Morning all! i went to newlook yesterday and got some maternity clothes, wonderful that i not have something to wear without having to battle with safety pins etc!
I have also brought a fetal doppler from ebay, but there is no gel, an i right in thinking that i need the gel???

Hope everyone has a good day today, sunny here at the moment so hope it stays for the day

rubyslippers · 30/03/2009 09:07

flame - sorry your birthday was a bit rubbish
blarbie - did you manage to speak to your MW? With sickness, the baby will take what it needs first so you are likely to feel worse (i think a PP said it too)
Ballio - don't know about the doppler ...

sure i have forgotten loads of personals. I also ended up in New Look and got a few bits. Thought the choice was fairly limited - may have to buy online

LittleMissBliss · 30/03/2009 09:15

If anyone else is planning to go to newlook for Maternity wear. Look magazine (£1.50) has a free newlook magazine inside with a 20% voucher at the back, which lasts untill 12th of April. I think today will be the last day to buy it as weekly magazines usually come out on Tuesday morning. Hope that helps I think i'll pop to newlook this week as i have seen some nice bits online.

Flamesparrow · 30/03/2009 09:46

I am at that stage of my jeans are ok if I have the button undone, but starting to get tight (lost so much weight I am in my smaller jeans so they fit on the bum ), but not big enough to be able to get maternity trousers to fit properly yet.

Going to go shopping in a few weeks I think with brithday money

Staceyk · 30/03/2009 09:55

Hi ladies can I join in please.
Due 6th Oct, 12+6 today.
with #3. DS1 4 yrs, and sadly we lost DS2 last year age 4 months to cot death, so this is going to be one hell on an emtional pregnancy, birth, and there after

HumphreysCorner · 30/03/2009 10:32

Hello and welcome StaceyK. How terribly, terribly sad to lose a baby through cot death.

Am 14 weeks tomorrow and MS seems to have returned with a vengeance-yuk!

Are NewLook doing maternity clothes? Our local NewLook has bought the now defunct Woolies shop which must be 10 times the size of their shop so maybe they might start selling maternity clothes but it probably won't be ready for months. Mothercare is the only shop in town that has a small supply of clothes.

Blarbie-sounds nasty, glad you feel a tad better.

Flame-aw, definitely celebrate again next weekend.

Cazza-good luck with the scan and telling work.

ballio-if you have a fetal doppler that looks like the one the MW uses then you need gel which you can buy on Ebay. They work on the same principle as the ultrasound scans. Last pregancy I bought a crappy monitor thing with headphones which just echoed the sounds it picked up so that didn't need gel and I never heard a thing.

LittleMissBliss-sorry DS is so poorly.

littlepea-please don't worry about dehydration. Being so sick for so long I still can't drink much soda water. Even when I went for my scan I couldn't get a full bladder because I couldn't drink anything.

sammysam-I would give this afternoon a miss as doing to much tends to make the sickness worse.

Any more scans today? Take care everyone. Big wave!

Morning All. Welcome StaceyK - lots of us have had miscarriages, but I can't even start to imagine what you have been through. Really really hope all is well for you with this pregnancy.

Got my scan tomorrow morning and already starting to feel shaky!! Do I have any scan budies out there for tomorrow?

Good luck to anyone who has one today.

Blarbie · 30/03/2009 11:24

Fingers crossed Treats!
My nephew has a thing called Prune Belly Syndrome where he has no stomach wall. He had to stay in hospital a long while which was hard for my sister.Still has to go to hospital for urine infections and had a lot of operations when small but he's 4 now and very funny! His chances were never as good as 90%.

LittleMissBliss · 30/03/2009 11:57

Just come back from the dr's. Ds is ok just an infection that should clear up on its own in a week or two. The bottom of his chest is clear so that's a good sign. Hoping for a better nights sleep tonight.

Sammysam I feel the same today the weathers lovely but i'm so tired and can't be bothered to do much. Will let ds play in the garden after his nap as the fressh air should loosen up his chest.

StaceyK so sorry to hear about your ds i can't even imagine going through the loss of a child. Congratulations on your pregnancy.

HC When you mentioned amnio earlier in the thread i wasn't sure what it was so had to google it. I remember reading that it could also determine the sex of the baby. How exciting, you will be finding out 4-8 weeks earlier than most of us!

Just wondering anyone be choosing not to find out and leaving it to be a surprise?
I will have to find out because i love to prepare beforehand, clothes, names, etc!

flamesparrow I ment happy birthday for the weekend just gone. oops.

rubyslippers · 30/03/2009 13:08

stacy - so sorry to hear of your news ...

littlemissbliss - we aren't finding the sex out - we didn't with DS and it was really lovely. Hope your DS is better soon

fidelma · 30/03/2009 14:04

(littlepea) I would get the Dr to see how dehydrated you are. With my first 2 pregnancys (girls )I had to go to hospital to get rehydrated.I was very relieved to get there once I got over the shock of being admitted. The good news is that once I was rehydrated I felt much much better.I am suffering with bad MS all the time but not as bad as you. it is so awful.I really feel for you.Mine usually eases at 16 weeks and is gone by 20 weeks so we are getting there.
(treats )sad to hear your news but I have heard of babies having the op with great outcomes.Try not to worry tooooooo much.Well done for supporting your sister.Fingers crossed for the scan.x
I have throwen up in the garden twice this morning while getting the children to school.I am feeling exhausted and a little fed up.However my scan on Friday was great and all seemed well although they dont do the downs test.I have a private one booked to do it at a cost of £200 do you think that I should have it or wait until 18 weeks for the blood test and amnio if needed?

Blarbie · 30/03/2009 14:22

Hey LMB, we're not finding out, although I really want a boy as already have a girl, I'm preparing myself and db for another girl though - he says he'll leave if it's a girl!! Don't worry, he won't really.
Fid- I'm not getting a Downs test as I don't know what I'd do either way, actually I do, I'd keep it, just be more prepared? I don't know. Do what you think is best for you.
Thanks for advice that the baby is zapping me of all nutrients in my body meaning it's fine while I feel like pants after Friday's puke fest - think it was a bug now as DB got it yesterday. I still don't feel like eating, but am drinking plenty. Just want to sleep!!!

DevilsAdvocaat · 30/03/2009 15:16

treats sorry to hear your news but just focus on the next scan now and go from there.

sugarkane i also have been having sweet dreams!

staceyk i'm so sorry for your loss. we're here for you on this thread anytime. welcome!

hope stroopwafel is feeling better!

i had my scan today
little monkey was facing the wrong way so they kept sending me for a walk and to jump about! 3rd time lucky and i got some pics. hooray. results in 7-10 days. my sister came with me as dh had to work but he'll be coming to the 20 week one instead. i can't believe it, there's actually a baby there

will try to post pics later.

HumphreysCorner · 30/03/2009 15:28

Hello everyone

Treats, sorry to hear you are having such a worrying time. I have a friend who had the same experience at the 12 week scan but went back at 14 weeks and everything was fine, baby was born happy and healthy. Fingers crossed the same happens to you.

Having a bit of a nightmare today. Worked at home last week so spent the week in jeans and pj's. Got up at 4am this morning to catch an early flight, and found that in the space of a week none of my work trousers seem to do up comfortably any more. Gaaah! Traumatic at the best of times but at 4am I was not amused. Nightmare. Haven't been able to eat all day for fear of bursting out.

Can't wait to get home...

DevilsAdvocaat · 30/03/2009 16:06

hc yes she did which was pretty horrible with needing a wee! she said the baby still wasn't moving enough, although i saw the baby moving his/her arms around in response

after walking around the second time the baby had moved but still not in the best position, luckily she managed to get the measurement done.

also, when we were wondering around, we went into the hospital shop and i found a little baby version of my son's cat comforter! so i bought it for him as i thought it was quite appropriate in the circumstances. he's been wondering around with daddy and baby cat all day making crying noises, so at least he's preparing himself for the future

sammysam · 30/03/2009 16:32

staceyk- I can't even begin toimagine what you have been through. Congratulations on this pregnancy and lets hope it is very smooth with a very healthy baby at the end

Congrats to all the scans!

I don't think we'll find out-don't want to spoil the surprise! We didn't find out with dd, but dp thinks he'd like to this time. In a way i'd like to but I wouldn't want anyone else to know and know that that is VERY unlikely to happen

Littlemiss-I hope ds gets better soon. I feel so rough-can't seem to move from the sofa!

Cookiemonster-what a nightmare-that would have set me off especially at that time in the morning!!! Het ye to the shops to get some comfy trousers!!

Treats · 30/03/2009 16:33

Hi everyone

Had my first midwife appt today - fairly routine - just filled in all the forms and had a blood and urine test. Midwife was quite brisk, but she won't be doing my next appointment, and the midwives that do the appointments aren't the same people who assist at deliveries. Which I suppose means I'll get someone different each time . What's everyone else getting?

We talked briefly about the gastroschisis, but agreed that we can't do anything until the follow up scan next Thursday. But she did make me an appointment with the obstetrician so that if they confirm the diagnosis, I've got the next step already planned. I can always cancel the appointment if the gastroschisis turns out to be a false alarm.

Pleased to hear that everyone's MS seems to be clearing up a bit.

Glad you had a good scan DevilsAdvocaat - I had the same issue with baby not being in the right place to scan.

dogstar · 30/03/2009 16:43

hello everyone

welcome to stacey, so so sorry about your loss, this must be a very poignant and emotional time for you.

Littlepea - I am constantly thirsty - I mentioned it to MW - actually I told her I suspected I have gestational diabetes - neurotic - - she said something about the blood having to work hard - what? - and body making lots of fluid causing thirst. ermm...so I just keep at the squash and dehydrate at night...

I am feeling quite grumpy at the moment, quite down, and a bit petulant... anyone else?

well done on the scans y'all, treats hope you can keep busy and not worry too much. I'm sure your baby will be okay whichever way it goes

DevilsAdvocaat · 30/03/2009 16:46

scan pic up on profile, don't have a scanner set up so i took a pic with my phone but it's not too bad quality-wise.

paranoidmummy · 30/03/2009 17:33

Does anyone mind if I impose here? My EDD is actually 25th Sept but my 2 previous babies were nearly 2 wks late so I'm not kidding anyone being on the sept thread!
I have ds1 (5 - nov 2003) and ds2 (11 months april 2008). ds2 is profoundly deaf and we had a 1 in 4 chance of this little one having the same gene so opted for a cvs this time. This baby is all clear and we found out its a little girl
Oh I'm 26 and live in essex. That's my blind date bit over with . I hope you'll accept me even tho I have intruded from September

hackneybird · 30/03/2009 17:37

Hi all

Stacey congratulations and welcome. So incredibly sorry to hear about the loss of your child. Keeping everything triple crossed for you.

Treats, thinking of you. Really thoughtful of you not to tell your sister. Although treatment does sound extremely positive.

Just popping in to report another happy scan- all present and correct. After an mmc last year, I was exceptionally scared and nervous. It was wonderful to see the heartbeat, and little one's legs kicking around! The sonographer said she could see the nasal bone, which downs babies don't usually have, so that's a good sign. DH and I were joking that the baby has inherited his large nose

I don't get downs risk results for another two weeks, but report says it's 1.10 mm. I have no idea what this means though.

hackneybird · 30/03/2009 17:40

BTW wanted to say that my EDD is now 15th oct - have lost a few days but never mind.

devil congrats on your scan too! xx

theboob · 30/03/2009 17:54

welcome paranoidmummy , i'm due the 28th of sept and will be induced 2 weeks early and i'm sticking around......they are a good bunch here you will love it
