?

Hope everyone's doing ok this morning. Thinking of you llare, Jael and Belgian.

Looby - not long now!

chocolatebunnies · 17/04/2009 08:38

lol blotted a whole week, woah! my phone is my main source of contact to alot of my friends these days, I think Id struggle to leave it off for a whole day let alone a week, oh dear, says alot about me doesnt it!lol!

Had another thought, i know im goin to do myself an injury! but by having some of your numbers, we'll be able to let atleast one of you know when we're in labour etc when it may be too difficult to get online, so that he message can be passed onto the group!

Promise I wont go ringing/texting you at some un-godly hour!

runningmonkey · 17/04/2009 08:43

Morning,

Up early as have to wait for the washing machine repair man to come - some time between 8 and 6 apprently

Hope everyone is ok today, especially Belgian and llare and looby hope you are not getting too nervous!

momino sounds like you might be having the same floor we're having laid downstairs next week. We have to be out as its going everywhere. Will be nice to get it done tho as we're currently living with bare concrete floors!

Had our hospital tour last night and feel much more reassured, even the standard delivery rooms were ok altho a bit scarily clinical looking but I guess that's a good thing isn't it! The two pools are fab so I'm definitely going to be putting water birth preferred in my notes so hopefully I will be lucky enough to get one. My only concern is the postnatal ward - it was chaos! looked like there were beds all over the place, alarms going off, people all pver the place so think I am going to put in my birth plan that I would rather be in the midwife led unit down the corridor as they have their own recovery area which was much much quieter and all being well you are unlikely to get transferred to the postnatal ward and get an early discharge.

Guess I'll have to wait and see if the growth scan on Monday turns up anything unusual tho.

Right off to mark a few more exam papers and then a friend is coming over for a natter/nose at our new house.

Back later, I expect.
xx

runningmonkey · 17/04/2009 08:45

ooh yeah, forgot Jael hope she is ok too.

llareggub · 17/04/2009 08:46

I don't even know my mobile number!

I have a phone which can access my emails so I'll probably email someone or update via mumsnet on the phone, although happy to get my number off DH and pass it on if anyone wants to match up.

I had a massive 12 hour sleep (imagine!) and feel so much better for it. I'm still feeling some discomfort so who knows. By Tuesday I'll be 37 weeks which was when DS was born, so I'll feel a lot better if I can last a few more days.

I'm really up for a VBAC now, even hearing the screams on labour ward helped! There were 4 of us on the ward, who'd either been induced and just beginning to labour, or like me, suffering random contractions. We were all quaking at the sound! She told us screaming was great and that sort of noise was a good sign of the birth canal opening.

I'm going to have a restful few days as I think I am going to need it. Bag is now packed, and I've just got to get a little present for DS sorted.

Looby best of luck tomorrow! Get as much rest as you can today, I'll be thinking of you. Are you taking chocolate in your hospital bag? Just think, only one more day of GD!

I really am going to catch up on the rest of the thread today, especially Spangle's birth story.

Jennster · 17/04/2009 08:48

Just been looking for a nice big bean bag to labour with and came across these..... Anybody up for a little naughty?

Gert2a · 17/04/2009 08:50

Morning all!

Love to all those who are getting close/in hospital.

running I know what you mean about the post labour wards - they have freaked me out. Have never been in hospital overnight and that's the whole thing that's scaring me about this iminent birth. My thought processes are: Natural Labour - bring it on/C-section - bring it on. Staying overnight in a large room with other women and babies...... aaarrgggghhh.... scared! Am sure it'll be fine and I'll be in so much shock/love/other random emotions I won't have time to think about it!!

Back to hospital today for more foetal monitoring after I've been to see friend and her DD.

have a good day all.

runningmonkey · 17/04/2009 08:56

Gert2a that's exactly it!! Not really overly concerned about birth, whatever happens happens as the bub has to come out some how but the thought of staying in hospital overnight has me quaking in my boots (if I could get them over my puffy ankles!)

Gert2a · 17/04/2009 09:04

running maybe we need a staying on a post labour ward support thread!

chocolatebunnies · 17/04/2009 09:18

I've put my mobile number on our facebook group wallfor anyone who wants it, feel free to text me anytime!

x

FiKelly · 17/04/2009 09:19

chocolatebunnies I forgot about the mobile # was going to fb message you yesterday.. I'll do it now with mine.. we do pop down to friends in barnstaple.. don't know how much further you are? x

chocolatebunnies · 17/04/2009 09:51

A lot further down fi at a guess I'd say hour and half ish!

Got your message x

SpangleMaker · 17/04/2009 09:55

llare even if yesterday wasn't 'it', it sounds as if your body is beginning to gear up. Let's hope it can get the timing right for a VBAC Your mw is right, screams are good, it's a release of tension/pain/whatever. By the time I was properly yelling it was because of the sheer intensity & effort of the birth, not because I was panicked or distressed. Mind you I'm glad I wasn't listening to myself IYKWIM

Hmm, have to agree that the prolonged stay on the post-natal ward was the worst part of the experience. I found it ok between visiting hours when all the curtains were pulled back & it was nice & quiet & could chat to the other mums if I felt like it. But a lot of the day seemed to be spent with curtains drawn around the bed for one reason or another and it was like being in a tent. They did eventually let me have my own room though and that was so much better. TBH a 24 - 48 hour stay would have been fine really... 9 days was a bit much though.

Looby are you feeling excited this morning? Make sure you have yourself a relaxing day.

LoobyLou36 · 17/04/2009 09:56

Morning ladies.

Just had a text from my pg friend (10 days overdue) who was going to be induced on sat. She had a baby girl last night 7lb short labour.

Roll on tommorrow altho I am very very nervous about everything

Woke up with DH at 6.45 then went back to bed and listened to hypnobirthing cd. Thinking about getting some toast and tea now.

I might pop to town in a bit and choose some new glasses, the pair I've got at the moment are really scratched and not my latest prescription. I usually wear contacts but can see I will probably be relying on my glasses a bit more over the next few weeks - so might treat myself.

I live in Hereford so none of you are near me

Might be good to get someone's mobile no. I could text them and let them know how I get on at the weekend and they can update MN for me?

FiKelly · 17/04/2009 09:58

jennster LOL at the alternative bean bags... my ex would have been in 7th heaven!!

chocolatebunnies got your message and you never know we might make it further down into devon. My DH is scottish and has never really been to either devon or cornwall. Weston-super-mare is the furthest south he's been. We keep saying we must go on hols into devon as it's not v far away and he loves to go fly fishing... apparently there are quite a few fishing places he's found out about and would like to try at some stage.

LoobyLou36 · 17/04/2009 10:16

llare looking forward to not injecting anymore
managed to fill a syringe last night so now have 3 full ones to take in - do you think this will be enough?
Don't really want to risk making myself too sore for LO.

daizydoo · 17/04/2009 10:17

Thanks everyone for their good wishes for my mum. There was a niggling doubt in the back of my mind - now its all gone

Looby I'm about 30 miles from you - not that far in the grand scheme of things! I may not get back on here until tomorrow as I've an old friend coming to visit me - so I hope all goes well for your induction tomorrow and you have a short labour too!!

I was trying to tidy up the house, but have given up as ds just keeps making a mess!!

I think generally post natal wards are mayhem - mainly due to the fact that babies make a heck of a din and they are generally short staffed! The hospital I was in, wasn't too bad! I remember looking at ds in bed next to me finding it hard to believe that he was mine!

chocolatebunnies · 17/04/2009 10:22

Looby you are very welcome to take my number, its on the facebook wall. Am vey excited for you for tomorrow, I think I'dbe a nightmare if I were in our position, I strugle to sleep the night before xmas so god knows what Id be like with the night before baby coming!!!!

Fi Its lovey down here when the weather is nice, lots of nice places to visit etc, so if you do make it down you'll have to let me know! We could take DC to Paignton Zoo, that place is great!

LoobyLou36 · 17/04/2009 10:22

thanks daisydoo

FiKelly · 17/04/2009 10:31

i always have my mobile on too... I'll pop my number on the fb group too... def easier to update everyone when the exciting stage kicks off

llareggub · 17/04/2009 10:42

I don't know Looby. Sounds like your pen is different to mine. One syringe lasts me for weeks, as there are 260 units in each vial and I only use 6 units in the morning and 6 at lunch time. Don't forget that as soon as the baby is out, you won't need any, and I'm sure if you run out the hospital will have a stock.

sausagenmash · 17/04/2009 11:17

Helloooo - last day at work here - am sitting here in clinic, and only 2 patients have turned up - 4 haven't!! Tsk, its sooo annoying when this happens! Still, less work for me to do this afternoon!

Am not going to get a chance to get online for the rest of the day, so Looby , lots and lots of luck and hugs for tomorrow, you will be a star and your LO will come out beaming and gorgeous! NO more injecting either, that will be so much nicer for you. Will be thinking of you tomorrow xxx

LoobyLou36 · 17/04/2009 11:25

sorry llare I meant syringes of colostrum

have taken down your mobile no. chocbunnies if I text you can you update MN for me?

right off to town

llareggub · 17/04/2009 11:32

I don't know, Looby, sorry! Have you got lanisoh cream? That will help with soreness.
