brightonbaby I'm in Hove so v near you! Congrats on your bfp.

EasyEggs · 23/03/2009 14:54

Just called MW and have a scan 8.55 Thursday morn. I knew something was wrong though. This preg just hasn't felt right from the start. Haven't felt pregnant at all. Have had mc before and it's pretty much the same so think I know what scan will show, thanks though

EasyEggs · 23/03/2009 14:55

I have no idea why I put a smiley face on there

mrsdisorganised · 23/03/2009 14:58

Easyeggs, just to say I'm thinking of you and hope you can keep strong x

scarlotti · 23/03/2009 15:00

easyeggs sounds like you're taking it in your stride and will keep everything crossed for Thurs. Try and stay busy until then. Have been there before so understand what you mean about the feeling, but it's not over till the fat lady sings

FattipuffsandThinnifers · 23/03/2009 15:08

Hello, can I join you all?

Have been lurking a bit on this thread, am 8 weeks pregnant with dc#2, but have been a bit hesitant to join before as I have had 3 miscarriages in the past. But I feel a bit more confident now as I had a scan this morning and saw the heartbeat and all is well .

EDD of 31 October - if it's ok with y'all I'd rather join this group than the Oct one.

Looking forward to getting to know people in this group

hamandegger · 23/03/2009 15:24

Hi, hope everyones OK. Fingers crossed easyeggs, hope it all works out. fattipuffs, congratulations. Where does the name come from - me and my friend used to call each other that when younger - was it a programme or something? cant recall where it came from.

ldeeanna · 23/03/2009 15:26

Im really sorry easyeggs, good luck with your scan take it easy xx

FattipuffsandThinnifers · 23/03/2009 15:33

Hamandegger - it was a French children's book (1950s/60s??), about a strange land with a long-lasting war between the fattipuffs (fat and lazy) and thinnifers (thin and uptight). Won't say which camp I'm in post-childbirth

hamandegger · 23/03/2009 15:40

hmm, not sure if i was proficient with french childrens literature at that age, maybe i was just odd?

pedalmonster · 23/03/2009 15:59

Hello ladies - have not checked in since Friday and MY oh MY how many conversations I have missed!

Welcome and congratualtions to all the newbies, YIPPEE for all those who are getting dates for scans, oh Dear! [sigh] for all those who are waiting for scan dates!

I have heard that weird / busy dreams are normal, which is good as my brain is very busy at night. Must be making up for me being a total idiot during the day. Must have walked from lounge to kitchen and back 100 times yesterday wondering what I was going to get. I'm only just 5 weeks and already starting to feel sick - or am I just imagining it?!haha

I am starving constantly too - and can't stay awake during the day! Of course, I wake up at 2am with no problems and annoy DH asking him if he's awake.
So I feel that I am definitely in good company here!
Feeling slightly guilty that I ate 1/2 a lemon merangue pie yesterday (oink!) and merangue is suspicious... egg white etc, and also bacon and eggs with runny yolk - but to be honest I didn't even acknowledge that until today Honestly, its Eat or be Eaten! Will have to get DH up in the loft next weekend to get my maternity clothes down, as I will be too fat to fit into anything else at this rate!

BeckyBendyLegs · 23/03/2009 16:11

Hello Easyeggs my thoughts are with you.

Hello FattipuffsandThinnifers Welcome! Good news on your scan. And what a great name!

I've just finally rung the doctors, appointment next week, get me on the pregnancy band waggon.

At the moment I seem to feel ropey in the morning and fine from about 1pm-7pm when the tiredness kicks in. So I feel quite well at the moment. This morning I felt really rough and the cat weeing on the bean bag and then doing a huge pile of poo (sorry, hope I don't upset any stomachs) behind the TV really did not help. She's only recently been weened off the litter tray and using outside. I think it was too cold last night and she didn't want to go out!

Hope everyone else is feeling ok today.

Fruitpastels · 23/03/2009 16:27

Thinking of you easyeggs

Fruitpastels · 23/03/2009 16:31

Scarlotti the ms doesn't feel so bad this afternoon. I've started eating more which really helps. I am working. I'm a childminder and work part time. It's a tiring job without being pg, but at least I can put my feet up when mindee is having a sleep and ds can watch a film.

Welcome newbies!

SparklyPseudonym · 23/03/2009 16:43

Hi ladies,
Have been lurking here for a while now. Am 8+3 so EDD is around 30th October. Had a m/c in September at 10 weeks so have been holding off joining a thread. Had a scan at 5+6 which showed sac and yolk sac then some brown discharge at 6 and 7 weeks and then scan on Friday at EPU showed bean at 8 weeks with a strong HB. Am only just starting to feel slightly sick so please don't panic if you don't have any symptoms.
Cupcakefairy I wanted to post because I was at Cardiff EPU on Friday too. When I was there at 5+6 I saw a doctor who told us that everything was looking too small for dates - anyway when she rescanned us on Friday she added a day and am hoping things will work out the same for you. I wonder if we saw the same doc?

katster37 · 23/03/2009 16:51

easyeggs I am so sorry for you. Thinking of you.

Ideanna how are the weird twinges today after your trip?

Welcome newbies!

SparklyPseudonym that's great about the scan and encouraging for cupcake.

My queasiness has disappeared today although boobs agony. Have already abandoned existing bras and am onto M&S's sexiest non-wired ones!

ldeeanna · 23/03/2009 17:38

Hi Kaster 37 thank you-my twinges turned into pains today-but they've stopped now only had two sharp pains! but still paranoid-midwife said I should be fine but im so frightened-im frightened anyway without the fall! Midwife is going to call me for a chat tomo so hopefully will get an early scan-terrified there wont be a heartbeat. Need to stop being a clumbsy oaf! Slept 12 hours last night-with terrible nightmares listen to this dream-I was 14 and had a baby-but it was a doll-but alive!! And no one would give it to me as I was too young and I went to check on it in the night and it had passed away...? Scary! Hope I dont get anymore of those!! Also had a dream recently that my mums arm had fallen off!!!
I wouldnt worry about queasiness-ive hardly had anything-you've just had a lucky escape day! My boobs are agony too-but getting bigger!! Yes!!

brightonbaby · 23/03/2009 17:43

Good luck for your scan easyeggs scarlotti Good to hear you are in Hove. I am too, strictly speaking, just on the border. Shame it's started raining now!

Just had my first docs appt...on the telephone, which is the way they are doing it now! She sounded a bit clueless, to be honest. I asked if I could continue running and she said best not to, after much hesitation. Is this true? I'm sure it would benefit me if I could do a gentle jog but I don't want to risk anything.

Also, is anyone taking a fish oil, omega 3 supplement? It's got structural fatty acids (the sort you'd get from oily fish)? Again, not sure if this is the right thing to do.

Booked a MW appt for 2nd April. Really looking forward to that.

Hope everyone's feeling all right today.

katster37 · 23/03/2009 17:52

Hi brightonbaby I am taking omega 3 that comes with pregnacare prenatal vits. I think it's the ones with DHA that you want, and not the ones like cod liver oil as that is high in vitamin A.

ursigurke · 23/03/2009 18:02

brightonbaby, as far as I know gentle running is ok, but it shouldn't be exhausting as the baby has to get enough oxygen. The second thing is that you have to wear well cushioned shoes (maybe jumping around is not the best). I think they recommend swimming as an ideal sport for pregnant women.

cupofteaplease · 23/03/2009 18:03

Hi all, just had a little look on the food standards agengy website and it says o restrict all oily fish to only 2 portions per week- NO! Surely this cannot be true?! All I want to eat at the moment is smoked salmon in scrambled eggs, mackeral salad, salmon with jacket potato... Fish is my main food group! I shall have to switch to prawns and crab sticks, or baked cod. I LOVE fish- in fact, is it too early for cravings

I'm sure it is. However, my craving with dd2 was twiglets. I used to have a family sized bag each evening for my main meal. So at least a fish-based craving is slightly more healthy and balanced!

BeckyBendyLegs · 23/03/2009 18:07

I'm eating melon and Greek yoghurt and it tastes divine! I recommend it! I've been craving melons for a few days now.

BeckyBendyLegs · 23/03/2009 18:08

It's not too early! I'm so craving melons it is untrue. And Pepsi Max

ursigurke · 23/03/2009 18:17

I think you have to listen to your body and eat what it demands (ok, maybe not too much of it) as long as it is nothing forbidden.
At the moment I find it very difficult to know what I should eat, as I'm very often feeling sick and hungry in the same time, so as soon as I want something specific than I'll try to get it. Of course I try to eat healty food but also the things that my body asks for.

katster37 · 23/03/2009 18:22

Oooo I was wondering about cravings and whether it is too early! I am a fruit maniac at the minute which I am pleased about (ie atleast it's not crisps!) and am going through a ton of grapes, yellow plums (how good are they?!) kiwis, nectarines, strawberries, melons... [salivates on keyboard...]
