conkertree · 25/02/2009 16:05

great to see you barbarelly and what a great tummy - pleased that you are back on before the babies come so we can watch the countdown to the triplets with you.

bb - you can at least rest assured that those of us due at the end of April will almost certainly be after you. We'll be sitting here bored to tears of being pg while you are cuddled up with your lo.

LuLuBai · 25/02/2009 16:09

Very true conkertree. I've taken the odd peek into the Feb boards recently. It's a wierd mixture of breastfeeding and sleep deprivation coping strategies and fed up swollen mums dying to get the baby out.

BarbarellaNz · 25/02/2009 16:11

LOL at 'trim figure' comments I think my body just looks small in comparison to the planet that is my belly! Seriously, my legs are all purple, mottley and sausage-like, I have 'cankles' and if you saw me in real life you would not think me 'trim'!!! You've made my day though

Nutty I am very jealous of Boffins wheelchair and when walking back from the bus stop yesterday I really felt like stealing a mobility scooter from outside Sainsbury's...

We have decided on names, and middle names will be after our parents. It has meant some strange (read naff) combinations though!

I am glad that so many of you would like twins - I am happy to lend one of my babies out to anyone who would like a turn with them

TMI time, but I have piles which are killing me - is it ok to use over the counter creams? Also, I need dh to do my ladygarden this weekend in preparation for the operation but am scared that if he accidentally sees piles he may never find me attractive again . Don't think he'd do a good job with a blindfold on...

fatandfedup · 25/02/2009 16:11

Thanks Lulubai - saw my physio this morning who told me there is nothing more she can do for me and won't see me now til after delivery. Feel a bit abandoned but that is the way it is. Just concentrating on getting through the next few weeks as are we all I think from reading last few posts. I think time just slows right down when the end is in sight but not to long to go for us all.

conkertree · 25/02/2009 16:13

my worry is that those of due at the end change our minds about wanting them out when the rest of you are sleep deprived and the babies wont stop crying etc etc.

but of course april (and late March) babies are happy little things from the word go.

Dh went off to Zambia for three weeks when ds was 17 days old, so I am thinking that this time round its got to be easier, cause even with ds around, at least dh will be too.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 25/02/2009 16:13

if i had my way i would have my section today!!! but i have to wait to see the consultant (which means waiting for my appointment) to get the go ahead and a date (if he agrees) from him. so dont know yet. my MW says that there is no way i could endure a natural birth in her opinion and she wouldnt like to see me try.

i just thought i was 30 weeks rather than 31 still have edd of the 30th though.

thanks Fatandfedup the c/sect is more due to my back than the spd as my pain relief options are pretty much nil due to the disc. ((hugs)) spd is evil!

Conker - lol at chilli dancing

BoffinMum · 25/02/2009 16:16

Nutty, you could always ask for it at 37 weeks if you are really unhappy. How would you feel about that? My consultant said I could be induced then if I like.

BabyBolat · 25/02/2009 16:18

I really want a mexican now....

Barbarelly don't worry about the piles - think OTC cream is fine and if your DH can get through 7.5 months of pregnancy without going off you, am sure these little things won't matter!!!

BarbarellaNz · 25/02/2009 16:20

BB true - if the wind hasn't put him off, nothing will !

BarbarellaNz · 25/02/2009 16:21

BB have you chosen your boy's name yet?

LuLuBai · 25/02/2009 16:22

Oh DD has finally woken from nap. Got to pop out cos otherwise we are having chocolate chip cookies and olives for supper tonight. DD might actually like that, but I'm not convinced Olives count towards the 5-a-day....

Nutty I think you should definitely angle for an earlier delivery if you can.

later x

fatandfedup · 25/02/2009 16:22

Smutty - Hope you get your appt through quickly and your consultant agrees to section and hopefully earlier too. Agree SPD is evil!

Boffin - Very envious your consultant said you could be induced at 37 weeks. Most I got was a vague offer of a stretch and sweep by mw then. Wish I lived near you!

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 25/02/2009 16:22

Barbarelly!! We missed you!! Loving your fab bump and think you should do a live triplet c-section thread... that'll be a first for MN...

KittyCatIsGettingFat · 25/02/2009 16:23

Lulu - can I come over for cookie-and-olive dinner please?? It's EXACTLY what I feel like for dinner...

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 25/02/2009 16:24

Boffin - 37 weeks is 100% fine by me any time chopped off my 9 weeks left to go is music to my ears tbh and would make me a very happy grateful woman.

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 25/02/2009 16:26

ooooohhhh coookies nom nom!!

BarbarellaNz · 25/02/2009 16:27

Fatandfedup excuse my ignorance, but what is a 'sweep'?

KittyCat I'll get dh onto it! Didn't Britney Spears/Pamela Anderson/Anna Nicole Smith or someone of that ilk give birth live on the internet?

Nutty I hope you can get earlier C-section - it must be so painful. (((hugs)))

conkertree · 25/02/2009 16:30

sorry if tmi - what am i talking about its the april thread - nothing is tmi - but barbarella - i'd use a cream like germoloids, and if you are not already, start trying to pop them back in yourself particularly after a poo - since i picked up that tip - probably from mn - things have been a lot more comfortable in that department. tried preparation h but was a bit rubbish compared to germoloids.

back to your chat about dinner now...

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/02/2009 16:31

don't wnat to rain on your parade Nutty but when I asked about early induction the consultant said that nature does a better job than medicine and that the chances of it working were slim and i'd end up with an emergency section.

that could just be him though. i'll let you know what the next one says at my 34 weeks scan!

purplemonkeydishwasher · 25/02/2009 16:32

and can I just pour out my OUTRAGE on here that there's someone on MN with the name PURPLEMUNKEY!!!!!!!!

Honestly! some people are just RUDE!!!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 25/02/2009 16:32

Barbarelly - basically a bod will pop their fingers into your fanjo and "stretch and sweep" your cervix to attempt to encourage labour

BarbarellaNz · 25/02/2009 16:34

Thanks conkertree they are literally and figuratively a huge pain in the ass. Will get germaloids. I will try your tip - I can't believe how big they get!

Yes...on to dinner....

BarbarellaNz · 25/02/2009 16:37

Thanks Nutty I've heard it mentioned before and never known what the f**k they were on about!

SmuttyNuttyTaff · 25/02/2009 16:40

Purple - the reason they want look to do a section is cos of the possible further damage to the disc in my back from natural labour due to the pressure (the disc could fully rupture causing permenent damage to my sciatic nerve, possibly leave me paralysed etc) i cant have spinal block/epidural due to the disc either. pethadine is not an option (personal choice) and gas and air is not really comparable to the morphine i'm on now. luckily induction has'nt been mentioned i suppose because it is a form of labour.

BoffinMum · 25/02/2009 16:41

I have a bit more detail on the stretch and sweep, having discussed this with the mw last week.

Mw dons rubber gloves and then puts hand up fanjo. Pokes finger(s) through hole in middle of cervix, and pushes up in direction of membranes, moving finger(s) around and trying to unstick membranes generally from cervix.

Ugh. They simply cannot pay these women enough.
