Ooh Minshu - what makes you convinced it's a boy?

Stretch · 14/04/2009 23:46

Hi all! Hope you are all well!

Well, sickness has gone only to be replaced by heartburn!

Littlecheese - I have had bad sciatica with all 4 pregnancies and it's horrible. I find being on my ball alot helps and DH has to turn me over in the night as I get bigger!!

Scan on 8th May, DH has booked it off and the following week as it's DS's 1st birthday!!

Does anyone not feel at all broody? I don't! I think it's because I have 3 years inbetween the other DC's, but DS is only 11 months and still a little'un, whereas the others have been out of nappies etc.. before the next child is born!!

Anyone got any bump pics? I will post mine later.

x

Morning ladies and welcome to our newbies

Been feeling a lot of kicks for the last few weeks and dh has also felt them which is nice. Scan is in 12 days.

TPT measurement is still 7.5 sheets. Am doing it in the morning but i would guess that i am a sheet bigger by the evening. Have put on 7lbs in 18 wks so am still quite pleased.

It was my birthday yesterday and dh bought me a few clothing bits from JojoMamanBebe and also bought me an iPhone. Spent a lot of yesterday trying to in put my numbers and it is taking ages! Am only on J and have loads left to do.

Have a major ant infestation as well [eww] they are everywhere - off to the shops later to find something to get rid of them!

pooka · 15/04/2009 08:04

Stretch - I'm also not feeling amazingly broody. THink it's because I'm just knackered and a bit bored TBH of not feeling quite right. Which is odd, because I loved being pregnant with dd and ds. Ho hum.

Aprilmeadow - I've put on a grand total of about 16 pounds since I conceived (near enough - at least since the day I found out). In fact made a concerted decision this morning when I was getting dressed that I'm going to buy lots of fruit today and try cutting out the biscuits and cakes. I think that that is exacerbating my heartburn anyway. Felt awful last night - like I was getting a stomach bug, sick and bloated and really gassy. Feel better this morning, and like I am getting a cold instead, but am going to start watching what I eat a little more.

ladylush · 15/04/2009 09:31

Stretch I am feeling quite broody - didn't at all when pg with ds so finding it quite weird. Hope you had a great birthday

April - I've decided not to weigh myself as don't want to get depressed! People keep telling me I look small but I know this will change because it was the same with ds - I looked small for ages then suddenly was massive at 9 months. Must be nice for your h to feel the kicks I can feel them but they can't be felt on the outside of my tummy yet.

ladylush · 15/04/2009 09:32

Er sorry - I meant to say hope April had a nice birthday. Ditzy pregnancy brain

peachygirl · 15/04/2009 09:43

Hi everyone I'm working today in Dh's room so I'll be able to catch up and join in with the daytime chat.

Had previously forgotton to say welcome to all the new mums to be. Have you found the stats thread?

daffodilli · 15/04/2009 10:05

Wow - lots going on! Saw quite a few tumbleweeds going across my screen Easter weekend was so quiet here!

Welcome to all newbies!

Happy belated birthday April - sounds like you got nicely spoiled!!

LJ congrats on your little blue bump glad scan was ok x

Went to work yesterday and everyone was a bit disapointed at the size of my bump, I think that as they hadn't seen me for nearly 4 months they expected me to be huge, forgetting that I'm only 18 weeks, lost loads of weight and its a first baby! I was a bit as am very proud of my little bump, and had bad dreams last night re baby not growing properly which was horrible. So did not measure yesterday.

Is anyone taking or has taken Spatone? am so tired still and cannot get through day without sleep!

LizLemon · 15/04/2009 10:13

April - happy birthday! Nice haul I've put on the same amount of weight as you, which I'm quite happy about, but haven't done tpt this week - I feel much bigger than last week. I'm weighing because I watched my friend put on a total of four stone and I decided that wasn't for me...

Congrats on the boy LJ!

Picked up a dream genii pillow yesterday from someone locally - it was a gift to her but she already had one so it was brand new. Best night's sleep I've had in ages, possibly because I sleep on my back usually, but I worry about it now, and wake up umpteen times in the night to roll over. Feel like a new woman this morning.

what is spatone? I could google I know...

daffodilli · 15/04/2009 10:19

LizLemon - its water with naturally high iron content, comes from Snowdonia I think! It can be used in pregnancy but just wondered whether anyone found it any good!

bigbang · 15/04/2009 10:21

Hello everyone!

Welcome to all the new people, this tread is very busy and full now- I'm having trouble keeping up with everyone. Hope all is well.

I haven't been doing my TPT I'm afraid, I keep forgetting. I will try to do it next time I'm in the bathroom. I am looking massive though, several people over the weekend commented on it, they were shocked I wasn't due till September. Someone else asked if I was sure it wasn't twins! Would love to do bump pictures, I want to see if I am actually that big compared to the lot of you

I am the total opposite and am completely broody. I keep blubbing over tiny baby things!

April, happy birthday I have a big birthday coming up in a couple of weeks, but very unexcited about it for some reason. I think I would rather it was just September already.

Is anyone else not working and a SAHM with an older child? Or planning on being one?! I am at the moment and I have to say I am finding it tough. I am doing some OU stuff to try and keep 'me' going but I'm getting to this strange urge to go and get a job Nobody would hire a pregnant woman only planning on staying in the job till August would they?! I keep searching the jobs in my 'field' and planning my applications. I think I am going a bit mad.

daffodilli · 15/04/2009 10:29

Bigbang - I would love to do less hours to spend more time with the LO, but still want to keep my job as I do enjoy it, and think I would feel a bit lost with no job as have worked since I was 16. BUT, obviously I might decide that I cannot possibly let baba out of my sight once he/she is born and just quit....DH would have a thousand fits!!

peachygirl · 15/04/2009 10:33

Blimey where did you all pop up from?

pooka · 15/04/2009 10:53

Bigbang - I am a SAHM with dd at school and ds going to pre-school 2 afternoons a week, after being with a childminder/friend in the morning.

I usually freelance from home writing reports. But recently all the freelancers were told that there'd be no work until the market picks up (in a construction related field). So I have no work. I haven't cancelled the childminder because ds likes going there and (guilty) it does mean I get 2 free days a week during school hours to crack on with whatever needs doing. This will carry on until January when ds's lovely childminder will prob give up

I'm torn between missing freelancing and being relieved that there are no deadlines hanging over me. I do miss the money and the intellectual stimulation. But am wary of signing up to anything to replace freelance because things may pick up and I want to be in a position to take on work if work is there, for my own sanity as much as for any other reason.

Find that I've been kind of knocked for six by going away first week of easter and still being on easter holidays (from school) - all semblance of routine seems to have disappeared and I feel a bit lost without my weekly routines. Never realised I was so reliant on structure to my week

mummyhill · 15/04/2009 10:56

Hi

Welcome to all the newbies.

I am not feeling very broody and to be honest am not enjoying this pregnancy much at all at the moment.

I have a lovely chest infection thanks to DD.

Still being sick!

And to top it off we have thunder storms which are causing havoc with my head.

daffodilli · 15/04/2009 11:10

Poor you mummyhill - all illness should be on hold whilst pregnant xx hope we dont get any thunder here, I'll be hiding behind the sofa and it is grim for headaches

peachygirl · 15/04/2009 11:15

{sad} at all the illnesses. It is awful when you are pregnant too.

audreyraines · 15/04/2009 12:25

bigbang, i'm a SAHM with 2.3 year old. i find the whole concept of childcare this young quite overwhelming (me a control freak???) so would rather do it myself. i do go crazy at times, but having a good network of friends with similar aged kids really really helps keep me sane.

BabyLady · 15/04/2009 14:49

Hi everyone,

Belated birthday wishes April and congrats on your baby nesw LJ.

Am heading off to my 20 week scan in about 15 mins. Am starting to get a bit twitchy nervous. Fingers crossed it is all ok.

I am planning on being a sort of SAHM. I am planning to give up my M&A job as can't see how that is remotely condusive to having a family but I am planning to get back into some kind of work (no idea what) once the baby is a bit older.

I am starting to feel like I am getting massive - though everyone is assuring me I am not. Have put on about 8.5lbs at 21 weeks today. I am ok with that, but as circa 3lbs has happened in the last two weeks I hope it slows down a little.

Will update you all tomorrow. Enjoy your afternoon.

LJ29 · 15/04/2009 15:11

Thanks ladies.Looking forward to hearing what everyone else is having.

Have only put on 4/5 pounds so far at 18 wks which I am pleased about as I had 4 stone to lose before I got pg!

audreyraines · 15/04/2009 16:11

LJ, have only put on about 4 pounds as well, but mainly because i was so sick and i didn't eat much for 3 months! i sure am making up for it now though and i expect i'll be catching up soon

hope the scan goes well babylady, am really looking forward to mine.

iamamummy · 15/04/2009 17:04

hi ladies

happy birthday april

huge congrats on a boy LJ!

i feel very guilty about not keeping up with you all but things are really taking their toll and im so tired all of the time and my sickness has kicked in again. sick all morning then very queasy rest of day and night

i see mw tomorrow to hear babs heartbeat for first time and sexing scan sat woohoo!!!

i have lost 7 IBs so far this pregnancy - however i was exactly same with ds and i piled on 1 1/2 stone in last couple of months. i am not fussed how much i gain as i intended to go on a complete diet overhaul before conception so its just been delayed 9 months

hope you are all well (apart from the ones with illnesses [hug] ) and enjoying this gorgeous weather!!

xx

hulihoops · 15/04/2009 17:37

goodness me it's busy here! thanks for the welcomes, sorry for the illnesses and lack of sun!
I'm sort of a SAHM - my husband and I have our own business so I work when I can, either at home or the office. I'd highly recommend working for yourself, even in this economy!
Depending where you live, there are jobs that would fit around school (if you are going to send your children to school) my sister works for someone in London for the hours she can do. I guess it depends on your child as to what you can do at home with them. But if they're still taking naps, or if they're happy doing their own thing for a short time, then you can fit things in then, and in the evening.
You may find women led small businesses are more likely to employ you, for short periods too. We'd like to employ someone, but are too scared to take them on! If it were a short term contract type thing, that would be much easier. But then there's childcare costs of course.

LizLemon · 15/04/2009 18:00

Sorry to hear about illnesses and thunder - hope all of that clears up soon.

The water sounds interesting daffodilli - my MIL lives right next to Snowdon so perhaps I should get her to investigate.

I work for myself, but the majority of the work I'm doing at the moment (since other things have dried up) I don't want to do when I have the baby - I'm a cat sitter, which means I don't see Easter or Christmas and it can mean having no days off at all for a month at a time. Ideally I'd want to do something for two days a week and keep the rest free to be a SAHM, but I have no idea if it'll work. I want to stay self-employed if possible - can't imagine going back to working for someone else permanently.

daffodilli · 15/04/2009 18:44

Have googled Spatone and it seems like pretty good stuff - advised whilst TTC,during pregnancy and when baby is born, especially if alot of blood is lost during birth . Think I will give it a go and will report back! Save your MIL trekking the hills LizLemon!

Anyone seen the reports on Home Births on the news? Have admitted to DH that I would love one,was a bit worried to say that I wanted one as obviously have no experience of birth and have no idea how I'll react - but I've always had a feeling I'd be better at home, and was going to stay at home for as long as possible anyway, with mums support, even if I did go to hospital in the end. Would it be a crazy thing to do for a first timer? DH is happy with it which really helps!

Thunder headed to South Wales for tonight apparently! Will probably spend the whole night awake hiding under the duvet I hate it!
