tristaleejac · 27/02/2009 13:17

Hiya I'm back and I put 2 pics up for you

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 13:18

I dunno. I don't know why he was offering anyway,to be honest - it's a bit strange. I'm constantly surprised by how helpful he seems to want to be - I think he feels horribly guilty for making me have to do this in the first place

At all of our NCT things, he's been asking loads of questions about how to be most useful during & after the birth. It's very cute, really. He's even managed to find himself a dads & babies group that runs for 2 hours on a Saturday morning so I can have some time to myself. We'll see how long that lasts

I don't know how useful I'd find him being in the pool anyway. I'm not even sure how useful I'll find the pool itself - it all sounds really good in theory, but I can imagine myself getting fed up of being cold & wet. I suppose it'll just depend on how it goes. I will feel bad if I make him get in the poo water with me & then kick him out again within 2 minutes, telling him he's irritating the hell out of me

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 13:21

Sorry, I was wandering around doing other things - didn't mean to abandon you!

& trista, your bump's so cute! I'll take a photo of mine later, when DH is back - we've not done a proper one for a while. It's nowhere near as nice as yours. & I don't think LO would've stayed still enough to have a cast done - if anything touches the bump, he starts shoving it away!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/02/2009 13:22

Trista - thats cool

Springy lol i think he just wants to play a big part in it all, he sounds v excited very cute lol

OP posts:
tristaleejac · 27/02/2009 13:27

Ha ha it was quite mad actually, having baby wriggling around and feeling it kicking against the cast. A bit weird.
Once the cast is properly dry I'll put up a pic of the finished article

Totally, bring on the bump pics!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/02/2009 13:28

it is all very wait and see this birth business. lol i wanted to hold dh's hand one minuite and then threw his hand away the next bless him (i think they expect it to a degree but still get shocked by it all bless them )

i went through needy and independant phases througout must have been v confusing for poor dh

OP posts:
B52s · 27/02/2009 13:29

I like the cast idea but don't think I could bear anything to touch my hernia. Doesn't generally hurt - can't even feel it really, untill I bump it on something. DS1 kicked it this morning and that was really nasty. Think they're quite rare as I posted a question on it yesterday and no-one has replied. Will be asking midwife about it next time I see her. Think I'll end up having surgery for it (nnnnnh) to poke all the bits back in and cover up the hole. The hole is only about 10mm though, right where my belly button is. Don't like to think about what is poking through. DH is even more ning about it than me.

Springy - I'm v impressed with your DH. Mine has said he'll make the tea but won't be going near anything messy with my planned homebirth - little does he know he'll be doing the clearing up afterwards.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 27/02/2009 13:30

Trista - are you going to paint the cast or leave it as it is?

PuzzleRocks · 27/02/2009 13:30

Kitty - Accountants are fab people.

Did anyone here ever watch Spaced with Simon Pegg? There's a bit in it where they are discussing the song The Time Warp and he claims that the only people who like The Time Warp are sexually repressed accountants. Well I liked it when I was with my ex but since I met DH, I bloody hate it. Go figure.

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 13:31

Yeah, he is. More than I am, really - & always has been. To me, I'm still a bit 'a baby? really? ' about everything most of the time. It doesn't seem like it can be real, despite the last 30 odd weeks of crap. I'm also a bit fixated on the having to get as far as having the baby thing - there's still loads to get ready, then the actual labour (I'm more worried about the unknown than the pain, IYSWIM). It seems ridiculous that in less than 8 weeks there'll be a baby in the flat that we're entirely responsible for.

For DH, that's a really exciting notion & he can't wait, & keeps talking to my tummy, asking him to come out so we can cuddle him. For me, it's a bit scary & unbelievable. I spend most of my time looking forward to not being pregnant more than I do to having a baby. That sounds awful

I do want the baby & sometimes get really excited about it all, but not very often

PuzzleRocks · 27/02/2009 13:36

Frekkles - I just used the link bronze provided to check this pregnancy and my last and it is spot on.

BabyBolat · 27/02/2009 13:37

ooooh Nutty!!! meany !!

Springy he might take one look at the grubby water and change his mind but let him take the initiative I say and just see how it goes and just tell him that you can both see how it goes on the actually day!!!

Tristal, your bump is really cute, mine looks like a big old blob in comparison!!!

Frekkles, it sounds like you have kind of made your decision to be fair (for HB) like everyone says, why not prepare for that and if you change your mind 1 day, one hour or a minute before you can just go into hospital - choice is yours tho missy just do what feels right!

Oh yes Springy have seen that one - mean man! Although I don't like the new Christina this series, she is not as funny as before and actually gets a bit too emotional (you will see later in the series!!!)

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 13:38

Puzzle, that's a very interesting theory I quite like it, though - & I'm not either of those things. In fact I'm not sure which of those things I'm least

B52s, I think DH is just determined to be the best father the world's ever known, because his own dad... well, he wasn't. Obviously that's great for me & LO, but it comes from a place of great emotional baggage & I spend a lot of time having to reassure him that he isn't going to mess up like his dad did (like anybody ever could accidentally be such an idiot ) & that he's already being really good with all of the baby stuff. DH also gets worried that he's not bonding with the baby enough (or more to the point that the baby's not bonding with him), so spends lots of time with his hand on my bump, or talking to it. I get the impression that the poor thing won't ever get any peace, because his dad will always be prodding at him & trying to wrap his tiny hands around an Xbox controller

Please tell me that everyone else is being driven mad by having pressure on your bladder again!

Baby is really low now, and last midwife appointment he was already head down....I think he is enjoying bouncing on/punching my bladder.

arrghhh....and bump is soooo tight sometimes I feel like I am about to explode! Don't remember being this tight with DS, in fact wasn't uncomfortable until about 38 weeks!

Am only 34 weeks.....oh lord help....

B52s · 27/02/2009 13:40

Must admit I'm looking forward to not being pregnant any more more than having a brand new baby to cuddle! It does sound bad doesn't it? And I haven't even had MS or got SPD.

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 13:41

BB, this series still feels odd to me. I can't put my finger on it, but there's a different tone to it than there has been in the other 4. & it feels like it's getting a bit silly. I still love it, but I hope that I'm not going to have to start watching between my fingers out of shame.

tristaleejac · 27/02/2009 13:45

Nutty I'll paint it once it's dry, no idea what design or colour yet, but I do want to decorate it. If nothing else, it's something I can keep myself busy with in the evenings while DS sleeping.

Springy what you are feeling is totally normal, so don't even worry about it. It's a crazy thing that is happening in your life and to your body. It's only natural to have more thoughts than only baby ones. I can't wait to be able to get off the bloody sofa without taking 6 attempts.
I also, especially now I'm so uncomfortable, regularly daydream about having my body back. Doesn't mean I think any less of my baby.
