PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 19:10

Fantastic title.

Hey there Nutty my love, we all miss you terribly. Sending lots of hugs and best wishes.

Ok, about 200 posts to catch up.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 19:21

Clairey - Hooray for getting your HIP form. Fingers crossed for another live birth thread.

MrsFossil - Which concert are you going to?

Surprise - That sounds like a hell of a time you had with DS1. You must be one tough cookie. And he sounds like a smart lad.

Frekkles - Good to hear you sounding upbeat. What a great idea to put mirrors in the garden. I loved Mystic River, I don't think could watch it whilst pregnant though, i'd be a blubbing wreck.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 19:29

Oh here you all are. Thought it was a bit quiet.

Nutty - so good to have you back. How goes it? Presumably plenty of industrial strength drugs available to keep you comfortable. We've all been worried about you.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 04/03/2009 19:37

Hello again! What a quick thread that was...

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 19:50

Kitty - I can't remember which room I was in. It was a fairly long time ago, back in my distant mis-spent youth [nostalgic emoticon] but looking at the website they have definitely been redecorated. The room I was in felt like Laurence Lewellyn Bowen had been let loose with plenty of hallucinogenic drugs, a load of zebra print faux fur and purple and silver paint (or maybe it was me who had the hallucinogenics - I really can't remember). The decor looks far more chic and seductively decadent now.

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 04/03/2009 19:58

Oooh Lulu it was VERY seductive... all crushed velvet, fur drapes, silk panelled ceilings and crocodile leather floors... Needless to say, it was a very tactile weekend!

BoffinMum · 04/03/2009 20:01

Hello people, went out for a curry because I had to throw all our food out today due to the fridge crisis, and lost track of the threads, so I posted a couple of things on the old one.

Nutty me ol sport, glad you are compos mentis and able to post. Are you doing that from Patientline or from your phone? Mine wouldn't let me post from the console. although I could read all your posts. Are you surrounded by mooing women??

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:02

Divine Kitty. They look gorgeous on the website.

Have been heavily hinting to DH that he needs to plan something for mother's day (esp as I didn't even get a card for Valentine's day this year ) but with DD in tow I don't think the Crazy Bear is quite the place. Had been more hoping for one of the Luxury Family Hotels which my friend says are brilliant.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:04

Puzzle - there are loads of empty posts to fill on the last thread .

Gwaaaan - get over there and get the last one.

Schulte · 04/03/2009 20:08

Aaaargh why is it impossible to grill a burger without setting the fire alarm off!?

Nutty! You're here! How are things... hope they are treating you well xxx

Hmmm, pop up travel cots - anyone here got any experience with them? I have read very mixed reviews basically saying that as soon as LO can roll over they are useless... and DD started rolling over very early on.

Also, normal travel cots - do you use the hard plastic mattress they come with or has anyone bought an extra foam mattress to go on top? I see Mothercare do them and am tempted because it never looks cosy with the plastic one.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 04/03/2009 20:10

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:14

Just paracetamol Nutty? What happened to your morphine?

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 04/03/2009 20:18

stupid nurses not giving it to me, gonna get dh to ask for me now as hes on way home.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 20:19

Gingersarah - Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. Can you break the jobs down into manageble chunks and insist DH get on with things?
Oh, just saw Boffin's doula suggestion, that's a great idea.

Bleu - Have a hug you poor thing. Please tell people you haven't the energy to entertain them. I'm sure they will understand.
And how can you call yourself lazy, what utter nonsense!

Boff - Sheesh, you really have gremlns. Have you managed to get anythng fixed? Will your home insurance cover the spoiled food? Can you rope DD into cooking some new batches for you?

Swali - That was such a beautiful post to Bleu. And it's so true. No matter how tough the day has been, DD always manages to lift my spirit and make my heart sing.

Lulu - If you get soft stuff from ELC I think it's fairly harmless if DD does swallow some.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:21

Schulte I've got the big Samsonite Pop-up bubble here.

Once DD was biggish she could turn it over but only by getting up on her knees and pushing hard to the side. Certainly not before 9 months

This was obviously quite entertaining for her.

To be honest I didn't have masses of success with getting her to sleep in it, although she has always liked playing in it. But for first 6 months DD co-slept with me and I really couldn't get her to sleep anywhere else. Occasionally she would sleep in the lie-flat car seat and in desperation I brought that into the bedroom a few times.

But DDs insomnia is a whole seperate issue. I think the Samsonite cot is brilliant. So light and easy to use and DD is as likely to sleep in that as in anything else.

Last time we went away we relied on the one they supplied and 3 nights into a 2 week holiday she worked out how to dismantle the cot (which was a pretty solid robust thing!!!) and I wished I had taken my Samsonite.

mumblemumhome4lunch · 04/03/2009 20:22

evening all

smutty - sooo pants the time you are having. Must be horrid being admitted but hopefully you feel better all the same, if it's where you need to be. Big hugs

Boff - have you upset someone who's now cursed all your houshold appliances, what a nightmare for you. I would just weep buckets over the freezer. I've never had so many go so wrong at once, just the boiler pack up on Xmas day a couple of yrs ago, which was bad enough.

was going to say more but DD just woken up and may be about to throw up so best go quickly.....................

thebluefoxategreensocks · 04/03/2009 20:29

Not another thread already! sigh

Schulte · 04/03/2009 20:30

Oh Mumblemum, hope DD is okay?

LuLu thanks for advice - will have a good think about all this and Paris - I mean apart from the hassle, how likely is it that I'll be enjoying myself at that wedding, what with a 2 month old baby attached to my breast and not having had more than 5 hours sleep a night for weeks?

Nutty I really hope they can find what it is and that it's not PE! Get DH to smuggle some nice food in for you.

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:34

Tricky Schulte. I've got the same issue with a wedding at the end of May. DD is definitely not invited (and I understand and respect this - I only had family children at my own wedding). I am already wondering what to do with her, and also how to cope with a wedding with a newborn baby - what will I wear that I will be able to breastfeed in for example?

But the groom is really a great friend and I would never miss one of his weddings (it's not his first... - I actually went to his stag do first time round ).

LuLuBai · 04/03/2009 20:36

My cat is wierd. He's sitting just staring into the washing machine. There's nothing in it. It's not switched on... Wassup?

conkertree · 04/03/2009 20:38

just popping on for a very quick hello and saw a specific mention of slings from juwesm - I had a didymos (wrap sling - non-stretchy) with ds - was fab but going with an ellaroo for this one at least when it's wee as the only bad point of it is that it's quite warm.

I'd always go with a wrap sling over a baby bjorn cause of the length of time you can wear them without getting a sore back - but as someone else said, maybe its not bad if you get it properly fitted.

But wrap slings take a little practice but then are pretty quick to put on, hold the baby in the best position for their hips etc and can carry them for hours without back ache.

as far as I can tell, stretchy wraps are great while the baby is wee but they grow too heavy for them much sooner than the non-stretchy ones.

The didymos is expensive online £75+ usually - but i got for £50 at a baby show - definitely one of my best purchases.

others are cheaper but not always as good.

and thats my sermon over.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 20:41

Lulu - That Prince Charles story was sooo cute.
If the old thread isn't full when I have caught up, I may pop over there.
DH is also under strict instruction to pamper me on Mothering Sunday.

Maths - DD was singing and dancing to The Cult today. DH was so proud when I told him.

Boff - My milk came in on Day 1 and I went from being an a cup pre pregnancy to a b during , to looking like Jordans' bustier sister. They looked almost plastic where the skin was so tight. They settled down pretty quickly though with help from my little milk monster.

Bleu - When I was little I used to make believe giving birth.

Swali / Purple - Nice to hear i'm not the only one.

PuzzleRocks · 04/03/2009 20:44

Nutty - You are amazing. A proper trooper.
