bunnymother · 28/04/2009 09:51

Morning ladies!

A girlfriend of mine sent me the funniest book that I recommend, purely as a laugh, for all mums-to-be or new mums. Its called "Porn for New Mums" and has photos of dishy, but clothed men, saying highly improbable (but v attractive) things ie man at a desk saying as "I'll be right there, hon. I'm just finishing the last of the baby shower thank-you cards", and man w baby in a sling saying "I'm taking her to the women's soccer game, and then we'll stop at the supermarket on the way home". Just priceless!! Here is alink

Gosh, quite a few of us are due around 4, 5 and 6 June. Agree that it will be interesting to see what order the LOs actually decide to arrive in.

LittleSarah - you were thinking about more sleepsuits. So am I, plus I am also buying vest suits and wanted to mention that the only ones I have been able to find that open at the neckline are the Boots Essential (ie cheap) ones. Just in case anyone else is looking to buy vest suits.

Thanks for all the kind words re the growth scan! Am not too worried (I think!), but its something that I will keep an eye on at future appointments, too.

Laura - congrats on only gaining 16lbs. Am sure that's v healthy and will make it easy to return to form. I have put on 15kgs! Am going places on the scales I have never been before! . But as long as can still fit into same size maternity jeans am not too bovvered. Until I ride the next hormonal wave and feel blue/angry/tense. Hard to know until I am on the wave!

Well, the weather here today is, despite the forecast, looking lovely! So I better hop to it (ha ha, so funny for a bunny). Sorry!! Have lovely days, Juners!!

daisy5 · 28/04/2009 09:53

Hi all

I have taken a paracetamol for the last three nights to get to sleep, but still waking from 1.30 till 4.00ish coughing and spluttering. doris I gave up on the prescribed cheap Gaviscon (Acidex - how bad is that name) as it seemed to do nothing much for me, and bought the real Gaviscon.

Getting poor sleep for the past two weeks is really leaving me a bit of a mess during the daytime and I've noticed my driving deteriorate - hopefully no smashes or big mistakes. I keep worrying I'll leave something unlocked or drop loose important things.

I'm planning long walks (with mobile phone at the handy) and many curries from week 37 onwards as just want to give birth now.

mrsmc - By the hospital dates I'm technically due on 4th June too, but by my dates 6 June. When I want it to be over sooner I use the 4 June date!

I'm sorry - I am loosing the plot here and cannot remember who said what.

Oh, should we splice the list into regulars and non regulars as some of these people only came on once in the first trimester and never reappeared. I've quickly spliced but may have made some mistakes - what do you think?

June2009 · 28/04/2009 10:01

I can't figure out why the names at the bottom of the list are coming up in bold and with stars :S
Insy and muminmiddleeast, when are you due?

Doris I'm with you on the sleep deprivation. I've been awake since 4:30am DH snores, which doesn't usually bother me, but it wakes him up and then he accuses me of snoring!

I've not had any leg cramps in a few days, probably because I'm keeping my legs up because of the swelling in my ankles.

Work is stressing me out badly. I came back from the AN class yesterday in tears after watching a video of new mums looking after their newborn babies. It made me anxious about how it's all going to work out.
I know that when a good routine with the book keeper is established I'll have a lot less to do, but the pressure of getting everything up to date is getting to me.

The baby is dancing around in there and I love watching my belly move, I've not had any BH this trimester yet.

The beautician said I am growing blond hairs on my legs (I'm a brunette).

I'll break the rules a little and apologise for the me posts and not being able to catch up with everyone anymore

Naat · 28/04/2009 10:03

OH, yes, Daisy thanks for that! The other list is endless and there're loads of people who haven't posted for ages!
Hope Gaviscon works for you and that you can start sleeping better before LO arrives.

Bunny I shouldn't look at that link now! I must work hahaha, but it does sound funny... I'll have a look at it later.

Effie Welcome! You're really close now!! 22nd May!! Oh how lovely!

Right, back to work

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 10:26

Thanks daisy and june. I do agree that the split list is much easier to handle!

Welcome effie!!

Well, managed to not throw up after yesterday before breakfast, so back at work today. Coworker has brought in car seat, so now I have: -

Car Seat
Cot
Changing table
Some clothes
Nappies

Let's see...what's missing...oh yeah...BABY!!

insywinsyspider · 28/04/2009 10:56

Hello all,

Had a horrible couple of days dealing with a d&v stomach bug (or it may have been something I've eaten as friends cooked us fish on Sat night and dh had the runs but nothing else, they cooked boys sausage and mash and they've been fine) anyway now not been able to eat for 48hrs as have stomach cramps but mostly just not felt hungry, saw mw yesterday just to check baby was ok and have ketones in my urine which is too be expected but luckly she didn't seem too worried as baby doing fine and now head down. Was off work yesterday anyway and dh rather than taking day off took boys to nursery and then we fell out this morning when I said I was coming into work (only 3 weeks left at work and 2 meetings this am) and he accused me of being selfish I would never do anything to put baby or me at harm and he refused to admit that putting boys in nursery (and costing us an extra £70) was selfish too, why is it they think their jobs are more important?!? I actually think he was tired and couldn't face a day looking after them anyway sitting at my desk now, don't feel great so may well leave early to get some rest but at least I got what I needed doing done, will try and catch up with all your news and post later but hope you're all ok

oh and I'm due 18th June

blueberrysorbet · 28/04/2009 11:10

mrsmcjnr, am also going off my consultant, maybe we are having a parallel experience we get private health and all expats have to pay anyway... i refuse to go in and get results of tests now, i just get him to email me, otherwise its a long wait and a big bill.

am due 3/4 june as well. am also suffering from pins and needles.
am quite about my strep b experience as have looked it up. might email him to say ok. will discuss with dh i think.

ds is asleep so off to eat and rest, waves to you all, hope you having a good day.

am packing hospital bag btw, before i get too immobile to do it. or baby comes early

lauraloo09 · 28/04/2009 12:05

morning all hope everyone is ok

weather here today is cloudy but i'm picking up my niece from nursery so looking forward to seeing her
Got a decent sleep last night, woke up at 3 and fell asleep again at 8 until 11 hips are sore yet again but it's something i can live with

naat here's hoping your LO doesn't come early

insy poor you i hope your feeling better now x

tee glad your feeling a bit better now and it was nice of your coworker to give you a car seat...i'm the same as you got everything apart from the baby

daisy thanks for splitting the list, seems much easier to handle with just the regulars on it.

doris glad your midwife appointment went well yesterday and that everything is measuring correct. I have been having BH since starting raspberry leaf tea on saturday.

mrsmcjnr good on you finding your hypnobirthing cd...silly question what is a hypnobirthing cd and what does it do?

Sorry i'm missing other juners my mind has been all over the place recently

Effielou · 28/04/2009 12:58

Thank you for my welcome!!! I wish I'd joined sooner- as you all seem to have fun, support and encourage on another!!!

My 22nd May date- is just to get mt c-section date- gonna push for beginning of June-My daughters 8th B'day is the 23rd May- so want to avoid at all costs!!! but what will be!!

Hope to chat to you soon--- Does anyone else have SPD?? I do and its soooo painful!!!

Time for a peaceful lunch and cuppa as son is now at pre-school!!!

lots of love xx

June2009 · 28/04/2009 14:33

Hey Effie welcome ;)
Yeah there's a few of us with SPD, have you seen a physio/got a supprt belt?
I've seen a physio a few weeks back and she has given me exercises to do (mainly pelvic floor & abs) and I've been able to manage the pain. However I know some others here have had it a lot worse than me.

Daisy Yeah that list is much easier to read. I hope your dd is better and you get some sleep soon.

naat hope your flat move/baby coming works out at all the right dates.

mrsmcjnr How was your appointment today?
and WHERE was that CD? :D

laura Any tips on what to do when you're awake at night?

blue I'm getting pins and needles in my hands at night and as for the labour bag well I still need a "light" dressing gown (saw some in mothercare for £14)

insy Sorry you're having hard time, I hope your bug goes away soon. I think it's inevitable to have arguments at this stage. Just the lack of sleep and the worries of having a newborn definitely make people do/say things that they probably wouldn't in normal circumstances.

DH and I hardly ever argue but hormones have definitely made me moody and short-tempered and him more tired and less patient.
We make sure we make up quickly though, nothing worse than dwelling on stuff.

Finally managed to do another big chunk of work today (big weight off my shoulders) and meeting again with the book keeper shortly to discuss "credit control" (ie: getting him to do it!).

daisy5 · 28/04/2009 14:49

Agonising headache back. This is like torture. I've nothing intelligent, funny or thought provoking to say so shall just quietly update the list to take my mind off my headache!

Yes, I even managed to mess up that last post. OB has changed my due date by only 1 day.

I didn't get even an hours sleep last night. My "Friends" are still here and driving me crazy at night. I have felt jetlagged all day and have really struggled to keep going. Thank goodness for friends that collect your kids from pre-school, give you lunch and entertain you all for the afternoon.

I cannot contribute anything else right now. I am a complete and utter jelly head and still have dinner to make.

Is anyone else experiencing muscular/ligament cramps in the stomach that leave you unable to move?!

LittleSarah · 28/04/2009 18:35

Okay, mainly me message coming up...

Midwife appointment today.

A. Baby is breech. Now I still have 6 weeks so it seems likely they will move but does anyone know more about this? Ie, is it actually really unlikely?? Midwife seemed positive so I shall be too. She gave me a sheet about ways to try and encourage movement which I shall begin trying later! (Was head down four weeks ago by the way).

B. Sugar in my urine again. Have had this before and they've tested blood and nothing but this time was quite a lot. Ie in NHS system last time it was sugar+ this time it was sugar+++. Hadn't eaten anything very sugary so no idea why. Anyway, they took more blood again and said if came back with sugar will go for GTT. I kind of don't think it will, I think perhaps my kidneys are just a bit crap, or is that ridiculous? I mean I've had trace protein and trace sugar and glucose already and blood tests for those all fine. My only problem with this one is the +++ factor. Do you guys think this is just a blip or something more? And what happens in GTT test and does that mean gestational diabetes???

Anyway, sorry to go on! Was hoping for a smoother appointment!

Naat - Thanks so much for those tracks, definitely need some chill out time now!

Welcome to effie! Insy - Sorry about your difficulties, but it's no wonder people's nerves are a bit ragged, two young kids, a baby on the way, work and sickness, you are bound to argue!! Chin up. I have finally sent that book btw, I bet you'd given up me and just bought it too, but if not it should arrive in the next couple of days!

Daisy - Get well soon honey, I feel terrible for you.

Btw, on subject of baby sizes my grandpa told me today his brother was 13Ibs!! AHHHHH.

ermintrude13 · 28/04/2009 19:20

Littlesarah my baby was transverse yesterday at nearly 33 wks and the mw was v relaxed. If your LO was head down and is now breech there's no reason it won't turn back. I think around 37 wks if it isn't head down you get scanned and then offered an external version (ouch!) but I've heard of breech babes turning shortly before delivery. Check out the spinning babies website - google it - for lots of tips about your position which can help. I spent a couple of sessions kneeling at the top of our stairs with my hands 3 stairs down - like a dive - and can now feel that babe is vertical rather than horizontal, though not sure which way up . So things you do can help, and I'm going to keep doing these exercises every day.

Ignore the 13lb thing. I know it's not impossible, but these things do tend to get exaggerated within families over the decades .

Choccie sorry to hear the johnny giles are still giving you trouble. Best treatment I ever had from doc was a little aerosol (say it carefully) which shot foam stuff upyerbum and dried them out really quickly. Dunno if they still do that but suppository things are effective for piles.

insy hope you make up with DH. Sounds like he was maybe shifting some of his guilt at sending DC to nursery onto you..? Hope your tum is better too.

doris BH, how exciting! Not had any yet, but wouldn't expect them at 33 wks. Would love to think I might be early. Maybe I should do raspberry leaf tea like lauraloo. I'm just slightly worried that my uterus worked extremely effectively last two times and I don't want it shooting this one out any quicker .

Hello to everyone else x

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 19:27

littlesarah sugar in your urine does not mean you've eaten a lot of sugar. It means your might be insulin resistant, aka GD. See what the blood work says.

GD is not the end of the world! Especially so close to the end of the pregnancy.

MrsMcJnr · 28/04/2009 20:14

Hey ladies well today?s appointment went quite well. They did a 20 min trace with the monitor and she seemed fine the scan did suggest that she is measuring about 3 weeks ahead of dates but the dr didn?t seem to be unduly worried. When I asked about the fluid he said that there was above average but not too much. I have another appointment scheduled for 3 weeks time so I have had words with the Buba and told her that she will either have to slow down on the growth front or arrive early ? now trying to think of all the things I must do immediately in case she does arrive early! We had our last Ante Natal class tonight ? shame, I shall miss the weekly amusement!

Now, how are you all??

MrsMcJnr · 28/04/2009 20:45

Naat ? that?s great that the hypnobirthing is helping you to feel that way I listened to the CD to go to sleep last night and it all came flooding back from last time..! Sorry to hear that about the prospective tenants fingers crossed that your baby doesn?t come too early if she decides to come before her DD ? wishing you at least 12 days of settling in time first!

Littlesarah ? it seems that my baby has put on about 800g in the last 3 weeks yet I have lost 1.5kgs ? I had better be slimmer at the end of all this!! Sorry to hear about your issues today, for what it?s worth, I think being your 2nd baby it still has plenty of scope for moving, I prescribe 20 mins of all fours each day my girl on the sugar, I am sure Tee will correct me if I am wrong but it is common late in pregnancy for us to have excess glucose that we have problems getting rid of and that could be the reason for your readings but even if you do have to go for the GTT and are found to have an issue, it may simply be a case of tweaking your diet ? hoping it comes to nothing and it?s just a stage for you.

Hope I didn?t offend anyone by my comment on ?regulars? it?s just that the initial list was so massive and only about 15 of us post regularly and I am more likely to remember fewer dates

Welcome and congrats Effielou so you have a DD of nearly 8 and a DS of 4ish? Tell us more about yourself do you know what you are having this time round? Very sore right hip here but not sure if it?s SPD.

Bunnymother ? book sounds funny

Daisy ? poor you, I really do hope you feel better soon. Lack of sleep is a terrible thing, careful how you go now. Based on my own methods, I reckon my due date is 7 June. Thanks for doing the list of dates

June ? sorry to hear you are getting anxious about work and the baby and the interaction between the two, I so hope it works out for you hon and you feel you get the balance right. When I am awake at night I concentrate on my breathing and soon drop off again. The CD was in my bedside drawer all the time

Tee ? you sound very sorted glad to hear you feel better today.

Poor you Insy, I was ill over the weekend and it wasn?t nice (lift still smells despite numerous mop outs ), take it easy hon. I?ve packaged your book to send back to you so look out for it next week. Thanks so much for lending it to me

Blueberry ? where are you again? I think the Strep B test, if you can face it without getting too upset might be worth it for peace of mind, good plan re the emails, private Drs cost so much and mine still hasn?t emailed me his thoughts on my birth plan

Lauraloo ? my hypnobirthing CD is basically a self hypnosis technique taught to me by a lovely midwife at St John?s in Livy. The CD is actually her talking and it?s lovely to hear her soft Scottish tone again

Choccie ? poor, poor you, hope tonight is better.

Hey there Ermintrude

Walked through the maternity ward today to get to Ob appointment and all of the women I saw had the blue paper gowns on and nothing else, please tell me I don?t have to do that

LittleSarah · 28/04/2009 21:01

Hmmmm, just been reading up on GD and says it sometimes means you can have abnormally large baby... and did I not say this morning I seemed to have gained a lot recently??! I know it is probably fine, I can still have home birth can't I (as long as not still breech) and would just need to control diet or take insulin I presume?

LittleSarah · 28/04/2009 21:09

MrsMcJnr - Glad to hear today's appointment was more reassuring! Sounds like your girl is a good size anyway. Can't wait to listen to hypnobirth track now I have it, although probably going to phone my ma for some more pregnancy reassurance first!

Tee2072 · 28/04/2009 21:10

No way of knowing, littlesarah. Wait for your test results!!

lauraloo09 · 28/04/2009 21:52

evening all hope you all had a good day

just a wee quickie from me tonight. spent this afternoon with 2yr old niece and it was lovely, downside is she wants carried all the time so now feeling the pain of lifting her been having what i think is BH but were stronger tonight than i've ever had actually thought they were real contractions.

june when i'm awake at night i go downstairs (so not to disturb DH) and so a spot of polishing or washing dishes i forgot to do the night before...pretty sad i know sometimes i play guitar hero on my WII which is fun but noisy at 3am!

mrsmcjnr glad appointment went well today and hopefully you wont have to wear the blue gowns. Does the hypnobirthing cd help any?

littlesarah sorry to hear they found sugar in your urine again fingers crossed the blood test comes back ok and fingers crossed baby will turn for you x

A big HI to everyone else (((waves)))
