BabyBolat: I had my waters go first with both of my 2 previous labours. However, the unfortunate thing was that 2 full days passed with nothing happening! Was very frustrating. And the bad thing with the first time was that I didn't expect this to happen and wasn't prepared...so I ended up with an induced hosptial birth (as contractions never came after 48+ hours!), and the experience was far from ideal (I'd planned a home birth). But I learned from the experience, so when the same thing happened again the 2nd time...we stuck to our instincts and said we weren't going into hospital just because 24/48 hours had passed. I refused all internal exams etc (to reduce risk of infection) and soon after the 48 hours passed...my contractions started and my son was born later that day. A lovely home birth and no problems/complications at all! Sooo, really, a lot of their talk of the risk of infection from PROM is theory, and so much isn't based on facts!

But hopefully you'll start labouring soon! and won't have to worry about any of that! xx

conkertree · 01/04/2009 20:42

sounds like a great idea bb - think it was auld talking about being hungry all the time. had sausages, onion jam and mustard mash about 2 hours ago but would easily have a good plate of fish and chips now.

wfh - lots of congratulations - sounds like you had a tough time but that it all worked out well in the end. hope the hormonal stuff calms down soon and hope you get some sleep.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 20:50

BB - just got dh to describe my waters to me for your reference very clear but orangey towards the end, huge gush (though yours sound like its on a trickle at the mo, bear in mind i was ready to push straight after they had gone and my plug had gone hours previously and i had my big bloody show at the same time sorry TMI x), i remember the sweet smell (not wholly unpleasant, not particularly nice either)

I have had loads of discharge today - is this normal? I think I remember having it for a good couple of weeks before DD was born. Was wondering if it could be a show, but maybe that doesn't really mean much either.

REALLY wanted to get a take away tonight, but had turkey that needed using tonight. Couldn't be bothered to do anything with it so just had it with rice and gravy. Have enough to make a rice salad tomorrow so not too bad.

I fancy a curry too, but chicken tikka is about the most spicy thing I would enjoy so won't do anything for labour!

Planning on sex tonight but I have the same problem as disussed last night with the lack of foreplay so it isn't very exciting. Do organisms help to encourage labour or is it just the sperm?

Would love to go into labour! I should forget about it for now as I know all this just makes the last few weeks drag out!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 21:02

Soon2Be - Orgasms are supposed to be essential as well as the sperm. lots of discharge is normal to, i have had loads recently.

Ok - so if I were to do the job myself a few times during the day it might help bring things a long? .

lou031205 · 01/04/2009 21:13

Just popping back on

IT IS ALL LIES!

37+2 now.

Pineapple - check - 2 whole pineapples
Curry - check - Thai green curry
Sex - check - many times
Walking - check - 2 miles per day, 5 days per week. As vigorous as can manage, pushing 2 toddlers in a double buggy.

Baby - no check
Contractions - no check

ALL LIES, I tell you.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 21:15

you need the middle bit of the pineapple and at least 7 for it to be effective apparently???

have you tried RLT??? also BJ's!!

OP posts:
conkertree · 01/04/2009 21:16

sorry lou - but the bottom line does seem to be they come when they are ready and not before.

otherwise i cant see anybody choosing to go 12 days over etc.

think we need something else to do to take all our minds off it. any suggestions?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 21:17

Soon2Be - you can but try

also none of this is meant to be effective unless you're ready.......

37 weeks may be a bit premature

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 21:19

Conker - we could place bets on when BB might go into proper labour/give birth??

OP posts:
Swaliswan · 01/04/2009 21:21

I'm back and am not stropping any more. Student midwife is being lovely and I'm very glad that she will be there to deliver me.

I'm starting to be happier that DD will be home tomorrow as I will be distracted from any thoughts about when this baby will be born. Then on friday I'm going to have my haircut.

Just a few more hours and I will be 36+5! Not much longer to hold on now!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 21:22

we could do a web hunt ....... choose an item to search for and the closest/best/funniest result/link wins??

OP posts:
OddEyes · 01/04/2009 21:25

drum roll please...

conkertree · 01/04/2009 21:27

sounds like a good idea smutty. anything to make us think of things other than babies.

and my bet is for friday for bb.

conkertree · 01/04/2009 21:28

BoffinMum · 01/04/2009 21:33

Back from curry - very nice.

Bit disappointed BB didn't give birth into a hard hat, tbh.

BB - sounds like your hindwaters are leaking, because you only tend to get a gush if the front section goes. Don't let them bully you into an induction for a good long while unless you are personally desparate to have one (cos they don't always work anyway but can cause worry and discomfort), and the thing about refusing internals where possible is very wise. Also avoid baths and sex (of course).

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 01/04/2009 21:33

Oddeyes - my suspenders are killing me!!!!!, they're snapping under the suspense tell us whats going on..........

OP posts:
OddEyes · 01/04/2009 21:33

just back from hospital cause:
waters (clear) broke at 6pm. had sooo much bloody show all day was wearing pads, otherwise would have been really embarrased in front of PiL.
went to hosp to be monitored etc, wanted to keep me in but escaped- for sleep.
am in labour but can't feel every contraction, they regular at 3min50, but only feel the big spikes!

ohh, hurrah! can see from this page there has been excitement elsewhere off to check but mightn't be back as need some sleep, didn't get my nap today cause PiL arrived.

hoping things don't kick off before I have had some good sleeps but am back at hospital as planned anyway at 8 tomorrow so will keep conker posted.

OddEyes · 01/04/2009 21:35

sorry i got distracted by a few stronger contractions, just taken paracetamol. so what has happen to BB?

BoffinMum · 01/04/2009 21:35

Oooh, how exciting OddEyes.
Everybody is at it now. Imagine if we were really in the commune.
