Actually, just typed my message and the itchy feet/palms bit.

Didn't someone else on here have itchy palms & feet recently - wasn't Willmouse was it ?

Will try and search ......

MrsPuddleduck · 01/04/2009 13:53

ICab'tbeliveitsnotbitter - I am from Stafford - I have been told it is doing the rounds here too. It is slightly more worrying for me as I am a childminder so could catch it from one of five children (two of them my own).

I have had absolutely no symptoms so will keep my fingers crossed over the weekend while we are away and perhaps phone the GP next week.

Treats · 01/04/2009 14:40

Sammysam - so sorry that you've got this worry and hope everything turns out well. I don't want to add to the chorus of 'try not to worry' because it's just annoying and not helpful. Thinking of you.

Have to say I'd never heard of the virus before I came on this board. Am resisting the temptation to google it because I'm sure I will then be convinced that I've got it, and start worrying...... .

littlepea at your MRSA tale. We're all going to start worrying about every infection we've ever had......

rubyslippers - I itch EVERYWHERE! I'm finding that body oil is quite helpful, but it's driving me mad.

Kleinemaus - how sad that they don't tell you the sex. I think DH and I have decided that we don't want to know anyway (I bet we change our minds on the day!) but I would hate not to have the choice. How mean!

HC - good luck with the amnio. Tough decision to make but I'm sure it's the right thing for you.

hi to everyone else. I seem to be having reverse symptoms. Having sailed through the first trimester with no sickness, fatigue or anything, I'm finding it really hard to eat now, and the faintest whiff of anything unsavoury is making me feel ill. Guess it's high time I had my turn.......

Flamesparrow · 01/04/2009 14:49

waves frantically to Rubyslippers I am only "out" on this thread, sooooooooooo wanted to say something on yours last night

Sammysam @ testing positive Will be thinking of you.

I've forgotten everything else

My ribs hurt, still not taken a bump photo oh and getting very impatient waiting for my scan!

fidelma · 01/04/2009 15:21

My hospital also wont tell you what sex the baby is and no downs test!!!we must be living in the dark ages up here in scotland.

Still feeling very sick I fought it all last night and wasnt sick but had a rubbish nights sleep as a result.I should of let myself be sick but its not that easy.

Also cant stand the smell of myself despite 2 showers per day.Luckly no one eles finds it a problem.

What is the title of the new thread I cant find it?

have a good evening xxx

HappyTangerine · 01/04/2009 15:44

Just a quick one as I have been sick on and off all day today, started at 7am. Not sure if its a bug but feel like hell, the retching hurts so much I've been sitting here sobbing for the past hour. Feels like I'm rubbish at being pg.Sorry for self pity.

I've gone right off food this week and have to force myself to eat toast at 8am ish then soup at 7pm-it's not a problem for the baby is it? I'm drinking usual amount of water and milk and taking the folic acid/pre-natal vitamins

SammySam - so sorry to hear that you tested positive, thank God you went with your instincts. Hope things turn out ok, so glad you got to hear that hb.

Willmouse- congrats on the scan!

Good luck to anyone waiting on test results. Patmum, I'm 35 and opted not to have the bloods as I wasn't going to go forward with the amnio/cvs but I was a bit suprised at how the much rthe numbers change after the magic 35 as well.

rubyslippers · 01/04/2009 15:59

i thought so flame which is why I didn't reciprocate in kind

glad to hear i am not the only itchy one ... have tried all sorts but not body oil yet

HumphreysCorner · 01/04/2009 17:52

This is the idea from LittleMissBliss for the new thread.

'Due October 2009 -secound trimester here we come, spring has sprung and our bumps are blooming'

This slapped cheek thing sounds horrendous-I have never come across it. Hope all involved are OK.

Willmouse-excellent scan news.

HappyTangerine-sorry to hear you have been so sick. I suspect it may be a bug rather than MS. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

I have had really itchy legs right from when I got a BFP and can sometimes draw blood with my scratching. Drives DH mad. I am taking a trip over to Hull to see if their Next has a maternity section and I know the Mothercare there is mahoosive and there is a BabiesRUs so I can check out prams.

Big wave to all!

lixan thanks for that I, too, am 37 and seeing other's numbers does help. The starting point of 1:155 is higher than I thought it would be.

After some bullying the sonographer told me that the measurement was 2.1mm so I'm not up at the 2.5 "concerning" boundary. I wish I'd asked about the nasal bone but I totally forgot. It will be interesting to see where my numbers come. However, if I was anywhere near your eight hundred type number I think I'd probably go with that!

There's always amnio.

Meant to say the other day for anyone who still has a scan to come, the midwife told me to take something really sweet into the scan with me so that if the baby was static and in the wrong position you could have a quick sugar rush and it may well wake up and move. However, don't take it before the scan as it may be doing somersaults which is also not helpful for measuring!

I only heard of slapped cheek last autumn when there were notes on the door at DS nursery (we're in West Sussex). I hadn't realised that it was something to watch out for in pregnancy so thanks all for the warning.

sammysam at least you know now. Good for you sticking to your guns and getting the test done. Best of luck going forwards.

patmum · 01/04/2009 18:09

p.s. has anyone found any bump bands that are not black or white?

Last time I was pregnant, M&S did a maternity range and I got a brown one.

Treats · 01/04/2009 19:39

Ooh HC - you've reminded me. Was going to ask those who are already mums where the best place is to go shopping for prams. Don't think DH and I will start looking just yet, but I know that it's going to be a major purchase and that he will want to test drive every single model he can get his hands on. Don't feel like it should be an online purchase somehow - or at least, not unless I've tried it in RL. I was thinking about BabiesRUs, but is there anywhere else?

Ta.

HumphreysCorner · 01/04/2009 20:32

Treats-we have a local specialised shop where we bought our first (huge) pram which has done 2 babies. I need a new pram as I can't possibly wheel that huge thing into the playground-street cred and all that. It is quite damaged anyway. We popped into our shop and spotted this one in the sale. I am hoping to find something else slightly cheaper in either Mothercare or BabiesRUs as it only needs to last for this baby. Will only be buying after the amnio and after I receive this health grant payment.

Treats we got ours almost 5 years ago in babies r us...its all ready to go again. Just need a new raincover. My sil just got one out of mamas&papas which is also nice, but really pricey.

LittleMissBliss · 01/04/2009 20:53

Evening all,
I have gone ahead and created another new thread here
Hope no one minds, we will only be able to fit a few more posts on this one!

Just going to catch up and then i will post properly.

LittleMissBliss · 01/04/2009 21:13

Happy So sorry that you are feeling so cruddy.

Treats I would reconmend trying prams in shops but buying online. I deperately wanted a quinny buzz travel system last time, which would have cost £700 or so from mothercare or another baby store. I managed to get it online for £500 and it arrived the next day free delivery. Online shops not to trust are twoleftfeet and baby247.

This time i will be using the travel system again as i loved the quinny with carry cot attachment, like a propper pram! Also the car seat can be used again, but will be also gettting a tandem online. But will no way be spending silly money again, i think it was a bit of PFB syndrome

sammysam So sorry to hear that you are so worried. I would def complain to the dr. Or at least bring to his attention what he has missed.

stroopwafel · 01/04/2009 22:18

Just lost what I was writing... aargh!

Sammysam... how awful that they just dont seem to be pulling their finger out - even doing something to reassure you would be a start! Seems there is alot of it around.. I had heard of one case over here in Holland.

HC I had a pliko first time round for ds.. found it 2nd hand on ebay (was in really good condition!) and have been more than happy with it. Nice and compact and good for little lo's as well as toddlers. We still go up the woods with it if ds can bear to sit in a pram! It has been to the woods most days over the last 2 and a half years mind, so might upgrade to something else for this one.

I'm also having a mare about tests and getting myself in a tizz about it. I wont get the results of the combination test before the window of the CVS is over, and just not sure if an amnio is the best way as if there are problems, then you have to deliver right? Im 37 (will be 38 in August) so these tests are covered here, but as you say patmum its a numbers game. I was so naive last time.. well maybe blissfully ignorant.. and 35.

Great news on all those scans so far and popping out bellies! Its really obvious that Im preggers too, so have started telling people I know really well, even though Im only 10 weeks. I know most keep it to themselves until they know all is good, but if there are problems, better these friends know - for me anyway. Seems its not the done thing though... will I regret it?

Oh and (yes more about me...!) It has been a really mixed day for me.. I signed the mortgage and got the keys on my first ever house this morning (and blubbed when the old dear shook my hand and wished my luck in her old house), and had a dutch exams this evening that made me think why do I bother! Sure to have failed with this pregnancy brain going on!

Good luck for all those with scans this week!

KleineMaus · 01/04/2009 22:44

Fidelma whereabouts in Scotland are you? I'm in Aberdeenshire. I'm assuming the reason they aren't willing to tell you the sex here is because of fear of being sued if they're wrong. It's yet another one of the random 'postcode lotteries' (although I don't really like that phrase). In Glasgow where I was when I had ds there were no anomaly scans(!). Thankfully where I am now they're standard.
