Hello all:

Ses - Try a local seamstress for blinds instead - much cheaper! I did have the name of one that friends of ours in Croydon used. Let me see if I can find it. We went with one based in Walthamstow in the end, and she charged us about £300 for blinds for our large bay window (so, one big window and two smaller side ones).

Playing - Try not to worry about baby's growth. Even if they took Fraggle now, 5lbs+ is a repsectable weight and 37 weeks is considered full term - my SIL's babies were both that weight.

Happy - They don't seem to diagnose it here that much, but is it possible you have PUPP? If you google it,you'll find tons of info. My aunt had it and was going crazy from the itching. Apparently happens more often when you're carrying a boy as your hormones and the male hormones react.

I haven't felt much movement at all today cue the worrying!!!!

Playingthe9monthwait · 20/02/2009 16:43

Thanks guys! Not really worried just a little anxious. Its more the not knowing what the action plan is that I am finding hard. I also do know that his gestation and weight means he would be fine out of the womb, I am more anxious that he's not fine in the womb! Maybe he is just going to be small.

At least I am getting plenty of movements so I don't have that to worry about. Hope you feel some more movements LBOT.

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 20/02/2009 16:58

Thanks for all your helpful comments about curtains/blinds. DH phoned so I told him - he said he thought the lot was going to come to about £600!! Even on Next it looks costly just as we've got so much space to cover. DH wants to look at ready made curtains but I just don't think most places do them big enough - 3 of the windows we need to do are about 300cm wide by 230cm long! We need to do them really as we have nothing up at the moment!
I really never thought I'd get this hung up (oops - I do still have my sense of humour!) about curtains!!

Playing - good to hear from you. Hope you're making the most of your ML. Try not to worry but I know it's hard. As others have said, Fraggle is a good weight and if they were really worried, they'd be acting quicker.

Happy - was wondering how things were going for you. That itching sounds awful but hopefully you'll have your little one soon and it will all be worth it then.

Star - how did you sprain your wrist? At this rate we'll be opening up the hospital wing of the wagon again! Take it easy.

LBOT - I think I went for days early on when I was feeling movements and then days when I wasn't. Just told myself it was ok and after about 22 weeks, it all became a bit more regular and predictable.

Diege - don't do too much!!!

Right, DH will be home soon! Catch you later!

Astarte · 20/02/2009 17:21

I would get a local seamstress to make and fit them for you. It's what my mum does as a part-time job sometimes and she would never charge anywhere even vaguely near a quarter of that sum

Dd2 was very unsettled last night, no one in the entire house seemed to get any sleep, now my milk is in and she's feeding well.
I jammed my finger in the car door LBOT outside the treatment room for my massage no less..... fully shut as well. AB's are kicking in.

Took both girls to a birthday party today, we're getting back to normal which is very nice. She seems to have slotted straight in

kayzr · 20/02/2009 17:42

Hello everyone.

X-ray went well, I now have to wait 10 days for the results.

Playing, It's nice to hear from you. I agree Fraggle sounds a good weight so he'll be fine.

Happy, the itching sounds horrible. Hope baby puts in an appearance soon.

LBOT, I agree with Ses, they do get more regular in the next few weeks. But if you are really worried then you could ring your MW.

SIL and BIL popped round today and neice is tiny!!! She is in early early baby stuff despite only being about 3 days early. So of course next to DS2 she looks even smaller. She made me feel really broody though!

SesHopesSpringwillbeheresoon · 20/02/2009 19:26

Hello Kay! Glad x-ray went ok and hope the 10 days goes quickly and brings good results.
Have you heard from Glask?
Hope she's ok.

kayzr · 20/02/2009 19:49

Nope not heard from her in a couple of days. She said she would text to tell me when she has had the baby. I don't really want to be texting her all the time when she has so much going on.

lardybump · 20/02/2009 21:11

Just got back from the hospital... Hadn't felt baby move all day so they asked me to come in. THey done a trace and everythings fine but MW has put the fear of god up me now by telling me that I have a huge baby and that my bump is all baby, and that it has gone back to back which is where all my problems last time stem from...... Came out crying......

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 20/02/2009 21:18

Hi LB- sorry to hear that you've had that worry today but glad everything is ok...

Did they say if baby is likely to move around? is it engaged|?

How are you apart from that?, you said you were feeling down today..

OP posts:
Starshinetiger · 20/02/2009 21:21

Sorry for bad hospital visit LB - I've heard lots of people say that mw can't really tell size of baby. as for position, you can still change that. sleep on left side, don't lounge back when sitting down, try to keep your weight forward as much as possible -i.e. can you watch telly leaning forward on ball or cushions? or lying on sofa on left side, but slightly tilted forward (i find DH's lap a good pillow for this and he can stroke or massage you then too ). all is not lost - SIL managed to turn my niece in utero at quite a late stage. btw lying on left is because if baby has back down your left side, they are more likely to swing round to have their back against you tummy in labour. and when you go into labour don't labour on your back, labour standing, leaning forward or on all fours - all of which should help. sorry if you know all this already, but i've learnt a lot of this since giving birth to ds.
sorry still typing with left hand.
now really must go pack my hospital bag - had promised myself i would do it today.

lardybump · 20/02/2009 21:24

Still feeling down but there is nothing I can do about any of it really except wait and see.

DD was back to back and we nearly lost her as she got stuck. Had a very traumatic time, that took me literaly months to get over. I tried to move her but nothing worked but I will try again.....

i just cant believe it baby has been in perfect possition up until now and i have been so careful with how I sit and lay down..... Sods bloody law.....

Baby only 1/5th engaged but they say that 2nd babies dont engage until labour so not worried about that....

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 20/02/2009 21:27

LB- that sounds like a really difficult experience with DD.

Would you consider a C-sect? might be good grounds for it....

Always think things can sound a bit insincere over the net but am thinking of you...

OP posts:
Starshinetiger · 20/02/2009 21:36

sorry lb hope that wasn't insensitive post - can see how you would be worried following birth experience with dd. am thinking of you.

lardybump · 20/02/2009 21:39

I would consider c section but only if all else failed. Was prepped for one last time but dd's hb dropped so low that they didn't have time to wait for drugs to work so cut me down below and yanked her out with forcepts (totally barbaric)..... Was still being stitched up 1 and 1/2 hours later..... Not nice at all.....

But she is here and well and the apple of my eye so wasnt all bad......

I will get through it even if it is as bad as last time but was hoping for a bit smoother ride this time....

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 20/02/2009 21:41

Star- not sure what you meant but I really wasnt in anyway meaning you were insensitive... i worry about how I was coming across on here!

OP posts:
lardybump · 20/02/2009 21:42

not insensitive at all star, I missed your post before I had typed my reply.....

ohsnap · 20/02/2009 22:24

Oh LB, sorry to hear about OP position, Star's right though, it's not too late! DD1 was OP and I had 26 hours ending in ventouse that went wrong and 45 minutes of stitching, BUT DD2 was born in 3 hours, 8 minutes of pushing, at home, despite being OP on and off for the last few weeks. Be REALLY strict with yourself on how you sit/lie, crawling on all fours is really dignified good for changing the position and certainly worked for me.

The labour part's important too as Star says, with DD2 I found leaning on the kitchen worktop during contractions really helpful as it kept me upright and leaning forwards a bit. And don't forget, you're in charge of your labour and if a MW tells you to lie on your back tell her to get stuffed, they can examine you standing up!

Also, interesting what you say about a big baby and bump being 'all baby', that's what I was told too, but she was only a nice average 7lb 9oz, and I had GALLONS of water, so they certainly got that wrong! I think the weight estimates can be way off too, DD2 was apparently going to quite small, but ended up being 1oz bigger than DD1 who was predicted big!

Anyway, I really hope things (and baby!) turn around for you and you get to meet your baby very soon.

ohsnap · 20/02/2009 22:26

Eep, that was a bit long wasn't it? sorry!

STT, I hope you're pukey again in the morning (but not too bad, just enough!)

It was DD2's 2nd birthday today, she's not been well since yesterday, another mystery temperature and she was awake in the night last night, but she had a nice day and is now fast asleep in her new big bed under her new Peppa Pig bedclothes, she looks so tiny!

GYoIsReallyHavingABaby · 20/02/2009 23:12

Hello

She just texted to say that her waters have gone and they are green so baby could be distressed - she has had to go into hosp..she said she hasnt had any contractions yet. Will update if/when i get more.

lardybump · 21/02/2009 02:08

Very late update here. Just got home from hospital. We are in no doubt that my waters have gone my god I flooded everywhere... 100x more water than with dd..... And while it was green they are possitive it is not meconium (sp?) so they have sent me home after a two hour trace...

If labour doesnt start then I am being induced on Sunday morning as the baby is now open to infection....

Ohsnap there was so much fluid, I am still leaking now and they went like a waterfall at 10:30 so I am hoping they have got it wrong here as well.......

Tummy is all saggy already......

Having minor contractions now but not painful so going to have a bath and bed for a few hours...

Will check in with someone tomorrow....

Night night....

ps I am having a baby

kayzr · 21/02/2009 07:18
