Springy - so true, just have to keep going with the spermy sex then

Boffin - thats the thing though, they do massage me/do pushy things to my hip/ stroke me as far as they can (and have done since i have been going to be fair) and it makes me worse, they dont know what to do for the best and neither do i, we just seem to keep going in circles with no improvement, which is why i'm kida thinking its best if i'm left alone until afterwards. what do you think?

sorry to be a whingey old cow, i just need to sort out how to handle it really and talk through it so i can just say what i need to tommorow.

SpringySponge · 01/04/2009 23:08

Nutty, I have no real advice because I don't understand the mechanics of it all, but you should do whatever you think is best for you - not what you feel pressurised into by them. & it's April now. It's nearly over xx

thebluefoxategreensocks · 01/04/2009 23:08

me at 40 weeks pregnant and I've now got less than an hour left of the 1st of April, and then I'll be overdue! Then again, I think I'll decide the 12 wk dating scan was wrong, and I'm not due till the 7th of April (what my own dates were!)

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 23:15

Rachel - cool bump well if you go by your dates you will be a happy bunny if you go before x

Springy - thats the thing really its do i listen to them or do i just have a relaxing 4 weeks on the sofa with no appointments other than the consultant. i want to go for the left alone relax option but its getting my point across firmly but nice and have them still willing to help sort me out post baby if/when i need it. we shall see what they say though xx

SpringySponge · 01/04/2009 23:20

Rachel, you look way happier than I'm managing to feel

Nutty, I doubt they'll hold your refusal against you after the birth - just blame your hormones (& extreme pain!) for any grumpiness, if you need to.

I'm going to go to bed now. I hope to find BB well on her way to having a baby when I get up - I'm determined that she'll have a Thursday baby. DETERMINED

Night all xx

BoffinMum · 01/04/2009 23:27

Nutty, I have been thinking for a while that your pain relief hasn't really been sorted out to my satisfaction. Without reducing the levels of pain you are constantly in, it is impossible to improve mobility or flexibility much. It takes ages for pain gates to start closing IME, but it is possible, and then the chances of improvement are increased. But I am only a punter and by no means a medical expert, so let's hope Juwes has something to add.

Personally speaking, I also would avoid surgery at all costs if it was me, even if I had to completely change my life to get better another way. I don't think the kind of back surgery you have mentioned gets very convincing results at all.

But at the end of the day, it's your body.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 02/04/2009 00:20

Night Springy xx

Boff - the back surgery i'm cool with as dh has had the op twice (ok the second op was due to spinal fluid having leaked unnoticed and crystalised after the first op and bouncing round on the nerves eek) and i'm aware that it would be purely for pain relief purpouses, but seeing dh now running around fully fit compared to what he was like for 2 years (which was basically vegatative due to the pain and then doped up to the eyeballs) i think its worth it again only if they offer it (though they will probably send me on my merry way as per usual). though saying that it will only be worth it if the pain is still as bad as it has been over the last 8 months so i do have to wait and see, if its any better than it has been i will be happy to continue physio etc rather than go down the surgery route .

and i agree with you regarding the pain relief, i was left far too long on codine and paracetamol mix (solpadol) 1 hour relief 4 times a day wasnt really much good to me. the paracetamol only during the day then morphine at night ...well i must admit the morphine has helped my back and helped me sleep but not the spd (i'm praying that like you it eases sufficiently towards the end as it seems to have really kicked up a gear lately) which is quite odd really (possibly due to it only tackling one thing at a time?? i dont know?!) and again i have been left with virtually no relief during the day paracetamol doesn't really touch the sides and i'm not taking the morphine during the day for love nor money and it pleases the doctors. I like you am but a punter and to a degree have to take what i'm given and be grateful or so it would seem

but its 29 days to go and if i can just get through these last days with a degree of comfort and not get pulled about too much i'm hoping that it will be ok, theres a good chance that the SPD will receed into nothing then i just have to guage the back situation and come to some sort of arrangement with the back people.

(this is my new mantra anyway )

goodness i have banged on ....sorry i will stop now.

Woohoo!

Can't wait to go to bed now to get up tomorrow and check if there are more babies!!
It's like christmas!

By the way I had a really funny turn tonight. Was sitting on sofa having just had a sneaky bag of chips. Heartburn came on really bad and really fast, so went to the shop for rennies (shop is just across road), came back and spent a while in the bathroom trying not to be sick. Thankfully I wasn't. Then spent next half hour getting hotter and hotter and sweating like mad, even my ankles were sweating! Then sickness totally vanished and I got all shaky and dizzy and really really needed food. Anything as long as it was totally loaded with sugar. Crammed 2 jam donuts in so fast I hardly tasted them!
Felt better for a while, then a bit more heartburn which was helped very quickly with more rennies, then everything fine again and has been since.
Any ideas what that was all about? Is that just another crazy pregnant thing?

frekkles · 02/04/2009 00:42

oooh i do feel odd. Had some more show today and then tonight when i took my knickers off tonight they were soaking! If my dates are right rather than the scan dates then it's my due date tommorow. keep getting sharp pains down below, but not regularly, just maybe had a half dozen today.

but however, my bump is still really high, the baby is still moving lots and i'm not knocking down my bathroom walls. so it's prob nothing

but i do feel a bit odd mind.

tristaleejac · 02/04/2009 00:45

hey frekkles, sounds like things could be happening for you too. Did you stick on a pad to check leakage? Did you call MW or anything. Even for reassurance if you're feeling a bit 'not right'
Good luck!

frekkles · 02/04/2009 00:55

hey trista! how's you? I don't have any pads! I haven't even got my hospital bag packed yet. I think I may have to go shopping tommorow. I'm seeing the midwife on friday, so unless stuff continues tommorow I'll just wait till then. My scan dates says I'm not due for another 3 weeks so it's probably just a bit off practise things happening eh? Tis a bit exciting though, the whole not knowing thing. I'm mighty glad I've finally got myself to the head space of looking forward to labour in the last week. and i bought a baby hammock!

congratulations missy what fresh hell by the way, just noticed your birth story! xx

BoffinMum · 02/04/2009 06:33

Morning

Had grumblings all night. Off to DS2's new school first thing to see head. Note to self: MUST NOT GIVE BIRTH IN SCHOOL CAR PARK PRECIPITOUSLY, BOFF STYLE. WILL NEVER LIVE IT DOWN.

Nutty - can you get on the same pain relief regime as me, with the codeine and paracetemol 4 x daily? I have masses of 60mg codeine left if they are any use to you as I am now down to 30 mg. Pleased op worked for your DH, that is impressive. Make sure you get the same surgeon.

Trista - I got this with DS1, like diabetic hypos in a way. Must be insulin intolerance or something. Solved by taking 3 glucose sweets (eg Dextrose) whenever I started feeling odd. Saves a lot of calories and sweating. Took me most of the pg to work this out. Haven't had it in subsequent pg.

Frekkles - get a move on with your bag, woman! At the very least you need two packets of pads, some pjs and some nappies and clothes for the baby, plus your wash kit. Does the hospital have a shop?

BoffinMum · 02/04/2009 06:35

PS Nutty you are not a whingy old cow, you are a maternal heroine and an example to us all. xx

BoffinMum · 02/04/2009 07:12

Where are you all??

Continuing with Bleu's fairytale ....

So the little girl on her tenth birthday twirled and twirled in her fine embroidered cape, until all of a sudden, she realised that around her had grown a thick, thick forest. She staggered to a halt. And a magical voice boomed out of the forest "Follow me, to find your destiny".

... to be continued ...

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 07:25

Morning Boff - happy due date - and to you MM! yes do not give birth in the car park!!!

oooh frekkles, exciting

Had lots of bloody show last night, not too much more leakage so am wondering if it was a false alarm or if I am just waiting for more to come soon! Have to call the yucky mw at 8 to get her to come and check it.

Am very tired, got no sleep last night and not through pain really, feel very very sick, have had some toast and yogurt but just feel yucky this morning. Period pain continues slightly higher than normal but no tightenings as such.

Oddeyes - have you had that baby yet????

soon2befamilyof4 · 02/04/2009 07:52

Morning all. DD been up since 5 am again so very tired. Didn't get to sleep till about 1am and then had to get up to wee at 4 so nnot had much sleep at all. I am hoping my stash of lucazade will get me through the day. My Dad is coming over to do a few basic DIY bits for me (nothing like BB - just some fittings on the wall etc).

Well use jasmine oil last night (as still can't find my clary sage!) rubbed it all over my bump and baby went mad! Wouldn't stop bouncing around! Then DH used it to give me a back massage which is always nice. Then had sex afterwards which again seemed to trigger movement but not much else. Silly question - but is there any particular positions that are good for encouraging labour?

TBH although I want the stuff that my dad is coming to do done, I could just do without it today. I really fancy a day of just staying in and doing nothing (although not that I get much rest with DD around).

I also seem to have constantly wet underwear - but I don't think it is enough to be my waters or anything like that. Think just end of pregnancy dampness!

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 08:04

Morning soon2be

Quick question - in terms of your wetness it is more damp underwear or bit wet patches?

Re sex, don't think it matters really - whatever is comfortable!!

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 08:09

grrrr LOCAL MIDWIFE IS OFFICIALLY RUBBISH

Called today at 8am to be told they couldn't see me as they were simply too busy and they were going through mw handover so it wasn't convenient. Was called back 15 minutes later to be told not only were they too busy but they wouldn't see me because I wasn't registered at their labour ward - even though I am registered with their community midwife!

Phoned my lovely hospital and they have organised for me to go in there at 11 and combine my appointments from later as well as the monitoring to check what is happening!

When I get home there will be a strongly worded letter going to stupid mw centre!!

mathsmummy27 · 02/04/2009 08:17

BB - they are crap. You will enjoy writing the letter though and hey, you will sooon have a snuggly little one to cuddle so :p to them.

how are you this morning?

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 08:19

Morning all!
So, do we think Bleu has had her baby on the sly?

BB don't worry about the photo if it's a hassle to post, I just wanted visual evidence of your nesting extravaganza, because I couldn't quite fathom it. Hope things speed up or calm down soon, and that yucky MW isn't too yucky.

I'm seeing my MW in an hour (better have a shower soon, I think). Another bad night, with baby partying painfully as of 11pm, and then major pain down in the right hand side of my tummy, kind of a stitch, for ages at 5am. Am starting to find the walk to school in the monrning a bit heavy going, so have delegated to DH for tomorrow.

Checked my e-mail this morning to find it overflowing with messages after a lecturer in Tours was punched by police for trying to take a photo of them beating up a homeless guy on the fringes of a demo (yep, that strike is still going on). Female colleagues trying to get into a debate at the Sorbonne were threatened with rape by plainclothes policemen. Amnesty has published a report today on the impunity of the French police. Not that Sarko gives a stuff, he's busy handing out ultimatums (ultimata? ) to all and sundry at the G20 summit.

soon2befamilyof4 · 02/04/2009 08:19

BB - it is dap underwear I guess. Last time I had LOADS of waters:

LAST TIME - waters broke in bed, was soaked all down my legs so went to change. Went through several pads an hour all day and had seveal gushe of water. Everytime I had an internal I had a big gush and at one point - I sat on the loo for about 2 hours as pads were just not doing anything - it was a constant flow!!! They continues to leak the whole way till I had DD a couple of days later.

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 08:20

Oh BB, cross-posted. They really are shite aren't they?

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 08:23

OMG really that is loads of water - I have had nothing like that!!

Auld they really really are! Good delegation for tomorrow!!

MM feel sick but other than that no change really. How about you - any movement on you due date???

mathsmummy27 · 02/04/2009 08:25

Well I peed all over the bathroom floor this morning - bloody vibrating toothbrush and lack of pelvic floor!!

mathsmummy27 · 02/04/2009 08:26

off back to bed to snuggle DH - see you later all, BB lots of hugs and cervix dust xx

PS Auld - ultimata - I actually love you
