Stroopwafel - apparently, there is a Gladys as well! These names conjoure up such sensual lingerie images - NOT!

KleineMaus · 10/03/2009 18:54

Very for Chalkpink.

HappyTangerine - great dress. Wishing I had an occasion I could buy it for. My ms is getting worse too. I somehow managed to throw up spectacularly all over my feet last night. I'm hoping it's a good sign...

Had my booking in appointment today. I was surprised they didn't take blood or feel my tummy. I don't suppose it matters as I'll have a scan next week.

peachespaige · 10/03/2009 19:45

Hi all

chalkpink Im so sorry for your loss, please take care.xx

doggus and sponge You must both be so relieved, well done.

Slapped Cheek sound awful, I hope you recover soon and dont let the info scare you.x

Quick question, Im 7 weeks tomorrow and feel dreadful, I thought I was sailing through but omg today I can barely keep my eyes open am crying and grumpy have no energy etc etc. On Monday I couldnt look at the fish at Sainsburys as it made me feel mildly queesy. Did the badness kick in around this time for you or am I just having a crappy week.?

doggus · 10/03/2009 20:00

Thank you all so much for being so lovely and caring!

Littlemiss - the obstetrician wants me to go ahead and have the 12 week scan anyhow and nuchal fold at the same time. He also offers a 4D scan at 26 weeks, I am SO going to do that, we didn't do it last time and I regretted it. Again because I am 41 it will give extra possible problem illumination too.

blackeyes - I'm 41 too and feel so much worse with this pg than my last at 38. I am having the nuchal fold and no amnio/CVS unless my risk is extremely high after the blood test. I am a Catholic too but me and dh have had lengthy conversations about Down's - he is 52, I am 41, and we have no close relatives at all, so we would just fret terribly about who would look after lo after we died.

peachespaige - last time I was og I suddenly felt terrible at 7 weeks, I remember it well. I couldn't even log into mumsnet as typing the web address made me nauseous due to the baby connotations!

Hattie05 · 10/03/2009 20:23

Hi all,

Wow its hard to keep up with this thread! I only pop on here occasionally i seem to have lots to catch up with!

Chalkpink that is awful news, i'm so sorry to hear. Take care of yourself xxx

Congrats to those who have good news from scans.

I've just had a pretty depressing booking in appt with my GP. I'm in a small village, and he tells me there is such a staff shortage in the hospital that the midwife no longer has a clinic at the surgery. She will offer home visits for antenatal, which means you will be given a day not a time. This isn't going to be easy for me as i work fulltime and can't afford to take entire days off to sit and wait for the midwife!

I also asked for an early scan due to my previous miscarriage, he has given me a form to take to the epu but told me not to be surprised if they turn me away because of regulations!! Is this normal procedure for other areas? I've always heard good reports about epu's before.

Lastly - how serious is Chicken pox when pregnant if i know i had it myself in childhood. Can it still harm the baby even if i'm immune?

Hattie05 · 10/03/2009 20:25

Peaches i'm 61/2 weeks and suffered a particularly bad day with tiredness too. with my other pg's, i recall feeling like this until 10 weeks or so.

spongebrainbigpants · 10/03/2009 20:40

Hattie, how many previous m/cs have you had?

I had two before I had my DS, both IVF related and had taken 5 yrs to conceive. Despite all this EPU refused to see me - you have to have had 3 m/cs in most areas before they'll consider it.

We paid for a private scan. Would this be an option for you?

Hattie05 · 10/03/2009 20:44

Hi sponge, i've had one miscarriage last October so i guess that rules me out!

Thanks for the info as i was under the impression people got to EPU easily.

I hadn't thought about a private scan, how do i find out about places in my area? Do i need to get referred to a private hospital?

spongebrainbigpants · 10/03/2009 21:07

Hattie, you definitely wouldn't qualify . EPUs are snowed under and prioritise women who've had repeat m/cs - the good news being that you actually have a very high chance of a healthy pg. Single m/cs are fairly common but thankfully more than one is relatively unusual. So the stats are on your side .

However, I know that doesn't stop the worry . You don't need a referral for a private scan - I just googled for clinics in my area, but if you can get a personal reference then that is obviously better. Could you ask on MN? Where do you live? Someone could probably recommend one.

doggus · 10/03/2009 22:20

Hattie - I have had private scans for both this and last pg. In my area (Poole and Bournemouth) for some reason they are incredibly expensive at £200 but most charge less than this. I rang both my local private hospitals and then chose which suited. The scan was done by the head of obstetrics on the NHS which was great.

sammysam · 11/03/2009 08:02

Oh god Chalk-I'm so so sorry sending loads of love x x x

Thats great news doggus! Cause for a big celebration-not too long to wait for the 12wk scan now either!

HappyTangerine-thank you so much for the link to that dress-I will have to go and hunt it down-tried shopping for one yesterday with no luck-that looks perfect and there is only 3wks til the wedding-you may in fact be my life saver

My excitement about the scan is now VERY quickly turning into utter fear. Especially after chalks news. I can't put into words how scared I am about that happening. Does anyone know what the chances are of that happening? If you have not seen the heartbeat I suppose there is no way of knowing? God i'm scared. Please tell me to stop being so stupid. I am so paranoid and I know that worrying doesn't help at all......I just can't stop

Hope everyone is well this morning x x x

LittleMissBliss · 11/03/2009 08:06

Doggus very of all your scans must be lovely knowing you will be seeing the bub again soon! I think a 3D/4D scan will be lovely. You must post your pictures! Its amazing how clever technology is these days.

Having the estate aganets come over and take pictures of the house today and i really can't be bothered. Ds slept really badly last night woke up crying which he never does, he seems to have mucus on his chest that he can't shift.

Have a lovely day all.

10+2 today roll on 12 weeks.

theboob · 11/03/2009 08:08

morning all

chalk i'm so sorry , take care of yourself x x

i have my scan today at 11.20,and i'm still feeling ill sammy its only natural to feel scared , i saw the heartbeat last week and still feel scared

hope everybody else feels ok today x x

sammysam · 11/03/2009 08:19

Thank you boob-and good luck for your scan. I'm sorry you are still feeling so ill-lots of love and get well wishes!

Feel quite sick this morning and cramps have been back the last couple of days.....just hope that that is a good thing

Really have to get these bad thoughts out of my head.....

Littlemiss-hope you have a better night tonight!

littlepea72 · 11/03/2009 08:32

I must of been thinking about things last night, as ive had one hell of a dream/ nightmare, i can remember dreaming i going to the loo a couple of times and finding blood, i woke up this morning thinking it was real and i had MC'd through the night. It was one of those that you dont know if you dreamed it or not, but i know if it had of been real then the last thing i would of done was go back to sleep. I havent felt sick at all this morning, im just in a panic now incase something is wrong. Its amazing what you dream just by reading something.

LittleMissBliss · 11/03/2009 08:58

x post sammy

thankyou me too! I'm a gal that needs her sleep! Poor ds i'm not really sure how to shift it i've tried back patting, warm water. Holding him forward when he coughs. oh well sure it will shift it self he seems happy now he's up and about. I think it just on of those things that's worse when lying down.

I hope you feel better as the day goes. I have to admit that i have little worries too. I think it's the news of people reaching their 12 week scan date to find that the pregnancy has ended. But i think we just have to think that it is out of our hand and what will be, will be. We have an extremly high chance of everything being well, so lets both focus on that .

boob good luck today, hope you feel better soon. I found vitamin C tablets really helped when i felt unwell. Helped to boost my sytem.

Littlepea Your dream sounds really disstressing. It's horrible when you wake up and can't determine what is real or just a vivid dream.

LittleMissBliss · 11/03/2009 09:04

Oh re- vit C don't take too much if it (not sure why, i was just advised this in the pharmacy when i asked if it was safe to take in pregnancy) If it states every day on label, take every third day.

smallone · 11/03/2009 09:16

Morning everyone, have come here for a sulk. I'm feeling really sorry for myself, I've been so tired the last few days (that drugged feeling) but DH is really arsy with me if I go to bed. In fact he's generally just being unsupportive and making me feel like I'm being selfish. I feel like he thinks I'm swinging the lead.

twinklegreen · 11/03/2009 09:24

Morning everyone
Hattie05 Chicken Pox is only harmful if you catch it. If you have had it already there's a tiny risk of getting it and even if you get it it's another small risk it would effect the baby, so don't worry too much.

lal123 · 11/03/2009 09:32

Hattie - just to say that it might be worth checking with your local EPU re their policies on early scans. I got an early scan from them after my first mc (which unfortunately resulted in a second mc) and have arranged an early scan with this preg. too (though not so early! - scan booked for next Tuesday, think I'll be about 9 weeks by then).
Smallone - I don't think that men realise just how tired pregnancy makes you. My DP is being a star, but like you I still think he thinks I'm putting it on!

littlepea72 · 11/03/2009 09:48

Smallone, the being tired is bad enough but the drugged feeling makes it 100 times harder! If im doing the housework, i get the downstairs done, but ive just nothing left to do the upstairs! DH then wonders why, i try to explain but he just says "why dont you ask me for help if you cant handle it"....im still waiting 1 week later for the help! Even DS who is only 4 helps with the hovering & the dusting! Men....

Sparklytwinkletoes · 11/03/2009 09:48

Morning all, another one incredibly paranoid here, its getting to the same stage in this pg as I got to when I think the last one ended. Also the due date of the last one is coming up very quicky too (17th March).

My next scan is booked on 31st March and it can't come soon enough.

I had bad cramps yesterday and D again, but that all seems to be back to normal today. I really don't feel sick, my boobs don't seem sensitive, i'm not so tired and my appetite has faded away - I'm just so worried that its happening all over again

MrsPuddleduck · 11/03/2009 10:26

Hi

I am also worried sick now. The ms sickness has suddenly disappeared at 8 weeks having been horrendous for the last fortnight.

Has this happened to anyone else?

fidelma · 11/03/2009 10:48

dont worry.Mine keeps comming and going sometimes its really bad and then it goes.Enjoy not having it for a while I am sure it will be back.I'm 9+6 weeks.

littlepea72 · 11/03/2009 10:52

In my first pregnancy i got Ms & everything else upto the 8 week mark, then nothing, but i had a healthy DS, my second pregnancy i got a tiny bit of sore boobs & tireness, then i went for scan & it had died, this time its on & off, i know alot of people who never get anything, or a mixture which stops early but still go all the way. I dont think you can really tell unless you bleed or untill the scan, mine isnt for another 2 weeks, and its a long wait! Its a worry
