Oh, & I can taste wines, but only like sweet wines. Dry tastes oddly sour and bitter, which isn't too pleasant. I'm not sure how it's meant to taste, but I know a few people like that - it could well just be a personal preference thing that's unrelated?

BoffinMum · 27/02/2009 19:39

Springy, if you can't smell the baby's head you can get pleasure out of running your nose along it because the texture is just lovely - soft skin and little hairs. That's half the pleasure, tbh.

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 19:41

I'm a bit worried that there's some sort of primeval bonding thing that I'll be missing out on by not being able to smell it - I always sniff babies' heads out of pure instinct, so there must be a reason. I know that it doesn't mean that I won't ever love my baby or anything like that, but it does seem like it might be a bit important...

BoffinMum · 27/02/2009 19:48

I think everyone is going for a hit of Johnson's Baby Shampoo, tbh.

frostyfrekkles · 27/02/2009 19:53

i'm moving in with john tommorow and i'm suddenly terrified!

it's going to be ok isn't it? i'm going to have a home again aren't i ? and feel everything's ok and as it should be?

BabyBolat · 27/02/2009 19:55

FOr some reason I think there are 2 blue as I imagine them beign a really active sporty family with one DD that is a real daddy's girl!!

NUTTY - I do love you - I love that you worry about your DD so much - hope I am as good as you as a mummy xxx

Puzzle on the labour front DH will be so lost, I think I will be shouting at him and sending him out the room one minutes and demanding him by my side the next (poor boy!!!)

BoffinMum · 27/02/2009 20:00

Frekkles, the baby is already bringing you closer together and you had a lovely Valentine's Day.

All will be well.

BabyBolat · 27/02/2009 20:03

Frekkles, you will be so happy and things will really start to feel right for you xx

Schulte · 27/02/2009 20:04

Hi all, still struggling to catch up! Very quick and urgent question though, what's the success rate been so far with getting hold of the HiP grant claim form? Has anyone else apart from Nutty had theirs??? I am starting to get REALLY fed up because MW says she hasn't seen any, and GP didn't even know what I was talking about, and helpline is completely UNHELPFUL. What if LO arrives early, I'll be stuffed!??? Sooooo angry.

brettgirl2 · 27/02/2009 20:06

But springy, haven't you thought about the up side - you won't be able to smell the shitty nappies that you take off. Surely that will help you with bonding

Puzzle I've outgrown my maternity jeans too - tbh I find normal trousers/trackie bottoms more comfy anyway. I've only ever liked wearing jeans apart from on 'thin' days. I don't have those right now

Frekkles, that's really exciting news, a proper home. You're bound to be a bit nervous, no-one really knows what it's like to live with someone until you do.

brettgirl2 · 27/02/2009 20:07

The leaflet Schulte says that you have to have applied by your due date, so if baby is early it wouldn't matter.

My MW didn't have form last time I went. I am hoping she will when I go on Tuesday.

BoffinMum · 27/02/2009 20:10

Info from Government website:

If your midwife or doctor does not have a claim form please call the Health in Pregnancy Grant Helpline on 0845 366 7885.

You can also get the claim form in large print by calling the Health in Pregnancy Grant Helpline on 0845 366 7885.

Can I suggest you order the large print version personally and get them to fill that in?

You then have 31 days to send it back, so get a move on!!

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 20:11

frekkles, everything will be fine - it's probably going to be difficult at first because moving in with someone new always is. You'll have to adjust to each other's annoying little habits that've gone unnoticed until now. But it'll also be great fun & make everything so much easier & you can start being a little family. It will be fine.

BB, I think there are 2 blue as well. I can't wait to find out Try jumping up & down to shake the baby out?

Schulte, I still don't have my HiP form. I'm hoping to get it on Tuesday, but I've been fobbed off for the last 3 MW appointments.

brettgirl, I certainly have thought of that - it's a great advantage to a disability - almost as good as a free boiler

& I'm the same with jeans - I've pretty much given up on mine (I bought some new, bigger ones a couple of weeks ago & they're fine whilst I'm standing up, but as soon as I bend... ) & now live in squishy trackie bottoms.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 27/02/2009 20:17

evening everyone! what a lot of messages already today! phew - can never keep up with it!

Had busy day today, so off to do a whole day's worth of washing up (3 meals worth!) as well as other tidying up.

Had a driving lesson this afternoon and have one again at 10:15 in the morning! I've got a driving test on Tuesday, so feeling bit stressed, as won't get another chance to take one before baby arrives. Attempted test for the first time about 12 days ago, but didn't pass it. boo hoo Didn't actually get very many faults, but enough to fail, which is what matters! Anyway, I'll have one second/final go at the test on Tuesday afternoon - and if I can't get it, then I'll put it all behind me & try to get on with more practical things that need to be done b4 baby arrives. Pity the UK doesn't accept US licenses! Guess we're just not up to standards here!

OK, better get dishes done before it's any later.

BabyBolat · 27/02/2009 20:18

Nothing fits me anymore - even my uggs feel tight with my big puffy pregnancy feet!! I will jump up and down tomorrow, dont want to put any extra pressure on these puppies just now!

I spend my working weeks in tights and one maternity dress and my too-tight mat jeans (that tend to dig in to my leg creases when I sit down or my old jeans that don't do up and weekends in big flowing smock dresses...

brettgirl2 · 27/02/2009 20:20

Rachel you have my full respect, my driving during pg has been atrocious . Good luck for Tuesday.

I will phone the number if the MW has no form on Tuesday. It's just like the government, making it as difficult as possible to claim what you are entitled to. It makes me very

BabyBolat · 27/02/2009 20:22

OOoh Rachel good luck! DH took 9 times to pass and he is a great driver now so don't worry about not passing on your first go!! well done on the washing up...

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 20:24

Gosh, is it only 20 past 8? It feels so much later. I just really snapped at DH for no good reason & now he's looking all sad & I feel guilty. & I will apologise in a minute, but all I can say is 'I'm sorry, I'm hormonal & tired', which stops sounding so sincere after the first million times

Good luck with the driving, Rachel - it sounds like you're in with a good chance of passing if you didn't get many faults last time & you've had some extra practice since

BoffinMum · 27/02/2009 20:27

DH has just come in and I can tell he is very overtired and grumpy.

I HATE it when he is like that.

Schulte · 27/02/2009 20:34

So does that mean most of you haven't had the HiP form either? I did phone the helpline twice today and they said if I had the baby early I'd have to make an appeal in order to get the money but they couldn't promise that it would be successful. Boff, I thought about asking for the large print form too and will try that on Monday. I just don't understand why they don't let you download the bloody thing off the internet since it's got to be signed by the MW anyway!?

SpringySunshine · 27/02/2009 20:35

Pffffft

BabyBolat · 27/02/2009 20:37

Oh dear, that's a shame about your DH - I also hate it when DH has those moods but then I am in one of those moods most of the time so can't really comment on his!! mine is currently shouting on Skype to his brothers!! Not sure we will have our name chat tonight!

It does feel much later springy, I am ready for bed!!!

Schulte · 27/02/2009 20:39

WHY IS MY DH TOO STUPID TO LOAD THE DISHWASHER? AAAAAARGH

BoffinMum · 27/02/2009 20:42

Schulte would you like me to use my telling-au-pair-off voice, because it has worked so well this end I have actually been pampered all week and the house is perfect.

frostyfrekkles · 27/02/2009 20:47
