MW has just been and she said I would be offered an amnio due to my age without even having the bloods done. The annoying thing is the hospital has the facility to due nuchal scans but haven't any staff trained to do them. Bah!

Must dash and get DD1 from school.

littlepea Where I am you don't get your notes till after your scan anyway and also was reading on another thread about someone who didn't think they would do the scan if she didn't have notes and when she got there they did the scan first then took her into another room and did her notes then. So they might do something similar with you if you've not got them by scan day.

Anyone else feeling movement yet? i'm 12 and a half weeks and i'm getting very definate movements now especially when i'm sat quietly in the evening watching TV. The midwife said I'd probably feel them early as this is my third baby in three years so have no stomach muscle tone whatsoever! Just wondering if i'm the only one feeling it yet?

Also look about 4/5months already, got some wonderful maternity jeans from Mamas and papas last week, they're so comfortable and were only £30.

HumphreysCorner · 20/03/2009 17:36

Oh, and the MW said you must have a full bladder for the 12 week scan.

Oh no my whole post just disappeared.
Feeling really rough, had bad tummy bug wed felt so ill was in bed all day and even had a temperature.Still feeling sick today, not sure whether MS or tummy bug.

Am 12 weeks today and got scan on monday.Had my booking in yesterday and was really disappointed saw her for only 10 mins where she took medical history and bloods and blood pressure. She didn`t even feel my tummy never mind listen for heartbeat.Am really annoyed with myself for forgetting my questions too..Prefered my male midwife last time at least he was nicer.

Sorry for not answerring to posts just can`t remember what I read now and feeling really nauseous guess will have this till 16 weeks like last time.

can`t wait to get some sleep.

LoneStranger · 21/03/2009 08:42

Hello, good morning all. I bagseyed a space in the corner a few weeks ago, well I am back, to take up my space, if that's still ok?

.

Im 'officially' due on 27/28 September, but i've been following this thread keenly, so can I still stay?

Congratulations to all and best wishes to the posters who sadly have had bad news this time.

I went with DD age 5 to my scan on Tuesday; I was a wreck because have had 2 mcs before. I mentioned this to the sonographer and she was brilliant. She turned the screen to me and said "Here's someone that would like to meet you!" We hadnt told DD beforehand abd the way she jumped out of the seat and squealed:

"Mummy, do you know there's a baby in your tummy? You ate all your food up like a good girl, so I can have a little sister". That triggered me blubbing for England. That and seeing the baby wave and twisting and turning around. What a true joy! I literally felt like fallilng on my knees in prayer. We called DP as we left and DD told him all the details and that 'she is keeping an eye on me?'

Still feeling sick, and so so tired all the time.

Just to say I had my scan before the booking appointment. Notes werent required because the scan took place at the general ultrasound unit and the sonographer only does the scan, nothing else. I had the booking appointment 2 days later and the midwife also took bloods, lots of form-filling and medical history. She did not feel my tummy or listen for the heartbeat either. Actually, even with my last 2 I dont recall that happening until much later on.

Have my next scan booked for 22/5/09.

Im off now and big wave to you all. Im off to take DD and DS to their lessons. I slept from 6.30 last night to 7 this morning and I feel a bit more 'with it' now. Will hope to get a chance to come back on here later, but DP needs the laptop for his work and its the only working PC in the house at the moment. Looks like its going to be a nice day, so hope you all it enjoy it and Mohter's Day.

HumphreysCorner · 21/03/2009 09:34

Hi again LoneStranger-that is lovely news about your scan and no wonder you cried.

Am still umming and ahing about having an amnio instead of bloods. At least the MW confirmed to to me what I knew all along that the blood test risk results mean diddly squat. The only way to know for sure is to have an amnio as a local lady who got a risk of 1:20000 has just given birth to a baby with Downs Syndrome. Will wait to see what happens at the scan on Tuesday.

Have a lovely day ladies. Must get on and do jelly and veg ready for the Mothers Day gathering tomorrow.

BlackEyedDogstar · 21/03/2009 14:04

hi LoneStranger well done on your scan! Super news. I haven't even told ds yet (just in case) but he will be thrilled when we tell him.

I have a dating and nuchal scan on tuesday. Eek. HC your story of the lady who was given miniscule odds of having a baby with Downs has shocked me a bit! Did she have a nuchal or was it just blood tests?

I'm thinking of name-changing - to just DogStar. Will this cause confusion do you think? - esp with Doggus? The reason is that my mum has told someone about my pregnancy who knows I use this site and I suspect she might come and snoop on me....I once discovered her flicking through my filo-fax when I popped out of the room for a minute ! So she has form . It isn't that I ever post anything particularly controversial or embarrassing - I just don't want to be stalked!

ballio · 21/03/2009 16:23

Hi all
I would change the name blackeyeddogstar, dont want people spying!
I was 25 when i got pregnant with DS and i had a nuchal test thing and i got odds of 1:93 which is high risk so went to London to a fetal medicine unit and the man there just had a look via a normal scan and said everything looks ok, although he obviously couldnt say for sure! DS was fine!
Sometimes think the tests come with more worry
Im having my nuchal test on Friday so hopefully the odds will be better this time so i dont have such a stressfull pregnancy like last time.
Hope everyone well and having a good weekend! dont forget ladies, feet up all day tomorrow!

doggus · 21/03/2009 18:05

blackeyeddogstar - I am sure no-one would confuse us so go for it. Cheeky woman, isn't she!

theboob - I can't watch it at the moment as I don't want to cry...I lost my mum just before ds was born so am in a tender state but will watch later! I find Mother's Day hard, but I think it will get easier with time especially as ds grows older and cooks me breakfast (hopes).

LoneStranger - many congrats on your scan, make yourself comfy.

I haven't replied to everyone, sorry, been ages so much to catch up on. I am feeling a bit better today, still slight bleeding, but my scan is on Thursday.

HumphreysCorner · 21/03/2009 21:07

Dogstar-it was just the blood test risk results as we don't have nuchal scans here, yet! Terrifying thought isn't it?

Happy Mothers Day everyone.. hope your all getting a fab lie in with breaky in bed and lots of kiddie kisses (or bump!). Its not mothers day here in NL, so hubby has decided to leave it until May this yr.

I sent to both our mothers and realised last night that I had sent flowers to my MIL who is currently in France... doh! Pregnancy brain not quite connecting at the mo...

Hope the day is as sunny there as it is here

DogStar · 22/03/2009 10:33

Yes Happy Mother's Day everyone!

Just switched on to see the sad news about Jade Goody and burst into tears.

I'm spending today helping Dp fill out a complex job application - which he really REALLY needs to get!! So I hope everyone else gets to enjoy the sunshine today .

LittleMissBliss · 22/03/2009 17:26

I came downstairs this morning to hear the awful news about Jade Goody. So sad, her poor family and boys. Makes me really appreciative of everything.

I've been at work all day and DP and DS spent today with MIL and her Mum. Came home to some chocolates and grow your own sunflowers!

4 days untill scan!!

Hope you have all had a lovely mothers day! xx

doggus · 22/03/2009 19:55

littlemissbliss - are you being scanned at Poole on Thursday afternoon? So am I! How funny - I will go into the waiting room and shout 'littlemiss' and see if anyone answers!

Happy Mother's Day to all - we went on the land train by the beach, it was a beautiful day, all the mummies in the sun.

Flamesparrow · 22/03/2009 20:08

How did I miss that you two are local?!?! I'm in Bournemouth!

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter · 22/03/2009 20:23

For sammysam - slapped cheek question.

I am still awaiting my blood test results but, after having a little tantrum with the midwife (as another mum I know of has had her results and her first extra scan even though her blood tests were done after mine) she has now agreed with my request that I be treated as a 'positive' result in the absence of any results at all !!

In this area that means antenatal care overseen by a gynie consultant and weekly scans !!

If you have any thought at all that maybe you have been exposed to the virus - and if you don't know if you're already immune, please do go and see your midwife. There is no cure, there is no vaccine against the virus. There is no way to stop a virus induced miscarriage (a threat until 25 weeks my midwife believes although most literature I've seen says 20 weeks) but they can treat any fetal anemia and water around the babies heart if it's detected in time (only a 3-4% risk of this in babies whose mothers do catch the virus so it is only a small risk)

The virus does not usually cross the placenta but, I think I caught it at 8-9 weeks which is before the placenta is fully operational so I need to ask the consultant how that might change prognosis etc

Usual 12 week scan on Wednesday and the midwife is phoning me tomorrow after she's got me an appointment with the consultant.

LittleMissBliss · 22/03/2009 20:39

I sure am doggus! 2.10! Oh i wonder if i'll see you there....???

flamesparrow doggus, myself and sammysam all live Poole!

doggus · 22/03/2009 21:51

Oh poo, littlemiss I am not there til 3.30pm. I reckon you and I are going to be in adjacent beds in the post-natal ward, we msut be due on the same day!

flamesparrow - isn't it amazing, I wonder what the odds are on that? Are you happy in Bournemouth? We are always in Wagamama, Aruba and Zizzi with ds, he loves it there. Oh, and Castlepoint, of course. He's a regular in the M&S cafe upstairs.

CalypsoFlame · 22/03/2009 22:14

Happy mothers / mothers-to-be day

Lots and lots of good luck to all those having scans this week

sammysam · 23/03/2009 07:17

Just trying to catch up

I hope everyone has had a lovely weekend and Mother's Day! Have had a lovely weekend-now back to normality

Ican'tbelieveitsnotbitter-i am a bit worried-but the doc didn't think dd had it(she didn't have the red cheeks at the time) and then MW just said well if he didn't think she had it then everything is ok Do you think I could ask to be tested? Or will they kick up a big fuss? I'm really easily fobbed off......

Hope all the scans go well today-I'm sure there is at least two?

Flamesparrow-Wow-4 of us all living so close how crazy!! I think I have bought nappies from you in the past as well!

I bought the dress for the wedding at the weekend-now just need to find shoes and accessories-will look today or tomorrow. Also got some maternity jeans-heaven! 2 bump bands and a top so I can at least have some days of comfort and not worring about walking around with my jeans completely undone

I was so sad hearing about Jade yesterday Her poor little boys. And on Mother's Day as well Too sad for words.

Flamesparrow · 23/03/2009 07:52

Go and ask - tell them a chil dyou have been caring for has been diagnosed with it - that way they won't be able to question you avbout having taken in yours etc

BellaCullen · 23/03/2009 08:17
