It's good to hear you are not the only one with all these really nasty worries. I always naturally tend to be cautious (dp would say more on the pessamistic sp? side) but when pg and especially this time round i'm crazy-these thoughts just pop in my head and it is so hard to shift them. I just so want everything to be ok, not only for the obvious reasons but also i've had to change so many plans/events already and I don't want it to have all been in vein iyswim I hope it is me just being REALLY paranoid and then next tues i'll be on top of the world........I really hate that voice telling me different

Hattie-I'm fairly certain that it's only catching chicken pox in the last few weeks before the baby is due that is bad as then the baby won't have time to build up enough immunity from you before birth and are born with it which can make them very ill-early on I think its fine (esp if you have had it already)

Must try and keep my brain busy so I can get rid of these thoughts It's really starting to do my head in as I know it really doesn't help anything-wish my brain would listen to my own advice!!!!!

theboob · 11/03/2009 11:46

hello my scan was brilliant
my new edd is now 28.09.09,my little bean would not keep still for her to measure it,i saw legs and arms ,nose face it really looked like a real baby
at one point i felt it move where she was looking it really was amazing,i'm going to upload pictures today, she could see the placenta and the baby's umbilical cord and had to tip the bed at one point to stop the baby wiggling

have new apt on 13th may for 20 weeks scan

hope you are all well x x

sammysam · 11/03/2009 11:58

Boob-so glad your scan was so good

ICBINB I think dd has slapped cheek-last 2 days she has had 2 red cheeks-she has never had red cheeks before.....should I phone the docs? I have felt a bit achey for a couple of days. What did the docs say to you?
Bugger-don't need anything else to make me paranoid

idreamofbeanie · 11/03/2009 11:59

Hi all,

it's good to know I'm not the only one worrying (not that I'm happy that people are anxious of course but I was starting to think I am either crazy or a complete pessimist ). I'm also glad I'm not the only one who's symptoms are disappearing. It surely can't be a bad sign for all of us. I am 10+6 today and for last few days I have only had very mild nausea occasionally (and could be imagining that to make myself feel better), am a bit tired but not as exhausted as I was and most of my breast pain has gone. I have spent the last 2 days close to tears convinced the bean has died. It doesn't help that DP is away this week and when I tried discussing it with my mum she just told me that her first pregnancy ended with a mmc, she had no idea until the scan and its way more common than they make out (thanks mum!). I'm trying to stay positive until my scan on 23rd but struggling this week.

Sorry for just moaning moaning moaning, I'm just a bit blue this week and feeling really alone.

idreamofbeanie · 11/03/2009 12:00

Congratulations boob that is fantastic!

littlepea72 · 11/03/2009 12:47

theboob....happy days , glad everything went well with the scan!!

Treats · 11/03/2009 12:56

theboob - that's so brilliant! Really happy for you and glad it went well.

doggus - and you!!

idob - moan away m'dear. It's what we're all here for. Ignore your mother - she doesn't know what she's talking about...... Is there anything you can do to take your mind off things? Plan a day out or call up a friend? Maybe go to the cinema or pop into a bookshop to find something diverting to read. Sorry I can't be more help but hope you feel better soon.

A word of caution to anyone planning a summer holiday. DH and I are hoping to go to Latvia for a friend's wedding in July and have just found out that our travel insurance won't cover me (I'll be 29/30 weeks). I'm able to fly as long as I have a doctor's note, but will obviously have to make all the bookings etc. without knowing whether I'll get that note or not. Have been in touch with an insurance broker to see if they can arrange a specialist single trip policy for me and won't book anything before I get that in place (making sure I've got full cancellation cover). Just thought I'd mention it because it's something you should think about before you book any holidays. Will let you know how I get on with the broker.

Been feeling absolutely knackered the last couple of days. Could hardly keep my eyes open in my meeting this morning.

MrsPuddleduck · 11/03/2009 13:03

Treats - we have a holiday booked to Majorca in July. My travel insurance covers me up to 34 weeks but I think Thompsons will only let you fly without a doctors note up to 28 weeks. I am going to go into the shop next week after i have seen my midwife and have a definite date.

I think I will be 29 weeks when we return.

This may be a really dim question but does your 12 week scan set the official date? If so I would probably be better waiting until after that.

doggus · 11/03/2009 13:25

theboob - just wanted to say well done, your scan sounds wonderful

theboob · 11/03/2009 13:26

thankyou all
wilmouse i think it does as she has written my due date in my notes now from this scan

i have put some pics on my profile

theboob · 11/03/2009 13:27

congrats to you on your scan too doggus,i bet you feel so relived x

twinklegreen · 11/03/2009 13:32

glad to hear you're scan went well the boob your 20wk scan is the same day as me!

HappyTangerine · 11/03/2009 13:36

theboob - congratulations, thats brilliant news that the scan went so well

sammysam - I am completely stressd out about scan as well, think I'm more dreading it than looking forward to it this morning. The dress is super-comfortable, try the Wallis concession in Debenhams if its not in your local Wallis store.

This morning, I woke up at 7.30am, went back to bed for a bit at 8am, got up again at 9am with really bad pelvic pain and couldn't get down the stairs(was in house alone) so got back in to bed. Figured rest was the best thing along with lots of water(which I had beside me) so stayed in bed. I must have fallen asleep again as I woke up at 12.30. Now certain I have a uti.

Had horrensous argument with my mum last night, she made me feel terrible about something and I hit the roof. Don't even want to tell her I'm pg at the moment. Was going to make lovely meal for dh but found out I didn't have half of the ingredients and was too sleepy to drive. Try again today!

Treats-thanks for the info about holiday innsurance, I hadn't thought of that. Not sure when we're going away but we desperately need a holiday-haven't had one since our honeymoon in Nov 2006 so I can't wait!

LittleMissBliss · 11/03/2009 13:51

Theboob So glad that it all went well. Your scan is really clear! How many weeks are you now with new EDD?

Happy So sorry you are feeling crappy can you call your m/w or see the dr. to get some meds? Hope it clears up soon and you sart to feel better.

smallone · 11/03/2009 15:02

Thanks lal and littlepea I had thought that he would remember from last time, but obviously not. Unfortunately I think a lot of men are inherently selfish. I blame his mother!

theboob fantastic scan pic!

sammysam · 11/03/2009 15:29

Boob-those pics are fantastic!!!

I'm going on my sis's hen week in may (hopefully the week after my 20wk scan all things being well) so assumed everything would be ok-I will check everything but will wait til at least after this scan......
My sisters future sil will however be about 32wks-she is the one who booked it and I did try to warn her (through my sis) that she should check before-I hope it got passed on or I can see tears on the day when we are at the airport and the airline won't let her fly-she never worries in advance about anything-I hope this isn't one of those and she has looked into it-god I really am a pessimist at the moment

smallone my dp has real trouble some days-I think it's made worse because normally he is so spoilt-he is hating coming home to a messy house and having to cook and wash up at the moment-I just try and ignore it. Today he asked how I was, I replied 'feeling very sick' and he said 'well you are all the time-lets just forget about that' UMMMMM not very easy when you are the one spending all your waking hours trying not to be sick!!!! Men! I really don't think they can even begin to understand!!!!

HappyTangerine-I'm very tempted just to try and order the dress online.....lets just hope green suits me I don't suppose you'd like to tell be what else you bought to go with it do you [cheeky]

theboob · 11/03/2009 15:58

thankyou all

with my new edd i am now 11+2
to all those worrying about scans, its completly normal and we will all worry right up untill they are married themselves, its part of being a parent and it never ends lol
there will always be something to worry about

HappyTangerine · 11/03/2009 16:12

LittleMissBliss - thanks. Am going to see how I am tomorrow and maybe go back to doctor. Pain wasn't too bad when I woke up at 12.30 and since then, I have been drinking my own body weight in cranberry juice and water.

smallone - my dh is being great now but had some adjusting to do when he realised how tired I was. He kept coming home to find me asleep on the sofa and v little done all day. We had a few words about it and then he started reading up on pg and soon shut up!

sammysam - I got this shrug to go with the dress. Will be wearing it with some silver heels that I already have. Can't work out what jewellry to wear with it though.

My mum rang back to apologise and to tell me she thinks I am depressed as I always sound so ill when she speaks to me in the morning and am half asleep when she talks to me early evening. Methinks a lot of pennies will drop when we tell her next Friday...

Lovely man who delivers the local paper left his Collie with me earlier for half hour as therapy-he knows how much I'm missing mine. The dog is so funny(he likes chasing plasic bottles full of pebbles rather than a ball), he really cheeed me up. Would love to get another dog but not sure if we should with a baby on the way-esp Collies with their herding instinct. Do any of you have dogs?

Treats · 11/03/2009 17:41

Aw HappyTangerine - how nice of your paper man - glad it made you feel better. Your mum is going to have a complete lightbulb moment when you tell her .

I was watching something on telly last night about midwives and deliveries at Whipps Cross hospital. they showed two women giving birth - one a natural birth and one a Caesarean. I cried all the way through it - really bawled my eyes out. DH was quite concerned at first, but then was really sweet and comforting. God knows what I'll be like when it's my turn.....

BlackEyedDogstar · 11/03/2009 17:59

super scan pic theboob how very exciting to see

smallone - unless you have experienced this first trimester weirdy utter tiredness I suppose you just won't get why someone is nodding off at 5pm.

No nausea here today, in fact I feel almost normal. Mind you I look about 5 months pg already - ridiculous.

smallone · 11/03/2009 19:58

HappyTangerine I think mums always know when something is up. When I told my mum, she said "oh thats a relief, I thought there was something wrong with you"

treats I lost my bola today (mexican chime necklace) which I have been wearing since pg with dd and I found dd had stashed it in her swimming bag. I completely bawled my eyes out on DH and he was saying "whats the matter? you've found it now!" Definitely hormones!

patmum · 11/03/2009 20:27

Hi All

Haven't been around for a while, trying to catch up on the thread but as others say it really zooms along!

We took a week off to house hunt last week. However, ds had major temperature (>39.5) for the first 4 days, then was grouchy as hell for 3 days, eventually went back to nursery on Thursday & Friday. We got a call on Friday to come and fetch him because he had Chicken Pox.

So HATTIE05 what are your questions because I'm probably the expert at the moment. Chicken pox can be an issue in the early weeks and the last weeks of pregnancy. GPs (and out of hours clinicians) freak out about it and tell you to speak to your midwife as soon as possible. But when you finally speak to her she's very laid back about the whole thing and as soon as you tell her you've had it as a child says quit fretting you're fine!

So house hunting was a bit of a joke. I didn't get any of those naps that I was looking forward to. I'm totally run down and seem to have gone down with some bug that has given me the shits and the shakes (sorry TMI!) and have not only "wasted" one week annual leave but also have to take more this week until ds can return to nursery. Although I may cadge some of that as sick leave myself if I can be so cheeky!

On the positive side, I finally have a booking appt on 20th and a scan date for the 30th (1 day before the 13 week cut off for nuchal fold testing).

On someone's other point. With DS I got very little nausea or sore boobs or anything. I was skiing for a fortnight from 5 to 7 weeks but then the tiredness hit at 8 weeks and didn't really lift until 15 weeks when I was suddenly fine again.

It's a whole new ball game with a little one in tow and working 4 long days. I'm totally shattered and aren't really sure how much is down to the pregnancy and how much is mainly down to the fact that I've done no exercise in the last two years!

doggus · 11/03/2009 20:45

patmum - lightbulb goes on....I haven't done any exercise for 2 years either, maybe as you say that's why I feel so dreadful.

I took ds to the shops today all afternoon as I was desperate for some maternity jeans. God, some of them are hideous. I am in the unfortunate situation of being too big for my usual jeans and too small for maternity. Grr. Ds helped by hiding in the clothes on the rails and jumping out. What was really funny was when he got the wrong lady; he was clinging to her legs laughing like a drain and slowly the light dawned that this was not mama....

patmum · 11/03/2009 20:49

doggus thanks for that - I can picture it so vividly it really made me chuckle!

HumphreysCorner · 11/03/2009 21:36

Hi all

Too many posts to reply to but:-

Willmouse-have just looked back at that time my symptoms just disappeared and I saw I was 7 and a bit weeks. Can you remember when I bought that conception indicator test which I did at 8 weeks because I was worried about my lack of symptoms? Hope you feel crap now.

theboob-fab scan news and pics. You will stay on the October thread won't you? I will more than likely have a September baby as I tend to be a week early.

Hoping to stay awake for Desperate Housewives.

Love to all.
