LOL MM enjoy the snuggles!!!

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 08:43

'twas just for you MM. Glad you were around to appreciate it!
Enjoy your snuggles.

I have stopped using my electric toothbrush as it was driving the baby crazy. And as for lack of pelvic floor, I have been experiencing many a near-miss thanks to this deep, chesty cough I still have...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/04/2009 08:48

GOOD MORNING!!!!!

sounds like things are starting to happen around here!!

and I had some great news yesterday! Baby has turned and is now head down!! yippeeee!!!

we have had some stern words about NOT moving again and i think s/he is listening so far! got another really nice profile shot from the scan. i'm going to have more pictures of this baby before it's born than after!!

not much else going on. DH and I went to costco and Ikea while DS was with MIL. had a nice day just being together.

i think i'm getting another fecking cold. my throat's feeling a bit yuck. and i was sick again last night. have worked out now to strip off and place a towel beneath me cause i can't even feel myself peeing anymore when i'm vomiting! so sexy.

BB - you really are insane tearing your bathroom down after your due date!!! you are taking this nesting thing too far!

brettgirl2 · 02/04/2009 08:52

Happy due date to Mathsmummy and Boffin x

BB - don't complain about the stupid MW refusing to see you. You didn't want to go and see her anyway, so this is in fact a RESULT. Sounds hopeful and like things are finally kicking off for you.

I had a curry on Monday and it made no difference. Am also eating lots of pineapple. It's just so frustrating because the baby is desperately trying to get out, she just hasn't worked out that my belly button is the wrong hole. I was thinking of booking some theatre tickets for the weekend to see if I can unleash the considerable power of 'sod's law'.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that this thread title jinxed us? There has not been a single baby born on this damn thread!

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 09:01

Brettgirl, do you think we should scupper the thread and choose a more wishy washy title?
Only 170 posts to fill, I'm sure Boff et al. would be happy to oblige/fight to the bitter end.

Theatre tickets sounds like a good idea.

Am about to plod off to the hospital. I am already feeling embarrassed about the rain forest covering my nether regions, as I've not dared do any removal work since my skin rash. I know MWs have seen it all, but I can't help feeling ashamed at just what a hairy beast I have become!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/04/2009 09:03

auld - but do you get belly hair when you are pregnant?

i've given up trying to look ok for these people.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/04/2009 09:04

oh brett - you reminded me that DH and I wanted to go see Waiting for Godot. just chekced and tickets are all sold out. (stupid LOTR and star trek fans probably bought them all)

AuldAlliance · 02/04/2009 09:07

Well now, Purplemonkey, since you ask, my belly is indeed very fuzzy. Fortunately, however, it's very fine and blonde, unlike the gorilla effect lower down.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/04/2009 09:09

you are very lucky. mine's growing in thick and dark. when i had DS one of the hospital staff commented on it. i was so
luckily it all fell out after (mostly!...i'm pretty hairy anyway)

surprisenumber3 · 02/04/2009 09:14

morning everyone!

Boff - with regards to waters, hind or fore or whatever, I still don't understand what happened with mine with DS2. Woke up to a massive pop and gush, like a river, had meconium in it so went straight to hospital. No more leakage at all, so had a 'dry' labour. Did my hind waters and fore waters go together in that case? Never thought to ask at the time!

Lots of potential activity on here today - won't be able to stay away. Need to clean clean clean today though before the DS's break up for Easter.

I actually slept last night apart from one wee stop, baby was relatively quiet, woke up with a panic but then felt hiccups so chilled out a bit! She is sticking needles in my cervix as we speak, lovely child!

Happy due date MM and Boff!

brettgirl2 · 02/04/2009 09:21

I don't have the energy to scupper the thread, but I'm sure someone else will before too long! I suggested the tickets to DH and he looked at me in that 'have you finally gone mad?' kind of way. . I did have three contractions first thing this morning lol. I would need him to book the anyway, because I need to 'conserve' my money . I'll talk him round..... although the other problem is that I can't actually stay awake after 9!

I missed a hairy tummy before the last MW appointment - there were three of them there gawping at me too. (MW, Student Midwife and Student Midwife's tutor.) I'm sure they weren't really that noticable though in comparison to the stretch marks

soon2befamilyof4 · 02/04/2009 09:30

BB - I think I had particually loads of water, I don't think that is normal, I have never hard of that anyway. But it makes sense though - I hardly ever felt her move, midwife could never get a heartbeat or if she did it was very vague so had to keep going to be monitored etc. But I think it was just that she was swimming round in loads of water so I didn't feel every movement. I do with this one though! Much stronger movements!

Juwesm · 02/04/2009 09:36

Morning ladies. Where are all the babies please?

Now that my official due date has passed, I think I shall be perfectly content to sit and incubate until 'my' due date comes along on the 10th. After that, I will get all fidgety again!

Smutty - I think the key in the short-term is just going to be taking the pain killers to the max doses you can tolerate, like clockwork. Once the bairn is out, analgesic options may be greater, although breast-feeding throws a spanner in the works! As long as no other medical reasons not to, you'll be able to get back on some anti-inflammatories. They could also consider using modified-release morphine instead of oramorph, to give you a constant trickle of analgesia, instead of quick bursts. Plus, there are lots of non-traditional analgesics (several drugs used for epilepsy/ depression) which can give excellent pain relief, esp if the pain is related to nerve damage or nerves which are firing off pain signals inappropriately. Don't know if you've tried any of these in the past with/out success. Have you seen a specialist pain consultant?

Mathsy thread for Maths

What can I eat now?

frekkles · 02/04/2009 09:43

eeeek, my nipples are doing stuff. I had a look at them this morning and they looked a bit shiny, so I gave them a squeeze out of curiousity and out came clear shiny stuff! good lord, twas freaky.

This morning I have damp pants and have sent blokey out for pads. Can't decide whether to call the midwife or not. I'm not getting any pains, although I am getting tightenings fairly regularly. I think I'll wait until tommorow when I have an appt anyway. I'm going to go mad with expectation aren't I if the whole of april is like this. how exciting and yet freaky as fuck.

yes, need to organise hospital bag. Shame that I'm feeling a bit rubbish with a cold today and don't want to move from bed. The flat's a state too.

Baby stay put thanks

PuzzleRocks · 02/04/2009 09:48

So let me get this straight, we have the following ladies in the running...

BB
Rachel
Ju
Boff
MM
Swali
Oddeyes
Frekkles

and Bleu has gone suspiciously quiet. We MUST have a baby at some point today, no?

purplemonkeydishwasher · 02/04/2009 09:55

it's like the grand national 2 days early!

Juwesm · 02/04/2009 09:57

I'm only in the running by dates Puzzle, not by actions!

frekkles · 02/04/2009 09:58

i think i must be just doing gearing up stuff a few weeks early. I haven't got any urge atall to unpack or even hoover.

does anyone have any suggestions for where I can buy a black/red nighty with a built in boob support ?

PuzzleRocks · 02/04/2009 09:59

I wonder if the excitement of the Grand National will send me into labour?
Actually I think I wondered that this time 2 years ago with DD. Maybe if I win. (My bet that is, obviously I am not riding) (Or being ridden for that matter)

frekkles · 02/04/2009 10:05

how many maternity pads do i need?

frekkles · 02/04/2009 10:06

hahahaha puzzle x

Juwesm · 02/04/2009 10:20

Ow ow ow ow! I do believe LO is trying to prise my cervix open with both hands!

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 10:22

frekkles, post baby lots but I went through 5 from 6 last night so I would get a fair few packets! Is it dampness or actual wet patches?

It might be worth calling your mw as you are having tightenings (that is one more symptom as me) but then again if you are not feeling uncomfortable then sure tomorrow would be fine:

This was the advice they go me - if your waters go brown / green / yellow or red call straight away and come in (mine went red but that was only because all the show got mixed up so was not a problem) and didn't have to go in.

If your temperature goes above 33 or you feel flu-ey (headachey etc) give them a call

If your contractions start and go 5-6 mins apart call and come in

Am sure you will be fine.

Nipples are perfectly normal - I keep forgetting to put my pads in and wake up with wet clothes every morning!!!

Puzzle, Oddeyes will def have hers today as labour started yesterday and today is official induction day so she will be next xx

BabyBolat · 02/04/2009 10:24

ha ha ju - I had that 2 days ago - was the freakiest feeling having the hands pull you around!!!
