Hello everyone!

WOW, two babies in one weekend!!!
Congratulations Glask! and LB!!!!

STT - Hang in there. I know what you mean about MC and not really knowing until you've been through it. You've had a massive year and you deserve every happiness. Take it easy and wish for the best - we're all pulling for you and remember, as Ses said, the odds of a healthy LO are in your favor!

Not much to report here - still getting little thumps every now and again, but it just seemed so much more frequent and stronger this time last week But have told myself it's all going to be fine. Was our 5th anniversary on Saturday and we went out for a lovely dinner. DH says my gift is coming 5th anniversary is "wood" and he says he's had a carpenter make something and is having it engraved. I'm intrigued!

Hope everyone is well

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 23/02/2009 11:37

Hello Tink and LBOT

LBOT- your anniv sounds lovely and the gift is very intriguing! How exciting

Did you decide on your holiday in the end?

OP posts:
kayzr · 23/02/2009 11:39

LBOT Happy anniversary!! Don't worry about
movements as they do come and go at your stage. Wait until you can't sleep because just as you finally get comfy baby decides it's disco time!!

idreamofbeanie · 23/02/2009 11:54

Morning all,

Kayz - I'm glad DS and DH are feeling better and you managed to catch up on some sleep last night.

LBOT - congratulations on your anniversary. The pressie sounds interesting - what did you get your DH in the end?

Gyo - take it easy!

HI Ses, Playing, Star (sorry if I've missed anyone).

I'm having a major bout of impatience today. Now that my mum, dad and brother all know about beanie this pregnancy just feels so much more real but somehow that makes it all the more precious and just ups the worry. I just want to hurry up and get to the scan and see a heartbeat (oh yeah and a head, legs arms etc would be good too). The one downside to MN is you find out more about the things that can go wrong - I'd never heard of a mmc and would have assumed if there is no bleeding and I still feel sick then everything is fine. I'm sure I'll still worry endlessly after the scan but it will be brilliant to make sure there is a healthy LO in there. Okay deep breaths - I have at least 3.5 more weeks to wait so I'd better try to find some patience from somewhere. Sorry if I drive you all crazy until then!

idreamofbeanie · 23/02/2009 11:57

Oh yeah, forgot to mention I went and bought a couple of new bras and a supportive vest top thing to sleep in. I have already gone up from a DD cup to an E cup . How big will they get, I'm only 8+4! DP thinks it's hilarious and has asked whether I need him to take some time off (or hire a fork-lift truck) towards end of pregnancy to help me carry them around . Honestly, men!

Astarte · 23/02/2009 12:09

HUGE Congratulations LB!!!

So pleased for you and can't wait for your nirth story...lots of details needed if you please!

M/w been Dd2 is one week old today and has lost the grand total of 2oz since birth.
Breastfeeding is going brilliantly, I've moved into my second sized jeans and have 5lbs to go to pre-pg weight. Happy days in our house.

Pools....I have only used the rigid ones, I never fully trusted the inflatable ones to either have enough room in them or stay upright. I hire the gentle water ones, which are filtered and heated, mine goes back on Wednesday and then our house is fully back to normal. The kids have had their last day playing in it today

Sorry for all the sickness going about, hope all those with poolies get sleep or at least a bit of peace.

Hang on in there LBOT & STT not long til you'll have scans is it. The early days are worrying.

Gruff the BH can be rather pokey I've found. Enough to take your breath away and certainly enough to make you stop what you're doing. Do contact the m/w though if you feel they are continuing regularly though.
Shortly before labour they do ramp up a bit and start like a kind of practice labour which all goes towards effacing the cervix ready for birth. This is perfectly normal from 34 weeks onwards for me so not too far away from where you are now. Hopefully it'll settle itself down though.

Ses if the pain is under you right ribs or central like epi-gastric please see the m/w?GP straightaway. What's your BP and urine been like?

lastboxoftampons · 23/02/2009 12:16

thanks for the lovely anniversary wishes.

I got DH this in the end. He loved it! Since we've been redoing our kitchen, he's been looking for something for his knives (he is a bit of a knife snob) and neither of us was particularly keen on a knife block on the countertop. We both really like this, but yesterday our friends came around with their 2 year old and he promptly started going through our drawers/cabinets - apparently he has a penchant for pulling things out - so we were suddenly aware that it's easy access for toddlers. Not an issue for us now, but definitely something to think about for future!

GYO - we have decided that we're going to go to SA, but haven't made any decisions about it yet - need to get on that quickly! A friend of ours started researching some pregnancy-friendly safaris that are within driving distance to Capetown - including one where you rent your own vehicle and can take it as slowly as you like. So, I guess we'll see...I'm still not sure it's actually going to happen in the end.

IDOB - I know, the first bit is torture! I'm afraid there's not much to say except to hang in there! Try to focus on the overwhelming odds in your favor! Even at this stage, more than 80% of pregnancies are successful. It's good to be informed, but I agree, sometimes the extra knowledge is a bit scary. As for your bras...I'm afraid it only gets worse! Here, have some of the delicious but very rich chocolate tart that I made for yesterday's lunch and now have half of to consume all by myself stare at all week long before I chuck it in the end!

GruffaloSoldier · 23/02/2009 12:20

Hi Astarte

Thanks that is really reassuring as I think I am 2 weeks ahead of my actual weeks anyway due to my size and size of the baby so that would make me just over 34 weeks. I will wait til my next apt to mention it to mw unless they get any worse. So thanks for advice

Hooray for breastfeeding going well and house returning to normal...and congrats on being so close to pre pg weight!

Astarte - cross posted! You are such a model mum!!! So impressed that you've only got 5lbs to go! Can't believe Xanthe is a week old already! congratulations!

STT - an L!?!?!??! I started out a D/DD and am in an E now, and really can't imagine being much bigger. Wow, I give you lots of credit! Make sure you rest your back and take lots of care. Did you go back to your regular size after?

Sparklytwinkletoes · 23/02/2009 13:21

LBOT - I had the most phenenomenal monoboob in the world - ever!

Yes, I went back to F, wish I was smaller, hate them! Yes, back is aching already .

idreamofbeanie · 23/02/2009 13:35

Mmmmm- thanks for the chocolate tart LBOT, nausea is just starting to catch up with me again so I think its time to go and have some lunch.

STT - an L ! I'm glad you're feeling sick again (in the nicest possible way). I never feel as sick at the start of the week when I have caught on my sleep which is nice but I always feel reassured when I get nauseous around lunchtime again.

Wow Astarte I'm impressed - only 5lbs to go. I'm starting out a bit overweight so I'm hoping not to put too much on (I have lost 2lb so far with feeling a bit sick and not wanting to eat) and you will be my inspiration for getting it back off afterwards.

idreamofbeanie · 23/02/2009 13:37

Hee hee - only had ms for the last 3-4 weeks but I'm already using 'always' as though it's been going on for months.

kayzr · 23/02/2009 17:48

Well AF has returned, it feels really wierd after almost a year of not having it. Luckily I have never had AF pains or much PMT so it's not too bad.

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 23/02/2009 17:55

Nice wooden gift LBOT so hard to get things that fit with the traditions!

Not envious of the return of your AF Kayz .. must be really weird to get it back... but good to know body is working well. Realised im quite enjoying the absence of it at the moment!

Quite envious of you ladies who?ve got huge norks during pregnancy... mine went from c to d and only up one back size... so nothing massive. Really should go and get measured for nursing bras though I?ve got some sleeping nursing bra things to wear to start with...so was going to wait til after the birth though realised being measured when you boobs are spurting milk is probably not a good idea

IDOB- I remember that impatience well- time practically stands still during those first few weeks waiting for the scan. Think 8-12 was the slowest for me... It will pass though promise and worrying through it is very normal

Gruff- exciting if you think you might be 2 wks earlier than your dates... but hope the BHs aren?t too bad. Mine are definitely worse when walking about. Sometimes have to stop if out in sainsburys or similar. Have you finished your NCT now?

Hurray for appetite and nausea STT... all good signs

Hi Ast- good to see you on and congratulations on fitting into the 2nd pair of jeans!! And of course for the successful breastfeeding..

Making pizzas tonight ? realised bit late to put dough into bread machine (lazy emoticon! ) so it wont be ready for ages.. also not got much in way of meaty toppings, might have to cook some bacon to go on top. Got real craving for salty meats

Just had glass of cold lemonade and baby has gone crazy inside me!

Sparklytwinkletoes · 23/02/2009 20:27

Bleeeuuurrrrggggghhhhhhh I feel RUBBISH

Where is everybody?

lardybump · 23/02/2009 22:03

Well we are home...... Thank you all for the congratulations.... I am in love with my little man who we have called Owen Francis by the way..... I will update facebook with a pic soon....

Birth was so unbelievable......

Waters broke at 10.30 Friday they were green so went in to be checked (only to be told that they were clear ) sent home as no labour pains but told that if no progress by Sunday then I would be induced....

So we came home and I had a bath and we went to bed at about 2 in the morning. By 4 I was getting contractions but they were so irregular that we knew we were in for the long haul (or so we thought)..... Anyway I came downstairs as couldn?t sleep through contractions but didn't want to wake the house..... Woke dp up at 6 to put on my tens machine only to find that it was not all there..... So at 9 shot down the town to get new one and then back home to sleep... I slept until midday and decided that we needed to get active to move things along so we went to a local lake to feed the ducks with some friends... It was 3 in the afternoon at his point and while the contractions themselves were now getting very painful they were still only coming about every 20 mins or so.. Went back to our friends for tea and while there the contractions were getting so painful I told dp that I wanted to go to hospital to get checked out (they were still only every 30 mins at this point.) So at 7.30 we dropped dd at nannies and went to hospital where I started to get contractions about 5 mins apart....... However got into delivery suit and they stopped for about 1/2 hour.

Lovely midwife did a trace to check on baby and contractions kicked in again at full intensity but again only every 30 mins or so. She wouldn't send me home as after each contraction babies hb decelerated alarmingly. She called the dr to check the trace and she wanted me to stay on trace but dp should go home as it would be hours yet because the contractions, while strong, were not labour, this was at 10:55. I told the MW that when the contractions came I was struggling with the pain on just the TENS machine, she said she wanted me to take some pethadine and sleep as we still had a long way to go and off she went to get it...... I should add that I had not been examined at this point because if your waters have broken they won?t examine you until they are sure you are well on your way because if they do and you are not dilated they would have to induce you because of risk of infection!!!

So midwife is out of the room (thinking I am a wimp I expect) and then all hell breaks loose.... I am just saying my tearful goodbyes to dp when I am hit with the biggest contraction so far which lasts for 5 mins... baby?s hr drops to 70 beats per min and I feel that I need to poo..... I scream for dp to get mw back, she takes one look at the trace and examines me only to find that I am 5 cm's dilated. She kindly takes back the pethadine and gets me some gas and air... Time is now 5 past 11. I am then hit by one contraction straight after another and an intensity that I have never felt before. 5 mins later I tell her I need a poo and she checks me again and is shocked to find I am fully dilated (yes I went from 5 cm to fully dilated in 5 mins....) However there is a problem with babies hb so she calls the registrar who is the same lady that delivered dd.... I am now having a single contraction with an urge to push but nothing is happening. They can see babies head and cannot work out why it isn't moving.... Then at 20 past babies hp drops again and registrar shouts that there is something wrong with baby and we need to get it out now. So with legs in stirrups (not good with SPD) and with the help of venturous babies head comes out, the cord is wrapped around the neck tightly two times. Lovely registrar sorts this out in seconds and I deliver baby.

Baby is put on my tummy and dp tells me we have a boy... However he is not crying and is very cold and pale so off he goes to more midwifes........ I panic and scream the hospital down demanding they make him cry because there is something wrong with him.... .. Eventually dp is given the baby and registrar delivered the placenta 5 mins later...

Both me and Owen were very sore (I have second degree tear and a tear on my labia) and in a state of shock as it had been so quick... DP couldn't believe he had almost missed it.... But all elated now our family is complete.....

We had to stay in for 24 hours due to risk of infection but home now. Owen has ingested a lot of mucus so has been very sick but is feeding well (my poor boobies).. DD loves him and won?t leave him alone which is lovely... So over all we are the luckiest family alive... And both my children?s lives have been saved by the same lovely registrar.

PS Owens head was 37cm at birth!!!!!!!!!!! OUCH

GruffaloSoldier · 23/02/2009 22:12

Wow LB - that is quite a story!well done you and Owen! Lovely name. So glad that you are both safe and well. Cant wait to see pics!

ohsnap · 23/02/2009 22:13

Congratulations LB!!! What an amazing story, so fast and no wonder you were shocked! Was he OP in the end or had you managed to turn him back? Lovely names too

Glad you're home and well (if a bit sore!) and I can't wait to see the photos...

lardybump · 23/02/2009 23:06

I have added photos to facebook

lardybump · 23/02/2009 23:16

Of to feed Owen now so will catch up sometime after MW has been tomorrow... Night all...

kayzr · 24/02/2009 05:23

Morning,

Congratulations LB!!! That is an amazing story. I love his name. Glad he is feeding well.

Well we're all up again. DH was sick last night and I have just been sick. DS1 had some awful diarrhoea and before we could change him, he had pulled his nappy off and it went everywhere!! So while I was throwing up my brilliant DH was cleaning up DS1 and everywhere he had got poo. Then he cleaned up where I missed the toilet. He has been wonderful.

ohsnap · 24/02/2009 08:35

LB your pictures are lovely, and if that's you in the 2nd one then I demand you change your name, you look great!
