june i like your suggestion for thread title lol

"Due June 09: Sleep-deprived and achey all over, the final countdown"

Daisy thanks for your kind words i hope i do bring her happiness as there are so many people making demands on her but i dont, maybe thats why she 'rewards' me with scans and christening gowns even tho i dont need a reward for looking after her, me and mum have a close bond, i just hope i have the same kind of bond with my daughter

Hi all

Absolutely exhausted and heading out in a bit for my first Parentcraft class.

Saw OB and endo today. Blood sugar is fine. Baby is measuring at the top of the charts, but no one is concerned yet!

I like the new thread title!

Talk to y'all later!!

Hey

Well had my pitch this morning after finally getting feedback and it was fine. Tis only a small part of mark so not a huge deal.

Nothing from midwife today. I phoned and left a message at lunch time, beginning to get a little irritated. (Baby definitely still breech too).

GOOD news - Will be printing and binding dissertation tomorrow!! Can't wait! Have been working on final changes this afternoon, got an email from my mum's man (unofficial supervisor) saying that he will have several pages of suggested changes with me by 7.30... urgh... but still, nearly nearly there.... wooooooo!

Laura - Sorry about your dad, sounds like a hard situation. Good news about Christening gown though!

Daisy - Glad to hear you're finally head ache free... I never get braxton hicks, don't know why!

Welsh - What a crazy week you've had! Good god, glad to hear they've managed to slow everything down.

Insy - I'm sure smaller movements are usual now, mine definitely are less strong. On Saturday went to see Bob Dylan however and wee one was moving and dancing the whole time!

Nat - Still working hard I see! Good woman.

Hi to Bigcar, June, MrsMcJnr, choccie and Ineed!

laura, that's so pretty Sounds like you have a great relationship with your mum!

june, I have the laces done up loosely on my shoes so I can just slip them on and off. Oddly enough I find it harder to take my socks off than to put them on

insy, did you get hold of your midwife? I'm sure you've probably just got a well chilled out little dude in there but I'd still make sure

sorry, brains not functioning at all these days so no witty thread titles coming from this direction Plenty of good ideas elsewhere though

littlesarah, what is your midwife like how frustrating! Well done on the dissertation front, must be such a relief to be almost there

tee, glad your appointment went well, enjoy your class!

YAY for you LittleSarah!!! Almost there!!!!
Glad that everything went OK with the pitch!

Tee, enjoy the class!!!

Bigcar, like you, brain not working for thread ideas On the shoe front, I'm wearing lots of ballerinas (don't know if that's the proper name ) and if it gets cold, boots that I just have to slip in hahaha, I can't work any laces, or belts or anything DH has been doing my legs for weeks now hahaha as I cannot reach them with the razor

Laura, the gown looks lovely!!

Right, back to work I'm almost there now, graphics are done, I'm just proofreading it one more time!!!

littleS, do you have the maun number for your community midwives / MLU?
I tried for days on end to get through to my midwife for my first appointment before xmas and it turned out she'd quit and no one had let me know!

Report
chocciedooby · 05/05/2009 19:06

Oh I love those ballerina pumps that you are wearing Naat. I can't wear them due to osteoarthritis in big toes I have to wear runners, boots or flip flops. Bought some Fitflops the other day when the weather was warm and I love them!

Glad you are nearly done Littlesarah

Laura the christening gown is lovely. My ds's got christened in the "family" gown from my MIL. It's a beautiful white but very frilly dress which is not great for boys .

The meds worked for my horrid "nighttime" pals thank goodness and my other very painful friends have cleared up very well so I am beginning to feel pretty normal now. Just dealing with the usual pregnancy stuff; sore back, cramps etc. I can cope with that ok after last week.

I een had the energy today to cook a full roast chicken dinner. I have been so drained lately that I feel quite proud of myself for these small achievements. How sad am I??!

Insy try not to worry too much about the movements but if its on your mind a lot then your MW will put your mind at rest. Remember that baby will be running out of room very soon and therefore the movements b ecome limited. I think the only reason I can feel quite a lot of movements is because I have high fluid levels.

Hi to everyone else. I can't believe how close we are all getting now.

thanks too choccie my bump is v low I kind of feel they should have loads of room in there but maybe not, guess I've forgotten I'm about 34 wks - glad to hear you're on the mend too!

Hey ladies my due date is less than a month away! 36 weeks on Thurs. Have to hand in those swabs tomorrow ? fun!

Bigcar ? we wondered about the terrible 2s coming early, it certainly seems as if it is that kind of behaviour from DS how do you make your kids listen to you when you say ?no???

Insy ? I sent your book today sorry, the queue in the post office has been massive recently! Gosh, you had the potty to contend with too when BFing DS2 I?m thinking that my DS can wait a little while for that, is that wrong? I wouldn?t call what I am feeling kicks anymore, more squirms which I can also see from the outside, I think she is seriously running out of room now.

Tee ? hope you get a better night?s sleep tonight

Ineedmore ? those pains sound VERY interesting! Will you be our first to pop I wonder? Sending you lots of good labour vibes

Ermintrude ? I hear you on the positive rather than negative comments and distraction with DS and I do try that with food throwing/throwing clothes on the floor from the washing line/throwing things in the bin etc but most of the things he wants to do are downright dangerous and I need to be able to make him stop in a hurry especially as I am not as fast as I used to be. He has nearly climbed into my folks pool umpteenth times sadly he has currently lost interest in Cbeebies.

Welshsurprise ? wow! A shock for you! I hope your baby can wait now for your elective C-section. When?s that?

Hey there Naat No, not heard from Dr but decided to email to chase him as have found out that I have to lodge my birth plan with the Supervisor of Midwives at the hospital and I would like any comments he has before I do that. I also feel that we have paid him enough money over the months for him to do what he said he would

Interesting feelings with you too Choccie how are you feeling generally now??

June ? hope you are taking it easy, stress is not good for you!!

Lauraloo ?I?m really sorry about your Mum and your Dad?s relationship the dress is lovely and the name must be fate that?s what I call thinking ahead! Luckily I am sorted on that score DD will be the 6th baby to wear our family gown which my Mum had made as a miniature out of her wedding dress for my Christening 35 years ago. ?The Final Countdown? is a great idea hope the pains don?t worry you too much.

Daisy ? LOL at your suggestion for the thread, EC? So glad to hear the headache has gone

Littlesarah ? what a relief it will be for you tomorrow when the dissertation is done! sorry that you have not heard from your MW

evening all - have just spent ages reading and catching up and as always can't remember a bit of it

that's not true but it's a strange amalgamation of bits of everything - early labour/threadworms/christening gown/squirms not kicks/dissertations/useless MW/stupidbitch credit controller/terrible 2s/crampy pains/hospital bags. That's what it's like being inside my head - totally confsed as to who is experiencing what

I'm personally just knackered, sore down below, constant braxton hicks, very ehavy feeling in my pelvis and I am wracking my (shredded) brains to try and remember if I felt like this at 34 +4 last time. I'm sure it only got like this in the last few weeks. Perhaps I should really get organised to have a baby ie decide on the hb and/or pack a bag

hope yr all doing well

Midwife phoned!

Bloods borderline so she wants to test again, she's free tomorrow and me on Thursday so guess when bloods will be taken? That's right; tomorrow. So after mad running about to get dissertation organised need to be at home by 3pm for bloods, however she might be late because of home visits which no doubt will end in me missing yoga at 4.30! (All probably for nothing but hey ho!)

morning all!

littlesarah hope dissertation and bloods go ok today

naat how did you sleep? I'm sleeping like a log then waking up stiff with painful hips, I guess having not moved enough, I then have to hobble to the bathroom for a pee and back to bed to work out another comfortable position - I think someone suggested sleeping on a duvet, might try that

mrsmcj ds1 decided he didn't want to wear nappies when he was 20months (ds1 was 6wks old ) I had a v v stressful day of trying to get him into nappies before I lost it and put potty in middle of lounge and actually said 'ok if you can use that you don't have to wear them' and blow me he sat on it and did at poo so then I rang my mum in a bit of a tis cause all the books I'd read lead me to believe he'd be at least 2 before he was 'ready' but she persuaded me to try it, had our fair share (!) of accidents but interestly only wee accidents and never poo ones and I guess since I was washing nappies anyway extra clothes didn't matter. I just felt embarassed taking him out in pants for a long time as I though people would think I was some uber competitive pushy mum trying to get her lo trained too early... don't worry about it with ds, I think its easier to do it when you're ready too plus ds1 went backwards when I went back to work at christmas so I'd plan in a time when you don't have huge changes

silk did you make anymore decisions about hb or are you still undecided?

Report
Ineedmorechocolatenow · 06/05/2009 08:00

mrsmcjnr - DS is 2.6 and we haven't even started potty training with him yet. He'd happily sit all day in his own poo and wee (this never happens, of course!) and he denies having done anything in his pants even when the smell tells us otherwise ! He's really not ready at all yet, has sat on the loo before a bath and done a wee, but that's it. I think we're going to wait until the summer hols (and this LO is a bit more settled) and then give it a go. One of my SIL rushed hers to potty train before they were ready and there were so many poo accidents. She persevered and had a year of washing poo-ey clothes. My other SIL waited until hers were nearly three and did it in a week, including through the night, and NO accidents!! I think there is definitely an argument for letting them take their time.

insy - Sounds like your DS was VERY ready to come out of nappies!!

All good here. The cramps have settled now, tho' baby feels very low in my pelvis. I've got the physio later.

I can't believe that I'll be 37 weeks next Friday (I'm a day behind you mrsmcjnr)....

Hello to the rest of you xx

Morning Juners!

Insy Only one trip to wee last night followed by 30min of no sleep but I guess that's not too bad (look at us, looking at the positive side ). The pg pillow does help but turning from one side to the other is painful on my hips! My pelvis makes a "pop" sound every time I do as well, although it doesn't hurt as badly now

MrsMc, yes, an email sounds fair. You've paid him lots of money up to now, having a look at a BP is nothing! Wow, you're close, lady, just like Insy (because she's been early before) I can't wait for one of us to pop! How are you doing with your HB CD?

Ineed Enjoy your physio appt!!!

I have to see my MW today at 11 so early start for me to do some work before that.

Hi to all Juners!!! Have a lovely day!!!

hey littleS I hope you get everything done today, this mw could have told you she needed to make another appointment for you instead of rushing you. At least you'll know on Thursday now. Fingers crossed for you.

insy Glad lo is moving about :D
I sleep with a soft pillow and a v shape pillow under my head, a pillow between my knees, my feet slightly elevated on another pillow and I have a little wedge pillow to support my belly as well. I still need to turn every couple of hours or so because my weight always ends up being too much on the supporting hip after a while but I do get some nice rest at least.
No more cramps at the moment either. (I'm keeping my feet elevated as much as I can during the day and in the evening because of my ankles swelling, I think that helps.)

Tee How was the class? I really enjoyed ours (NCT and NHS) and I'm a bit sad they're over now.

mrsmc my due date is in a month tomorrow, eeeeek :D
That means I have just 4 weeks (if the baby stays put!) to get everything done for work. It's getting there and I hope the latest set back was the last one.
Things like yesterday do get me down, it took me all day to get over it.
I wish I could focus solely on babystuff, but I do realise it's the same for everybody, it's work this time but next pregnancy I'll be stressed about having a toddler to run around after and potty train as well instead ;)

welsh How are you keeping?

Laura (lovely outfit btw :D, I saw some quite reasonable ones in John Lewise a while back which were lovely too)

For those who are christening their baby (or done so wth previous babies), when are you doing it? We're thinking within the first 6 months for sure. Have you asked the godparents yet?

Gotta go for now, take care juners!

june I fall asleep with a wedge pillow under bump and a pillow between my knees, I'm v comfy when I fall asleep but I wake a couple of hours later in same position with backache and achey hips, I think I need to move more often but I tend to crash out, going to see if more padding under my hips helps

we're getting lo christened, prob in september, ds1 was christened when he was 4 months and ds2 6 months - 4 month one was easy to manage as we weren't weaning by then! can't decide about godparents as feel like we've run out of people! if we have a girl I'll ask my two best friends (they were my bridesmaids and would be great as we are all so different) but if we have a boy I want to ask a bloke and no one springs to mind... its so hard, one of my other best friends is ds1's godparent and she now lives in south afria (I asked her before ds1 was born) and his godfather has very little contact at the moment so not sure we made the right choices! ds2's godparents are fab tho, they have a ds same age too
I don't want to ask family as they are already significant iykwim but its hard to find friends who are pratising christians, do you have any ideas who you'd like to ask?

My mum would love to pass on the lacy gown all 6 of her babies wore for their (RC) christenings , but we've all gone heathen so none of her 8 grandchildren have used it. I wouldn't be surprised if she'd snuck each newborn off for an impromptu baptism in the kitchen sink when the dazed new mothers weren't looking . I have non-religious friends who choose 'Oddmothers' for their babies but it's just another thing to organise so I'm counting on the fact my DC have lots of aunties to make up for the lack...
