and i gave birth before her so she'll prob know less than me so far on her healing etc... I've been told all is looking good by my midwife and the hospital midwives, but i dont know if the aches etc inside are normal still at 5wks post-natal

glaskham · 27/03/2009 19:10

oooh I'm all exited... One of DH's friends had a premature baby girl last year, and he's given DH a bag full of her tiny clothes for us to use for Ruby!!

I've been lucky to find some baby clothes, but not many, so she's currently living in hats that are too big and the same 7 outfits... and most of them are too big, i'm hoping there's a few bits that will fit her well now!!

Astarte · 27/03/2009 19:12

I'm 5 wk PN Glask and have been having weird ovarian area twinges but think it might be ligaments returning to normal. It feels a bit like those early cramps you get when first pg IYKWIM.

If it's anything scar related I can't help sorry.

Diege · 27/03/2009 19:13

Hello! Dd3 in bed - she was actually lovely after others had left, so might be something in the attention thing
LBOX, skimmed through that thread and take your point exactly. Life's too short - climb back into the sanity of the wagon...(although I must say it's hard for me to think of Bryn as a girl's name having had 3 (boys) called that in the class and being a welsh speaker ). Enjoy your weekend!
ASARTE, lovely about dd2's smiling; I hadn;t realised the Next sale was imminent..love their baby stuff and also the bright girls shoes they do..Oh and I never talk clothes with dh...he would have a fit if he knew how much I spend on them as he is very much a 'chuck a shirt into the trolley at asda' trpe of guy .
GLASK, bf person thing sounds excellent; think you should def give it a go
KAYZ, agree, giggling siblings are very cute - wait till ds2 giggles back!
Right, am off now until Sunday night I think, unless I get a chance to pop on before heading off to wales in the morning.
Hope everyone has a good time and that COSMO has her baby!!

glaskham · 27/03/2009 19:20

Have a good time Diege!!

Ast- mine feels like an aching inside where i was stitched up i think... it still aches sometimes after a long day, and it can be a little achey to sit up from lying down when i need the loo in the night or something... i'm sure it's just normal... but just wondered. Its not painful, just strange...

And when feeding from one side i get a little shooting pain/ache feeling down my side... only for the first few sucks then its fine- its not her latch, i know we've got that down to a tee... wondering if its my milk or something.... have an outreach SCBU nurse coming tomorrow so i will see if she knows, though she's more baby related than midwife etc... have my post-natal check next friday anyway so can ask the GP if its still happening then

lardybump · 27/03/2009 20:45

Evening all. Hope you are all well...

Astarte what does croupe sound like. DS had us up all night last night caughing. He has been snuffley since birth and we have been using saline drops but last night he couldn't breath and was coughing all night but it was a weird sounding cough... I went to GP today to check his chest and he confirmed that his chest was clear!! So I am not worried about it too much now...

DS has been a lot less sick now and is so content he is like another baby.... Long may it last, We have had a lovely couple of days and although he is only 5 weeks he is smiling as well and it is not wind either.....

DD is being an angel as well so life is really good (except I can not leave the cakes alone and have put on loads of weight that I lost!!!! Must try harder gready guts!!)

Wont be on tomorrow as we are going to BIL for the day but will be back on Sunday!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone..

Astarte · 27/03/2009 20:46

Do they not have to cut through your muscles to do a section? Could be the healing of all that. Hope you get some answers

OP posts:
Astarte · 27/03/2009 20:51

LB, croup sounds like a dog barking. It's essentially inflammation of the vocal cords and it's worse at night. You can relieve it by putting him in a room with steam (bathroom/shower on) and by sleeping in a room with the windows open to get the damp night air into him.

Last night Ds2 became quite distressed by his cough, we couldn't calm him, so Dh took him for a drive in the night air which did the trick and he had a better night than I'm convinced he would have.

It doesn't necessarily mean he'd have a chest infection, so his chest could be clear. hth
It is very distressing to them and you to hear it

glaskham · 27/03/2009 20:51

I'm not sure what they cut through!! but not had any replies as yet... hopefully i'l get some by tomorrow- off for tonight now, DH is home.

lardybump · 27/03/2009 21:13

That is really interesting to know Astarte i will have to try that... He has been fine all day so will wait and see how he is tonight if he is bad again I will open the window a little.

Who needs a gp when you have astarte!!!

I am going to try and come to your york meet up. It doesnt look promising at the moment but I am working on it!!!

GruffaloSoldier · 27/03/2009 21:33

Hi all,

Just a quick post as I am chilling out with DH. I have had a message from Gyo to say that everything is good and she is hoping to get back onto MN very soon! She just wanted to say hi to everyone

I'll be back on tomorrow for a proper catch up! enjoy the rest of your Friday evening everyone.

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 27/03/2009 22:14

evening
dh back tom aft

kayzr · 28/03/2009 08:57

Morning,

Thanks for passing the message on Gruff. Tell GYo I say Hi!!! How are you feeling Gruff? Any more leaking?

DS2 decided at 3am to suck on his fingers and wake me up, then he sneezed 5 times at 4:30am and finally wanted feeding at 5am. I feel like death, you get so used to them sleeping through that a few nights of them waking up hits you like a ton of bricks.

Cosmogirl · 28/03/2009 09:23

Morning all,

Dark and miserable morning here - bit like my mood! Still nothing happening apart from so much bladder pressure I am needing to wee every half an hour. The bump feels really tight today too but not sure what that means.

MW at 11.30 so maybe she will say something interesting but I'm not holding my breath on that one! They have been pretty hopeless up till now...My tactic today is to try and beg for an induction at 41 weeks based on the fact I have dealt with unmedicated/treated hyperemesis for 9 months and my mental health relies on getting this baby out the week after next at the latest.

Wish me luck....

Cosmogirl · 28/03/2009 09:31

Glask - hope pains subside etc...Are you able to get up and down stairs ok? After watching all these baby programmes some women seem to recover really well and quickly from c-sections, whereas others take a while and can't manage stairs etc....

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 28/03/2009 10:19

good luck cosmo@)

GruffaloSoldier · 28/03/2009 10:20

Morning all,

Hi Kayz - no more water leakage here so things are looking good. Im feeling ok too, just niggly aches and pains here and there. Am also eating like a horse - can't stop!

Cosmo - good luck with the mw.hopefully she will give you wahat you want. Fingers crossed!

LB - glad to hear DS isn't been sick anymore but sorry to hear he might have croupe. LO I nannied for had that. Steamy bathroom is definitely a help!

Glask - sorry I can't help you on c section probs but my sister had one and I think back then you were expected not to drive for 10 weeks but depending on how you felt. Some recoveries do take long. If you're aching badly then maybe you are doing too much, which Im sure is quite easy with 3 DCs! They def have to cut through all your muscles which is why you have to be careful with bending and lifting. Def speak to someone professional about for reassurance - I would.

Diege - hope youre having a nice weekend with DD3.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 28/03/2009 11:03

Morning!
Amazing what a lie in and a shower can do for a girl - feeling much more human this morning than I have for most of the week

Cosmo - really hope MW is at least a bit positive/constructive today

Gruff - sounds like things are going ok. Have you any plans for the wkend or a bit of well deserved R&R?

LBOT - I had a quick sneak look at that baby names thread. Those threads are almost as bad as the AIBU ones!!

Diege - enjoy your wkend

Kay - skirt looks good. When is the wkend itself?

Tink - yay for DH being home!

LB - hope DS had a better night. Astarte and Gruff's advice is sound.

Astarte - yay for smiles

Glaskham - hi! Sorry not to sure what to advise with your aches. Just try not to overdo it (I know that's not v easy!) They do have to cut through muscle so it's all trying to knit back together now.

GYo, Star and Playing - if you're lurking, thinking of you and your LOs.

Woah - mega catch up! Sorry if I've forgotten anything!

kayzr · 28/03/2009 11:12

Ses, It's the 24th and 25th of April. It's my birthday on the 23rd so I always get DH to treat me to something there.

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 28/03/2009 11:27

Sounds good Kay!

Right, I may have got out of my 6 day working week but the house is an absolute tip and I need to do a load of washing, tidying, dusting, hoovering, etc today.

My mum has offered to come over for an hour this afternoon and do some ironing which is great. (She did say something like "I'll come over and do some ironing for an hour if you like, but please don't ask me to do anything else."!!!) Ironing actually would probably be most useful so I'm not complaining!!

Baby is filling my abdomen now - loads of fanjo movements that make me jump (guess that tallies with MW theory that baby's engaged) and also feeling of baby's back and bottom on the right with occassional leg kicks up into the ribs! Was quite impressed I managed to cut my toenails this morning but it wasn't comfortable and took ages!!

SesIsCountingdowntheweeks · 28/03/2009 14:53

V quiet on here today!

Someone I work with was due their baby this week so I sent her a message on FB to find out how things were going as comments on her wall suggested the baby has been born.
She's just replied and said,"Its all harder than it looks and no amount of prep will prepare you for the real thing"

Great!!! Thanks a lot mate!!!
Not sure what to reply back now!!

Cosmogirl · 28/03/2009 16:16

Afternoon,

Just a quick update from mw. All ok with baby which is now fully engaged (that explains the bladder issues) and LOA. Still, she said that's no guarantee of things happening and gave me a scary stat that 40 per cent of first time mums have to be medically induced....seems high.

Have been offered sweep on Fri when I'll be 40+3 which is early as they aren't really supposed to do it until +7. And then would be booked for induction on 9th April because with they try to avoid inductions around bank holidays.

Feel a bit better about things now and it is good to know there is now a cut off point of the 9th. It is a couple of days later than I would have liked but I guess two days is neither here nor there and with any luck it won't come to an induction.

Sorry for the me post - just been for a 3 hour nap and feeling all weird and spaced out but just wanted to update and thank those who have sent good wishes and labour vibes xx

Cosmogirl · 28/03/2009 16:29

Ps. Ses - I wouldn't take too much notice of what your friend said. Everyone has different pregnancies, everyone has takes to newborn stage/motherhood differently. Just because she is finding it challenging doesn't mean you will. People just like to scare others I think. I thought preg would be a breeze and it has been one of the hardest things ever, so I'm hoping the motherhood bit will seem easy in comparison! We'll see..

Starshinetiger · 28/03/2009 17:17

Hi All. Sorry again no time to catch up on all the goings on. Cosmo - glad to hear MW will do early sweep - thinking of you and hope baby arrives soon.
Gruff - glad waters are staying in tact, hope you're resting up.
Mini-Star came off intensive care on Thursday to ordinary ward. They have weaned her off all intravenous drugs and she's now just having antibiotics and when she needs it paracetamol - temperarture is niggling high consistently. Today I have been able to start bfing, which is fab - last couple of days have been expressing and feeding to her, which has been knackering, but they needed to measure how much they were feeding her. Hopefully by tomorrow she'll be off the intravenous fluids/calories she's been getting and then it'll be all down to me - real test as she's currently just above her birth weight, but she has latched on today okay. Hopefully stents from her kidneys will be out on Monday and then we'll be on countdown to getting home - hopefull a week from Monday, but have to see how she goes! So, all looking positive, but DH goes back to work on Mon, so he is going home tomorrow, which is fab for DS, but I am a little sad at being at hospital on my own with DD for a week - love DD, but am pretty restricted to ward now I am bfing. Never mind, am sure we'll be home soon and I'll be wishing for some peace . Am hoping my BF is back from her hols this week rather than next, as she lives in London and might pop in. DS came up with his grandparents today and was so lovely - I am really missing him . We rang him last night and while we were on, Charlotte started crying and he said in a really sad voice "Is my Charlotte crying? Is my Charlotte alright?". He has been sooo good though, considering he's now been looked after for 2 weeks by my Mum/inlaws and only seen us sporadically.
Anyway, was supposed to be a quick post - DH is going to call me if DD wakes up wanting food! Shall check in as and when I can for baby news - wishing those imminent a smooth and as pain-free as possible labour/birth.

tinkhas2scrummygirls · 28/03/2009 22:16
