Hi ReeBee I am still working due on 26th May and plan to work up to early May - see how it goes - probably up to 3 weeks before - looking forward to it and hopefully some summer type weather!

Momino · 16/03/2009 20:34

About Mat leave, I really wish I'd have finished sooner than 30/3. I'm really not into work anymore. In fact, supposed to be doing some now but can't be bothered.

llareggub · 16/03/2009 20:37

Just a quick one...waiting for my inlaws as I have been told to go to labour ward to get checked out. Can't go until they get here as DS can't come too. I'm sure I'm fine, but feeling like my BP is high, my feet are swollen and I've had what feels like shortness of breath/heart racing. I'll post later!

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 20:40

llare Hope you're OK. If you're going to a trust like mine, be prepared to stay in for the night.

bekkaboo · 16/03/2009 20:50

Hi everyone, gosh im getting really bad BH tonight, been very un comfortable for last hour or so, bit of reminder for me! Been midwife today, the baby was head down although i realise still room for her to move around again. Strangely though my stomach seems to have dropped? def much lower and a gap under boobs until now, is this right 2nd time round? i thought all happened last minute.

bekkaboo · 16/03/2009 21:00

hope alls ok llaregubb, keep us informed x

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 21:10

Well, ds and dd have been busy with the camera again tonight and I've got a few new bump pictures on my profile. It has definitely grown!

pulapula · 16/03/2009 21:14

Wow belgianchocs that is a great bump! Might get DH to take some of mine in a minute, as the camera is right next to me...

flippineck · 16/03/2009 21:32

What a lovely bump, Belgian! I've been feeling huge for the last few days, but one of my work colleagues made me feel good today - she's someone I've worked with for years, quite a bit older than me and has grown up children - anyway, she said that I looked 'just like you but with a lovely bump'. It made me smile for ages, sad I know.

Llaregub - hope all is ok.

Runningmonkey - fingers crossed for good house news.

Blotted - happy birthday! and Chocolatebunnies - happy birthday for tomorrow.

I'm finishing work in 3 weeks. Mat leave officially starts 20 April (due 8 May) but I'm taking two weeks holiday before my ml starts. I'm doing a really bad job at work at the moment, winding everything down and really unmotivated. I seem to remember being like this last time too though.

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 21:41

I need to try to get on here every day cos again I'd about 5 pages to catch up on!

Sophietom - re real nappies - I found a site, similar to ebay, but that deals only in used real nappies - the used nappy company. I got a fab deal on 15 bambinex nappies, covers, liners, bin etc for around £60. I've never used real nappies before, but fancied trying them out, though the initial cost and all the types freaked me out a bit. So I kinda guess this site worked for me!! I'll only know for sure in about 8 weeks or so!!! But initially I'll be using disposables too - no stress!

Polony - yes to a car seat to pram system here too. Though Id stay away from the carry cot types as they are a lot bigger and can take up the whole of your back seat, as well as being very heavy. I had a M&P Pliko with a Nevada carry cot for DS and I hated the system - heavy, took up back seat of a Peugeot 307, awkward to click on to pram... THis time going for an ordinary car seat that goes with my M&P Skate system. If this baby needs to be in the system for longer than an hour the pram lies flat, so will lie in there when being pushed...

Blotted - belated Happy Birthday. Dont worry about hubbies getting it wrong. My thoughtful pressie came from Tescos on his way home... Got a MeatLoaf combi cd/dvd (already have the CD) and 2 James Patterson books (1 of which I already had...) And he didn't get a card 'to mummy', so I had to get ds to write on dh's card to me. I tried not to get upset about it, but it does bug me...Why do some men leave things so friggin late?? Really make you feel special dont they??

Jael - Oh not long now girl!!!! Good news on your CS date!!!

ChocBunnies - how are your headaches and tingly hands?? It is very possible that the ligaments in your neck have relaxed too becausee of the relaxant hormone in your body. I have this all the time, but caused by prolapsed discs in my neck. If this is the cause, be aware of your posture, using your hands a lot or doing repetative tasks (eg typing) can agrivate it; you may even find eg ironing/reading a book where you have to look downwards and hold your arms up slightly also is a tingle causer! I take co-codamol, sleep on one pillow (memory foam type) and rest my painful arm on another bean pillow to sleep... And Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!

re dreams - I get very disturbing dreams at times that are vivid and upsetting. I have to remind myself they are not real...

re slings - a new mum near where I live uses a sling and I was asking her about hers. She knows a lot of mums with them and has tld me not to buy any until after baby is born when she will lend me a load of different types for me to try out for a week or so!! Fantastic offer!

re driving in the 70s - my parents would put me between them in the front, sitting on a cushion on top of the hand brake! And there were plenty of times me and my load of cousins travelled in the boot. Also recall travelling in the back of a van!!! My mum just carried my sis or bro on her lap in the back seat - no seat belts!!!!!! Wouldnt even think of doing it now!

Belly spots here too - even got a few really sore ones under my bump where my under the bump jeans rub against...

Will try the 'bum up in the air' pose to try to get baby's bum to move up a bit. But I won't do it if DH is in the house - if he sees me in that position he may think his luck's in....

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 21:50

On Saturday night my lower back went into spasms so much so that I could hardly breathe with it.!! DH got me co-codamol and helped prop me with pillows behind my back & between my knees. Thankfully it eased within half an hour of taking the tabs otherwise I'd've phoned the hosp for fear of early labour starting. I blame it on doing some vacuuming in the shop on Saturday!!

Then this morning I took the most amazing pain where my appendix would be if I still had one!! Again, the breathe was taken from me, I could hardly walk or press my tummy. I tried to stretch it out by keeping active, but eventually I had to get ds to ask dh to come downstairs. I heard dh ask ds to ask me to make him a cuppa - so I had to call up from the hall where I was sitting on a chair that I couldn't move!! So he came down and helped me to my feet into the family room to lie down. Eventually got to the loo - think it was a very bad case of wind and diarrhoea!!! Anyhw DH took the day off work to keep an eye on me! But it took most of the day to settle... I wonder if it had anything to do with trying out my new Wii Fit last night!!???

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 21:53

Ilareggub - how are you babe??

flippineck - my ds said something similar to me - he told me the bump didn't make me look fat - it made me look like mummy!!!

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 21:54

divedaisy I've been on that website too, but haven't bought anything yet. I found my old Kushies on the loft, another thing I thought I didn't have anymore. So on top of the 20 Kushies I've also got 10 other nappes (bambinex and some I can't remember). I think I've got enough now to only have to do 1 load a week! They're all in size 1 as well, so I'll end up having to buy new ones when lo is about 6-9 months, depending on how fat it is! That's great about that mum offering you to try out her slings. I think it's definitely good advise not to buy one until you can try it with baby. That's how I ended up having to spend money on a 2nd baby carrier last time, because the 1st one just wasn't right for my baby.

I've discovered that I do have a linea negra, but it's underneath my belly button where I can't see it. I discovered it this morning while sitting in front of the big mirror on our wardrobe! I should do that more often, who knows what else my bump is hiding from me.

Thanks for all the lovely comments about my bump. I don't think it's quite as big as with my ds and dd, but it's big enough

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 22:02

divedaisy I've had that really bad wind pain in my 1st pregnancy. It was so bad I couldn't get comfortable in any position and my mum thought I was in early labour and phoned the doctor (I was visiting her in Belgium at the time). It did pass, but took a good day. Horrible. You've got my sympathies.

My dd sees the bump as a separate being, i.e. my baby. Almost as if she doesn't think the baby is in there, but that my belly IS the baby. So she'll show her friends at school her baby, i.e. my belly. Of course that thoroughly confuses her little 4-5yo friends.

My ds today made me go 'aaaw' today and made me get tears in my eyes. He's very worried about moving and having to leave his friends behind later this year. And he said to me that even if he doesn't see his friends anymore they'll still be with him. He'll carry them around in his heart! He's 7. That was soooo sweet and very unexpected.

Hypatia · 16/03/2009 22:18

bekkaboo my stomach has dropped too in the past few days - it's a relief to be able to breathe now as baby was tucked right up under my sternum before.

Don't know if it is just that my stomach muscles have given up or just early preparation? I will be 32 weeks on Friday.

bekkaboo · 16/03/2009 22:22

Hypatia im sure someone will be able to advise us soon on this.. Ill be 32 weeks on sat so jus a day apart!

pulapula · 16/03/2009 22:32

My bump seems to have dropped too at 30 weeks. However i'm wondering if its just because baby is low and transverse, as all the movements i get are low down across the whole front of my belly.

i decided i needed to tend to my hairy legs and ladygarden tonight which was a tricky pruning job . Had to do it by touch and a mirror to check on results...as i did a thorough job i'm hoping it'll last a good month or two lol

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 22:36

just having a browse at other threads - OMG - there's a Due in November thread now!!!!

Oh Belgian - your son sounds very sweet and sensitive too. My ds moved schools last Sept and he missed his year 1 friends a lot too - he meets up with them occassionally and invited them to his birthday on Jan. Oh give hime a big huggle!! Boys can be fabulous! Anyone out there who may be worried about having a boy - they can be wee darlings (and they can also be wee nasties like my nephew...)

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 22:40

pulapula - hairy legs - contortionist positions!!! As for lady garden - I think I'll be leaving the pruning for now...

detsy · 16/03/2009 22:44

Hi all

Febes - more snap!! My maternity leave starts on 1st May and also work from home a lot so am hoping will be ok!! Have had a few days off back end this week and today, tomo as well - was thinking tonight have really enjoyed the time away from dull, dull work stuff so hope that I keep my momentum up till beginning of May.

Spangle a restaurant in Wheelock ?? Didn't know there were any I'm easy for the April dates as long as I have a bit of notice to get organised

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 22:45

Watching Bridget Jones and then going to bed... away to get a cuppa tea. Oh the big fight scene again!!!! Come on Mark D'arcy!!!!

Then nighty nitey!

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 22:47

Maternity leave - I suppose I'm on mine... though it's not official or anything because I'm a director of a company and only work when required and don't get paid for my time at the moment.

sausagenmash · 16/03/2009 22:50

Polony - big poo re your appointment. How annoying.

Just got into weird positions in front of the mirror on the wardrobe to see if I have a linea nigra thing. I don't. Looked a right plonker.

Llare - hope you're ok - let us know!

Momino - I know exactly how you feel. I can't be arsed with work either. The thought of sitting in the office all day tomorrow with no ventilation (apart from windows that open 2 inches because of bloody health and safety) and the heating on full blast does NOT feel me with joy. And I still have to wear tights as my legs are too hairy . I've got a uniform, but its now too tight - we can get maternity ones, which I've already got the trousers for, and I've managed to get by with my tent like tunic up till now. Can't be bothered to go to the laundry room cos:
1 - Its in the hot and smelly basement near the morgue
2 - I can never remember when its open, especially now with pregnancy head
3 - You need a signed thingy from your manager, who I can never find
4 - It takes a couple of weeks to get the maternity tunics in in my colour, which by then its not really worth it
5 - Can't be bovvered.

NB - with reference to number 4, thats not me being picky re shades to match my delicate hue, but we get different coloured tunics to denote different grades of slave ahem, 'health care professional'

Sorry, I'm wittering. I'm off for my bedtime glass of milk and the land of nod. Sweet dreams y'all...

Sigh.

divedaisy · 16/03/2009 22:51

I must start going through all the stuff I've got. Have been asking dh to bring in the crib from garage to get it cleaned etc... maybe he'll do it tomorrow.

Is anyone feeling baby's movements that are painful?? Sometimes it feels like it's trying to escape out my arse or fanjo!! it really hits a nervy nerve!!!

Belgianchocolates · 16/03/2009 22:53

divedaisy did it take your ds a long time to settle in? I am worried about mine. He is one of the most sensitive sweetest boys around and doesn't do change very well. As a baby and toddler he used to get physically ill on holiday or at my parents just because he wasn't in his own environment. Both my dh and I are worried really.
