Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diddle · 20/04/2005 13:26

sorry cha cha, i was waffling. no children of my own yet. but will be working on that again very soon.
There is quite a bit of paperwork involved with this job, but nowhere near as much as teaching produces.
You can only have upto 6 children at a time and in that number you must include you own child. you can have upto 3 under5 and 3 over 5.

ChaCha · 20/04/2005 13:32

Thanks Diddle, you've given me a lot of your time this morning, good job i'm not home everday, am going to have to try and look busy at some point (I did load the dishwasher - brownie point )

When at home previously, 4-6 cups of tea/coffee was the norm, now NONE, is terribly strange!

Diddle · 20/04/2005 13:43

no probs. I have put the little ones to bed so i am catching up with invoices. I can never decide what hot drink to have anymore. When i was pg i went off tea and coffee and since the m/c i haven't gone back on them, don't like the taste so i'm having hot milk all the time now. Very weird

Xena · 20/04/2005 13:45

I would agree with Diddles list of pros and cons and the bonus will be the same for diddle (soon hopefully )that you get to look after your own children as well. I make a bit extra by looking after 2 8's and over which don't get included in the 6 your allowed (you do have to include your own under 8's in that number though)
Technically the nursery/after school club would be governed by the same rules as childminders as long as I still live here too. Ofsted register schildminders as well as schools and nurserys etc now so there are fairly universal rules.

Xena · 20/04/2005 13:47

What area are you in diddle?

Diddle · 20/04/2005 13:53

i'm in stourbridge in the west midlands too, have also got a couple of 9 years olds. Funny age i think though. i prefer the younger ones

Xena · 20/04/2005 13:57

The 9yo drives me mad asking to hold the baby all the time. Which she doesn't like because she is super fast crawler and doesn't want to be held onto all the time. I have told both the older 2 to stop treating her like a toy.
But the hardest one is the 5yo who I have the longest hours and has just started school. Its hard because her behavior is quite strange.
BTW we're in London but haven't found a good support group yet either.

ChaCha · 20/04/2005 15:21

applause
Oh, thank you! I've cleaned the kitchen, dinner is on, made the bed and been a bit of a domestic goddess for the last hour...AND NO SICKNESS as of yet... whooppeee dooooo!

busyalexsmummy · 20/04/2005 16:04

Hiya all, havent posted much as still heaving guts up at every given moment! everything seems unappetising at the moment so i seem to be living on cereal and tomatoes on toast! I've got the m/w coming tommorrow afternoon to my house for my booking in appointment, so hopfully she can then give me a date for the dating scan. have just contracted dp's cough which is not helping as i keep having coughing fits which lead to hurling! hope everyones well, will catch up soon and post a bit more regulary when im feeling a bit better xx

ChaCha · 20/04/2005 16:40

Hi busy, its good to see you back even if only briefly please post tomorrow and let us know how everything goes with the m/w.
xx

HellKat · 20/04/2005 16:46

Glad to see you back and feeling better Busyalexsmummy!
Had a fab sleep for a couple of hours (still not sleeping much at night) and managed to clean house top to bottom! Chacha- must've been in the air today .
Had an email back from the mc association (they said it would be around a week before I heard) and they're popping the relevent info in the post. They seemed really happy to have me on board and were very lovely with their condolences. Obviously won't be doing anything for a while but it's something else to aim for.
How's everyone doing today?

ChaCha · 20/04/2005 17:32

Me again! MN must stand for Magnet Net rather than Mumsnet.. oh yes! 5.30pm..m/s is sneaking its way back! Have that horrible hungry/pukey feeling. Glad that i've managed to put dinner in the oven. Have a superfab easy lasagne recipe if you're interested - told you i was domestic goddess today
Better go have a drink..an come back, LOL

ChaCha · 20/04/2005 19:54

Oh well, here goes yet another evening in bed! It's back, full force. Sat down to dinner and cried at the lasagne, had to go and lie down, felt cramps and twinges, had a real good cry. Its a rollercoaster .. oh how i feel puke .. going to lie down and cry at being so helpless...I want my mum!

rodeo1 · 20/04/2005 19:56

Know exactly what you mean Chacha, I use any excuse to go on MN! Wouldn't be so bad if it was just this post but I look on the pg section, childbirth section, birth announcement section, the thread which are just about to have they're babies, and I don't even know who these women are!! Please say i'm not the only one!

Good to here from you Busy, let us know the date of your scan!

BTW chacha my friend gave up teaching when she had her children and took up childminding, her dd is now at school and her ds is 2 and a half, and she's just recently gone back on supply and get's about 2 mornings and maybe a whole day a week. Works better now her ds is a bit older, he goes to a childminder now when she's at school! So maybe a good option when your maternity finishes?

Sorry all lost my internet coneection this morning for some unknown reason so wasn't being rude.

Tex rofl at the pictures in the bread bin, fantastic, I'm glad it's not just me, I keep putting the thing I use to light the oven with in the sink and then can't work out why I can't find it

Hi ya Rodeo, nothing nosey in your question I'm starting is a soft play centre from birth to around 10ish years, but concentrating more on the younger kids, I'll be looking for reliable mums to work if any ones interested! - That's aimed at you Tex

I've got my nuchal scan on Monday and my first mw on 5th May, I'm looking forward to it but dreading at the same time.

Having read the rest of the thread I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one feeling rough - I started week 12 yesterday and the m/s is worse than ever, sods law I suppose, I know I shouldn't moan as it's a good sign but god I'll be glad when it goes.

Chacha, well done you where did the burst of energy come from and if you've got some spare send some my way . By the way if you faint at a paper cut I take it you won't be reading the labour section of your books for a while and that you'd like us to keep the gory details of birth to ourselves for a while longer then

Xena & Diddle your schedule wore me out just reading it, let alone doing it. All respect to you guys I'm finding one threenager a problem at the moment

I'm off to find something to make me feel less sick and to watch The Apprentice, speak to you all tomorrow.

BEKsmum · 20/04/2005 20:28

Sorry meant to add good to hear from you Busy & Chocolate.
