Wow thread number three already!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
squidgeymiller · 27/04/2009 18:56

of course my last dd due date was 2006, not 09!

fidelma · 27/04/2009 19:13

sqidgeymiller My husband is also 12 years older than me!

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 27/04/2009 20:02

Where is Sammysam ???? Patiently waiting to hear good news here !!

HumphreysCorner · 27/04/2009 20:33

OMG squidgey-men and their toys eh? DH is itching to get out on his bike. We had a really bad crash in 1998 and it put me off being a pillion but hasn't put him off riding. He is hoping our boy to be will be into bikes too.

{{hugs}} to all those others living with complete tossers. Mine has stormed off upstairs as I have tried to tell him how upset I am and he does not care!

Hope sammysam comes on soon.

squidgeymiller · 27/04/2009 21:00

Wow Fidelma, that's weird! Is he also mentally 12 yrs younger???

HC I'd still love to be pillion but we have nobody to babysit so last time I managed to het a ride out was just before we found out I was pg last time (summer 05!!) I do miss it but what can you do? DH has been ok today but has slinked off to Kuk sool wan (martial art) despite still being knackered from the weekend, just so he doesn't have to do anything in the house (although I'm leaving the washing up for him to deal with anyway!)

Re hoping kids are into it, DH has already got our DD on the bike and lets her rev it up. I think he's also ridden her up and down the drive on it but he hasn't officially admitted it yet (coz I'd KILL him!)

Still no news from Sammysam? Hope she's just busy!

MeHimCatBlob · 27/04/2009 21:21

Hi all

just catching up - welcome Squidgeymiller and all the best to flame.

not much news from here although did finally get my engagement ring on Saturday and then booked hotel for wedding yesterday. not sure who it was thats selling a house but I sympathise - we are trying to sell 2 in order to buy a larger one before the baby is born - must be totally mad but there you go. Are also getting married in June so can't beleive my stress levels arent higher than they are!!

anyway, take care all and will check back again soon

PS - my bump is christened the blob - not very romantic but somehow suits (although its definately male given the amount of grief I've had from it!)

sammysam · 27/04/2009 21:27

Not long as Heroes about to start!!!!

ICBINB-baby looks fine there is no sign of the virus. Had 2 scans-the first with the senior senographer. She was lovely-said it was amazing that baby was still with us and said that after the 2nd scan they might discuss sampling the amniotic fluid to check for the virus. She spent ages taking measurements and looking at blood flow, heartbeat etc.
Then saw an arse of a consultant who almost accused me of i'm not sure what-asked me why i'd had the blood test! Said that so many people catch it when pg and never know etc etc. He had a further look and took more measurements-he said that baby looked fine and that in his opinion something would show by now. So I have my 20wk scan 2 weeks today and then prob only one more at 28wks.
Should I push for more? What has yours said? Don't get me wrong i'm very happy that everything looks fine but I just feel he was quite dismissive.....
I have heard that he turned one of my acupunturists patients away for an early scan when pg after her 5th mc......think he doesn't like doing extra scans!
Are you seeing anyone in the next week or so? If you are could you do me a massive favour and ask them about flying? I'm supposed to be going on the 17th May-I asked him and he said it was fine but got the impression he just wanted me out of there iynwim? I'd like to know what your caring thorough consultant thinks about flying etc.

Anyway all in all it was good-baby looks well was moving lots (he was surprised that I could feel lots of strong movements) so I should feel very relieved.......but i'm finding it hard cos I feel that they are not really that bothered iyswim?

Anyway really sorry for the me me me

It must have been the weekend for bad dh's and dp's-mine was very nasty. All ok now-think it was stress-he deals with it in a very bad way

LMB- at the house-there is no way I could live there. I always get feelings when I walk into a house-I can't imagine it would have a great one

squidgeymiller · 27/04/2009 22:04

Sammysam, great news everything fine but shame about your crappy consultant. I know it's just a job to them but I think they forget how much it all means to us. The slightest grimace or off the cuff remark can make your head start spinning can't it?

Glad everything seems fine though, that's fab!

fidelma · 27/04/2009 22:09

Hi all

Sad that some of you have had a tough time with DH/DP over the weekend.Do you think that they are trying to get some freedom before the new babes are born?

MS easing every day.17 weeks tomorrow.2nd and last scan in 2 weeks.

sammysamsounds like great news.Forget your consultant doesn't sound very good.Where is the bedside manor? Alot of the MWs also seem to have lost this skill.

Re all the bank holidays we don't get them at all.The children are not off school now until the summer.

Now in mat clothes all the time help!!!

DevilsAdvocaat · 28/04/2009 06:58

yay sammysam, don't let the crappy doc ruin the fantastic news for you re: the flying, i think if he said it'll be fine then don't worry. is it after your next scan?

well, i'm just hecking in to tel you about this dress i bought. it's really great on and plenty of room for growth. i'm going to a wedding on the 9th and another in august and am hoping it may still fit me then, although that may be wishful thinking!

sorry to those with boy problems. dh and i argued a lot the first time round. this time it has been loads better, so far, but it is hard not to get pissed off. i think the pg is ALWAYS on our minds but it's differentfor them as they can just carry on with normality. hc just make sure you treat yourself to something if dh goes away on bh. maybe a pamper day for you and your girls (home salon style) and make the most of a boy free day.

still haven't eard from mw about an appointment this week. am 17 weeks on friday, thinking maybe i should just book one for next friday as i don't want to miss out next week too.

flame are you ok? you haven't been around as much.

DevilsAdvocaat · 28/04/2009 06:59

*checking in to tell you

ahem.

DevilsAdvocaat · 28/04/2009 06:59

*checking in to tell you

ahem.

sammysam · 28/04/2009 07:59

What are you checking in to tell us devils? I'm intrigued now!!!

Thank you everyone-we are very relieved There is just a small worry re some areas scanning every week til 30 wks vs him only wanting to do 3 scans-seems like a big difference and surely areas doing them every week wouldn't do them if they didn't think they needed to iyswim? But i'm going to try not to worry and just see how the next one goes.

So now my major thing is the flying issue....

What a different day it is today-the sun is out already-should be a lovely day!

How is everyone? How are you today Flame?

Can't believe we're all nearin the half way mark! I'm 18+2 today! I'm also really shocked that I think I do want to find out the sex-really never thought I would! I am convinced it is another girl though so maybe I should just leave it

CalypsoFlame · 28/04/2009 08:43

Hello all!

Sorry to hear about your AD flamestorm, must be really hard to cope with, but it's good you have direction to resolve it - good luck X

Good luck too with the on-going scans sam, all looking good so far!

Dress looks wonderful DA, have a wedding myself in July, but was wondering if to buy a black number - can go mad with accessories then right?

Had a very uneventful MW appointment yesterday (delayed 16wk since I was in Sweden) and asked about the racing heart thing - she said next time it happens, to go to hospital and they'll do an EKG, but it almost alway remains unexplained. So {shrugs}, keep eating and drinking well and try to take it easy! Bloods still awol from 12wk scan so aside from a quick pressure check and a failure to get the HB on the doppler, I was in and out in a flash!

And also had a rubbish time with not-so-DH this weekend; he had me crying my eyes out twice over the weekend - if he says "I wish you would stop being so down and try to be more fun" one more time... shakes fist

Has traceya posted here recently? Was wondering how her running (and pg!) was going? Hello you..?!

LittleMissBliss · 28/04/2009 08:54

Sammysam So glad that the news is good news, but what a crap dr.! I think you should just try and focus on all of the positives and wait to see what they say at your 20 week scan, which i also think you should find out the sex! Go on! GO on! GO on!
Is you DH bothered either way? re. finding out?

Think if you know you can pick up some lovely baby clothes on holiday!!

No peer pressure at all on my part..............lol

Have a good day all still feeling really run down with these cold sores and refusing to leave the house. So might attempt to tidy it instead.

lal123 · 28/04/2009 09:03

morning ladies - feeling very lucky here that I have such a supportive DP (smug emoticon)

Sammysam - good news re the scan. Different areas have different policies re scans, I don't think there is much evidence around to say how many is the perfect number.

I've got my 12 week scan and booking in today (at 14+2ish!) - its at 3pm, don't think I'll get much work done today!

rubyslippers · 28/04/2009 09:40

sammy - good news that all is well but grrr at poor consultant ...

You should be fine to fly - you can ask your GP for advice and sometime you do need a letter to say you are fit to fly

devils - lovely dress

lal - hope all is well at the scan

sorry if i have missed any personals - hope everyone is ok

am 17 weeks now and can't believe how fast it is going

i have my scan in 3 weeks and then GP, MW and Consultant appts

Felts loads of movement last night as soon as i went to bed - DH couldn't feel any of them this time

HumphreysCorner · 28/04/2009 09:56

Morning all

Good luck for today lal. Lucky you with a nice DP.

Sammysam-that is very goog news. Hope you get the flying thing sorted. You do know that you need to find out the sex don't you?

DevilsAdvocaat-loving the dress. I had to send my LaRedoute ultra mini skirts back so still only have one pair of mat jeans.

Calypso-your bloods should be back. If an ECG won't help then why bother? My MW never offers to listen for the HB. 20 week scans soon for everyone. Send your DH round and we will knock their heads together. When I was PG with DD1 I was terribly hormonal, one minute happy and the next furious and sad. Not so bad with DD2 but this time I have no hormonal feelings so my DH should count himself lucky! Knowing my luck I will suffer after the birth.

Can anyone talk to me about afterpains as before I had DD2 my Manager said ooh, it will be terrible as it is baby No2. I didn't have any but wonder if I might this time.

Just rested my mug of tea on my bump and he didn't like it.

Meant to say that yesterday one of the teachers returned from a trip to a school in Turkey so DD1 told her about the baby and she wouldn't believe her and it took another teacher to convince her it was true. Now either I am too old or she thinks I am not big enough bumpwise to be PG. 17 week bump pic

Love to all

18 weeks!

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 28/04/2009 11:00

So pleased to hear your news Sammysam ! I have another scan on Friday - will be 17 weeks - and then I think the next will be standard 20-21 week scan. Will let you know anything new !

I don't think flying is a problem at all - the other mum at my school, with the same consultant - has flown since all this started. We're back to there is nothing you can do to help the baby, he/she is either going to be OK or not, there's nothing we can do to change the outcome now - although I do still keep taking my pregnancy vitamins thinking that maybe the iron is doing some good for the baby !!

My symptoms from the virus were 9 weeks ago now - and I could have had the virus for 3 weeks before that - so I'm feeling quite positive at the moment. I do intend to ask the consultant on Friday whether I will ever get to the stage where she can say that I'm almost certainly out of danger and to just get on and enjoy the usual pregnancy worries !

I'm also on the look out for a nice long, (denim ?) maternity skirt - any one seen anything ?? I did get a lovely sleeveless top from Blooming Marvelous - too big for now but perfect for holiday in August - and a bargain cropped cardigan - £50 down to £15 !

Treats · 28/04/2009 11:32

It sounds as if half the males in the British Isles were infected with some kind of 'Crapness Disease' over the weekend - DHs, hospital consultants and all sorts. Tchuh! I think they're jealous.......

Sammysam - so pleased to hear that the news is positive. Hope you can relax a bit now and start to enjoy the pregnancy. I found that after getting the all clear on the gastroschisis diagnosis that I actually broke the habit of worrying. Whole hours can now go by when I don't think about the baby at all. Hope this works for you too.

Don't think you need to worry about the flying. Check with the airline, but most don't need a doctor's note until after 28 weeks so you'll be fine in May. Going anywhere nice?

devilsadvocaat - love the dress. Must get some maternity trousers at the weekend. Fine so far in my normal dresses, but didn't have one to wear today, so am sitting here in a pair of trousers held up by an elastic band!

HC - nice bump! I also like your top - where did you get it? Are those 'normal' jeans - mine don't fit at all now, and my bump's not quite as big as yours.

DH and I have started discussing maternity leave plans and thinking about childcare arrangements. Am completely about the cost - I had no idea!!! Sat down last night to work out what all of our income and expenses are likely to be during mat leave and after return to work and was amazed to find that I'll be worse off after I return than I will be when on mat leave. DH looked really alarmed when I showed him the numbers. What have we done?????

BellaCullen · 28/04/2009 11:34

Hi sorry some of you had problems with dh/dp men just have no idea what we go through and are so thoughtless and immature. They never really grow up.

Flamestorm I hope you get sickness sorted out soon and can go on ADs.Its great youre admitting to how youre feeling and we`re all here for you.

Sammysam glad the scan went great but sorry about you`re consultant, hope your next scan goes well too.

DevilsAdvocaat really like the dress and they got lovely other clothes on there.

lal123 good luck with your scan today.

Feeling much better now,3 weeks on fri till scan cant wait.Calling bump just bump never really had nicknames.I cant wait to find out the sex just hope it hasnt got its legs crossed.Good for you,who can wait till birth to find out.Im just too impatient and I want to know which clothes to wash.

Treats, my jeans are from Mothercare, I turn down the stretchy bit to make the pic look better. My top is a non mat one from Next. I bought it in the store in a size 12 for £10. I see on line you can buy a 3 pack which is good. It seems to have a bit of stretching room in it and I am hoping it will be of use next summer.

lixanismapolium · 28/04/2009 15:53

Hello all. Went for our gender scan this morning, but all we discovered was how good little one is as keeping his/her legs crossed!!!! We have to go back next week to try again!
