Thanks to Nutty for all the thread suggestions including this one. I hope no one minds but I picked this one in honour of the brilliant race commentary we had from Nuts and Frekkles the other night. Hopefully we will get some more.

Things like that make me wish that I was churchy, Ju. The sense of community always seems lovely

bg, who said romance was dead?

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 13:05

I love Pimp My Snack! LMAO!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 18/03/2009 13:06

at pimp my snack

SpringySunshine · 18/03/2009 13:09

I was going to say about the tv, actually. I don't watch it at all during the day - it's never on unless DH is home. Then we watch things just for the sake of watching them (we follow a few things properly, but could easily watch them online) & he uses it for the Xbox (which is why we needed a posh television, naturally ). I'd probably rather just not have one, to be honest.

Kalikaroo · 18/03/2009 13:10

The Most Haunted team are investigating Woodchester Mansion and are running around screaming because they saw 'something' - it was a bloomin' BAT! Saw it flapping around the roof...hilarious!

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 13:10

Me too re: Churchiness, rather than being a miserable old baggage who doesn't even know most of her neighbours' names. You know how your supposed to get all worried if someone's milk is still on the doorstep at midday, in case they've collapsed or similar....not going to happen with me I'm afraid. You'll have been dead for weeks before I even notice I haven't seen you for a while!

On the other hand - this is a rather nice community here. So the biscuit handouts are virtual - the sentiment is still there!

BabyBolat · 18/03/2009 13:11

we only have one - I refuse to have them in bedrooms and upstairs - so just one in the living room and to be honest apart from Thursday nights it's normally just background noise for us my friend's nephew is 2 and has one in his room for watching before bed (sorry if anyone else has this) but think that is weird!

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 13:11

Same husband again!! Telly is off almost all day until DH gets in, and it goes straight on automatically! Spooky!

I'm too scared to watch Most Haunted.

PuzzleRocks · 18/03/2009 13:11

All our stuff is old or cheap (except bed linen and kitchenware) which makes it all the more bearable when DD trashes it.

What's on Thursday nights?

SpringySunshine · 18/03/2009 13:12

I just spoke to the man from Kwik Fit (he phoned here, I wasn't being mental & weird ) & he was lovely. He didn't even try to do that stupid thing that everyone seems to do where they say 'oh no, I can only discuss with the man', no matter what it is (yes Sky, I'm still pissed at you ) as Boffin also found out

He talked me through what it'd failed on (although I don't really understand) & told me that it's £540ish of repairs, but he'd do it for £480 all in.

He was really nice. If nothing else, I believe the Kwik Fit adverts now about the Kwik Fit Fitters being lovely blokes.

Maybe I should go & see if he wants to take me out somewhere nice to eat

BabyBolat · 18/03/2009 13:13

I find myself watching rubbish just because it is on - although has been off for hours as MN is more entertaining!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 18/03/2009 13:13

apart from the occasional dvd i havent watched tv in about 6 months. its purely xbox fodder. kinda fine he by me though cos dh doesn't really spend money on anything else and its his one pleasure/ extravegance if you like. and it leaves me free to MN

BabyBolat · 18/03/2009 13:14

Thursday nights is Grey's anatomy and ER - my two favourite programmes in the whole world - is also the night - DHs favourite programme comes online so we sit and blissfully ignore each other for 2 hours xxxx

SpringySunshine · 18/03/2009 13:14

I watched Most Haunted once. They stood there in a candlelit stairwell screaming about how there was a cold spot. A COLD SPOT!!! Until someone said 'oh, the window's open...'.

I laughed until I cried

Kalikaroo · 18/03/2009 13:15

One of them will say "did you hear that?" and then they all get freaked out and run around swearing!! In fact you can't hear whatever the noise actually is because they're all screaming and the swearing is beeped out!! Fab! It's just them reacting to suggestion - there's very rarely anything actually there.

AuldAlliance · 18/03/2009 13:17

I don't have a TV either.
Had been toying with the idea of getting one, so I can work on the laptop while DS watches dvds, instead of having to share, but then realised they are all poncy and sophisticated now and therefore dead pricy.

First batch of cakes in oven...
Good luck with your car woes, Springy.
Oh and Kali, where in Scotland are you from? There's a fair Scottish contingent on this thread, one way and another.

SpringySunshine · 18/03/2009 13:17

Ju, I'm the same with neighbours - I vaguely know the bloke upstairs & his name, but I don't think I'd notice for weeks if he disappeared. I'd probably twig eventually that I'd not heard him & his mates on Wii Fit up there, but it'd take a while.

I don't even know what the other man upstairs looks like.

The man opposite is called Shadowman & I'm terrified of him. We think he kills & eats people. Once, DH had to collect a parcel that'd been left with him & he just peered around the edge of the door, said nothing, fetched the parcel & shoved it through the tiny gap so he didn't have to open the door any wider. All in silence. Over the last few months we've built up so many Shadowman stories that I really am genuinely scared

Kalikaroo · 18/03/2009 13:18

And when that guy Derek, the clairvoyant, gets possessed by some spirit - I nearly peed myself laughing! He's such a faker!

Entertaining though...!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 18/03/2009 13:18

Most Haunted - didnt one of the blokes get really scratched up one time though and they had to stop filming??

SpringySunshine · 18/03/2009 13:20

BB, what is your DH's favourite programme? My DH watches such rubbish. He's addicted to Smallville, for a start

& Derek Accorah is just such a bad actor. If you're going to pretend to be possessed by a spirit, at least be good at pretending!

Kalikaroo · 18/03/2009 13:21

AuldAlliance - I'm from the place that's in the middle of the north sea as far north as you can get and still be in Scotland! Don't want to give th name of the exact place since people from RL will immediately know who I am!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 18/03/2009 13:22

there was a programme once on excorsism, where an american preist went and excorsised people who had been posessed.

now that was majorly scary and so not fake compared to most haunted.

Kalikaroo · 18/03/2009 13:24

I hate anything that involves demonic possession etc - scares the crap out of me! I can't watch the Exorcist or anything like that.

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 13:25

Maybe Most Haunted should come and check out Shadowman?
