I think it's a lovely idea bronze...the cervix club...

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 21:53

www.contractionmaster.com

bronze · 05/03/2009 21:53

must add I'm not sat here trying

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 21:54

Oh, and can it ever disappear further up again if you've found it easily?

bronze · 05/03/2009 21:55

I would think if baby engages/disengages it would make a difference. I can feel this one has engaged but cos my pelvis is looser it pops in and out with ease.

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 21:56

just to reiterate..i am not a health professional...just a very curious proddy sort of person

It tends to gradually come forward and dilates over the last few weeks of pregnancy, but actually this means very little in terms of readiness as you can walk around 2-3cm for ages in latent labout (2 weeks for me last time!) or go from a very closed cervix to fast contractions and dilation in a few hours. It's not good people! Just making me more impatient

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 21:56

i'm leaving mine well alone for now...... though give me a few weeks

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 21:57

yep forgot to say my LO is engaged and I can feel it just above cervix.

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 21:57

Hmmmmmmm, my cervix makes me very nervous. I'm hoping that I can walk around for at least a few more weeks with an easily accessible cervix. It has become much more accessible over the last couple of days.

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 21:57

I admire your willpower Nutty. I am rubbish

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 21:59

This is sooo funny. DH is sat no more than a metre away from me with no idea what we are discusssing [girlish giggle]

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 22:01

lol dh saw lo on the scan yesterday and it was head down, lil hands rubbing its eyes apparantly and very active. He's very impatient now, was telling me that he just wants her to come out and play now

am 5/5 what does that mean??

mathsmummy27 · 05/03/2009 22:02

either totally engaged or not at all as I understand it! No consistency amongst healthcare people grrrr gives fractions a bad name...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 22:02

Maths - not willpower really just more like laziness and an inability to reach

bronze · 05/03/2009 22:02

not at all I think

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 22:02

DH is fascinated and amused by the contraction master. He laughed at it flashing red when he had a pretend contraction. So much for trying to use it to show him the pattern, or rather lack of pattern in BH.

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 22:03

Not at all engaged.

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 22:04

5/5!!! That means he is completely engaged. If you sit up too fast he will fly out and hit the wall on the opposite side of the room. Problem solved.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 22:04

oh, ok will ask my MW next week probably not at all in my case lol though pelvis majorly sore so who knows

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 22:04

Ah, well Swali is a bit more medical than me, she has mopped up all those old ladies, so I would probably listen to her.

Swaliswan · 05/03/2009 22:05

I hope that it means not at all engaged anyway, because that's what the obstetrician wrote on my notes when I was 26 weeks pg.

bronze · 05/03/2009 22:05

No its not at all

just double checked. The first numbe ris the amount that can be felt abdominally so if its 4/5ths then you can feel 4/5 above the pelvis and only 1/5 is in the pelvis.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 05/03/2009 22:05

ahhh ok not engaged then

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 22:06

So no instant birth for Nutty them. Pants.

BoffinMum · 05/03/2009 22:07

I am 4/5 engaged apparently.
