daffodilli, stast thread is here - I've updated it a little but might well have forgotten somebody.

Funny, I find boys' names much easier than girls' - that's not to say that agreeing on one is easy on either though!

mummyhill · 21/04/2009 20:43

Glad to hear the scans went ok. Mine is a week on Thursday and although I am not going to ask I will be looking! Will try to keep it quiet though!!!!

audreyraines · 21/04/2009 20:53

i looked at a few pics online of boy/girl ultrasound so i knew what to look for, and actually it was really obvious when the scanner went to that view!

LittleCheese · 21/04/2009 21:34

congrats on good scan results ladies, mine is tomorrow. I really cant wait now. Still not going to find out the sex though

muffinmum · 22/04/2009 02:38

hello, could i join the due in septembers?i know am quite late in joining but had a bleed at 6wks pg and have been bit superstitious since then, dont think i'll really believe all ok til next scan which is tomorrow (thursday).i didnt get one at 12wks as they were a bit mean and said they had dated from the 6wk one so had to wait til this one.
my Due date is 18th sept and i already have a fab dd who was just 3yrs old, also DH and a standard issue brown dog.
I've just started feeling normal after being v.tired, i'm usually a night owl but have been having to be in bed by 11pm, having lapse tonight and know will be knacked in the morning.think am about to order dreamgenie as well, woke up really dizzy couple of nights ago when dh away and dd screaming, must have been asleep on my back now have been reading posts.it was quite strange to say the least and walking round bed to get out of room took the sort of concentration usually required after a lot of vino!i still bumped all the walls though and had to sit down on the floor.
my current dilemma is vbac or c section as horrible traumatic birth with dd when she got stuck on way out (head was visible)then in distress, tried ventouse then 7 mins later she was out via emergency c section.dd fine apart from such a bruised skull ( i was v.determined to push her out)paediatrician had to examine her to check she didnt have fractured skull.i know from RL friends that a planned section is totally different but would love to walk and not hobble out of hospital this time.has taken this long to summon up courage to have 2nd baby and i have been constantly suprised by how sad dds birth still makes me.ridiculous really as she is great and happy and healthy which is the main thing.
anyway sorry about long late night post but would love to join the gang if ok

blue76 · 22/04/2009 07:08

Welcome muffinmum I too posted on the wrong thread! Will say again tho - I think it's terrible that you weren't given a scan at 12 weeks. I thought they were routine...I had had 3 scans by the time 12 week one came around.

Had a terrible night's sleep last night...baby kept curling into a tight ball (or it felt that way) and I kept waking up on my back, unable to turn over due to shooting pains in my lower back and down my left leg!

Also come out in a spotty rash all over my chest...

Sorry for moaning! I'd felt great for the past few weeks (since all the bleeding had ceased)

Neddie · 22/04/2009 08:13

Welcome muffimum I am now officially sick of being pregnant with twins. i thought one was bad but 2 takes the biscuit. I am glad to be having them just hate not being able to do anything. My pregnancy brain is so bad now I can't even remember how pregnant I am! I think I must be 19 weeks and a few days as my 20 week scan is on Wednesday. At least I didn't have morning sickness this time but rash on chest -yes and very itchy skin. Left hand twin is active all the time but right hand one moves very little- or can't be felt as much.
Off to farm to see if one of my mares has foaled last night.

audreyraines · 22/04/2009 08:16

that is terrible that they didn't give a 12 week scan , esp after you had a bleed, i'm sure another scan would have been reassuring to you. welcome though. x

LizLemon · 22/04/2009 09:10

welcome muffinmum bit at you not having a 12 week scan. Think my head would have exploded if I hadn't.

Good news audrey and pooka

Sorry to hear the twins are getting you down Neddie. They will be so worth it all in the end, but you know that... And there I was feeling a bit blue for having been a party pooper last night and going home at 10. If I'm tired you must be knackered

Bought my first thing for the baby, a little sleepsuit. Partly because my friend's baby is due now so I went to get them a present and you got a fiver off if you got two...but still. Actually haven't heard from my friend in a couple of days - texted yesterday to ask if everything was ok, not wanting to be one of those people who calls constantly to ask, but haven't heard a peep back. Maybe it's all happening now...

The weather is amazing. If it stayed just like this til October I'd be a happy bunny.

Thusnelda · 22/04/2009 09:31

LizLemon, I've given myself the go-ahead for buying the occasional baby thing now - It's been 13 years of buying presents for my friends' babies, now it's finally my time! And of course I've been practicing dressing and undressing dolls and teddies since about 35 years ago now, so it's rather nice to know that I'll finally get to do the real thing soon.

muffinmum, I totally agree, not giving you a 12 weeks scan is quite appalling. Hope tomorrow's scan will be all the better for it!
I'm also really sorry for your birth experience, it does sound horrible. Glad your daughter is fine though! Did they find out exactly why it was so complicated? I think you should try and not think about it so much just yet, because you don't have to make a decision for a long time yet. And closer to the birth you'll have more information, too, about how the baby is lying and whether they think it's going to be large etc.

pebblebeach · 22/04/2009 09:59

Morning all, can I join too! I've only just discovered the ante-natal club section , I'm a bit slow! and would love to join you ladies.

I'm due 10th Sept with no.2, so hitting 20wks tomorrow, how did I get to half way so soon!

Glad you're all enjoying the weather, it is fab.

TigerFeet · 22/04/2009 10:03

Hi muffinmum, I hope you enjoy your scan. I'm sorry you had such a rough time with your dd and I hope you get an easier time this time.

Neddie I am pissed off with lugging one around so I can only imagine how you feel with two... Let us know about your mare, I love a good birth story

Spatone arrived this morning... talking of pregnabrain I can't imagine why it didn't occur to me to get hold of some until daffodilli suggested it

ladylush · 22/04/2009 15:35

Welcome pebblebeach and muffinmum
Muffinmum - very shocked that you didn't get a 12 week scan. How mean . All the best with your 20 week scan

Snowfalls108 · 22/04/2009 17:09

Welcome - wow there are so many of us now.

Scan tomorrow - can't wait.
Sorry to all those of you are feeling rubbish.
I went to a pregnancy yoga class yesterday - it was great. Really helped with relaxation and to help me feel a bit more supple.

blue76 · 22/04/2009 18:28

Welcome pebblebeach Neddie I've been to GP about itchy spotty rash on chest. She confirmed what I already presumed...HORMONES FECKIN HORMONES
Anyhoo she prescribed hydrocortisone and diprobase...here's hoping!

daffodilli · 22/04/2009 18:50

Welcome to pebblebeach and muffinmum! lots of us here now, Dec must have been a fun time for all!

blue - is there anything that is not down to 'hormones'?! Doc I've broken my leg, ah yes,its the hormones you know..!

Snowfalls - I've been thinking about yoga, seem to be getting a bit stiff already, and a bit of relaxation now I'm back in work wouldn't go amiss either Good luck with the scan tomorow, are you finding out pink or blue?

One day to go til scan,so exited, this week is dragging!

peachygirl · 22/04/2009 19:00

Hi all I think I have managed to catch up.

Muffinmum I'm also a posibly a Vbac girl. I had an elective last time due to breech baby and It was a good experience. I have this book Vbac handbook
and it is very good, easy to read , to the point and written from a British POV. I think several of the other books are from the US. the NCT do an info sheet to which I can also link to. when we get nearer you are welcome to contact me to chat about it all more if you like.

On the issue of Hair dye I have and will continue to dye my hair during my pregnancy My greys are pretty bad at the moment. Those touch up kits are really good though so will probably do a couple of those too.

Congrats to everyone who have their scans. Mine still seems a long way away.

DD had her first full day at nursery today (previously has been with a childminder) and she has had a great day, a bit grizzly this afternoon, due to being tired and then tears when she saw me but has been active and busy all day. I am very proud of her!!!

peachygirl · 22/04/2009 19:01

Oooh sorry Welcome new ladies!!!

pebblebeach · 22/04/2009 19:40

Thanks for all the lovely welcomes!

Snowfalls yoga class sounds great, am v jealous, there are no classes like that near me. When I was pg with DD1 I had a pg yoga book and did 5-20mins about 4ish mornings a week, it made me feel great for the rest of the day, I would highly recommend it, and got rid of the every-morning-headache I had. I really believe the stamina/strength/flexibility/breathing/relaxation it gave me contributed to my ~7.5 hr labour without pain relief, even though I was made to lie down (onside then on back for pushing) from 3cms on.

I did dig out the book in 1st trimester and but only managed to find the time twice and somehow it's not quite the same now the previous bump thinks its funny to climb all over present bump to join in Must get more motivated and take my own advice....

Oh and congrats on the scans!! ... mine is the 2nd May

bigbang · 22/04/2009 19:41

Hello everyone!

Welcome to new ladies

I want to do yoga but not sure its going to happen. The classes I went to with ds have gone up to £11 a session which seems ridiculous to me. Also wouldn't be able to get to them easily, with dp coming home 6.30/7ish and having to hand over ds etc. Hey ho we shall see, I'm not particularly motivated at the moment anyway.

Congrats to everyone with scan news. 18th May seems like years away!

audreyraines · 22/04/2009 20:40

neddie and blue, i have awful itchy back ALL the time, it is driving me nuts.

Minshu · 22/04/2009 21:29

Good evening ladies. Loads of info on the sleeping on the back there - think I might look into getting one of those pillows.

Can someone give me a slap, please? I'm getting paranoid about the lack of movement. I thought I felt something a day or so back, but nothing since, so now am thinking the worst. Slap me, please!!

Due to my normal levels of paranoia, I've not bought anything for the baby yet. I got my bounty club bag of freebies from Asda at the weekend, and was disappointed that there was nothing in there. I'm sure my friend got a little baby hat in hers a few years back. The sample nappy doesn't have the same cutesie factor, somehow

Minshu · 22/04/2009 21:36

Oh - and as for pregnancy brain - I was wondering why my Dad hadn't said anything about his birthday present. It turns out I got it sent to the wrong address, although he's lived in the same place for over 10 years and I've never needed to look it up before.

Hoping to get to ante natal yoga tomorrow - especially after Pebblebeach's recommendation. Just need to make sure that I get out of work in time...

LittleCheese · 22/04/2009 21:43

Welcome muffinmum and pebble beech, I cant believe how many of us there are.

I had my scan today and it was lovely. We have a very wriggly little bubble in there and all looks well. I cant believe I wont get to see the baby again until september now, it seems so long away.

I was also thinking about yoga classes but the "local" ones to me aren't that local and i think they are quite expensive.

Good luck to those with scans tomorrow

pooka · 22/04/2009 21:45

I also went to ante-natal yoga last night!

I love it - didn't go when pregnant with dd. With ds, I decided to arm myself with as many skills as possible to have a better labour, and found the yoga class so helpful. Am aching a bit today though
