blotted I'm crossing my fingers for you. Sounds good that it has all stopped for now though.

frazzled My dh is neutral about the hb thing. He doesn't say too much about it, but definitely thinks waterbirth is just a gimmic of birthing pool sellers . So if I haven't got his support and my own mw is not too confident, then I'll just leave the waterbirth bit. As long as I can stay at home I'm happy. I was talking to DH about lists for hospital/labour bags and he said: don't forget the dh's sandwiches. I told him that he was lucky enough that we're staying at home, so he could help himself to whatever he liked from the fridge when I'm in labour

They say that when dcs start asking about where babies come from that they're ready for it. So age doesn't really come into play. 2 years ago ds was really curious so I bought them a couple of books. Their favourite is How did I begin They actually used it during this pregnancy because it's got drawings of babies at the different stages of pregnancy. When they asked me where baby came from I just told them from a hole between my legs. They were happy enough with that. I don't think they thought too deeply about the details.

Belgianchocolates · 05/04/2009 12:08

Oh and re weight gain: I was 10 stone pre-pregnancy and at the last count I was now 12st 10lbs or in kg I was 62kg pre-preg and now 81kg. I had a similar weight gain with the other 2. 1st time around it took me 15 months to loose it. 2nd time around only 4 months. And both times I didn't do anything different in terms of diet or excercise. I suppose the only difference with no2 was that I didn't have the long lie-ins with baby or the prolonged cuddles on the sofa. So I was generally a bit more active, just because ds was around.

MsG · 05/04/2009 12:35

I got weighed yesterday for the first time in ages. I knew I was well over 16 stone but am now 17.4... I was 15 stone before I fell pregnant so it's not too bad. I'm overweight though and ideally would weigh between 12 and 13 stone...

Got to dash... will be on later or tomorrow! x

detsy · 05/04/2009 12:36

Blotted fingers and legs crossed hun - good luck, let us know how you get on xx

Just off to a point to point race for the afternoon in the sun and to tire out Lotti Lu (not to mention her mother who will be seriously knackered from all the walking about!!)

Cath you later girls xx

Belgianchocolates · 05/04/2009 12:53

Just checking in to see if there was any news from Blotted. I'm off now to my SIL who's having us over for a barbecue. Hope the weather holds out for it. It's lovely here at the mo.

Blottedcopybook · 05/04/2009 13:12

I've lost my plug, hoping that the gush from earlier was just mucous but I don't seem to be losing any more and I'm not having any obvious contractions. I'm panicking a bit because I do have a really sore back and that was how my labour with DS1 started because he was back to back too. Hospital are happy for me to stay home and see my own midwife at my appointment tomorrow as long as everything stays as it is.

I'm so so tired though and tossing up between getting up and getting the house organised, or staying in bed and relaxing.

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 05/04/2009 13:12

blotted

Hope you're ok.............

Is it a case of 'Once you pop you can't stop'? and Spangle has started us off?

Just chilling with a cup of Redbush Tea before taking DD2 to a party.

I hate kids parties, there have been so many of late with the same cliquey group of mums telling me I'm huge and much bigger than so and so's mum who's due a month before me.

Oh and sex? No chance!!!

Ohhhh good luck Blotted stay in bed and rest I reckon -could be the last time in a while.

I'm a bit bored today. Done a few jobs like vaccuming and cleaned the windows in the dining room. DH has been watching cricket and grand prix all morning and now DD is asleep so I hope to get us all out of the house this afternoon as I am getting cabin fever.

llareggub · 05/04/2009 13:22

blotted you must definitely rest!

rosielady · 05/04/2009 14:32

blotted you are due about the same as me - oh! it's a bit early for all that isn't it?

I would take the same advice and rest up if you can for the rest of the day and see the mw tomorrow......hope all goes well - keep us posted.

Momino · 05/04/2009 14:44

blotted... hope you're resting. let us know how you're getting on, hope all is well.

Hey, is there a full moon coming up this week? we'd all better watch!

beautiful here in York. hope everyone having a good days .

Jennster · 05/04/2009 15:57

blotted oh my. Please rest.

Just had a lovely picnic in the park with my sister, her bf and my family. Now off to a barbecue at a friends house. Weather nice here too. Am absolutely knackered though. Didn't get to bed 'til midnight, and woke up at 6. Really really need an early night tonight.

ReeBee · 05/04/2009 17:54

wow, as usual I have a few days away from MN and everything happens!

blotted, hope you're ok and you are resting as everyone has said!

belgian, loads of congrats on the job, am thrilled for you. You completely deserve it.

Have cleaned the house and done some gardening today - including cutting the grass (not as tough as you'd think, as we have a mower that kind of propels itself, although I did overcook the throttle a couple of times, cue comedy scene of pregnant lady racing across lawn attached to and in hot pursuit of lawnmower...).

Was so shattered afterwards had to have nap on sofa - I'm not good with daytime sleeping as I feel spaced out afterwards - and consequently haven't got myself together enough to clean out the spare room / nursery before my mum and dad come to stay next Friday. Everytime I've bought baby items I've put them in there, and as the cot and travel system arrived on Friday, it's now at capacity. Oh well, M&D are coming to help us with things like porch building so perhaps they'd like to start by clearing a path to their bed?!

Empathise completely with all the chocoholics out there - normally I'm not that bothered but over the last 3 months I have become obsessed with it. Can't even claim I've been going for the 'better' dark choc. No, anything will do! Am almost longing to lose my appetite but am too greedy for that - I'll eat a big meal and feel sick, think 'better hadn't do that again' and then do it the very next day. Sigh.

Can still wear pre-mat jeans - again only under bump and fastened with hair elastic - but had put on 2 stones until last week. Have definitely slowed down though (in spite of gargantuan food intake ) so feel cautiously optimistic re overall weight gain.

Only 12 more days left at work, yay!

bekkaboo · 05/04/2009 19:52

blotted any update from you? Hoping your resting well x

detsy · 05/04/2009 19:58

blotted really hope you are resting girl and have nothing more to concern yourself overnight - hope the back ache improves for you. Thinking of you lots and sending you big hugs xx Rest rest rest and see what happens.

Spangle sends her love - she's still in but been moved to a private room so that should be better. Her dad lives locally so is keeping her supplied with non NHS grub and Harvey is ok - just needs to put on some weight and get rid of his jaundice. She promises to be back on line asap and obv can't wait to get her new little family back at home

I'm 12'3 regards weight - was about 11 I reckon before hand so def put nothing like as much on as I did with Lotti. Was trying to substract baby weight, placenta etc the other night but can't remember how much it all accounts for!

Point to point was great - lovely to be in the sun and we ended up with a slight profit even taking entry fee into consideration Lotti is bamboozled as she has walked on thick grass all day and cuddled every small child she chanced upon. She even tried to get hold of a bigger boys hand (hmm just like her mum....) and his father asked if she had always been so "forward" Erm she's not she's just a happy, very sociable, affectionate little pudding - thank you!!!!!! Protective mother me - never!!

detsy · 05/04/2009 20:28

Ohhhh apparently it can be up to 30lbs overall - tho doubt that in my case - great if it is as that means I'll weigh less post partum than before

Yeah right FAT chance, lol

detsy · 05/04/2009 20:29

Echo echo echo, normally Frazz who talks to herself on here but must be my turn this evening....

Okay then off to find a bit of stodge or something to nibble on

detsy · 05/04/2009 20:31

Belgian wardrobe doors and tracks being delivered tomo - woo hoo, woo hoo. Then fitted by DP next weekend am very excited!!!

pulapula · 05/04/2009 20:33

Evening all, just back from a weekend away in Manchester. It was my dad's 60th birthday and as a special treat, we left the DCs overnight with my parents whilst me and DH had a night in a local hotel (it's our 5th anniversary tomorrow).

blotted - hope things are ok with you, and that you are just resting.

febes- i will send you a message on FB about the phil and teds.

re sex- it sounds like i am a bit unusual to be wanting this - although once a week is usually enough for me .

frazzledoldbag · 05/04/2009 20:34

HI ladies.
blotted I really hope you're ok - please please just put your feet up and rest and don't hesitate to call the hosp if you're at all worried tonight. Fingers crossed it's all a false alarm and LO stays put for a while longer.
detsy thanks for the spangle update - she must be getting pretty fed up of being in hosp by now poor thing. Good that Harvey's under the m/w watchful eye though, and they;ll have that whole feeding lark well sorted by the time they get home.
Was a beautiful sunny day here and had lots of visitors to the house (even one or two who seemed genuinely keen) so it's been a productive day. Very knackered and sore feet now tho - too much running up and down stairs I think. Just bought some RedBush tea on the way home and had a cup - lovely. Might take another cup up to my bath shortly.

Re: Homebirth - am sorry to hear it's not just me with resistant DH. I just don't know if I've got the strength to fight for it (against DH and midwife who's still going on about my blood loss last time). Seeing m/w on Tuesday for check up so will take it from there I think. Weirdly I do feel that this one might come early (and DD1 has been saying that from the outset- so wonder if that may happen?) - she can be a bit spooky about these things sometimes.......
Current fave name BTW is Felix.......any opinions, and is it too 'catty' to use when DD1 is called Ki**y? What do you all think?

llareggub · 05/04/2009 20:34

Well, I'm still waiting for the dramatic loss of weight that supposedly comes from breastfeeding. Maybe I ate to much cake whilst breastfeeding DS during my maternity leave?

I remember sitting in bed a few days after having him, staring at this big, squashy bump where my previously hard baby bump had been, and wondering where on earth it was going to go. I guess I'm still wondering, although it has hard again!

I had a really bad pain earlier, lasted a while and was in pain, clutching my tummy. Poor old DH thought it was a contraction, and was ready for action! I was tempted to let him think it for a while, but had to break it too him that it is just a side-effect of the iron tablets making me constipated. Bless him.

Thanks for the update on Spangle Detsy. Is Harvey under a phototherapy lamp for his jaundice? That happened to DS and we were advised to give him daily sun baths (in November ) on discharge which I thought was really quaint. He spent quite a bit of time in his Moses basket on our window sill!

frazzledoldbag · 05/04/2009 20:35

detsy cross posted with you talking to yourself! I quite like a good old chat with myself, don't know about you????

llareggub · 05/04/2009 20:36

I love the name Felix! DH is still going on about Rupert and now he has brainwashed DS into wanting it as well, although that is as much to do with the Rupert Bear car they have in Mothercare that he likes to play on. He even wanted me to sing the Rupert Bear song to him this evening!

frazzledoldbag · 05/04/2009 20:40

llare yes, I also had the cake/breastfeeding problem. All those hours of sitting on the sofa doing bugger-all except b/feeding (yawn) make you hungry (bored-hungry as opposed to proper hungry)........I put on so much weight (almost 2 stone) after DD2 was born it's actually scary. (although I did have a Mirena coil put in when she was 6 wks old and my massive and terrifying increase in appetite and weight gain did coincide with that) - will NOT be getting one of those again! yuuck anyway.

frazzledoldbag · 05/04/2009 20:46

oh llare I luuuurve Rupert too but DH (shock) isn't keen. Felix he seems to be considering though..........

also a quick dilemma question : I have a step sister who lives at the other end of the country from us and who we see possibly once every 2 or 3 yrs or so who has a child called Felix. So in theory he's my step-nephew but in fact he's 5 and my DH has never even met him. Does this mean I shouldn't use Felix if I want to or are they distant enough for it not to matter????? Not really sure of the etiquette here - of course I wouldn't use it if I saw them (or spoke) really but we never do! Am I weird for even considering it?
