Oh and luckily i do my nesting by proxy- my cleaner is very good

EmmalinaC · 08/04/2009 21:32

Pula that's great news - now you can have a lovely Easter and enjoy your friend's wedding!

Cote Glad you've made a decision and are happy with it. I am seeing my consultant tomorrow to discuss and possibly book a date for my elcs. I also wondered what happens if I go into labour beforehand - at the moment I think I'd like to see how I progress rather than automatically having an emcs and maybe try for a VBAC - my theory being that if I go into labour early the baby won't be too big and also if she's ready to come out maybe things will progress a bit more quickly than they did last time. Belgian does that sound like crazy logic or are they likely to insist I make a decision one way or the other now?

I am also nesting like a mad-woman mostly by washing things in Ecover. And although he would deny my DH is nestingly frantically too - he has a 'job list' stuck to the side of the fridge, consisting of things like building shelves and changing doorknobs and decorating and is steadily working his way through it when I'm asleep!

FiKelly · 08/04/2009 21:33

hee hee dh has just worked up a sweat pumping up my ball i'd forgotten how comfy they were to sit on. can't wait to see ds's face & reaction when he sees it tomorrow am

EmmalinaC · 08/04/2009 21:38

Oh and I'm glad we've sorted out the 'blozzering' issue (sausages' word, not mine). Thank you Belgian for clearing it up with a scientific explanation. I must say if giving head could bring on labour I'm sure our menfolk would've heard about it by now!

Blottedcopybook · 08/04/2009 22:05

divedaisy I love those shoes in a purely ironic sense, there's not a hope they'd be seen on my daughters except for comedy value photographs but I do think they're hilarious.

Frazz I was away with the fairies by the time I threatened to bite her. I also offered to set my anaesthetist up with my ex-husband. . Also, re: homebirth does your DH know that statistically homebirths are safer, you are always attended by two midwives focusing purely on you rather than (in my experience anyway!) one who is supposed to be looking after you and one who appears just as you start pushing) plus if there was an emergency and you needed surgery, the theatre would still need to be prepped whether you were at home or in the hospital and you'd likely arrive in theatre in the same time from home? If he's still being arsey I'll come and hold your hand

sausage Personally I ignore most of the advice about what's okay and not while you're pregnant - the listeria risk is so minimal as so be negligible, pretty much the only two I follow are the alcohol guidelines and the liver one (because liver is minging!) I think a little of what you fancy will do you good.

Spangle Hooray! So good to hear from you! Hope you guys are well xx

Belgian Have you tried Asda or Tesco for Pop Tarts? Our big local Asda does 4-5 different flavours.

All this talk of spitting and swallowing has made me come across all funny, you dirty mares!

I'm feeling aeons better today, got physio and another BP check tomorrow and then I swear to God I'm not getting out of bed until Tuesday!

What's 'blozzering'. Hope it's not something rude

Emmalina It doesn't sound crazy at all. I have actually had a delivery not too long before I went onto ML of someone who had that exact same plan. She had a c/s booked, but wished to labour if she went naturally. And she did labour naturally and had a beautiful labour and a beautiful birth with just gas and air and not stitches . If that's what you want, go for it. I'm sure that they'll be able to accomodate you.

Oh and Emmalina I think my dh is doing a same sort of nesting as yours, except that it ends with a lot of mess, due to cement being mixed, things being sawn and destroyed etc... Actually I had to laugh with ds, they'd done 2 courses of brick (the damp course) and ds came in saying the porch was nearly finished. So I said, what about the door, windows and roof and he went 'Ah, I suppose it's not nearly finished then.' LOL

pula I think you've got the nesting sorted I think. Nesting without having to do it yourself. Brilliant

Anyway. Off to bed now. I'm still feeling absolutely shattered. My mw is coming tomorrow with my pack. Exciting!

Belgianchocolates · 08/04/2009 22:15

blotted Happy you're feeling better. Hopefully your bp will have settled a bit now too. Keep resting though. I eat brie btw. Can't help it, it's just the best melted on toast . My excuse is that i've been eating the stuff since little and I'm immune to any bacteria that might be living in the rind .

Momino · 08/04/2009 22:35

spangle, congrats and hope you and Harvey home soon.

emmabsmom, ironically, we've just finished a jar of Frontera Salsa with our chilli tonight (the chilli that's 3 days old) which my dh brought back from a short usa trip a month ago. we only have one more jar left so that's defn what I'm asking my sis to bring me. Frontera salsa is the best and I'm so glad to know it's available from the link you sent (though the shop site is currently down it says .

donuts - i do miss american style ones but have found Yumyums from Thomas the Baker to be equally as good (if not better) than glazed amercan donuts like krispy kreme.

hypnotherapy - i listened to my CD today and fell asleep! also found it very difficult for my mind not to wander... do you think it will be effective for me ? i'll try again tomorrow.

magnum - did someone say buy one get one free?!?!!

i'm off to bed, will try to catch you tomorrow.

Momino · 08/04/2009 22:36

pula, quick congrats on DHs job, that's great news.

Jennster · 09/04/2009 06:01

Stop stop stop stop

I can't keep up! Today is my last day at work. What an absolute nightmare these last 2 weeks have been. I've been in a branch with 80ish methadone addicts, most on supervised daily pick up, and having to sort out everything for the bank holiday has been so stressful. To top it all we had the stocktakers in yesterday. I had to stay over and hour after work last night to try and catch up, and have been awake since 4.40 thinking about everything to do today. If only I could get in early, but the skids really do limit that.

FFS Man stuff? Semen ladies, semen. It's absolute bollocks about taking it orally too. Belgian is right about the stomach and applying it locally

Jennster · 09/04/2009 06:03

Me me me. Sorry not to have mentioned everybody. Good luck, get well soon, congratulations and phew should cover everything I think?

LoobyLou36 · 09/04/2009 07:13

Morning everyone...

My last day at work - yippee!! roll on 4 o'clock

spangle was great to hear from you - hope you can both go home soon - can't wait to see pics!

Gert2a · 09/04/2009 08:21

Morning!

Congratulations Spangle!

Congratulations Pula to your DH!

It's 8.15am and already I've been and cleaned out the kitchen cupboards - eurrrggghhh! It's a wonder we're still alive and haven't killed ourselves with food poisoning... Must make mental note to do that job more often.

Thank you all for advice re ECV. Was told by maternity triage that I would get phone call yesterday with appointment to see consultant. Didn't so rang them at end of day and got arsey woman telling me I would hear from them either end of this week or beginning of next week and appointment would be sometime next week. Do you think I should ask my CMW to ring them to chase for appointment as time is ticking on. Not sure how quick I need to see consultant. By middle of next week I'll be 37+4, then they'd have to book me in for ECV, then if that didn't work book me in for elcs. I may have gone into labour by then. Am I panicking unnecessarily?

Looby - 'enjoy' your last day at work! yippee!

Right, may go and tackle the fridge now... Nesting? Moi?

Ps my favourite german phrase taught to me by my best friend at the age of 18 is Schlucken nicht schpuken... just thought I'd share it what with all the talk of erm... sperm.

Gert2a · 09/04/2009 08:33

Haven't got to the fridge yet.

Just wanted to say that I sold my Smart car at the weekend and it made me cry! In fact I cried for most of the day on saturday!! I hold pregnancy completely responsible for the emotion as am actually happy that it's going - it's the hardest car in the world to get fixed due to it being so small and fiddly, usually for a simple job the mechanics have to take the whole car apart to get to the bit they need - not good for cost!

Can't wait to go shopping for our big new family car!

Anyone any experience of 'banking' no claims bonus? I have full no claims bonus on my policy and won't have my own policy anymore just a named driver on DHs. So eventually one day if we become a two car family again, will I need to start from scratch with no claims bonus?

FiKelly · 09/04/2009 09:09

gert2a i've no experience of banking car ins sorry

lehowell · 09/04/2009 09:35

morning all

spangle Congrats, hope thf you get home soon

pula Congrats on dh's job

gert I'm no expert but I'm pretty sure you can't bank no claims bonus even with companies that let a named driver build up no claims you have to start from scratch as the named driver

jennster Hope your last day at work goes well

looby enjoy your last ay at work

Feeling better today, I actually got to talk to some real live human beings face to face yesterady evening. All work colleagues of dh and no one who lives even remotely near here but it was sill nice. Plus there were choccie eclaires which always help

I'm finding I want to do all sorts of nesting stuff but as most of what needs doing requires gettign to floor level which brings on a lovely bout of heartbuirn I'm mainly just closing the door and ignoring it.

I'm trying to decide between attacking the housework which which make me tired and heartburny but feel good once it's done or curling up on the sofa and attacking the baby blanket I'm trying to knit which at my current knitting speed might be done by the time it leaves home.

Have a good day all and thank you so much for cheering me up yesterday

chocolatebunnies · 09/04/2009 09:43

Hi Gals,

What a busy 24 hours on here! Seriously we should get an award for the amount we talk!

So so so so much to catch up on, sorry if I forget anyone!

Congrats to you DH Pula Gerta I know diddly squat about car insurance Im afraid.

Enjoy your last day looby bet you cant wait!

Fi Madi loves the birth ball, although she believes its a giant football and kicks it around the lounge so it has to be packed away during the day to prevent breakages! My poor nerves cant take it!

To everyone else, hope your all ok!

My wind issue seems to have gone now, thank god!

Im on my own all day today as Madi is at her nans, so my jobs for today are to pack this flaming hospital bag and pack the washing away, although I have already, hoovered, dusted, washed up, filled dishwasher and washed kitchen floor! Am quite pleased with myself lol!

I've decided to become a nail technician, as its something I can do from home, I've wanted to do it since I left school but never had the balls, well, due to my new found confidence (which im sure i have down to you ladies!) I've have bought my course, it was delivered yesterday, its a home-learn course, I should be qualified in a few months, cant wait to start, so if anyone wants to be a guinea pig for me, let me know!

Does anyone have access to a Baby Gap near them? I have a favour if you do . . . . mines to far away!

Weather is crap here today, bahhh humbug!

Chocobunnies xx

sausagenmash · 09/04/2009 09:46

Re: blozzering. My ex best friend and I nicknamed, erm, oral sex (ok, ok, Jennster, a blow job) a blozzer. Amazing how the noun can be used as a verb also. Am just being polite-ish on here, am much more vulgar in RL. I tell the nurses that I teach that I run a boobs and pubes clinic. They look at me in horror! Tis true (ish) though!

And Jennster ' "bollocks about taking it orally" - aaaaaaghhh the mind boggles!!!!

Gracious me, its not even 10am and I'm harping on already.

Wish my dp would nest

EmmalinaC · 09/04/2009 09:51

Morning all!

Gert I think some companies will recognise a proportion of your no claims bonus for up to three years after the end of your last policy. Or as Leho suggests you could make sure your DH's policy allows named drivers to accrue a NCB too. Either way you should be able ensure you have something to use in future.

Belgian thanks for the advice on elcs v. vbac. I wish someone could just tell me what to do - it's making the decision that is hard as there are obviously pro and cons for both - so I want to hedge my bets a bit and let nature have a say! Thankfully my DH has gone from very anti-vbac to extremely supportive (hurrah for NCT refresher courses - he came away believing I could do it!).

I need to have a bit of a rant... (Maybe I should head off to the AIBU thread?) I am pretty much the last of my friends to have another child, almost all of them have two already, and I am utterly sick of people telling me how tiring/difficult it is. Grrrrrrrrrrr! I KNOW it will involve sleep deprivation but I wish people could focus on the good things like how amazing it is to have not one but two (or even more!) beautiful children. If one more person says 'you just wait...' I shall scream. Surely there is something nice about having more than one child? Some of you are on to your third so presumably you coped?!

emmabemmasmom · 09/04/2009 09:51

Pula Good news about DH?s job! Bet that takes some stress out of your lives being permanent and all. Congrats! Oh and someone bought that jujube bag! Guess it was for the best as DH saw it in my watch list and said ?what the hell is with that changing bag??...lol So I guess I was not going to get it anyway...but still!

Belgian I think you can get the cinnamon ones from that site I linked for you. Not sure but they do tons of weird other ones so they must! Hope you find some goodies!

Momino Oh good! I am not 100% sure if they sell it on the site (did notice it was down!) but I know they do sell it and they do offer a service where you can call and do an order that way asking what they have in...so hopefully you will be able to get it! If not, I can get it for you when I go if you need more after your sister goes back.

choco That?s great about your course! I bet you are excited to have something for yourself...good luck! If I was close enough I would be your test dummy lol

Well last night I tried to express. I started thinking of DD when she was a baby to get my ?let down?. I pumped for a few min on the left and got a few drops in the bottle (all I was hoping for on the first try) but on the right...whew! First 2 pumps and it was dripping away so I stopped for the night. I have to say though the weirdest feeling came over me when I was doing it. I was giddy and just...high...it was weird but felt good lol DH was watching me like I was crazy but oh well...kept asking him if he wanted to taste it lol Should have seen the face!

I don?t know anything about nesting either as I cannot be bothered. I mean I cleaned the house like a mad person last Wednesday for guests...why does it need to be done again? Why is everything all dusty...again!?! Oh I can?t be bothered. Rather snuggle with DD and watch Finding Nemo lol

EmmalinaC · 09/04/2009 09:52

Sorry that was a bit of a 'me' post. Hope you're all doing ok? x

Momino · 09/04/2009 10:07

emmalina, about having 2nd child: yes, it's a big adjustment but you already know that which is a good thing. I don't think we were prepared for the difficulty that dd1 (but as i said before, she's exceptionally high maintenance in character) and dd2 together would be at 1st. but you don't need to worry about that.

good things: older sibling gets to help, they become friends (ours play together so nicely!), more cuddles all round, lovely mix of personalities. they do argue (would be unusual if they didn't), but they are also inseparable.

just roll your eyes when people tell you 'just you wait'. and there is sleep deprivation whether one or 2 children involved. as you know that passes, you forget and move on to the next lovely stage. it just gets better.

i'm a little worried about how to juggle when no. 3 arrives but i know i'll get through and a 3rd is going to add even more life and character to our family.

Momino · 09/04/2009 10:09

Emmalina - cross posted: you're allowed a couple of me-posts once in awhile !

Momino · 09/04/2009 10:15

looby and jennster, good luck on last day of work and hope you celebrate tonight! what a relief, phew.

Nesting: problem is, i get side-tracked so end up doing little bits here and there so it isn't as noticeable an accomplishment. So am now planning to focus and thoroughly clean the two bathrooms. they're disgusting [blech emoticon].

our dog returns home tomorrow from a two week 'holiday' at inlaws so i'm also going to try to vacuum before the furballs invade again. sigh. [makes a separate note to hide the exercise ball before manic dog punctures it.]

will come back later to see how you are. hope everyone feeling ok today.
