Thanks to Nutty for all the thread suggestions including this one. I hope no one minds but I picked this one in honour of the brilliant race commentary we had from Nuts and Frekkles the other night. Hopefully we will get some more.

Bronze hope your DS is OK. How old is he?

Schulte - ballet flats are a con. They are never as comfy as they look. Same with plimsolls. Every summer I look forward to wearing canvas plimsolls and then remember how uncomfortable they really are.

I'm afraid for comfort I always end up resorting to geeky loafers. Am gettings so depressed with wearing them all the time, I can't wait to stop being pregnant and be able to put something else on.

PuzzleRocks · 18/03/2009 08:45

Fingers crossed for you Bronze.

Oooh good luck bronze and conker with the sugar levels!! Fingers crossed!

LuLu I might join you on pocoyo - I always watch the news when I wake up between 7&9 and they must have said the same 4 depressing stories at least 30 times -

BabyBolat · 18/03/2009 08:49

This pregnancy has been consumed by my UGGS (they are called uggs because they are UGLY!!! but as far as I am concerned they go with everything when pregnant) and they are the only thing that are comfy (with the exception of flip flops) with my giant elephant feet.

Schulte · 18/03/2009 08:51

The worst thing is Radio 4 in the morning. Always the same old Afghanistan / Iraq story, narrated in the same depressing monotonous tone. I don't know why DH insists on listening to it every day.

Does anyone else feel breathless quite a lot, to the point of being a bit dizzy? I don't remember this from last time and it's starting to worry me.

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 08:51

BB - My bridesmaid's shoes were irregular choice - 4 inch heels with ribbon to co-ordinate with her dress twisted up her legs! In fact, they were then her wedding shoes, with different coloured ribbon (and I wore my shoes to bridesmaid in!). They are the most expensive shoes I have ever bought or am ever likely to. Though I reeeeeeeealllyyyy really wanted some Gina ones - but that was just a step too far. I don't wear them much Schulte, because they are higher than I anticipated, and the slingback is a bit floppy and has to be tit-taped to my heel! But they are multi-coloured and go with everything!

I am equally happy in walking boots/ Cats/ Docs though. I had a pair of Chelsea boot style DMs for work shoes for ages, as they were very hard-wearing for waking to and from the station each day - everyone at work thinks I'm a freak!

Bronze - try hitting the Actimel, or similar, at large doses! It might help.

PS , What is BLW???

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 08:53

Schulte, I often feel quite breathless, and occasionally have to have a sit down e.g. after climbing the stairs. When did you last have your Hb checked, and was it okay?

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 08:55

kinky handbag

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 08:57

Lulu - I had a pair of sparkly purple shoes decorating my shelves for ages! Bought them online, but the heel was so high, they were effectively two sizes too big. They were soooooo pretty though, I kept them in the living room, looking gorgeous. They appear to have been tidied away though....hmmmmmmm.

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 09:00

Where has everyone gone? Are you all watching this thing I've never heard of?

Going to go and get porridge.

Schulte · 18/03/2009 09:04

Ju, I saw the MW on Thursday so not that long ago and everything was fine.

LuLuBai · 18/03/2009 09:06

fabulous bag Ju

hadn't really gone - was making DD a second breakfast

This is what I was watching - it's a kid thing. You weren't really missing out.

BabyBolat · 18/03/2009 09:06

BLW?? I don't know

Sorry was on the phone to my boss -who just annoyed me! grrr

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 09:07

Schulte - perhaps the LO is just sitting really high at the moment, squooshing up your diaphragm and lungs? Take it as a indication to do nothing at all all day! And maybe drop MW line.

Claireykitten · 18/03/2009 09:09

First of all congratualtions BabyPringle and fantastic choice of name. Not that I am biased in anyway of course!

Puzzle - Love the boots but but DH is going to hate you as I made the mistake of looking through the website and now wish to spend hundreds on new boots!

As usual I have been shocked appalled and all other necessary emotions in all the correct places but cant remember everything to post replies.

Had another MW appointment yesterday and I now have low BP, protein in my wee my veins were really poo so she couldnt take any blood and she isnt sure which way round baby is so I have to go for a scan tomorrow to see if she is breech.

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 09:09

Oooh, I quite like Pocoyo! Is that Stephen Fry?

There's a thread about 'what you've learned from MN', and apart from mooncups , many people have learned about BLW. I feel I am missing out on something (though not on mooncups).

LuLuBai · 18/03/2009 09:10

Schulte I believe breathlessness in later pregnancy is quite common. The baby is taking up so much space that it presses on your lungs.

There are other reasons too - anaemia can lead to breathlessness (something to do with the reduction in the blood cells efficiency)

Have you checked your last blood test results? Kingston lost my blood sample. Midwife was rather blase about it "probably no need to worry as your last one was fine" but I asked for another one to be taken and sure enough I was anaemic (and it could have been diagnosed much earlier!)

Claireykitten · 18/03/2009 09:10

BLW is Baby Led Weaning unless it was in a completely different context in which case I have no idea!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 18/03/2009 09:11

morning!

just popped in to see if anyone else has...popped!

(BLW = baby led weaning. it's when you don't shovel purees into the babies mouth, you give them proper food right from the get go. Aitch is really into it, she has a blog)

off to my scan now!!! i'll update later!!

have a great day everyone!!

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 09:12

Oh, weaning .

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 09:12

I wear fit flops mostly.

Schulte, I think German feet are more sensitive than English feet which makes it hard to find comfy shoes, IMO.

Hey everyone, we are going to go mad and have proper printed birth announcements this time! Partly because it is the last time we will do this, and partly because we were too hassled to send out Christmas cards last year, so hardly anyone knows of the impending arrival, and a mailshot would seem in order.

I am feeling very decadent. I am also considering going to the posh hairdressers in Cambridge later on instead of the cheaper village one, subject to Nutty's advice on the matter, so I actually look good instead of just OK with a wierd stripe ear to ear and a slight level of frizz.

Sod the overdraft, I say. I laugh in the face of the credit crunch.

LuLuBai · 18/03/2009 09:14

Ju - it is Stephen Fry. Is there anything the man has not done?

Schulte · 18/03/2009 09:15

Oh yes actually, I am anaemic too and have been taking iron tablets for the last couple of weeks. So that could be it? Will have another blood test next week. They just LOVE taking my blood

Hope the scan goes well Purple!

Juwesm · 18/03/2009 09:16

I rather love him. Though he does have some slightly dodgy opinions on some things. He narrated the Harry Potter audiobooks. He does all the voices!
