great news spongebrain! I was thinking of you this morning along with Doggus - and wishing you both positive scans.

Sorry that you have extra added stress ICBINB - but I agree with LittleMissBliss about staying positive. Easy to say I know. Take care of yourself and rest loads.

I am also paranoid about my ability to keep this bean going. I'm 41 so can't bear all the neg over-35 statistics for mc/abnormalities. Am trying to be whatever-will-be about it. With ds I couldn't really believe I was capable of producing an actual human - you know wiyth eyes and ears and and legs and everything (I don't know what I thought I was going to have) but didn't really worry about it like this!

BlackEyedDogstar · 10/03/2009 13:37

ahh x-post....Good luck Doggus x

Chalkpink · 10/03/2009 13:45

Hi all.
Great news Spongebrain and good luck Doggus.

Sad news here, just back from 12 week scan and the pregnancy failed some weeks ago. Started bleeding last night so wasn't entirely surprised but obviously gutted. Will have another scan at epu next week to confirm.
Good luck to everyone else, I will be thinking of you in October.

Onwards and upwards I suppose.

DevilsAdvocaat · 10/03/2009 13:50

oh chalkpink so sorry to hear that x

icbinb - keeping fingers crossed for you and lots of positive thoughts x

lal123 · 10/03/2009 14:03

Chalkpink - so sorry to hear your sad news. Keep strong.

xx

HappyTangerine · 10/03/2009 14:21

I've just come back from having my bra size re-measured-have gone from a 38D to a 38F . Got a Shock Absorber and a bra called "Doreen" - not the most appealing name for a bra but its so comfortable!

Am 11 wks tomorrow and my morning sickness is definately getting worse, now being sick several times a day. Am I a genetic freak?? Mornings much worse, stomach cannot tolerate toast, bread or tea. Saw Dr this morning who did a test for urine infection and told me I seemed to be having "a particularly hormonal pregnancy." Then saw dentist who was advising me on how to minimise ms acid damage to teeth - he has recommended a daily flouride rinse so I got Endekay, £2.59 from Boots. Off to asthma clinic at doctors at 5pm to hopefully be told I no longer have asthma!

sponge yay, I am so pleased for you!

doggus good luck

HC - Mine is at 11.15am. The time is sooo dragging. I've turned into such a worrier.

ICBINB - sorry to hear you've got the extra stress of this, if I'm right, you have a 90-91% chance of a healthy pg? Thats pretty high odds so I'm sending you positive vibes and a hug

chalkpink I'm so sorry, thinking of you

Blackeyeddogstar - I'm paranoid as well-also over 35(35 now, will be 36 in July) and trying hard to avoid the mc/abnormalities statistics. Will not be opting for cvs or amniocentisis (am Catholic)but will have the blood tests/scans and just think positive.

Willmouse - heres hoping we both have nice midwives and good appointments next week, it will feel a bit more real to me after I've met the midwife. Then 9 days to the scan-thank God I have a mid week wedding to go to next week to take my mind off the waiting!

BlackEyedDogstar · 10/03/2009 14:35

Chalkpink - so so sorry at your news and best wishes for future happy pregnancies.

HappyTangerine - I'm having a nuchal fold scan but I won't have cvs or amnio either.

MustGetSleep · 10/03/2009 14:43

Oh no ICBINB - there is a lot of slapped cheek around our area atm, and the worst of it is that it is contagious before the symptoms come out . Thankfully I had it very severely as a child (the list of "rare side effects" that illnesses have... I got the lot for slapped cheek ) so am safe from that one.

Chalk - so so sorry

Tangerine - mine is still getting progressively worse too, but on the plus side between it I am getting more energy (sort of). I may just hit the next person who tells me I should be eating little and often to stop the sickness... do people seriously think I haven't tried everything listed to stop it???

Why would they name any bra Doreen??

Yay for Sponge!

idreamofbeanie · 10/03/2009 14:47

Chalk - I am so very sorry . I don't really know what to say except take care of yourself and good luck for the future.

Cazza28 · 10/03/2009 14:52

Chalkpink so sorry for you news hope you are ok.

ICBINB keep strong and like HC says 90% chance is very high!

Good Luck doggus

littlepea72 · 10/03/2009 15:00

Chalkpink im so very sorry, its one of the worse feelings in the world. We are always here if you need to talk xx

HumphreysCorner · 10/03/2009 15:06

Chalkpink-I am so very sorry to hear your sad news. Take care and good luck for the future. {{xx}}

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter-how absolutely awful for you. I have not come across slapped cheek but it does sound very nasty.

Calypso-I don't have a full bladder when using my doppler, should I have? Next try will be Friday.

HappyTangerine-my mum has the Doreen bra as she never shrank after having me and bro and she never BF either.

Will check back for news on doggus.

Hooray spongebrain - so pleased for you.

Icantbelieveitsnotbitter - I've not heard of slapped cheek, but for you that it's caused a problem. Think you've got a great attitude - but don't think too much yet about how you'll feel if you miscarry.........

chalkpink - I'm so very sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself.

doggus - good luck with the scan. Will be looking out for your news.

doggus · 10/03/2009 15:27

chalkpink - I am SO sorry, will be thinking of you.

We are delighted with our scan results - the gestational sac is no longer small and the baby has a strong heartbeat at 189. The little bub even waved one of its little stumpy arms!

Just to say I was ready to give up hope after my last scan so to anyone else waiting, good luck.

Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts and kind words! x

HumphreysCorner · 10/03/2009 15:41

doggus-thank goodness for that.

Wow, oh i'm so glad! You must both be so chuffed! Will the scan count as your datting scan? Or will you be having another scan in a few weeks?

chalkpink I'm so sorry it didn't work out this time, I wish all all the very best luck and happiness soon XXXXX

doggus lovely news, very happy for you!

HC I definitely couldn't hear anything until my bladder was very full:
"Always start with a full bladder, especially in the early weeks (weeks 8-14). This will help to bring your uterus up out of your pelvic cavity"

Thanks for the link Calypso-will have another try on Friday as I will be 11+1 then.

doggus, fab news!

HappyTangerine · 10/03/2009 17:50

Doggus thats fantasic news, I am so pleased for you

MustGetSleep - ah yes, the little and often advice. Shopkeeper yesterday told me to try arrowroot biscuits, sure thing for curing morning sickness apparently. They promptly triggered this mornings bout.

HumpreysCorner - God, I hope my huge boobs shrink after this pg -I'm in danger of knocking myself out when running if they don't!

Goodish news from asthma clinic-no preventative inhaler needed any more, just use blue one as and when (rarely) needed.

AND (proud icon) I managed to find a dress for friends wedding next Thursday. By happy accident, the person who unlocked changing room for me in Debenhams was the personal shopper. She helped me choose a white bolero to go with dress. Its something I can hopefully wear throughout the pg, nice elasticated waist. Its here

stroopwafel · 10/03/2009 18:18

Chalkpink sorry to hear your sad sad news.

ICBINB - there is slapped cheek going around here too (The Hague) and when I mentioned it to my doctor as a friends 2 yr old had it a few weeks ago, she said, oh not to worry...! Not sure if I ever had it before, but thought I would relay the very relaxed attitude they had over here about it.

This is my second child, but first in the Netherlands and getting very confused by the route I should take. I currently have 3 scans booked for the 8 week, and 1 for the 12 week (all at diff places)as I keep getting sent diff ways to start! Got myself a mw now, so will have to cancel all the rest! Doh!

Doreen, now that sounds like an attractive bra ;)
