HappyTangerine · 23/03/2009 19:52

Any thoughts, anyone, on my earlier question? (How much do I need to drink for a full bladder?)

KKKKaty · 23/03/2009 20:05

Happy Tangerine - the notes I got with my scan letter say to empty your bladder and then drink 1 1/2 pints of clear fluid an hour before the scan. HTH.

My scan is on Thursday afternoon this week - I'm not sure how I feel - more looking forward to it than anxious at the moment, hope that doesn't change! Was feeling very anxious a while ago but am feeling a lot more positive now since I am feeling more "pregnant" as time goes by, even though I've had no sickness and have no bump yet!

LittleMissBliss · 23/03/2009 20:08

sammysam www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childrens_health/726618-Can-Slapped-Cheeks-cause-vomiting-diarrhoea saw this thread and thought it may help find out about your dd. Hope it helps. Any news from docs?

HumphreysCorner · 23/03/2009 20:35

doggus-we live near Grimsby and Cleethorpes.

BellaCullen-brill scan news.

Good luck to those with scans this week and congrats to those who've had them. Had mine last week and was dated as 12 + 2, putting me a couple of days ahead of what I thought. Boo at the the sonographer lady telling me I couldn't possibly be feeling the baby moving yet as since then I haven't felt it, and I was finding it really reassuring (whether it was actually the baby or not). I did have a ligament go twang this morning though - yuk!

Looking for some advice on telling ds. He's only 2.5 and it seems so far away that I haven't told him yet, but of course now I've told everyone else and I'm worried he'll pick up on us talking about it and be worried. Have others told their other kids?

sammysam · 23/03/2009 20:46

Thanks for the link littlemiss. Told dp of my plan and he has worried me by saying that if I say I have definately been in contact with someone who has had it (when I haven't-well not for certain) then it will cause lots of stress etc when it may be unneccessary. So think i'll ring anyway and say that I 'think' I have been in contact with someone and that I'm worried. That is the exact situation. Plus early in that week I did have a day and a half aching all over but put it down to the excessive walking we had done at the weekend-now I'm wandering though.

Congrats on the scans!

Cazza I grew up in Farnham-my sis still lives there and my dad lives in Godalming-we are going to see them at the weekend! I miss it round there!

I know there was more I wanted to say but really need sleep now-dd dragged me downstairs at 6 for breakfast-dp came down over 2 hours later-its ME that needs the sleep!!

doggus · 23/03/2009 20:50

HC - hope your headache goes. My nearest seaside resort as a kid was Cleethorpes, I LOVED going there, such a treat (until I nearly died, my dad was watching the wrong child and we ended up cut off by the tide stranded on a sandbank and had to be rescued ). I miss Lincolnshire.

kleinemaus - my ds is 21 months and we haven't told him but I don't think he'll understand the concept at all! I will have to wait until he is 2 at least.

idreamofbeanie · 23/03/2009 21:24

Hi all,

I had my scan this morning but dashed up to tell the in-laws (my parents already knew) so no chance to post until now. For some reason I had been really anxious about the scan but it was brilliant. Beanie was jumping about all over the place and we got some lovely pics. I almost cried when she pointed out the heartbeat. It made it so real for DP and I and it was great to start letting everyone know. LO is measuring 12+6 which is just a couple of days ahead of what I thought.

Good luck to everyone with scans this week!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 23/03/2009 21:31

Hi, sorry not been on here for a while. Haven't had anything through about a scan yet but have got an appointment with a consultant in June??? Doesn't say why? May be because I had a c section last time? Any ideas anyone?

Have been feeling pretty knackered especially in the afternoons. Verging from starving to feeling sick and having strong cravings for tangy fruit.

Am 10 weeks today. Counting down the weeks so I can tell more people so won't feel so guilty that being a bit wierd at work and really want to tell my sister. Had a MC last yr so best to wait...

When will my first scan be??? Haven't had anything through the post yet?

MeHimCatBlob · 23/03/2009 21:40

Hi all

firstly thanks for the comments about triple tests etc. My scan isnt till 23 April when I get back from my hols and I was told to drink 2 pints 1 hour before! My MW also said you only have to take folic for the 1st trimester if that helps.

glad to hear so much good news over the last week and I am so pleased for all your scans etc. (mine still seems to far off although I'm 9+4).

anyone else from the NW - feeling like the token northern here at the mo

Congrtulations for yesterdays scan results!
And good luck for todays ladies!

Flamesparrow · 24/03/2009 07:52

Good luck LittlePea

Yay for all the good scans and heartbeats. I'm intrigued to see what they date me as. I have a varying length cycle, conception was at 7 days (was the only time it could have happened as I was still recovering from car accident and I knew I had a "window" to conceive so got dosed up on painkillers ), DD didn't show up right for her dates, so am telling everyone "mid october" and then just going with whatever date they tell me My mum says half term would be much more helpful for her to have the other 2.

Biscuit - yup would say it is because of the c-section.

twinklegreen · 24/03/2009 08:09

Hi flamesparrow that sounds like something my mum would say! Although I did have both my previous children in October half term (21st and 23rd) This one will definately be here before then (I hope!!) as I'm due in September!

Flamesparrow · 24/03/2009 08:10

She works in a school so tis easier. DD was born on a bank holiday, DS was Feb half term, and my wedding was even arrange to fit in with half term

sammysam · 24/03/2009 08:49

Just got off the phone from lovely doc-she said she will check with the lab to see if they can use my blood from last week to check immunity or I'll go and have another blood test and then take it from there.

Wow she is good-just phoned back and they can use the blood they already have! The results take 2 weeks so i'll just have to wait and see.......
Hopefully everything will be ok.....
Just had a bit of worry-do you think this will effect me being able to go on holiday? Obv. if anything shows up. Should I try and sort out insurance now do you think? Bugger should have done that before ringing I suppose off to investigate..

KKKKaty · 24/03/2009 09:31

Twinklegreen - I'm in North Yorkshire! Well, York to be precise. That's two of us in NE!

hackneybird · 24/03/2009 09:37

Hullo all, just popping in to say hi. I am back from a week away skiing (booked before we found out I was PG, obviously I took it VERY easy and seem to have come back in one piece). They still smoke in bars in Austria though, so I avoided all the apres ski action. Have to admit I did miss a glass of wine or a cold beer of an evening.

Been spending aaages catching up with everyone's news.

Cookie, Doggus, Beanie, Bella, Kleine and Ballio - very pleased to hear good news about your scans (apols if I have missed anyone).

Dogstar and Sparkly -lucky you at hearing the heartbeat!

My Dr told me to take folic acid until the end of the fourth month, so that is what I will do.

Good luck to everyone with forthcoming scans - mine isn't until next Monday so I am feeling VERY impatient. Feeling good though - if feeling sick and tired can be classed as good! As they indicate pregnancy symptoms I suppose I welcome them, although I long to feel normal again, and for some reason I am always cold.

xx

MrsPuddleduck · 24/03/2009 10:08

Morning all

Congratulations on all the fantastic scan results - I hope they continue!

Hackneybird - my scan isn't until next Tuesday and it feels like an eternity.

Kleinmouse - I wont tell either of mine (3 and 5) until after my scan next Tuesday - we are having to talk in code although my five year old did say last night "Mummy will you have another baby?" which was pretty spooky. Presumably he will be pleased then!

I feel better now again ms wise. It has taken nearly two days to recover from having Sunday lunch. I wont be doing that again!

Actually we are going away the first weekend of Easter to stay with family so I may not have a choice. I am dreading the journey (about 3 hours) I still feel nauseaus in the car when I am not pregnant so I am not sure how I will cope. Actually I may get some of those seaband thingys to wear. Does anyone kmow if they work?

Sugarkane · 24/03/2009 10:35

Yaay congrats to everyone who has had a scan. I havent been on here for a while as I have been so worried about my scan, which is tomorrow, so fingers crossed. Although one good thing is I will be able to get rid of the bloody ? next to my date and will know when im due. If anyone would like to join in with my mother and MIL guessing then please do , im going with 9 weeks but secretly wishing im a lot further haha.

I had to take folic acid all through my last preg as I kept getting low readings but I was advised that you normally take it until 13 weeks, seems most people are told the same give or take a week or so.

I have been in central Scotland for about 2 years but I am originally from the Stafford area.

CookieMonster1 · 24/03/2009 11:02

Good luck to everyone with scans today - am thinking of you all and can't wait to hear how they went.
