Devil and Hackneybird - congrats on the scans

Flamesparrow - happy belated birthday

stacey - welcome, I can't begin to imagine what you have been through. wishing you all the best for this pg

Blarbie - so glad you are feeling a bit better, I had a similar bug last year and it was horrible but thankfully shortlived!

LittleMissBliss-we're not finding out the sex. Depending on the region, family say they just "know" it is a)a boy (say the in laws/Southport clan b) a girl (which my lot in Wales are 100% certain of.... I'll wait for the suprise

paranoidmummy-hello and welcome!

Treats - I've seen 3 different midwies so far, a student and experienced midwife(who had just come out of hospital for a 6m community placement) on my first appt, then someone completely different after my scan at hospital. The first 2 are trying to swing it so that they will be back in the hospital in Septembet/October so I should see a fmiliar face for the birth(at some point...)

CookieMonster - Something similar happened to me, was on my way to an important meeting at the uni in Preston after a week working at home and the button popped on my v strained suit trousers. I had to double back, one hand holding my case, the other holding up my trousers, and run into town and the nearest clothes shop!It was so embarrasing

Morning sickness moved to the evening but it means I am getting some sleep at last-have woken at 7am the last few days rather than 4am. It has done wonders for my energy, I think the bone crushing tiredness is lifting at last

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 30/03/2009 20:50

Gosh there are loads of us now. I'm struggling to keep up!

Feeling absolutely worn out again. Counting down the days to tell work. Really hard to make it to 5pm now as so worn out and the time change has not helped. I might go to bed in a bit.

I'm off food as well as a few of you. Just not feeling like eating this evening. If I eat loads in the morning the morning sickness goes off but feel rough and don't want to eat in the evening.

HappyTangerine and Treats - I had about 5 midwives last time but am not letting that happen this time. I told my doc I wanted to have a really good consistent midwife and he let me go to a midwife from another practice who has an excellent reputation. Have only had one appointment with her but pleased so far.

Sparklytwinkletoes · 30/03/2009 22:41

No time to do proper catch up (chatter boxes!) but welcome to newbies...

Just found this when I was surfing and thought I'd link as someone was asking about the need for gel with dopplers - bottom paragraph says def. yes... HTH

littlepea72 · 31/03/2009 05:24

Hi everyone this is moving at such a fast speed now!! Hope you are all well!!

Welcome to Paranoidmummy & Staceyk (god i cant get my head round what you must of went through Staceyk .

Sammysam, i know what you mean about the travel taking it out of you. After Friday, its taken me all this time to get over it. Dont think i will be doing any ammount of travel again for a while! Its not worth it.

Happy days with the scans Cazza & Devil....you feel like you can breath again when you see it!

Littlemissbliss, we found out the sex of our DS the last time, i didnt want to know, but my DH got there first! This time i want to find out again. Its so much easlier knowing. Plus im one of those people that need to know everything! Im nosey!!! lol....

Fidelma, poor you being sick in the garden! But sometimes it cant be helped. I cant believe that a hospital would make you pay £200 to get a Downs test! I thought every hospital did it for free! I suppose i would be in 2 minds about it, im 37 so im at a higher risk now, but if the wee one had downs, i wouldnt get rid of it, so i suppose for me i wouldnt get the test. What do you think you will do?

Treats, isnt it great that there are so many people who can give you poss feedback about your baby. I hope it puts your mind at rest a bit

Well im happy that im not the only one who still has trouble drinking....thank you Sammysam, HC & Dogstar. It makes me feel better & knowing that im not hurting the baby in anyway. We will struggle on [grin}

Just gotten a mothercare catalogue delivered! Hooray!! Now i can order new bra's....Cant work out the sizes here in Germany, and cant find anywhere that does maternity clothes, i am now a happy bunny! Sorry this has been such a long post, next time i wont leave it a couple of days! xx

fidelma · 31/03/2009 07:12

morning all I have just managed to avoid first MS of the day while catching up on the thread and eatting special K (easy to throw up afterwards.!!!)

where I live scotland we have a team of about 16 midwifes so I have seen someone different for all my 3 appointments so far !!!Chances are I wont know the one who will deliver the baby.

Easter holidays approaching I am not sure if I want the children off school or not.

Any way off to get them all up and feed the hens and get some yummy eggs for breakfast.

Have a good day. we are getting there, we will soon all be blooming. xxxx

rubyslippers · 31/03/2009 07:47

morning all - it is a busy thread

i am feeling more human now i have got to 13 weeks - had bad MS to contend with

i drank gallons of ginger ale which helped

am off to work soon - trying to avoid rush hour

We have a very small team of MW where I am - 5 for 1100 women (they are very good though). DS was delivered by a MW I hadn't met before so am expecting the same this time around

hope everyone is doing ok

littlepea72 · 31/03/2009 08:56

We have only 1 midwife who deals with 2 army camps, she only gets to this town once a week, so if you need her then you have to wait! Midwife will be different at the hospital which is German....its a bit pants!

LittleMissBliss · 31/03/2009 09:32

Good morning!

Littlepea Oh i'm so glad i'm not the only one finding out! I am very impressed with all that are leaving it to be a surprise. I'm really looking forward to my 20 week scan so that i can see the baby again and find out the sex, wish i could wait but i can't!

Halfbiscuit i'm very lucky that i'm not suffering from MS but i'm the same with my evening meal completely gone off dinner have no apetite. Really into lunch and breakfast though and i'll have a mid-day snack(or two).

Paranoidmummy welcome to the thread and congrats on your pregnancy!

Blarbie I keeep reading DB as dearbrother which keeps really throwing me, although i am sure that you mean dearboyfriend?

Ds is a little better this moring he had a temp of 39 after calpol last night so was a little worried but dp got some nurofen on the way home from work which did the trick. Another pants night sleep but we had a lay in this morning. Poor ds is really struggling to keep his meals down and i'm reluctant to give him too much milk as the dairy isn't the best thing for phlem. Looks like another day in today.

Hope you all have a lovely day today! looks like the sun has gone in hiding today in Dorset.

LittleMissBliss · 31/03/2009 09:35

LOl just read my last 3 lines, today, today, today can you tell i'm a little on the tired side...?

HumphreysCorner · 31/03/2009 09:38

Morning ladies

Wasn't sick this morning-yay!!!!!

Welcome and congrats to paranoidmummy-I am due 29th September but am always early so looking at approx 25th.

DevilsAdvocaat-great scan pic. Isn't it funny how they all lay a different way, mine is the mirror image of yours.

We have one MW in the local surgery and 4 teams at the hospital. Every time I am put under the care of the Jasmine team but every time I have a baby they are understaffed and I end up on another team. An ex boyfriend's sister delivered DD2, she was 14 when I last saw her and I was horrible to her brother but luckily she was really nice to me and I was able to help her become qualified as she only needed one more delivery. DD1 was delivered by one of my customers from the Bank I worked in at the time. You really don't need to be an embarrassed type of person do you.

Have just forced a cup of soda water down, have taken to drinking it out of a plastic party cup with animals on to make it more bearable.

We need a new thread soon so any ideas?

Must go and do some cleaning.

Big wave!

Morning everyone! No chance of me being able to keep up with all the names etc on here now I'm bad with names etc normally but my brain has really taken a battering with this pg!!!

Welcome paranoidmummy-and congrats! I'm due the 27th sep, dd was a week late so who knows with this one

Feeling very dehydrated this morning-didn't drink anything really yesterday-my head is throbbing so really gonna have to try hard today.
Am still so so tired after the weekend-has made my ms so much worse again-hence my dehydration plus dd had a nightmare last night so had very disturbed sleep from 3-that hasn't helped.
Have zero energy today.

Hope everyone is good today, good luck with any scans and congrats for the scans yesterday!

LittleMissBliss · 31/03/2009 10:50

Hc woohoo on non-sickness!!

Sammysam hope you feel a little better today and manage to keep some liquid down!

new thread title,

maybe something allong the lines of

'Due October 2009 -secound trimester here we come, spring has sprung and our bumps are blooming'?

HumphreysCorner · 31/03/2009 10:58

Morning, just wanted o wish everyone good luck for scans today. Sammysam, Fidelma and anyone else who is feeling rough-hope things pick up for you soon

Think I overdid it yesterday as was doubled up with v bad cramping last night. No bleeding thank God. MW thinks its probably just stretching/round ligament pains but gave me a right telling off when we went through what I did yesterday. Am on strict instructions to rest for the next 3 days, ironic when I've now got bags of energy.

Have a good day everyone

idreamofbeanie · 31/03/2009 11:21

Oh I like that new thread title. Sorry I haven't been on much - I've been reading the thread but its moving so fast that by the time I get to the end I've forgotten most of it and can't remember what I wanted to say .

Well Its a week since I had my scan (pics on profile page if you want a quick look) and I still can't get the dopey grin off my face. I really hadn't believed I was pregnant (despite 3 tests) until I saw the bean jumping around. I'm so excited now and I have started looking at prams, cots etc and thinking about names.

We are definitely planning on finding out the sex at the 20 week scan. I don't really have a preference but for some reason I think its going to be a boy. I don't know why I am so sure I want to know, probably a mix of impatience and looking forward to buying some little clothes in colours other than white and that horrible beige most shops do (not that I am a huge fan of pink or baby blue either). I know there are other neutral colours but so much of the baby stuff seems to be def for a boy or a girl IYKWIM.

Good luck to anyone with scans in the next day or two and I hope those of you who are still suffering with ms feel better soon!

lixanismapolium · 31/03/2009 12:22

Great scan this morning and downs risk was only 1:825 even though I'm getting on in life!!!! It was so good to see a little person bouncing around in there, I nealy burst into tears with relief.

Cazza28 · 31/03/2009 12:33

Hi All!

Great name littlemiss Sorry to those of you who are still feeling ill! Fingers crossed it should go in a week or so!

Excellent scan yesterday afternoon little thing was really lively - downs risk was 1:20468 so pretty happy with that! The risk of other defects was 1:165000(ish) so hopefully all should be well! Will try and post a picture in a mo!! I can't get the grin off my face, is was worth going through 12 weeks to get this feeling.

13 + 1 today.

HappyTangerine · 31/03/2009 12:42

Cazza and lixanismapolium- many congratulations on those scans! Bet you won't be able to stop looking at those scan pictures-I know I can't! x

Hi all, not much to report, just marking my place! Also trying to put a bump photo on my profile but the computer is not cooperating

Sparklytwinkletoes · 31/03/2009 15:18

Hi all, had my scan this morning and it was lovely... mainly because I thought from my earlier scan that I would be 12+1 today but I'm actually 13 weeks exactly today and my EDD has been brought forward from 12/10 to 06/10!

NT measurements weren't given to me but they said they were fine, bloods have been taken to be sent off too and I should hear back within the next two weeks.

Sadly, when we were called by the sonographer to go through for the scan, I was holding my notes folder - and she was puzzled - because she was too - then I realised what had happened, she had the notes from my miscarriage . She asked if I wanted them and I said no, she said she'd arrange for them to be shredded which I think is def. appropriate.

After the scan, I had another short wait before going for bloods, then another wait to meet a midwife to discuss the reasons for being under consultant led care - she was really lovely, and gave me loads of time to talk about all the things that upset me about pregnancy and mostly, labour, last time around. She went through some of the notes and has marked up some points for discussion with the consultant when I meet her in a few weeks. She's promised me it will be better this time - which I won't take literally, I'll just believe that she will try and make it better for me, which is good enough.

A good day all in all , and a huge relief too.

HumphreysCorner · 31/03/2009 17:22

Sparkly-that sounds like great news. Hope it works as well as they hope.

Hi all

Welcome to newbies.

treats what a shock. Best of luck.

lixan can I ask how old you are? Does anyone else in their late thirties/early forties have "numbers" that they don't mind sharing?

Last time I went from 1:280 before screening to 1:2600 with the screening. But was given very clear instructions from the sonographer on Monday that then I was under the magic 35 and so my numbers were likely to be rather different now - she made me feel like I should be claiming my pension!

So what happens on your 35th birthday then!!! The risks can't be that discretised - surely they can come up with a better system.

Sorry I'm being selfish, LO has arms, legs and a heartbeat. So I guess news is good "so far".

I much preferred it last time when I had my numbers straight away. This combined test means another 10 days frustrating wait until the bloods are returned. Meanwhile I'm bursting out of my work trousers and so have bitten the bullet and told everyone at work that no I'm not having a boob job but rather that it's hormones and that "hopefully" the clan will expand by one in the Autumn. The office is too hot for baggy jumpers and I need to be comfortable if I'm going to be productive. So I've now resorted to maternity trousers with a bump band to help hold them up!

DS came with us to the scan. He was rivetted. It was a really special moment when at the top of his voice he shouted "mummy you've got a baby in your tummy". He's 2 yrs 4 months and I didn't think that he'd get it! I was wrong. He proceeded to state that he didn't want a little brother or sister to which DH mumbled under his breath "it's a bit late for that and I'm afraid that you didn't get a vote!"

I'm sure that he'll get used to it.

At least it isn't twins!

Sorry waffly ranting blurb. Couldn't get on line until now as I've had major deadlines. There are sooooo many posts.

Like the new suggested title by the way.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 31/03/2009 18:09

Ohh lots of exciting stuff going on with all these scans and numbers. I am ahem 35 (was 33 last time) so will be interested to see what numbers I get. Do you get them at the first scan?

I bit the bullet today and told my boss I am pg. Was scary but fine. He took me out to lunch to celebrate. Turned out they'd been thinking I was pg for a while because a) my clothes had got tight and b) I've been eating loads.

Only 1 week to go for my scan...

littlepea72 · 31/03/2009 18:23

Great news on all the scans!!! Hooray!!!!

Im 37, 32 when i had DS......feeling the difference lol.....
