good luck at your scan today bella, and fingers crossed your MS has gone too

fidelma · 23/03/2009 09:23

Hi all
great to hear that so many of you are feeling better.I still feel gastly when will it end ? 12 weeks this Friday and scan although I dont think they do the downs test how mad!How do you add to the due date list?Have a good day lol x

MrsPuddleduck · 23/03/2009 09:27

Morning all

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend.

Good luck to all those having a scan this week. Mine is next Tuesday so just over a week to wait now. It seems like forever!

MS is alot better here now at 10 weeks. I did have a bad day yesterday though which I put down to eating Sunday lunch at lunchtime and putting my blood sugars out.

Can someone tell me the point of a bump band? I was looking at them in New Look on Saturday and couldn't see the point!

I have bought a maternity top from New Look - I was quite impressed with their range. I bought a size 14 but think it was a bit optimistic of me as I am already filling the bottom part. The problem is when you go up to a size 16 the top part is too baggy. Bloody maternity clothes - why don't they fit properly???

LittleMissBliss · 23/03/2009 10:01

fidelma Sammysam linked to a new thread with our dates on, i think on page 11,12 or 13? Its near the top.
Copy the last updated dates on the thread. Paste it in the 'add your message here' bit and edit to add your dates!

Willmouse bump bands are good as they allow you to wear non-maternity tops without flashing the bottom of your bump a la belly top stylie!

bella good luck with the scan today, you must be so excited!

waves to everyone else!

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 23/03/2009 10:02

Sammysam

I'd insist on a test - like Flamesparrow said, just tell them you've been in contact with a definite case of parvovirus and have felt unwell yourself.

They must appreciate that it's better to be safe than sorry with this virus.

My lovely midwife has already phoned - got a fetal specialist appointment on 3/4 and will have extra blood tests on Wednesday when I have my 12 week scan.

HumphreysCorner · 23/03/2009 10:45

Good luck with scans today ladies. Mine is tomorrow at 9-50am eek so need to have a full bladder but struggle to drink any soda water before 11am.

Feel very nauseous today and I too think it is down to my lunchtime meal yesterday. Just eaten a peanut butter sandwich to keep me going until I collect DD2 from nursery.

Terribly sad about Jade, she is on the front page of all the newspapers.

Very of all the scans.

Not sure if my MS is getting better or I am just more regular with my pills.

at the nappy buying Sammysam

Doggus - yup, have been here all my life and love it (spent 6 months in Oakdale which was a scary time for me - faaaaaar too different in Poole ).

sammysam · 23/03/2009 12:54

I will try and get hold of the MW and say that i've been in contact with someone who has it then!!!

MS has been worse than ever the last 5 days-feel ok-ish today though!

Bump bands are also useful at the begining as you can wear them low so you can wear your normal jeans etc with the bottons etc undone and not worry about exposing yourself And also useful when BF as they cover up your post baby tummy!

Can't remember who it was but KFC is something i'm craving as well-and I don't really eat meat!!

I'm madly searchng online for shoes to match the dress for the wedding......have orederd a few-now have to find a bag and all the etxras......my eyes are starting to hurt

Hope all the scans are going well....

MrsPuddleduck · 23/03/2009 13:09

Ahhh, now I understand bump belts!

HC - good luck with the scan tomorrow. Mine is next Tuesday and I have to drink a litre of fluids one hour before. I hope they don't run late!

I am also hankering after a KFC - they have recently opened a drive through in Stafford and every time we go past I fancy one!

HappyTangerine · 23/03/2009 13:18

Congrats to everyone with scan results last week, Bella, hope yours has gone well. Mine is at 11.15am tomorrow and I am terribly nervous. How much water does it take to get a full bladder and how long in advance are you supposed to drink the water? I am dreading them getting to me late and me being so full that I can bareley move.

Wedding went fine, v long gap between ceremony and meal which annoyed some of the guests and staff(ceremony ended at 2.20pm and photos went on until 3.55pm). Groom still looked stressed but better than he had sounded a few days before. They now have to have another wedding overseas in July so that the bride's family who couldn't be there get to see them marry. I'll be 6m by then and doubt I can go.

MS still terrible but I've gone on enough about that. Had to submit another urine sample for them to check for protein-high wbc indicates I have a uti.

Told my mum on Friday that I was pg-she didn't believe me at first! Had to show my maternity notes to convince her! We rang my sister then so I could tell her-she was wallking down a street in Vienna and started screaming/crying. That had me in tears then! Told MIL yesterday and she was thrilled for us and v excited-little bit different for her as she already has 2 grandaughters - the first thing she said was "I'll pray that its a son!

Is anyone still going to the gym? I'm swimming as well but wondering what can do safely at gym apart from the cross trainer and treadmill.

HC-good luck tomorrow! Will be thinkingn of you.

LoneStranger · 23/03/2009 13:23

Hi to all. Good luck to those with scans this week! Can also recommend the bump bands thingy's, somehow made me feel a bit more 'secure' that the baby was held in well and felt less of a compulsion to 'support under my bump' if i was in a hurry and walking fast or in crowded places. Wierd.

Am 13 weeks + now and still having all-day sickness. Its worst when im driving hoome from work in the afternoon, makes me feel queasy and sea-sick. Havent actually been sick mind, but that in-between feeling is uuurrrgh!

So at Doggus, Sammysam, Little Miss Bliss and FlameSparrow living so close together. Its good being able to lurk and post on this thread, but would kind of like a pregnancy-buddy too. Anyone plainning to deliver at EBC?

Question please Ladies. Anyone know whether I should stop taking folic acid now? I started taking it about 5 weeks ago, but have a history of being slightly anaemic in pregnancy. Any advice welcome.

HappyTangerine · 23/03/2009 13:30

LoneStranger - I'm 13 weeks today as well and have been told by midwife to take until 16 weeks. I think the advice varies though

LoneStranger · 23/03/2009 13:35

Thanks HT, and congrats to you!

CookieMonster1 · 23/03/2009 13:57

Hello all

Had my scan this morning and all looks well so far. Can't quite believe it and the look on DH's face was something to see! It all seems much more real now. Outcome of bloods and NF test to come in the next 5 days or so.

Happy Tangerine I am still going to the gym 2 or 3 times a week. I was quite fit before so the MW said it was fine to keep going but to take it easy. Cycling is really good, along with the cross trainer and intervals on the treadmill. I'm also still doing a bit of light rowing but have been advised not to carry on with rowing too far in the second trimester as it can raise your blood pressure. The general message I got from my MW seemed to be don't push yourself too hard and don't get too out of breath but apart from that do whatever feels comfortable.

HappyTangerine · 23/03/2009 14:03

CookieMonster - thats really helpful re the gym, thanks so much. Have been sticking to the cross trainer, treadmill and lateral thigh trainer but I also swim 6x a week.

Congrats on the scan!! MY Oh seems all v philosophical about it at the moment while I'm a nervous wreck!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 23/03/2009 14:16

Hi guys, really quick post from me as I'm dashing off to meetings all the time...

I managed to find the HB last night using my doppler, I'm 11 weeks today so that's not bad going - particularly with the extra 'insulation' I am carrying! DH heard it too, was really lovely - a nice gift for mother's day.

Roll on my scan next Tues - only a week to go now, its really been the longest weeks ever since getting the BFP - I'm sure it wasn't this bad first time round - I guess that's the effect of a MC.

I thought you were supposed to keep taking folic acid all the way through pg, or is that just if you have SB in your family?

DogStar · 23/03/2009 14:36

Hi all

very excited because my MW has just been and she found a tiny super speedo HB !!! Am so pleased and happy I can't tell you. Proud of myself .

I feel slightly jealous of the bournemouth posse too

I think the folic recommendation is 12 weeks. The one I'm taking (pregnacare I think) has other stuff in too so I'll carry on taking it till they run out I guess. Also my diet has gone haywire...I too have visions of KFC buckets

NF + Dating tomorrow, yikes.

DogStar · 23/03/2009 14:39

good luck HC* tomorrow with your scan x

HumphreysCorner · 23/03/2009 14:45

Cookie-brill news about your scan.

Dogstar-wow at hearing the heartbeat. Good luck for tomorrow.

Sparkly-yay for you too hearing the heartbeat.

HappyTangerine-will be thinking of you tomorrow while I am still at the hospital.

My folic acid is Tesco own and it says to take until 12 weeks so I will stop once I have my scan and a proper due date. I too am of the South Coast posse. Nobody lives in Lincolnshire near me.

Hi all [wave]

Good news about the scan CookieMonster1 I can't wait to see the look on my dh face to -I still think that he doesn't think its real! only 3 full days to wait until Fridays scan! 12+2 and i swear I am still feeling movement!

Good luck for tomorrow HC and any one else who has theirs this week!

Any one from the Guildford area?

I hadn't even thought about KFC but now I can't get it out of my head! I am sure I could eat a whole bucket myself!

Hope all you mums a good day yesterday.

xx

Cazza28 · 23/03/2009 16:48

BellaCullen any news ? x

BellaCullen · 23/03/2009 19:12

Scan went well and we had our own screen so could see it straight away.
Dp was holding onto scan picture for ages after I think its finally real for him.It was lovely to see baby which was sleeping. Also had the blood test for downs which is new at our hospital so I didnt expect it.Didnt read notes they sent so didn`t see the part about it.

Cookie great that your scan was good too. Can`t wait for next one now as be able to see even more detail.

Good luck to HumphreysCorner and HappyTangerine for your scans tomorrow.

Wished I lived in Poole love going to Sandbanks best beach ever.

BellaCullen · 23/03/2009 19:21

Forgot to say due date stays the same baby was measuring exactly right for 12 weeks+3.

stroopwafel · 23/03/2009 19:24

I thought you took folic acid all the way through.. well think i did last time! Might have just been coz it was a multi vit too.

Been combatting sick (both ends!) ds today and trying to decide on whether to go for the exchange rate for the deposit on our house or leaving it until tomorrow so feeling well stressed! (From pounds to euros) The exchange rate is so bad I think we've lost the lovely new bathroom we were gonna put in for not transferring the dosh a few weeks ago, but hey ho... times run out now. Stupid thing is, I still keep looking at the rate... willing it not to go up!

Well done ladies on the scans so far this week and good luck for those who are later in the week! It must be great to see those bouncing babies at 12 weeks. Don't feel like you miss out not getting an 8 week scan in the UK.. there was nothing to see but a blob and the egg sack! Really hard to see the hb.

Im beginning to feel more sick now, did anyone elses ms pick up at about 8 weeks? Had a good 4 weeks off really, and not sure if this is ds' sickness bug or ms!

doggus · 23/03/2009 19:46

Bella and Cookie - well done and for all you heartbeat hearers.

HC - where do you live in Lincolnshire? I was brought up there, by the banks of my Humber, as my dad used to say, to make it sound a lot more exotic!

I am taking folic acid all the way through, as part of a multivitamin. I am also taking Omega 3 for mums-to-be.
