Hey bunny - weather lovely in Ecosse for once, fabulous!

Can't believe it is only Sunday lunchtime, have been so busy. Dh's cousin came on Friday morning, I was making dd's cake, took about 5 hours! First off made two round sponges and a third cake in perspex bowl to make a round top for the dress... ([http://www.birthdaydirect.com/images/barbie-decoset-dress-cake.png example princess cake not mine!]), then realised needed a third round sponge! Then frosting... then royal icing, then decorating... ahhhh. Will try and get a pic up for you to see. It has now been totally demolished after dd's party yesterday, which was great.

We're about to set off to my mum's for easter lunch, all in face paint (birthday present), me as witch, dd as bunny, dh as army soldier, so we look MAD.

Hope you all have lovely Sundays!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 12/04/2009 16:46

LittleSarah - that all sounds like such good fun!

Naat - my tummy is doing huge movements too. It'll do huge seismic shifts to one side and then the other. Can be quite uncomfortable.

Well I've calmed down about my sister now. I sent her this message:

'Just thought I'd let you know that X is the name we'll call this little one, if the scan was wrong, or you pop first. Chances are that the scan wasn't wrong, but it's the only girl's name we've had our hearts set on since we were pregnant with X.'

I haven't heard from her since. I'm sure mum and dad will bring it up tomorrow and I'll tell them how pissed off upset I was / am, but that I don't want to get into it really.

I don't think she's done it with any malice. She just has no clue about other people's feelings when it comes to her behaviour. She'd have thought 'Oh, Ineedchocolatenow obviously isn't calling her DC X now, so I'll use it' without thinking that there's a 5% chance it's not a DS, or that I might have been a little sentimental about the name and wanted to use it for a future DD (if we're lucky enough to have one), or that I might want to know about it via her, as opposed to her bloody Facebook status.

We've spent the morning gardening and now DH is pressure cleaning the patio and the patio furniture and looks to be having far too much fun. Boys and their toys !

Going to have roast beef later. I've eaten far too much chocolate today

Happy Easter ladies

just popping in for an attempt to keep up...
Ineed - your baby and your name- i know this is easier said than done, but i would just ignore it and call your baby! i have a difficult sister as well.nightmare i can tell you. my mother also likes to fan the flames, but i have dealt with that for the past few years by interupting her with " please stop talking like this its winding me up as you know, lets change the subject to xxxx" then if she tries to continue i just say "no, i wonlt be upset and i shall go/ please leave" its easier on the phone, i just cut in with "ooops, have to go, its the doorbell, bye!"

i'm afraid i also say prior to visits, any mention of xxx and you can go or don't bother coming."

a wise lady once told me to help avoid getting wound up i can't change others reactions but i can change mine.

what a long post but i do empathise and this is my way of dealing with it, esp whilst off the booze
June2009 · 12/04/2009 19:39

hiya, quick hello before we set off to the cinema, haven't been in months and probably won't be going for ages after that!
I woke up really motivated to prepare my hospital bag but didn't manage to actually even do as much as drag the bags out from under the bed. Still, that's a a start I suppose .

Feeling very tired like I was during the first trimester, I spent most of the weekend so far in bed trying to get rid of this cold, fingers crossed it is working.
We still managed a lovely evening yesterday, we met up with a couple of cousins from France who cooked for us as another cousins new place not too far from ours (coming from a big family, cousins everywhere :D)

Naat I'm from France and studied English, Spanish and German, (I did start and study a few more as I was fascinated with linguistics at uni but did not carry on with learning them). I've kind of started learning greek so that we can both encourage our children to speak both our maternal tongues as well as english (DH is greek).
Thanks for your offer, same goes to Loouise, I'll keep you in mind when the tmie comes:D
erm Yes, we really want to raise the kids multilingually. Dh has been fluent in Greek since he could talk and with both close families still in our respective countries it really would be a shame if our children could not communicate with them.

Ineed Sorry to hear your relationship with your sis is strained, I think it's good you set the record straight with her. As blue said, you can't change people, the best you can do is take control of the conversation and your feelings. Although I appreciate it's not always easy with family I try and apply the rule of "Avoid & Ignore people who give you shit for no good reason" at all times, it cuts out a lot of the stress, especially when you're pg.
Your sis sounds like my sil, not really malicious but the most inconsiderate person on earth! It makes for a complicated relationship between us for me when she seems to be oblivious to it all.

I hope your meeting with your parents goes well tomorrow despite the tension, if you explain to them you really can't help the way you feel that should set them right really.

littlesarah I hope you can post a pic of your cake :D
Aww, see what you've done, now I want cake :D

bunny I've put on 15kgs last time I checked (probably 2 weeks ago) and I'm a short ass.

32 weeks today, woohoo :D

I'd better go, it's probably going to take me twice as long as usual to get myself to the cinema...
Isn't it lovely we don't have to go to work tomorrow!

LittleSarah · 12/04/2009 20:00

Okay, I should now have a profile and in pictures should be princess cake made for dd and now no more! Boo hoo...

Had lovely easter lunch at my mum's, lots of laughter at painted faces, did my sister as Dracula.

June - I am pretty tired these days too, and motivation is low sometimes. We did manage to set up cot and move bedroom furniture to fit it in yesterday.

Ineed - Lots of big movement here too, which is great, although a wee bit uncomfortable sometimes.

Worst in my back, anywhere that was previously comfy, ie a sofa or chair seems to be exactly the opposite now, oh the joys of being up the duff.

Right, time for a bath, need to let saddo dh on to play World of Warcraft... (can you tell he is reading as I type? )

lauraloo09 · 12/04/2009 20:46

evening all hopw everyone has had a lovely easter

weather in Scotland all weekend has been fab, which is quite strange not used to sunshine

Well baby is kicking me like mad and the movements you can see of my belly are fascinating! not sure if baby is head down, but all movement i have been feeling is around my rib area i am enjoying the movements for now.

I cannot wait until 4pm on Tuesday when I'll knock off until 8th march 2010 I have 4 hours flexi time so even hoping that i get to have a half day

Just want to say a big hello to everyone been pretty busy this weekend and not posted as much as i would have liked

Tee2072 · 12/04/2009 21:08

Nice quiet Easter here. Did some baby room arranging. Still lots more to do!!

Had some lovely weather also.

Hope everyone had a great day with some lovely baby kicks!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 12/04/2009 22:11

OMG LittleSarah - that is an amazing cake! It doesn't even look like a cake, it's so real! Seems a shame to eat it, but I bet it tasted fab...

I meant to say littlesarah that that is a beautiful cake and your DD is a very lucky little girl!

Tee2072 · 13/04/2009 11:55

Hello juners!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Bank holiday!

I've just gone and purchased some more shirts. I can't believe how big I am getting!

Naat · 13/04/2009 12:46

Hello Juners!!!

Hope you all had a great Easter yesterday!

LittleS, OH MY GOD!!!! That cake was absolutely amazing!!!! You're a genious, lady!

June, that sounds like a great language combination We're also planning on teaching them both our native languages as well as English... Hope you enjoyed your movie. It's been ages since we last went... we're more the DVD type

Laura, yay!!! Freedom is close for you, lady!!!

Ineed, I hope your lunch with your parents goes well. It's not easy, but as Blue and many of the ladies said, if you had that name in your heart from the beginning, you just go ahead and use it, you have every right. Anyway, glad you had fun in the garden with the whole family

Lazy day at the Argie's. I managed to sleep through the night, yay!, and will just take it easy today. My back is acting up a bit so I'm not too keen on doing much.

Have a lovely day, ladies! (waves!!!)

Naat · 13/04/2009 12:49

Oh, forgot to say: Cirque du Soleil was absolutely amazing!!!! I don't know if any of you have seen them, oh my, fantastic show! I recommend it 100% .

not sure if many of you juners remember jools who was on our thread but sadly mc'd at 12 weeks well I have been lurking on the emmsy's thread to see how she has been getting on and today she got a BFP lets all hope this one sticks for her x

helpivegottogivebirth · 13/04/2009 18:48

I was feeling exhausted last week - and someone suggested i may be slightly anaemic. Since then have been stuffing myself with spinach and ...er... black pudding.

Has anyone used Spatone as a supplement and does anyone think there may be a problem if you have too much iron?

bigcar · 13/04/2009 19:11

Afternoon all

helpive, too much iron is not good for you, did your 28 week bloods show you need a supplement? Best check with your midwife.

laura, hope your last day goes well Great news about jools!

littlesarah, great cake, seriously impressed looks from over here

naat, sounds like good evening!

tee, I'm also on the mahoosive large side! My glucose levels have been a little high over the weekend, any advice you want to throw in my direction would be gratefully received!

Hope everyone's enjoyed their bank holiday!

blueberrysorbet · 13/04/2009 19:15

help, can't help you there
had dating scan this w/e and lo is 2kg (just under 5lb) i know it can be 10% either way, but we have 7/8 weeks to go... i want another chubby baby so fingers crossed!

mentioned again to doc that i would like try for a normal birth not cs and he just said unlikely given baby size. dh looked askance as first he had heard of my wanting to give birth

had glucose test today, orange flavoured, so boring having to wait around- get results thursday.

Tee2072 · 13/04/2009 19:40

bigcar how high is a little high? Do you use insulin or are you diet controlled, I can't remember!!

help do check with your MW. Too much iron is just as bad as too little. And according to recent research, too little might not actually be a problem!!

Good luck with your GTT results blue! If you do have GD and have any questions, ask away, I've been dealing with the big D for 3 years now!

Great news about Jools Laura. I am so very about your last day! Enjoy it.

Today for me has been pure heartburn, no matter what I eat and how much Gaviscon I take. Might be time to head to the GP for something else to cure it!

lauraloo09 · 13/04/2009 19:54

good luck with your results blue hope everything is ok

tee shame about your heartburn, I've had it bad all weekend but not been as bad today thank goodness I am also beginning to feel huge but refusing to buy anymore maternity clothes considering I only have 9 weeks to go can't believe how quickly the time has been wizzing by

help sorry not sure about iron supplements but as others say taking too much iron isn't good, I'd check with a mw or gp first before taking any

might sound like a silly question but how do you know which way the baby is lying? also got a fright last night, went to loo (beware TMI alert) and when wiped I saw a blob of muscus very thick and white and didn't look like normal discharge I was worried this was my plug, but after googling I know it wasn't the mucus plug...just wondering if anyone else has had that kind of discharge?
Again sorry for TMI!!

silkcushion · 13/04/2009 20:21

Hi Laura

I've been lurking - due on 19th June. This is my 2nd pg and this time I've had loads of thick mucus discharge. Almost stringy and gloopy (sorry disgusting). Didn't really have this last time but is normal apparently.

The real plug is sort of blood stained - mine came away a few days before going into labour last time.

lauraloo09 · 13/04/2009 20:27

thanks silk at first thought it was plug but after googling and it mentioned blood tinged i knew it wasn't, was just really weird (first time mum here ) your due 1 day before me how's your pregnancy been so far?

insywinsyspider · 13/04/2009 20:37

hi everyone, happy easter, hope you all had lovely weekends, ours didn't go as planned, ds2 (16 months) had high temp since friday and we ended up at hospital this morning, didn't get admitted as all wards closed due to infection so been given antibiotics and fingers crossed he starts to get better, feeling much better that had medical opinion was bit of emotional mess this morning with no sleep and floppy baby, he's been asleep all day but had 6oz of milk amazing progress, not looking forward to sleeping on his floor again but am stressing about leaving him, so so tired... I'm sure having my babies this close will pay off in the future but god its hard work at the moment - ds1 (2yr9mo) was on top form too and bouncing around, thank god my brother was over and took him out for the day!

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 13/04/2009 20:41

Hello all (esp. silkcushion). Too bloody knackered to catch up on all the news today .

Mum and Dad came up today. Mum did broach the subject of my sister's name choice. I was quite frank and explained how pissed off I was, and that I didn't want to get into it. Mum was giving non-committal 'mmm' noises and I thought that she understood. Then later on, as we were going to the car she linked arms with me and said to me in an overly jolly way 'well at least you'll have a niece called X' She doesn't get it, and never will. Oh well.

I've now got sinusitis and it's agony. I know the doc won't prescribe me antibiotics as there's every chance that it's viral but I had it for over 4 weeks last time and it's miserable. I hope this bout is short-lived.

We're off to Wisley tomorrow with DS so he can have a run-around the gardens there. We are lucky that it's just on our doorstep.

Hope you are all well x

Ineedmorechocolatenow · 13/04/2009 20:42

X - post insy - hope your DS starts to feel better soon. It's so horrible when they're poorly xx

bigcar · 13/04/2009 20:46

Hi silk!

tee, neither at the moment! I'm on 2 weeks of monitoring and have been told to test either 1 hour after eating or 2 and the reading should be either below 8 or 7 iyswim. I'm allowed 2 readings above that, but have had 3 now, the highest being 9 so will have to ring the hospital in the morning. The problem seems to be breakfast, not what I was expecting! I've been avoiding the chocolate as I thought that would cause problems, all this despite a normal gtt! So I would say any info you could offer would be great Sympathies on the heartburn, rotten isn't it!
